When did you all get your first fishing boat? What was the make and model? Did you get an amazing deal on it? You can even include jon boats if you want.
I got a 15ft tracker aluminium Jon boat with a 9.9 Merc. (Boat and trailer were brand new). Cost me 2,000 dollars of my hard earned money when I was 16 I'm 18 now.

If that boat could talk-----You'd be a rich man! ;D
Sounds great! I'm looking for my first boat. I'll take a jon or a fixer upper old fishing boat- anything really. I've been searching craigslist like crazy :.
I used my 1999 income tax refund to buy a Nova 1436 jonboat and trailer and a 30 lb motorguide trolling motor.

Yeah! lol...It would tell that the 7 pounder was actually 2.5 and my girlfriends best friend....thats another story.
I was 20 (22 years ago) got a 14" Jon boat 5hp and trailer for $500 sold it 8 years later for $450
about 7,8 years ago I bought a 15' Thundercraft with a 70hp and trailer included. I only paid $300 for the whole thing. A buddy clean the carbs out and the motor ran great. I had to install new electrical wires and lights. New floor, pedestal, and seats. A new rack and pinion steering cable. I might put close to $800 into but well worth it. Ran for three years and got my money out of it. Motor blew a ring. I used that boat for fishing and swimming. I still have the boat and hope to get running this year. I used that boat for croakers and catfish.
Twelve foot Sears jon boat, and a pair of oars.
Circa 1966.
I got my fathers 12foot sears v hull its hundred years old but still floats
14' Jon boat with a 20 horse Johnson in 1994.
1972 16' Mark Twain Tri-Hull with a 65hp Evinrude. It had a push button "Selectric" shifter (I think that's what it was called). Bought it for $1600 and rode it hard for several years. Great little boat. The floor eventually rotted and I sold it for $600 to a friend with a body shop. He removed the cap, replaced the stringers and floor, and got another 10 years out of it.
I need to find a picture of that boat. Great memories.
16' Alumacraft semi-vee rowboat.
Didn't get a boat until early 2010 when I was 57 years old...and it's a canoe. Radisson 12', 34 pounds.
10 ft bassraider with trailer. boat had more silicone holding it together than an L.A. housewife.
paid $0.00
Still wish I had it........ its been 6 years
My father and I bought a 2002 Tracker Pro-Angler V16 w/ a 25hp motor a couple years ago. We got a pretty sweet deal. The guy had it sitting in his drive-way the whole time he owned it. Just started re-carpeting it yesterday.
My first boat was home built by my dad from wood, next was aluminum built by Ouachita Jon Boats, & my first tournament boat was a Loweline Hustler.
My first outboard was a Johnson Sea King 5 hp

You every think about customizing your rig? Looks like a plain ol' canoe to me ;D
First boat was a bass hunter w/ original 19# thrust trolling motor and seats. Paid $50 for it used and still use it for pond fishing, although i did upgrade to a 31# trolling motor .

You're right - it's just plain as dirt. I need to figure out how to get on a nautical version of "Pimp My Ride"... ;D ;D
Bought a brand new Tracker 14' jon. Customized the crud out of it. Rear and front casting decks. full electronics setup, bilge pump, nav lights, redneck live well. Loved that boat and it saw some serious mileage on the lake.
Course I love my PT 175 now even more
1976 - 10' Monarch with a 3 hp Chief with the gas tank in the top of the motor.
Got my first boat when I was 9 years old. A 14' Sea King semi V with two "wooden outboards" (a.k.a. oars) Paid $300 for boat and trailer. It was a few years old when I bought it.
Just sold it 5 years ago after I got my Strat. Wish I still had that little old boat just for nostalgia if nothing else. But the wife can't understand why a man needs one boat let alone two. ;D
When I was in highschool my dad got me a 1952 (I think) 14ft row boat. It had a huge dent in it and a hole in the floor. He patched it up, banged the dent out and painted it red. Strapped on a 7.5hp Merc and it was mine. Even got the old lady next door to let me use her boat lift since her husband had passed and she didn't even have a boat anymore. I caught a ton of fish from that thing, I named it "The Red Torpedo." Sold it when I joined the Army.

