Answer: Use something like a dinner knife and slip it under the PLUS end of the device to sort of pry it open. If you scroll down on the product page you can see a video of how to do it. You can also use your finger to apply downward and backwards (away from the device) to slide the cover off. It is difficult but can be done. Once you succeed once you will be able to do it thereafer. I really like this idea. We are constantly running out of, or breaking chip clips. I used a magnetic hook to hang the device conveniently on the refrigerator. It does seal the packages, but I often have to repeatedly go over the surface to get it sealed. Overall, I think I am more impressed by the idea of this product than I am the use of the product. I use it for now, but I can easily see myself going back to chip clips in the future.

I just got this today (thanks 1-day shipping) and it's a REALLY good pump for the price. Easy to switch from Schrader to Presta valves. I pumped up both mine and my wife's road bikes (presta valve) very quickly. The pump is also compact and easy to attach to your bike. Just a great little pump. I researched a lot of this style of pump before settling on this one based on the reviews and I am not disappointed. It performs like the $30 compact pumps out there. You also get a small tire tube repair kit. I haven't used it yet, but good to know I can take that along with me in case it's needed in an emergency. I highly recommend this product and seller. I paid full price for this product and I'm not receiving anything for this review, I just think it's that good!

I purchased this tool because I was having to use a whole bag of clothes pins to close my different snack bags. The device has a cutter on one end and the sealer on the other. The arrows pointing to different ends I found to be confusing. The way I know which end is the cutter and which is the sealer is the cutter end has black pads and the sealer end has white pads.
I only needed one sealer so I am giving away the other one. My pantry looks much more organized now that my bags don't have clips on them.

This little easy to use tool works pretty good. I first used cheap batteries and it didn't seem to heat very well. so I put in some good quality batteries and it worked just as described. It warmed up fast and it sealed the plastic package good, in one swipe. The little cutter on the other side is a nice little extra. Good value for the money.

Terrific little pump. Screws in securely to presta valve. (The easy way to screw it in is to rotate the whole pump while you hold the connector in place.) I was pumping a big tire with a lot of pressure and the pump handled it fine. I would give 6 stars if I could by going above and beyond with the tire changing tabs. So easy to use.

I love this little gadget. It hangs on my cabinet where it is always handy, and it's easy to use. It doess have a slight learning curve, as different bag thicknesses and materials may require different pressure and speed. To open, you can either use the cutter-end or just pull apart. It seals better than twist-ties or rubber bands, and I think it also keeps your snacks, cereal, etc fresher. Plus mine was a two-pack so the second one was a great gift for my sister!

This product doesn’t consistently work. When sealing it doesn’t seal all the way across, it leaves sections unsealed so air and moisture will spoil your chips. Very disappointed. I would’ve returned these, but I bought them as a fun present to my family for finishing the kitchen remodel and forgot I bought them. I’ve tried sliding it fast and slow, holding the heat button longer or shorter. Pain the behind going over and over in the same bag of chips only to find that it left a gap and now your Cheetos aren’t crunchy.

So I bought this product because we always have chips or open bags that you can taste go stale. It is not the best thing to get home and want some and you taste them. Think about it, it ruins the taste for quite a while. I am very impressed though. We first got it and I sat there with no hope for it thinking this is going to be one of those things I will have forever, that will never work. But I figured I would give it a shot. It was difficult to use at first but what isn't when you first get it. If you hold it their longer you will have better luck with it. Slowly use the heater side pushing it across the bag and you should like it so much more. Keep in mind it takes time to get it perfect. The quicker you go the less you are letting it do its job. I would recommend this product to others like I have my friends and family including, that one grandma that you see every weekend that tells you don't forget to bring it with you. But now it stays at home because she is going to get one of her own. It is not for when you are in a rush it takes time but you will get the hang of it and love it as much as me and my grandma do!

I have not been able to get this product to work properly. It is difficult to slide along bags. Using the suggested time does not heat up the plastic enough to seal, going longer it gets too hot and melts the entire bag. Would not recommend

This product was easy to use. A couple of taps to get the heating element going and zip, zip you're sealed! I would recommend sealing from the middle out for larger bags. After a week my chips were still crispy. I recommend this product.

These work as intended, you just have to know how to use it properly. Hold on edge of bag you want to close, count to five, then slide across. Just be careful, if you wait too long, will burn a hole through the bag! Keeps our bags shut, even a thick tortilla bag from Costco closed shut! The only negative is the holder used to hook to a cabinet. The teenage kids open and shut doors violently, and it came off very easily. We don't bother keeping it hung up anymore, just keep in the drawer.

