We have a number of them we bring for fishing, but this one may become our go to one - mainly because of the easy safety feature. Once we get a chance to use it on fish will write an update.

David R : Blade is so thin it is Dangerous

The knife blade is so thin that it bends under medium duty use. Where the cutout on the blade is, it will bend to a 30 to 90 degree angle and is very unsafe because if the blade breaks it will go into your hand. The blade is too thin.

Very good quality 5 inch bait/fillet knife. The grip is very ergonomic and very comfortable in the hand. The blade is very sharp and I love how it's G4116 German Stainless-Steel. I fish in the salt most of the time so having a stainless-steel is very important to me. This is not the cheapest bait knife out there but excellent value and high quality. The blade is also flexible so that it also makes it a good fillet knife for small fish.

This is a go starter knife for a kid. It didn't come with a very sharp edge. It seems weak at the notch on the blade. It does have a very nice handle that grips great when wet. And it has a cool locking sheith for it.

I got the 6" fillet knife. It is boxed very nicely. I love that it comes with a locking sheath. The handle may be a little big for small hands but it is definitely easy to grip, not slippery at all. My main concern is the blade. It is nice and thin but when you look closely, there are small nicks and it isn't as sharp as a good fillet knife needs to be. Maybe it was just the one I got, but it didn't pass the paper test and when cutting some well-cooked corn beef brisket (not fishing weather here in MN!), it had to use some force to make the cuts. A properly sharpened knife should have just sliced right through with almost no pressure.

I used this knife for when it was the first time I ever filleted a fish. It is very sharp, as a fillet knife should be. It has some flex to it, which a fillet knife should. I like the sheath that snaps into place, so it is safe when you are not using it. I don't know how durable it is because I am writing this review after only using it for filleting three fish. The handle is easy to grip and stays easy to grip even when it gets wet. This is important that it doesn't get slippery when wet.