I bought a crawdad 8foot 2 man boat when I was 11 for 50 bucks. Paid for it with change I could find and my 5 dollar a week allowance. The guy I bought it from was nice enough to let me make payments! ;D Tons of fish caught out of that little boat and it was almost all silicone, expanding foam, and gorilla glue by the time I got rid of it.
My first and only boat (technically its my dad's boat, but I'm the only who ever uses it) is a 16' Grumman square stern canoe. I'm hoping to get something a little more suitable for some of the larger lakes around here this summer.
16 foot 1980 Lund pike with console and a 35HP evinrude. Purchased in 1994 for $2500.
A 12' aluminun jon I got from a buddy's dad for $50. A couple of truck mudflaps for floor panels and a dinky Minn Kota and I was on my way...

It is a 1990 Procraft Stalker 150... 40hp merc motor.. tops out at about 29mph.. not real fast but good enough for now.. i wish it had more storage on it but for a 15ft boat I can't complain..

Had a 10ft Jon boat with a small Minn kota. My girlfriend (now wife) lived in a lake community. We would pick it up at her parents house after school and strap it down to the top of my chevette to get it to the lake. 8-)
Had $300 in the boat ,motor and car.
Trying to find my first boat........ :-[
My very first boat was my Mako 171, taught me a lot about responsibility and seamanship, also had a lot of great memories on it . Not a bass boat but that didn't stop me from taking it on the lake:
This one is my first boat. I just bougth it one month a go. Is a Bass Tracker Pro Team 175 TXW 2007 with a Mercury 60HP FourStroke EFI. Trolling motor 46 pounds. I pay $9,500.00 Was a deal??

I put off a boat purchase until I was 54. Not a lot of incentive when you live in Southern AZ! Finally pulled the trigger and got a Crestliner Canadian 18' w/Yamaha 60. I've towed it to Florida twice and now have it stored about 7 miles from the lake I fish. Very happy with it.
My first boat was purchased in 1964. a 10-foot Appleby aluminum jon boat from White-Modell's.
I don't recall the price but it was powered by Caviness oars, and used for angling and waterfowling.
A year later, I clamped on an air-cooled 5-HP Eska outboard that set me back $100.
I'm now on my 13th boat, but that 10-ft Appleby is still among my favorites.

Nice...i will be looking for you on the water...should not be hard with that color!
I bought my first in 1960. It's a 17' aluminum Grumman canoe and I bought it used and paid $40. I said it's, because I still have it.

I should probably be looking for YOU since I've never really fished the bigger lakes of central IL. Clinton, Decatur, Springfield haven't spent anytime on them in the past. I'm very much looking forward to getting that baby home soon!
My first and only boat is a 1994 MonArk Aluminum Bass Boat. I think its 16 1/2 foot. Has a 40 HP Force Motor on it. We are the third owner. Purchased it in 2003 or 2004 I think. We're looking to upgrade one day to maybe a Bass Tracker.
Mine was a sea-nymph 14R. i got it for $400 added switchboard, lights and eagle fishfinder. i was given a Merc. 9.8hp that didn't run right, replaced the impeller and cdi box and never had a problem with it. i put a Minnkota transom mount trolling motor on and she did me right for about 6 years of fishing till i got sick of fishing from the back - nice memories though. oh yeah sold it for $1200 ,she did me well
Just got my first boat last week. It's a Lowe Little Jon, 1232. I know it's small but it is what I was looking for to fish small ponds. It came with a trailer, 3hp Sears Gamefisher, 24 lb Minn Kota trolling motor, anchor, and oars. $400. I think I got a pretty good deal. I'm gonna use it this year and see what I like and dont like about it. Then next year I'll probably sell it and get somthing a little wider, maybe 1236.
12' jon with a 2hp gamefisher outboard., she gets me from a to b, and goes places bigger bass boats cant. im happy with it