I was tired of opening bags of crackers and chips and then having them become stale and soggy becasue they were not sealed properly. This little tool is the perfect solution! Just press down on one end to activate the heating element and slide it across the cellophane packaging to reseal it. Easy enough for kids to do. Does not work on some bag surfaces like paper with a coated interior lining but works on most others bags. It even has a convenient hook so that you can hang in in your cabinet for quick retrieval.

This mini bike pump is perfect for my mountain bike. The main things that make this bike pump the perfect tool to carry is the size, the included bracket, both presta & schrader value compatibility, no logos on the pump, and it works. I've used this pump a couple of times already and it has worked well.
I really like how compact this is on my water bottle cage, and the fact that it's all black with no logos makes for a very clean & sleek look. I will definitely pick up another pump for my other bike now that I know this one is reliable.

I bought this to make small pouches for all of my daily pills and vitamins for home and when I travel. Saves me time to grab a single pouch and even take one with me if I’m running late. At first I didn’t think it was working right. What I found was on clear plastic bags you need to literally melt off the excess as you slide the sealer. The edge then seals properly as you slide it. I haven’t had an opportunity to use it on bags of snacks yet, but I’m sure it will work just as good.

I purchased thinking this was seriously cool. The first few times it definitely worked. I tried storing it by hanging it on the chip cabinet, so it was easily accessible and there to be used when needed. However, it has since then sorta been shoved in a drawer and not used. I attempted to use it on the cat food bag and it did not work. I attempted to use it on other bags that were not chip bags and it did not work. It does work on the chip bags but honestly, we go through those like crazy so they are opened again fairly quickly after sealing.

This was touted as one of the best things to buy on Amazon. Well I'm a sucker. I fell for it. I tried it on several different bags of potato chips. My son also tried it thinking I was doing it wrong. I was skeptical at first. i have tried many hand-held pumps and they did not work. but the Mempedont portable mini pump worked great. it is light weight pump that attaches to your bicycle so that is handy when you need it. easy to carry and use. it is solidly built and so reliable . I have used it to inflate my bicycle tires as well as my son's trail bike. I was able to inflate my road bike tire in less than a minute. it is capable of inflating the tire up to 100PSI. it comes with an emergency tire repair packets that i am yet to use. the pump comes with small hose that screws firmly to your tire for proper inflation of the tire without stressing the tire stem. Love this pump. I fully recommend it.

This product doesn’t consistently work. When sealing it doesn’t seal all the way across, it leaves sections unsealed so air and moisture will spoil your chips. Very disappointed. I would’ve returned these, but I bought them as a fun present to my family for finishing the kitchen remodel and forgot I bought them. I’ve tried sliding it fast and slow, holding the heat button longer or shorter. Pain the behind going over and over in the same bag of chips only to find that it left a gap and now your Cheetos aren’t crunchy.
D. Schneider : Don't waste your money
I opened the package and read the directions. There were no directions on how to install the batteries and doing so proved difficult. I found a video on the product page and a Q and A on the same page that helped. I installed the batteries (not supplied). Following the directions, I tried 8 times to seal a Frito's bag. I held the heat end down for 5 seconds each time (as directed) and then slowly drew the heating end across the bag. There wasn't even as much as a mark where the sealer had been. It sealed NOTHING. Too bad, it sounded like a good gadget. Don't waste your money.
Mr. N : Good value for a lightweight compact bike pump
Pretty neat basic bike pump. Small enough to fit in a pocket or in my underseat bike pack. Seems pretty light weight and compact so if that is important to you, this checks those boxes. Durability has yet to be determined as we've only used it one time so far. Does the job although the compact size means a short stroke so it takes a few minutes and a little sweat to pump up a flat tire. Overall good value for my money.

This product is exactly as described! I love it! It works perfect to seal my Color Street nail strips that can easily dry out if left out. My nail strips are now secure! For the 1 person that gave this product 1 star... I would have to say that was due to operator error, not product deficiency! I highly recommend this product!

My mom gave me a giant electric vacuum sealer that works amazing, but it takes up so much room and is always in the way. I bought these little sealers so that I could seal stuff without having a giant appliance to store. These work ok. The seal is super skinny and I find smaller items work the best. Big things are just hard to get a hold of. I wish the seal was a little thicker, so you could tell it is working. The seal so skinny that it almost seems like it isn't working. But it seems to. Price and size are a 5 stars, usage compared to a larger item is less impressive. I do use it for my color street nails to reseal and it works for that (I hope). I haven't decided if I'm going to get a different small sealer. For now, I'll keep this. It came with 2, so I'll probably gift one.

