well i had a pack of some riverside worms mixed with power worms that i got at some fishing derby a long time ago.
the riverside worms were BEAST!!!! they were definitley close to my favorite worms. sadly, i cant seem to find them or anything like them anywhere.
the worms were ribbon tail worms about 10" long including tail, and the main body was about 1/2" think and it was triangular (i love long bulky worms) the tail was also thin wedge shape, it was thick (for a tail) but not near as thick as the body and the tail had "RIVERSIDE" stamped onto it. the body had slanted grooves pointed toward the tail but only on the top two sides, the bottom side was smooth.
anyone familiar with what im describing? could anyone give me a link or company name or anything to where i could get my hands on some more (even if they are knockoffs)
here is a pic of my last worm:
not sure if this is a good enough picture to distinguish the worm, but my dad stuck this pig with one of the river side worms im talking about:
I know that the Wal-Mart by me carries them. I'd check there if you already haven't.
havent seen any at any of the stores that sell tackle around me.
I believe the Riverside line became the YUM line, anyone know if that is correct?
A good alternative would be a 10" culprit worm.

Riverside is a subsidiary Lurenet which owns Yum, Xcaliber, BooYah, Heddon, Lazy Ike, Smithwick, Rebal, Bomber, Cotton Cordell, Creek Chub, Silver Thread, & Arbogast.
QuoteI believe the Riverside line became the YUM line, anyone know if that is correct?
True to a certain point Muddy, Riverside was incorporated to the PRADCO conglomerate to which Fred Arbogast, Excalibur, YUM, Heddon, Rebel, Cotton Cordell, Creek Chub, Booyah, Smithwick, Silver Thread, Bomber & lazy Ike belong.
Actually nowdays the Riverside brand has been dissapeared from the face of the planet. The Riverside site still exists, you click on it and it links you to Lurenet but the catalog shows nothing.

X2 Try em, you will like em!

Just curious what size hook you use with the 10" Culprit, what type of rig you fish it with (crig, trig, how much weight, etc), and how you fish it?
I've never fished a curly tail worm, but those 10" Culprits look like they'd do some work.
Look at the Producto 9" Tournament Ripple also. Nice worms, very soft and a huge color selection.

T-rig 3/16 oz bullet un-pegged with a Gammy 3/0 straight offset hook.
It looks like this and it is a killer bait. Dead stick it, drag it very slowly along the bottom, pull it gently off the edge of a lilly pad or laydown log and be alert when it falls. JMHO

i have used many other 10" worms and the culprits are very good, probably the best 10"er ive found, but they are skinny. i like the bulkiness and thickness of the riverside worms.
Look at the Producto then, they are a little more bulky then your average worm. It is why I use them too.
yeah they seem like they would be some good worms. i do like the looks of them. on that website i clikced "ripple" on the sidebar and it only showed 8" as being the longest. is there another ripple worm that is longer?
ok i see the 9" tournament ripple now. that looks like a nice alternative. someone offered to make me a mold of my existing worms and pour me some, i think i might have to take him up on that. if something goes wrong with that plan the tournement ripple might be a nice alternative.
if that pro snake came in a 9 or 10 inch size i'd like that one too
yeah that pro snake looks like a good worm,
CULPRIT MAKES A 12 INCH WORM TOO.If you want a bulky one Gambler makes a really beefy worm.

have a link?
I would say go with a 10 inch power worm or for a better price I like the Brushy Creek Lures 10 inch worm...very good product and has some meat to the body.
As far as how I fish them, similar to Alpster, normally 1/8oz weight with a 5/0 Gammy or Owner EWG hook. This is by far my most productive mid summer lure
Here ya go Dave

the body on these is pretty darn thick.
I feel your Pain. My favorite Color in my Favorite Tube is gone for 2008. What the Hell are they thinking over their at YUM!?!?!?

What really blows my mind is when they discontinue a color or style the sells like friggan crazy sometimes.
thanks for the link bass fin@tic. those do look pretty thick. they also kinda look triangular maybe these are the knockoffs of the riverside worm ive been looking for!

Go to lurenet.com and click on internet specials, they got a ton of yum tubes on clearance. Maybe you'll find your color there.

PRADCO is now owned by Lurenet
That old worm of yours is a Riverside Big Wag. Disocntinued long ago.
Lurenet is Pradco's ecommerce website for all of their brands under one roof.
A very close model of worm would be Roboworm's RoboTail, but it is only in 7 1/2" I believe.
Brad
yeah i did some research a couple months ago when i was still fishing before winter and i did find out that it was the riverside big wag. i cant find a good substitute, that producto lure is probably going to be the best sub. (7.5" robo worm is too small)
QuoteA good alternative would be a 10" culprit worm.http://www.culprit.com/html/culpritworm.html
Yeah, it looks a lot like a culprit to me.
I find it funny no one has mentioned the Zoom Ol' Monster or Zoom Big Dead Ringer. Both are phenominal worms IMHO. We use them on the big G in the summer swimming them along the grass lines and fish absolutely hammer them. Just another alternative.
