I need to learn how to block pop ups from one of our local retailers. I can assure you that the green Bass Mafia box is not happening.
Ok, I read that wrong (or right depending on your POV). I thought the subject line said, "Googan Poop"!

Darn, did I leave an "O" out?
I almost got "Googan Poop," yesterday (that phrase is going to stick now). I am sure they work, but seem a little too much $$ for me.
I get marketing, I get what they're doing, and I actually like MOST of it.
The thing about these brands coming out with "cool color" stuff, ya know the camo, bright greens, over-dramatic youtube videos, they're not trying to sell to you or I. They're tapping into the young market and that is GOOD!
My whole life fishing has been a slow decline, especially for younger kids. I see a lot of people my age and up fishing, but rarely see anyone in their teens out pounding water. If throwing some crazy color combos and boxes out there gets them into the sport, so be it.
But onto Googan baits. What a sham. The clamshell packaging is useless on worms. Why would I ever pay $6 for a 6 pack of worms? I can buy like 3 packs of 10 ct big bite baits for the same as one googan bait pack. I'm sure the hype will wear down like it always does and prices will come down to be competitive, or they don't and their bait company goes under. It's only propped up by hype right now. I think only two pros promote them, and it's painfully obvious it's only an investment for them and not a product they truly believe in. Or I could be wrong.
Out of all my fishing buddies, only one buys googan baits, and he's the newest of my group. So he's caught by gimmicks and youtube videos pretty easily, despite witnessing me pounding 5lbers all night on any of the cheapest worms I can find.
I picked one up because it was a nice box then I saw the 34.99 sticker on it and put it down. I like the black and red one better and it’s 20% cheaper

Exactly. $35 for the Googan Bass Mafia lime green box. $30 for the exact same Bass Mafia box in red.
The Googans have a good video on how “indestructible” these boxes are. They roll over it with cars, blast it with buckshot and shoot an arrow into it.
I would never give any of my money to these punk kids. One of them makes a habit of getting the cops called on him in his videos because he is fishing in illegal places, another one lives at home in mom's basement while he drives around $100,000 worth of pickup and boat.
$6 for a 6 pack of worms is a scam if I've ever seen one, but whatever you need to do to make money I guess.

I don't think kids and the younger market are buying bass mafia boxes though. Or 6 dollar bait packs. These guys all started out with cheap stuff...like most kids.
Not paying a premium just because it's a certain color and has their logo on it. I enjoyed watching some of their videos individually when they actually showed fishing and fishing techniques, more so than vlogging. Rob was one of the first YouTube fishing channels that I remember watching. Now I do about anything to avoid their clickbait thumbnails and videos. I don't plan on buying their overpriced Chinese baits, so I'm not watching videos where they are pushing their product to give them views. If it gets kids into fishing, so be it. But I've moved onto other channels that I feel like I actually learn something from.
Just a reminder guys, Googan baits and Bio spawn baits use the same patented rage tail. Different plastic formulations and scents, same tail.

Isn't it the same as the rage tail lineup? Not biospawn? Or does biospawn also use rage tail?

Both use the same patent number as the rage tail products. All of their baits that have the flanged tail will have the same patent number as the rage tail products. Different plastic formulations, scent and bait design are the subtle differences in the baits.

I did not know that about biospawn. I thought they designed their own flanged tail. Interesting. Thanks for the info.

No but their parents are. The market is targeted to spoiled upper middle class brats that get everything they want and follow every new fad that hits the market. Sorry, I usually keep opinions like this to myself, but I was at a local sporting goods once and they happened to be hosting one of the Googans and there were prebuscent mini-Justin Biebers everywhere. Literally thousands of them.
What a great way to make some money!
Maybe it will help the sport... but then again who really wants more fishing pressure? Haha
I remember watching videos when it was 1rod1reel and then the other guys came along. It was cool for a while then they all got too big for their britches and that is when I stopped watching. I now avoid all their products like the plague.

Which one lives in his mom's basement!? Peric just moved into a house in IL he had built, John B also bought a house in Texas. Flair has a huge property in Nebraska (plus a townhouse?). Lunker's just built a massive house.. they all seem to be doing quite well for themselves considering their ages.