The hook to hang it is convenient. It doesn’t get lost in a drawer full of gadgets. I didn’t realize it had a cutter on one end. I bought it just to seal bags ???? It’s just 2 of us in the house now and it takes awhile to use up an entire bag of anything. This is handy for us.

At first I was about to complain about the ambiguous instructions, but really, it's well designed enough that you can just sorta figure it out, so yeah- this pump is dummy-proof. Even a dummy like me could assemble it in the middle of a conference call.
Randolph : Nice to have with you and works pretty good
For me this is in my emergency tire repair kit for my bike. Have had two flats in the last 3 weeks all from little thorns along the trail. This this stores nicely on the bike and after patching the tire will get you up to riding pressure in about 5 minutes of vigorous pumping. 5 minutes gets it up to "get home riding" pressure. I've never tried to get the full 100lbs it claims ... but it does work very well or my purposes. comes with the tire tools to remove the tire from the rim. The whole package is easily carried on the bike or in a cargo shorts pocket. Couldn't recommend it more highly

I can never find a bag sealer even though I pretty much buy them everytime I go shopping. I am so happy I purchased these sealers. The handy hook for hanging, the cutter and the heating sealer work great on my granddaughter's snacks! I keep one in my upstairs office in my office in case I get a hankering for some chips!

I wanted a small pump, lightweight, for use in emergencies. This one seems to be just what I was looking for. It's in my bike bag although it can be easily mounted. If the time comes that I need it, I think it will work just fine. If not, I'll go back and revise this review. A small repair kit was included with the pump. Take a minute and check out the directions to make sure you are using the right end to match up with your tube's valve.

The sealer never got hot enough to actually seal anything. I tried both sealers, switched batteries and still got barely Luke warm. Do not waste your money.

So I bought this product because we always have chips or open bags that you can taste go stale. It is not the best thing to get home and want some and you taste them. Think about it, it ruins the taste for quite a while. I am very impressed though. We first got it and I sat there with no hope for it thinking this is going to be one of those things I will have forever, that will never work. But I figured I would give it a shot. It was difficult to use at first but what isn't when you first get it. If you hold it their longer you will have better luck with it. Slowly use the heater side pushing it across the bag and you should like it so much more. Keep in mind it takes time to get it perfect. The quicker you go the less you are letting it do its job. I would recommend this product to others like I have my friends and family including, that one grandma that you see every weekend that tells you don't forget to bring it with you. But now it stays at home because she is going to get one of her own. It is not for when you are in a rush it takes time but you will get the hang of it and love it as much as me and my grandma do!

At first I thought this was a great buy but when I started using one then rested it as the manual said when I was ready to use again nothing happened so I have to open up the other one. It worked well but when if that should not work the next time I need to use it. And it’s braaaaand new..

I purchased thinking this was seriously cool. The first few times it definitely worked. I tried storing it by hanging it on the chip cabinet, so it was easily accessible and there to be used when needed. However, it has since then sorta been shoved in a drawer and not used. I attempted to use it on the cat food bag and it did not work. I attempted to use it on other bags that were not chip bags and it did not work. It does work on the chip bags but honestly, we go through those like crazy so they are opened again fairly quickly after sealing.

Bull's-Eye : Very compact mini pump
Just what I was looking for, very compact & easy to store on my bike. It includes everything you would need to repair a tire flat. There are even adapters to inflate footballs & basketballs. They include a bracket to mount on your bike, but the box (only 7 inches long) would easily fit in a small bike bag. I bought two of these mini pumps, gave one to my daughter & her husband.
L Montebell : Great gadget, keeps food fresh, pretty easy to use
I love this little gadget. It hangs on my cabinet where it is always handy, and it's easy to use. It doess have a slight learning curve, as different bag thicknesses and materials may require different pressure and speed. To open, you can either use the cutter-end or just pull apart. It seals better than twist-ties or rubber bands, and I think it also keeps your snacks, cereal, etc fresher. Plus mine was a two-pack so the second one was a great gift for my sister!

This is a great little set to have in your kitchen! I used to have just one potato peeler that I used for any and all veggies and it was really dull over time. I opted for this set because it had some more versatility and hopefully will last longer since I’ll be using a few tools instead of just one. Recommend!

It did not heat up at all, the opposite end that is meant to cut like a razor only made the bag rip, these reviews are bogus! I’ve sent an email to the seller which she requested if you aren’t satisfied because according to her sympathy plea she makes .6 cents per item so in her words “please do not review me before letting me make things right” well she never made it right in fact she never replied back at all.
No worries though the money was a drop in the bucket, just thought this would be a cute tool for mom. But no such luck
