I catch alot of fish on a dirty jigs swim jig and a rage craw trailer. Its my go to confidence bait. Here is a twist
Me likey
Lol, this has potential. Colored blades, different sizes and types, ect.
This is def something pressured fish have never seen.
interesting. my PB was on a swim jig. This could be a game changer.
Agreed....swim jigs flat catch fish. For me the rage craw trailer in sparse grass has been devastating. This hybrid bait really opens up options where the rage trailer is a bit out of place. I am very curious to burn/wake it as well as a slow roll.
Mid to late 80's - Roland Martin, in cahoots with Blue Fox, marketed a very similar jig. Not as sophisticated color scheme, of course, but a very similar idea. Strike King also offered a similar jig around the same time. Blue Fox one had a willow leaf blade, as I recall the Strike King model had a Colorado blade. Late 70's, Fishing Facts magazine had an article about how to put blades on the back of Johnson Silver Minnows, that bait was fished slightly sub-surface, an old school take on a swimming jig.
History aside - glad you found a bit modification what works for you.
I think you have your own version of a Whiz Jig. I've tried them but not found them to be spectacular.

I am gonna give it a test run this evening. As with anything.....in its place it will produce.
Got several swim jigs and rarely pull them out. I tend to go Lipless crank in those situations. Might have to rethink that. No real reason other than confidence. Trouble is, after burying a treble in my finger earlier this summer, I find myself a little hook shy. Looks like my swimmers will see the light of day....soon
Pretty much all I ever fish are swimjigs, and I was eyeing the heck out of those the other day!

They certainly have potential.
Pepper custom baits has one like that, called the Boom Boom plus swim jig. Fred Roumbanis designed it.
Amidoinitrite?
That one looks good to me. I am going to have to test it later to find out if or what i would change. I will post after i test drive it.
Yep, started doing this in 1990, nothing new really, just newly discovered by other fisherman.
Looks good.. I'm certain it will work too...
Warbaits Warblade. Brian.
I gave it a once over and will say that it catches fish. As predicted the retrieve is totally different, and the feel odd. For me this would be used as an adjustment to my go to swim jig and rage trailer if the fish were acting funny. I cant say that I would have this tied on in place of my go to. Having to trim the skirt up to accommodate the blade gave the jig an interesting look as well. I also think that this could easily replace the midnight special for you night time guys if you put a big thumper on the back of it. I will keep throwing it around to see when and where it works best, but my go to is that for a reason.
I'll just use a spinner bait instead.

What happened? I threw this contraption today and it spun the blade up in the skirt Cindy Lauper style
You have to trim the skirt right to the start of the blade.
^^^Ahh, thank you; I'll try again.

Can't fool me. Thats a Strike King Tour Grade Swim Jig, not a Dirty Jig. Nice try though.
Correct, i was not hacking up one of my dirty jigs to test this out lol.
My dirty jigs are too important to me

I call this the "Mona Lisa" effect. See it in a lot of sports...
Lol I have 4 colors in 2 size dirty jigs and the all get BLASTED. I have ordered duplicates in case a toothy critter has a go at it. I cannot do without those 4 swim jigs.

Good thinking! I am a huge fan of swim jigs also. In tournaments where frogs are a big player I will throw the swim jig behind people throwing frogs and get bit all the time.
Yessir, I am the youngest in my club. These fellas are set in ways that have done well for them in the past. I come behind them and MOP. They have started throwing it in front of me but they dont fish it like I do. I put it down and wait til they put it down. Pick it back up after they get into the groove and fill the box!
Ive made ones like that before as well. Looks great, swims great, and it will catch fish for you, for sure. I kinda came away from them just because I didnt find them to be any more productive than plastic trailers, and sometimes lacked versatility found in the plastics.
But, I will probably come back to using those again. You should try it with an Indiana blade.
No problem there, full blown tinkering now.
I used to just hang the blade + barrel swivel, onto the bend of the hook, and crimp it down. No need for trimming skirts then.
Im gonna try one out. They look good
It works. No doubt about it. Still like my rage trailer though.
I had terrible luck with jigs. I switched over to swim jigs and caught 3 nice ones right away. Haven't caught a single fish on them since.
Back to Senko's and Ika's.
