how to do you orginize your plastics 2025

fishing user avatarKYbass1276 reply :

I have a bunch I'm tired of digging through to find what I need all the time.  I am going to organize them in order of my most used and favorite while the rest of the ones I don't use as much stay stored away.

My issue of storing the ones I don't use isn't a problem I'll just buy some rubber maid containers and sort them accordingly

As for the ones used frequently I was thinking maybe a couple of these  http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_10200096_100011010_100000000_100011000_100-11-10   Any one use these or have any suggestions.

I use those plastic shoe boxes and have one for each of the different styles of baits:

Senko type

trailers

worms

tubes

etc., etc. - then if I am fishing as a non-boater, I can gather up some from each of the categories to fill my smaller tackle box.

fishing user avatarAdam G reply :

I use Plano 3741's and keep them in the original bags.  This box fits plastics in their bags well and offers three compartments per box.  They fit pork jars as well, but I don't use that much anymore.

I use one for creatures/craws/pork, one for drop shot/grubs/tubes and one for Senkos and worms.

I looked at the binders and I didn't like the idea of re bagging everything.  Especially when you've got all the juice and salt in plastics these days.  Keep em in the bag!

fishing user avatarGeorgia Jeff reply :

I have a 4 foot by 12 foot section of pegboard in my shed and I hang them on pegboard hooks in the original bags.  My wife calls it JeffMart.

I have seen many different techniques but that sounds awesome.  I just store them in old shoe boxes sorted by type and when I head out I take out the colors I want for the day and conditions

any pics???

fishing user avatarbwillis reply :

I just picked up a binder from BPS with 8" x 10" pages.  I have most of my plastics in there with labels on each page saying what type of bait is in there.  I keep all my Gulp plastics in there original bags in the bottom of my tackle box.

fishing user avatarA-Rob reply :

I keep them all in 360 boxes, or some variation of that size.

I just organize them all by type: worms, tubes/creatures, cranks, bigboy lures (jigs and swimbaits) I keep my spinnerbaits separate in ziplock bags to try to keep them from drying out and they don't fit in my boxes.

fishing user avatarfishfordollars reply :

I use a 4x8 pegboard in my garage. Just takes a glance to see what needs to be refilled. When it comes time to hit the water I just take what I want and return them at the end of the trip.

In my boat I have a section set aside that holds the packages up in order from smaller to larger. Takes just a moment to flip through to the bag I want.

Oops.  I quoted the wrong person above.

I carry around 3 3700 boxes stuffed with which ever baits they are biting at that time of year.  I love the rod holder that I have my good rod in.  It clips in and out of some brackets so I can un clip it and tote four rods with me so that they don't get tangled and broken.  When I get home I just clip the rod tote back onto the wall.

fishing user avatarFishes in trees reply :

So, you're going to organize your plastics, huh?  Good luck with that.  Goals are good.   Stay in touch and let us know how this quest for order works out.

Seriously, if you can devise a system that puts frequently used plastics at your fingertips, allows reasonable access to occasionally used baits and clearly identifies and stores your once in a blue moon plastics, you're just better at this organization stuff than I am.

I think once you more than one bag of soft plastics, you're going to have storage and organization issues and  you will waste time on the water digging through your stuff.

in a pile of chaos.

fishing user avatarrodnreel11 reply :

I really like both the peg board and plastic shoe box ideas.  I just wish I had that many plastics so I could do the same... :'(

Right now I use extra large freezer bags with labels.  I group similar baits or if I have a lot of one brand/bait (like Zoom Speed Craws) I group them together.  Works OK so far, but as they build up I'll switch to either the plastic bins or a big piece of peg board in the garage.

Easy storage and a great way to keep an Inventory...

So what are your store hours so I can come do some shopping?  Looks like the wall in a darn tackle shop.  I've really got to do that in my garage.  Especially since I just finished up a job and have a bunch of that wall material in the shop....

fishing user avatarIDbasser reply :

I use Plano 3700's in the boat, and peg board in my shop.

fishing user avatartnbassfisher reply :

I never can seem to get a system that works well for me. I'm still looking for a good one. I have tried using different boxes to keep them all in, but that makes for too many boxes.

Currently they are all in their bags or in zip-locs thrown into my tackle bag.

fishing user avatarBC reply :

I used to use those BPS binders with the velcro closure, and keep the plastics in their original bags.  The bags fit in the binder pouches.  The only problem was that I was bad about "zipping" the zip locs, so stuff would fall out.   Now I've got the Shimano Baraja binders, and the whole thing zips up.  so now I close the original bag, but if I don't zip the binder bag, no big deal.

fishing user avatarGeorgia Jeff reply :

My wife thinks I have too much crap.  I need to let her see some of you guys collections!

fishing user avatarCarrington reply :

i just keep mine in worm binders. and then any i cant fit in there, i just throw there bags into my tackle bag.

fishing user avatarBlue Streak reply :

I leave all of mine in the original bags and carry what I want for the day in a couple of those small bags, I think they are from Falcon and also Bass Pro.

All of my extras I just keep in good old shoe boxes. They stand up easy and I can seperate them in brand, size, or color and they are easy to find. I use a Sharpie to write on the outside of the box what is in it. Best system I have tried yet.

fishing user avatarjacobhookem reply :

I usually just keep them inside plano boxes and then bring the boxes that I may needfor a certain lake, and put the boxes in my boat storage. I also have 6 plastic boxes full of different kinds of plastics and other baits. Dang i wish that i had the room for a peg board like some of you guys have just have hardly any space in my small area.  :)

fishing user avatarPilgrim reply :

I keep mine in the original bags and stuff them in a large soft sided cooler. Dig thru them when I need something. Plus they are protected from the heat.

fishing user avatarFishing Rhino reply :

For storage, I keep them in plastic boxes by brand.

For fishing, I keep them in Plano boxes by type, worms, flukes, craws, creatures, finesse, etc.

fishing user avatarBankbeater reply :

Geez louise, you guys could open up your own bait shop.

Exactly what I was thinking.  Looks like a local tackle store with the peg board and lures hanging on the pegs.

fishing user avatarShadcranker reply :

I have two different stashes; one for the boat, and one for home storeage of back-ups / refills.

For the boat, I use 3700 and 3600 size boxes and sort by style / type, and then color. I use the bigger boxes for worms, lizards, jig trailers, etc. The smaller boxes hold my senkos, tubes, drop shot baits, craws, grubs, and smaller sized baits.

By using specific boxes for different styles of baits, I can limit what goes in the boat, reducing clutter and weight. I just grab what I need. For example, my 10" worm box only gets used in the warmer months on structure, so it stays in the garage until May.

For the extra / refill plastics at home, I bought two of the largest sized Plano plastic boxes available (roughly 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 and approz 12" thick). these have no dividers in them. Then I grouped the baitys by style, leaving them in their bags, and put them in 1 gallon freezer bags (i.e. jig trailers, craws, 10" worms, etc.). I use a Sharpie to label each freezer bag.

One of the big boxes contains worms, senkos, lizards, trick worms, flukes, etc. The other big box is stuffed with trailers, craws, tubes, etc.

When my boat supply runs down, I go to the big boxes and refill out of the back-up. Freezer bags have really helped me to get and stay organized.

Each winter, I will take an inventory and refill the home stash to make sure I have enough for the year.

This works well for me.

fishing user avatarzbigbadaaron reply :

Most go in a large plastic tub, the ones im going to use for the day go in my tackle box.

+2  but I think that they have more inventory than my local shop.
