KVD line conditioner.....I stopped using it. Anyone else? 2024

fishing user avatar32251 reply :

I found that after you finish fishing and store the rod/reel till the next fishing trip---say a week or two- the line is in awful shape. All kinked up and hard.  Anyone else?

fishing user avatarroadwarrior reply :

No.

I have been using it for two years or so and never

experience any negative consequences of any kind.

In fact, I HIGHLY recommend KVD Line & Lure Conditioner.

fishing user avatarHammer 4 reply :

Never had that problem, however, since I switched to Yozuri hybrid ultrasoft, I stopped using my kvd conditioner, cuz the line really didn't need it.. :D If for some strange reason I switched back to another line, I'm sure I would begin using the kvd again

I've voiced my opinions on this before and am in the very small minority.  I just do not see the benefits of this stuff.  I wont go so far as to say it hurts my line performance but I definately have not realized any noticeable benefits.

I've given it an honest try too.  Used it several outings and just nothing different about my line.

I noticed this too with P-Line Flouroclear, it seems dry and stiff, almost like it would crack if bent, also it looked swollen but everything seems good as new with a few more squirts but It doesn't sit right with me

fishing user avatarJ Francho reply :

I don't see that issue, but I retreat after each trip, per the instructions.  I have a suspicion that what you are seeing is dried debris from the water.  I used to see this even before using KVD L&L, especially on fluoro.  I pretreat the filler spools before spooling up the reels, and some are at least a year old, adn they look as good as the day after I treated them.

Yep. I've repeatedly stated my fluorocarbon gets worse. I hate the stuff. If I had the receipt I would send it back for my money. I HIGHLY recommend you throw it in the trash.

fishing user avatarTin reply :

If you use a good line from the get-go you won't need a line conditioner.

Agreed. YoZuri....good line. Still looks awful after using this stuff.

In the garage right next to my car when I get home.  Sometimes I don't even get it out of the car. No matter...still looks and feels awful after a week or so.  I am finished with this stuff.  I am not going to get hooked  to the point where when I put it on my line I have to keep putting it on or the line goes to crap.

Goes into the round file!! All I needed was one other person who had the same trouble.  I use flurocarbon.

fishing user avatarKenny418 reply :

I'm with the minority on this one. When I was using P-line and tried the kvd it does something to the line after about a week. I store my rods on my boat deck in my garage. When I would go to use them the line would be alot stiffer and would look milky. I have since switched to Segaur, but I haven't tried kvd with it. I dont know if it works or not, but I do just fine with out it.

fishing user avatarMicro reply :

I've used it precisely as directed and found it to have next to no benefit. IMO, it's more trouble than its worth.

32251 - I've spoken to Rob Faddis, owner of the company, about your issue, and he tells me that he has heard of this happening in rare cases, yet nobody has been willing to send him the affected line so that he can investigate.  Would you be willing to send that line to him?

He said he is more than willing to give you a 100% refund either way. He's a stellar guy that takes care of his customers.

Line is gone in the trash, weeks ago and so is the KVD line juice---tonight.  If I had known he wanted a sample then I would have been glad to send it to him.  Glad that others have had good luck with this product. I and a few others seem to be in the minority.  I will not be using it anymore. That certainly is not to encourage others not to.  I caught plenty of fish the last two weeks without it, so I figure I don't need it anyway.

fishing user avatarSirSnookalot reply :

IMO nothing works better than soaking your line in a bucket of water, preferably hot, obviously water won't hurt your line as that is the intent of the line.....to be in water.

If one truly believes that this stuff works use it, but I see no reason to.  I think buying the banjo minnow is a better investment.

fishing user avatarfourbizz reply :

I truly think that it affects knot strength.

I stopped using it about six months ago, after a few mysterious break offs. The bad part was, they were fish on 8-10 inch swimbaits. So not only big fish gone, but a couple hundred dollars worth of baits too. Hasnt happened since I stopped using the stuff.

Im not gonna flat out say that L&L was the problem, but it definitely hurt my confidence in my gear.

fishing user avataraceman387 reply :

i bought one bottle and didn't notice anything different with my line SO never bought it anymore.

fishing user avatarChuck H. reply :

Just last week I re-spooled some BPS XPS flouro. on my reels that had been on there since the beginning of the year. The line was treated with Line & Lure before every trip and was still in perfect condition. I just re-spooled due to a couple of big tournaments coming up and not wanting to take a chance on nicks in the line I wasn't aware of. All I know is that Line & Lure works for me.

Obviously, I am not catching fish as big as the ones you have out there but I havent noticed an issue.

I cant imagine the CXX without it.   :-/

Didnt you break those off during your line experiment?

fishing user avatarFive-Alive reply :

my partner purchased some earlier this year and we have both been using it with no problems.

fishing user avatarValkyrieRider reply :

I use it everytime I go out. Definite increase in casting distance.

fishing user avatarWillzx225 reply :

I've been using it for a couple of years and wouldn't consider using fluro without it.  Also works great on depth finder screens and sunglasses.

fishing user avatarRob Faddis reply :

Hey everyone,

We are really sorry to hear that some of you are experiencing problems with Line & Lure. As Glenn said, we have heard a handful of times over the last 5 years of people who have had some issues with their line while using our line conditioner. In a majority of cases that we have been able to investigate, we have found that the customer had contaminated the line with a reel oil or cleaning solvent. In some cases, our product was confused with another oil based line conditioner that did deteriorate the line. In other cases we have found that the line was damaged from abrasion during use or was deformed during the manufacturing process (it happens) or that the manufacturer released a bad batch of line that was inherently defective.

We do extensive tests with most popular lines and we have found that even with extensive exposure to Line & Lure (soaked in if for days, etc.), the line tested was still within the factory specs for breaking strength, overall diameter and ductility and showed nothing but positive effects from the treatment. We have had the product tested by many of the major line companies and have never had any of them indicate compatibility issues with the use of Line & Lure on their lines. This is not to say that as new lines come out or manufacturers change the chemical formulas of their lines we will not find a line that might be negatively affected but as of this date, we have not found any line that is damaged by Line & Lure use.

You can imagine that with the 10 of thousands of people that use Line & Lure there will be a few that will not find the benefits that we claim the product offers. Unfortunately there is no way to get to the bottom of these issues comprehensively because in most cases we do not get a chance to examine the line or to understand the customers usage or habits.

We whole-heartedly believe that Line & Lure is the best and safest line conditioner produced. We stand behind the benefit claims we make with a no questions asked money back guarantee on the product. We encourage anyone that has experienced line problems with Line & Lure use to contact us and discuss the issues they are having. Your assistance may help find an answer to your issue and will help us in the continuing development of Line & Lure.

I hope this helps.

Thanks,

Rob Faddis, President

fishing user avatarfishfordollars reply :

I've used it since it came out and have no problems.

I apply it when I spool a reel. I change line after a days fishing if it is used much at all so I cannot speak to using it on a spool that has been on for weeks or months.

Personally, other than braid, it would scare me to fish a reel that has had the line on it for a month. JMO.

fishing user avatarOnthePotomac reply :

A great product.  I go through two bottles a season on mono, floro and braid.  It works great and my line is always ready to go.  No kinks, no breaks no anything.  I hose down my spools with it after my spools have dried out and before I go out again.  It has to be applied to dried spools to be most effective.  Shake before using.
