Please just give your favorite swimbait and maybe why.
This thread is not for paddletail/shad body comments. Thanks
Academy H2O because they are the only hardbodied ones I have tried. Does a Huddleston Deluxe count? I know it's not a hard body but I fish and love those too.
Im new to the swimbait scene but so far I am really liking my SPRO BBZ 1 Shad in Slow Sink... the fish seem to love it, although they miss it alot. I have also used a castaic swimbait but didn't like it as much.
Spro BBZ-1 Shad.
The action on this thing is fantastic!!!!!! It is also very durable and the paint jobs are second to none.
Not sure if it counts as an actual swimbait, but I gave it to you anyway.
apparently "not for paddletail/shad body comments" isn't clear enough, Russ...
I have a couple different "actual" swimbaits and so far my favorite is the slammer. I like it because of the way fish hit it. I don't know if it's the squeak or the double jointed action (I have the XX) but fish just annihilate it.
The ones that I make
Fish Arrow Monster Jack, why ? gee, I don 't know, I just like it. Ok, for me it draws lots of strikes ( caught many fish smaller than the bait itself, which only proves that bass many times have a bigger mouth than brains ), also I like the sound it makes.
There are a couple, each serving a different purpose for me.
I like my 3:16 Wake Jr's/Baby wake for clearer water and when a more subtle approach seems warranted.
I like the 9" Slammer for fishing at night or in stained up water. Those things push some serious water.
If I had to pick just one for all around use, it would likely be the Mattlures Hard Bluegill. Swims nice, looks just like the real thing and it gets bit.
BTW, still waiting......
My favorites are the ones i make. But out of ones u can buy its gonna be the mattlures hard gill.
Wake Jr - Why? It just flat out works. It's one of my go to swimbaits
M.S. Slammer at night... don't like the idea of throwing a $90 bait at the bank at night :-?)
I REALLY like the new 3:16 Born Again Armageddon. Haven't caught any fish on it, but it is a sexy bait. It is very versitil, twitch it, deadstick it, crank it, wake it, etc
Oh and by far my favorite swimbait is the 4" Money Minnow. : : :
My one of a kind 3:16 Armageddon
My other one of a kind 3:16 Armageddon
or my one of a kind 3:16 Wake Bait.
I like the tru-tungsten 4" tru-life in blue gill and baby bass. If they made a yellow perch version I'd have a few of those for sure.
Haven't tried a heavier version yet as I don't have a dedicated swim bait rod.
I saw the new SPRO BBZ-1 shad at the shop today, debated buying it but passed on it until I could read some reviews. Glad to see you are all liking it, I may grab it then.
I just got Triton Mike's Bull Shad (4pc) a few weeks ago. Haven't stuck anything on it yet but the action is great. Pretty versatile bait that swims well at all speeds.
But there is just something about a clackin' wake bait...baby wake gets my vote.
mattlure's hardgill ...... male BG floater.
have the red ear sunfish in a floater as well,
but tend to throw the BG pattern most often.
Do wild shiners and bluegills count as swimbaits? ;D
Mattlures Swimbaits Hard Bluegill (Male)
Wonderful lure.
Triple Trout and Ms Slammer.
They work great and between the two I can cover almost every situation.
Lunker Punker Jr. Although only 6.5" it still gets big bites and doesn't scare away average fish. Gotta love topwater!
this one:
because i like the size and weight of it, i think it looks cool, and the action is terrific.
7'' Tru-Life

I'll take 3.

Dave made that, muddy.
Bizz, you're a funny dude. ;D
Ah, I am sorry, deleting posts, not my intention.

I try. But it really bums me out when people knock something that I made, so I deleted mine as well.
hmm i seem to have missed out on the funny :-? ;D
sure it looks rougher than the mass produced stuff but I think Dave's bait looks like a fish catcher.
Mattlures all the way! Most realistic looking and best action around!!!!!
There are so many that I like. I suppose if I had to choose one, it would be Matt's Hardbait Bluegill. They rock!
Bizz- No worries, those who criticize obviously haven't seen your photo album, don't sweat the haters.
Brannus- One thing to help find the baits at night (remember, I'm only using wake baits-floating lures) is to put a reflective sticker on the head. I have a silver prism 1/2 in circle sticker on the head of my other bait I'm using at night. Broke it off once so far, swung the spot light towards the area and it jumped right out at me. These will now be a staple on my boat and each bait I sell will come with the sticker in the pkg if the angler chooses to use it.

Cool idea Russ, never thought about that. I might have to give it a try. Thanks
Thanks Russ, but I was misleading, I never put up a picture of my baits, I was just sticking up for another bait builder.

I meant the pictures of your fish! lol