Exactly, Steve Parks invented it and gets a cut of all these baits that use his parents. I believe he still works for Strike King as of today.
Googan's seem to be DB's to me,
This thread is filled with jealous individuals.

My thoughts exactly!
I'm raising a grandson who is turning 13 he watches Googan Squad on YouTube, He's mostly into LunkersTV
There's a lot worse on the internet he could be into!
Kids today are into wild & crazy tackle colors, I don't recall any of y'all bad mouthing Lew's Orange Crush.
If my grandson want a $6 pack of worms or $8-12 tungsten weights guess what...he earns the money.

Catt, my grandson is the same way. He likes all the wild colors too.
Considering that every thread title in this forum that has the word "Googan" in it gets a multitude of responses I'd say their marketing scheme works. I bought of pack of their craws and didn't like the consistency of the plastic. I' also don't watch their videos but I certainly don't begrudge them the $$ they are making via legal means........

And , he also earns the money for his own stuff too. So, grandpa let's him buy what he likes.

100% agree.
I never paid any attention to any YouTube fishing videos until a few I saw were either very helpful or entertaining. My feed started to get gunked up with googan squad types and I gave them a chance. But the more I watched the more insufferable they became. I expected their defenders to come out and start calling people jealous and haters but that is not the case. They are just everywhere based all on HYPE and marketing and it gets annoying. I find the old timer original product pushers such as Jimmy Houston, Rowland Martin, and Bill Dance in about the same boat, no offense but all they do is push and hawk products and is in my opinion what is wrong with the fishing industry.
I knew they were a bunch of self centered entitled brats when that stain flair was posting click bait after click bait of how "he had to quit YouTube" or "how his life is ruined" because of them demonetizing his videos. He even posted of how some DNR rules were changed during teal or duck season and how he got tickets from the game warden, it just kept going downhill with this type of drama filled nonsense. He then went on to cry, moan, and complain that they only way he "could put food on his table" was to post videos, now mostly infomercials, of him hunting, fishing, and playing video games on a streaming service called Twitch. Read that again. He was literally complaining he would have to "get a real job" because the unfair meanies demonetized a few of his videos and he could no longer "make money making fishing, hunting, and video game videos for US", thank you for your service young man. After him the most annoying one of the lot, peric, posted video after video of him getting kicked off of airplanes and hotels. I travel a fair amount for work and you have to do ALOT to get kicked off of airlines and hotels, regardless of what viral video you may see online of people getting escorted off. I am convinced this little brat is doing it on purpose for click bait videos. This is fishing? This is what you want your kids to watch and call role models? Come on, grow up lol. The only role model your kids should ever have is either you or your family.
So now you have these entitled self centered brats doing everything and anything to get more click bait videos that have nothing to do with fishing but more with drama and the absurd. They would also sneak around who knows where possibly trespassing to making fishing videos but anyone can tell that the whole point of them making the video was to get caught and kicked out to make more drama queen videos. Now following their lead there are at least two videos of kids either jumping into the fish tanks at BPS or throwing a lure, catching, and pulling out a big bass from the tanks there. All for the Gram Fam. That's what the kids say for doing anything to go viral on Instagram.
Now with all this going on and people following them like sheep, they have cultivated a very hard, loud, impudent, and sensitive cult followers. Don't believe me? Just try and go on their videos and make some apt but critical comment and see how they attack. None of the actual googans take the time to even bother reading or replying to the comments but their followers including grown men will jump at your throat for making any critique of them. Just sad.
The blatant shameless pushing of cheap, overpriced, foreign fishing gear is something I just can't get behind. I just couldn't believe how much those favorite rods were going for, they wanted almost top end pricing for their junk. Unreal. It turns out as in much of the fishing industry the googan baits, karl's tackle, favorite, etc. are all connected under the same parent company and have been for some time. This has essentially been a very effective viral marketing campaign targeted specifically for the fishing industry. I keep hearing people say that if it gets kids into fishing or the outdoors then that is fine and are providing a justification for it. But exactly what are they pushing or promoting? This isn't you, your grandpa, or uncle teaching your kids fishing this is using fishing to promote absurdity, products, drama, and an unquestioning fan/customer base. I almost think of Oprah when I think of them to be honest. As crazy as that sounds but they hang on every word and they can do no wrong and it isn't them but you for not following them unquestionably. So yes people who are critical can be considered "haters" or jealous or "jelly" if your hip, but it isn't without reason and justification. They are just intolerable, annoying, and insufferable. Call me hater I don't care.
The saddest part of this is how we all in America like to consider ourselves individuals and independent but this just proves to me how quick we are to desperately find some leader or hero to latch onto and be a part of some group. Oh yeah, last thing if I'm going to spend money I'll stick with the original Strike King lures instead of the knock offs.
They're stuff/style isn't for me, so I don't pay attention to them, problem solved.

