Answer: Does good on 10 to 20 lb striped bass. Not sure about 40 lb fish. I like the tool alot.

Ishbu Shigugua : Grip is a bit weak, and the Scale loves to eat through batteries

Grips work great, even for bigger fish though they do feel a bit weak.

The scale on the other hand.... I cant seem to get this thing to last more than one outing on a set of batteries. Even having not used it after replacing the batteries, I return to it and the batteries are dead.
Not sure if I got a bad unit or what, but it's been pretty useless so far.
