Agree on both.

I've had good success dragging the Damiki Hydra. I fish it more than a shaky head now.

Here's a video on the action -

fishing user avatarYeajray231 reply :

Kut tail is what I started using... I quickly noticed you can "neko" just about anything. From rage craw to a super fluke.

Grandebass air tail rattler was shown to me and is a winner on this rig big time .

fishing user avatarFisher-O-men reply :

4" Yum Dinger.  I'll bet it looks a lot like a Ned Rig.

fishing user avatareyedabassman reply :

I like to take a Netbait Baby or the Paca craw or a Strike King Rage craw and Neko them.It is going to put the big girls in the boat! I use little rubber bands that they use to put on with braces at a dentist office ( my wife worked there ). Or go and take a craw with you to the hardware store and match up some rubber O rings. It is just deadly with the craw as it looks to get away or trying to find a hole!

fishing user avatarA-Jay reply :

 BioSpawn PlasmaTail ~ 6.5 inch

Reins Bubbling Shaker ~ 5 & 7 inch

Reins Swamp Mover ~ 6.5 inch

Zoom Magnum Trick Worm ~ 7 inch

And for something a little outside the box -

The Missile Baits Tomahawk & 6 inch Jackall Scissor Comb both present a really different deal on the Neko rig.

I feel the same about the "ned rig" lol . Regardless, can't you play ball and tell us what your favorite "nail weight rig" is ?

fishing user avatarWRB reply :

Having fished nail weight worms wacky hooked for over 40 years, it was one of the first finesse presentations. Today we have weedless wacky and drop shot hooks instead of Sealy squid hooks and tungsten or lead nail weight instead of pieces of solder. I use floating 6" worms, 3/32 oz nail weight and size 1 Owner weedless wacky hook on 7 lb Sniper FC  spinning tackle. I cut 1/4" off the worms nose end so it's flat and insert the nail weight. The hook is wacky style about 1" from the nose. Iovino or Uptons straight tail worms, the tail split 1". 90% of the strikes occur as the worm sinks or after it's hopped once. If you are getting strike on a drag, change to a split shot / slip shot rig, it's more productive.

Plasma tail!

fishing user avatarMaster Bait'r reply :

Slug-go SS.  Whippiest tail ever, bigger head accepts weight and hook well and the slightest wiggle sets the thing off into convulsions.

I feel like like nobody uses them, but they are an absolute staple in my tackle box.  Pick up a few, you will never regret it!!

fishing user avatarBassThumb reply :

Z-Man Zinkers rigged with a o-ring. They float, so the tip of the plastic stays nice and tall, wriggling with every pebble you drag it across. By far the best Neko rig bait I've tried.

I think the Z-Man Fattyz would work well with the Neko Rig as well. I've thrown the Fattyz on a shakey head and done pretty well. I'm almost positive its that bulbous tail that get them. I have one rigged up and going to try this weekend.

Daiwa Yamamoto Neko Fat I wanna try.

fishing user avatarPaBassMan13 reply :

Being somewhat new to the Neko rig I decided to follow the advice of John Crews. I use a Missile Baits Fuse 4.4 with a 1/16 oz. weight and a size #1 Berkley Fusion Drop Shot Hook. So far it has worked very well for me. I can certainly recommend this to folks from my successes.

Buddha Baits Swagger Worm that I got from MTB, but I'm going to try @BizzBaits's Dizzy Diamond the next time we're out. I had completely forgotten that I have a couple packs of them in my bag. Whoops.

Are those in the order that you like them

@jmcarriere ~

Not in any order - just a list.

I’ll admit that I am Far from a Neko Rig expert - what I have found is that the Neko rig is a decent ‘finesse-way’ to cover water ( relatively quickly) and has accounted for some nice numbers of fish and the occasional plus size bass.

However, when I have located bass in an area or spot, and they are eating a bait presented in this manner, most any Neko rigged bait that is the same size & shape (and sometimes color) will also illicit strikes.

So there is most likely many effective additions that could be made to my list.

These are the ones that I have had decent success with in the clear waters I fish.

YMMV

I like the Yum Swim-N-Dinger. That swimbait paddle tail it has really works well as a Neko Rig.

fishing user avatarfishballer06 reply :

Gene Larew Tattle Tale (6 & 8" versions)

Grande Bass Airtail Wiggler (6.5")

GYCB Senko 5"

Berkley Shakey Snake

fishing user avatarChrisD46 reply :

Lots of good answers here , whether you call it a nail rig or Neko rig - the absolute best I have found is a Zoom Magnum Finesse Worm in Watermelon Candy color , VMC 1/0 Neko hook and a VMC 1/16th oz. VMC Half Moon Wacky Weight , #8 lb. FC leader , #15 lb. braid main line  ... I would enter this set up on: "Dancing With The Stars" !

fishing user avatarbma3 reply :

My go to is just a 6in roboworm. I use those 99% of the time.

fishing user avatarfishwizzard reply :

6" Jelly Worms and 8" Producto Torunment Worms.

Soft, super boyant, super cheap.  I don't do much shakyhead fising but they are my goto for that as well.

fishing user avataraatwofour reply :

Berkley Havoc Bottom Hopper

BioSpawn PlasmaTail

Zoom Trick Worm

All three will get the job done

Adding Zoom Magnum Finesse Worm too - very good also !

fishing user avatarMontanaro reply :

Gambler ace or paddle tale worm.

Had most success with the ace (senko) and i see no reason to experiment with smaller baits.