Get off my lawn!!
Do you think these spoiled entitled brats created this environment or are they figuring out a way to succeed in it?
I find it sad how quickly the older generations blame the kids for the world that they were given.
Do you think its the kids that said hey use some cheap materials, exploit the foreign work rules, over price the product and lets reap the millions?
No, it's probably someone from your or my generation that saw all the followers these kids had and found a way to exploit them for their own personal gain.
Everybody wants to blame the kids that received the participation trophy instead of blaming the parents that gave them out.
If any one of us were a big name tournament or famous pro fisherman we would be trying to sell baits too. Like it or not, money is the motivator. If I were 20 or 21, and someone set me up in this business to make a fortune, I would have jumped on it. It would sure have beaten swinging a hammer in the hot sun, which I've done most of my life. We can't blame these young guys. This is America. The almighty dollar rules. Always has and always will. I won't buy their stuff or watch their videos, but my grandson watches them a little. If he has his way he'd be fishing a lime green rod, wearing a lime green shirt, and bright red shoes! This is what youngsters like these days. These boys are making money, pure and simple.
Like I said grown adult men will be one of the first to come out and defend them to the nth degree. Haha. Was only a matter of time. Maybe my post was long but if you read it carefully you will see my problem with these little egomaniacs is how and what they are doing, it is NOT just fishing or little adventures but DRAMA and the ABSURDITY that they will keep pushing. As they keep getting bigger they will have to make outrageous videos to keep things fresh and new and that is what they are doing now. Getting kicked off of airplanes for unruly behavior or getting kicked out of hotels is not I want to see or think I would want my kids or niece/nephew to watch. It makes good video click bait but that is it and I'm not going to support it and will voice my opinion about it too.
There are several fishing youtube videos that has guys out there just fishing. They aren't ticking people off or getting into arguments or just doing stupid stuff to get people to watch them. I watch this guy called Realistic Fishing, you can call it boring but all he does is fish the same few public lakes he has access to and just tells it how it is, no boat and nothing fancy. He even went out of his way and by himself cleaned up the ENTIRE PARK of trash that careless and trashy park goers and fisherman littered. He reads his fan mail and does giveaways. See the difference? That little stain peric got kicked out of the hotel, and I can guarantee you it was is his own fault and we didn't see it in his selectively edited video, then his entire sheeple cult followers try and start a boycott of the hotel. For what?!!? For the employees doing their job?! GROWN MEN were emailing their companies saying they will no longer be using this particular hotel because their internet child fishing hero was an absolute jerk and the manager decided to have them removed. It was just sad, my jaw literally dropped. I can see his teeny bopper followers getting mad but the grown men getting bent out of shape was just pathetic. I guess we all need heroes.
I just don't get it. These kids were also from relatively "well off" families. These kids were not struggling or came from true "working class" living paycheck to paycheck roots. I just have so much more respect for kids that can pull themselves up with their own bootstraps and get it done. The house that Jon B lived in with his parents is a very nice house and is in a very well off neighborhood. They had almost every advantage in the world. A guy I used to work with while we were both going to community college was just getting by like me, loved photography. Saved enough for a beat up Leica camera held together with duct tape, got it cheap since it was practically broken, incredibly successful photographer now. Gotta respect those who know the struggle and rely on themselves and not on mommy and daddy. Just can't get behind these kids or any of their products or any of their hype.
