I was sitting around thinking about this, if I was stranded on a fresh water 5000 acre lake and the days were in the 50-60's and water temps were in the mid 40's....What would be my one lure I would choose for survivals?
I keep think about a trusted rooster tail for the varieties of fish.
So what would you choose?
a jighead with grub
Easy - ned rig
Yep. Inline spinner. Mepps.
50 degree's during the winter? Sign me up!
Title says bait...post says lure...I don't want/need a lure. Size 4 circle hook and some line/string....nightcrawlers will get you all the fish you need to survive....from just about ANY lake
If smallies live there...jerkbait
Zoom Finesse Worm
3/16oz finesse jig with a small pork trailer
Silver Buddy
Good question...
First I would try to find some deep schooled up bass and try to fire them up with a deep crank. Then it would either be a Ned rig or a shaky head.
So if I had to choose one it would be the Ned rig.
Interesting all the different response. Now remember you are stranded and have to eat what you catch. I have to honestly say I have never had bass, any insight into the flavor of My favorite fish?
Too many variables. That being said, without targeting any specific species, I'll take a jig head / grub / and a chunk of nightcrawler.
Lipless crank

Berkeley Power Tube or 4" Power Worm. Life or death I'm pretty sure I could make something with these or one of these.
I would try to kill the person who was holding me hostage and forcing me to fish one bait and only one bait. What kinds of person would make a Guy fish with only one lure? Only a Communist would make a rule like that.
I would Probably bring a Tube and worm weight and worm hook if that counts as one. Also sneak a jig head in my pocket as I can fish a tube as a fluke, Topwater, bottom, most importantly I could pitch into cover.
I would normally say a jig but I think A tube can be modified so many ways and can be used for any technique. Plus in Florida, Tubes are not popular with many guys making them work better.
Favorite color Tube. black Red Flake works best 99% of the time, not sure why, but they love Black and red flake in Florida and they did up north as well.
I've go with a spinner bait.
If I had to catch food it would be a Blade Bait. You can catch a lot of diffrent fish in a day with a blade bait. If I just had to fish with one bait it would be an LC Pointer 78 in sexy shad.
I would be trying to catch fish not just bass .I would pick a 1/8th ounce yellow marabou jig . I could catch fish on them when I was 8 , I can catch fish on them now .
Probably a tiny hair jig small enough for panfish.
I would choose a different scenario, preferably one with warmer weather and dozens of beautiful women depending on me to supply the food.
Since the word "survival" is in the mix, you will need a durable lure for all seasons
and all water temperatures. To that end I would opt for a 'Bucktail Jig" (plastic trailers are not durable).
After the first fish was caught, a fresh bait-strip would be added to the jig ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

This, except I would want one of the old stainless steel ones Terminator used to make since it will need to last me a while.
I have a stainless #5 mepps I used to catch pike with that is over a decade old. It still runs well. And isnt rusted out.
Rattletrap.............

What if they don't?
Easy - dynamite.....light, boom, and dinner is served.
Ill take a senko
You better take a heck of a lot of senkos
i would want a dropshot with keitech 4" strait tail worms green pumpkin. I could carry a lot of those worms and in a pinch i could dig up some fresh ones.

What Lake? Depends on the lake. And this is a catch fish or die scenario?
Guys there so many good ideas, after think awhile I would probably add a drop shot with real worm or crawfish if I could find them
Keitech swing impact fat on a ewg. 4.8" or 5.8". Or a senko.?
