First of all, does this thing look goofy to anyone else?
And secondly, $68.99?
Looks kind of cool to me.
It has the profile, if not the exact colors, of a bluegill. Rapala's DT baits are kinda weird looking to, but I can attest to the fact that they catch fish. As for the price tag--I think someone is smoking crack. But then I think Lucky Craft is overpriced too.
Hahaha i saw this on *** hte other day as well i thought it must have been some sort of typo or something.
I don't know abot this one, but you can get a Matt blue gill (hard) for a lot less. I tink this one is to catch fisherman. Any body itchen to buy something and tell the rest of us how it worked out?
Dominion, is that a Japanese lure?
If so, I can understand the pricing.
The lure is beautiful but at that price, no thank you.
How about joining us at the Richmond Fishing Expo and seeing what is being offered, if anything????
Happy New Year
It looks pretty good, but wayyyyyy overpriced!
Try it up here and see if the Northerns and Pickeral like it.... :

I don't know if it is Japanese. It is made by a company that I haven't heard of before, I just saw it on TW listed with the crankbaits and thought it was an extremely weird shape for a crank. It may actually be a swimbait as sometimes TW puts swimbaits with lips in the "Crankbait" category.
I will most likely be at the fishing expo but I don't know if I'll be spending too much. I kind of tapped myself out after Christmas. I do need to go to Bass Pro to get a fly reel with a gift card, though. I basically just want to check out all the tackle and meet with some of the Central VA guys like you and Micro.
Wow, a bit pricey. I'd only buy it if I were sponsored. Looks legitimate though.
Back in the day, Bagley had some cranks with a similar shape. They were elss than $10. I still have two.
Hmm...
Although I don't consider myself "cheap", I still haven't
gotten there...
8-)
Don't know about that but did you take a look at all the other products by that company they are selling? 51.99 for that frog type thing and 68.99 for a propbait??!! Sure the propbait is beautiful but c'mon. I guess it is one of those things that if I buy one I will instantly become a better fisherman :
Hah.. that is all.

Yeah, I looked at the others and was equally shocked at them.
I consider this lure/price an insult to my intelligence.
Dr T
Vagabond is a very small Japanese company. Those are all hand carved , hand painted baits. I think they make some of the most beatiful finishes in baitmaking, if not THE best finishes. Wouldnt pay that price though.
Thanks for the info bizz. Do you know how big that bluegill bait is?
I don't think I ever spent more than 10 clams on a lure. For $70 that thing had better catch lots of fish!

I thought they quit making these baits. Here's a link to look at what they normally cost. http://www.ichibantackle.com/showproductdetail.asp?productid=2473&name=PERSIMMON%20SEED%20BIG&manufacturename=VAGABOND
3.4 inches and almost 1.25 ounces? So it's kind of a crankbait/small swimbait hybrid?
Some bait makers make their baits more for the love the craft than selling high volume.
They don't bother me at all - - more power to them. I don't have to buy their stuff, but I'm glad they make it anyway.
It's not like they're barraging us with an incessant stream of hype and paying obnoxious tournament fishermen to make videos of huge private lake bass being caught on them in a Billy Mays Oxi-Clean-style ad.

I have never fished that bait but I recently made some photofinish baits with a similar shape that are 2 1/2 " long. They are usually called a "sunfish" style crankbait. I don't know about the others, but mine have a very wide wobble. I think that big flat shape creates a pretty unique action.

That bait looks like a copy of the old Heddon Punkinseed, with a better finish... You can still find some Heddon Punkinseed recent re-issues on Ebay, and you can get six or seven of them for the price of that Japanese bait...
Looks just like some bluegills I have caught.
Probably be great bed/springtime bait or for throwing around docks and shallow trees. For that price I would take the wife out for a nice dinner and hope for the best!!!

So what will this one do for ya'

Here you can find Vagabond lures.

The bait is called PERSIMMON SEED BIG and I have one.
It's a kind of a topwater crank wakebait.
