Is this bag material gas impermeable (specifically to oxygen)?

Answer: I think so, when I vacuum seal something with air in it, it stays puffed up until i open it. the air doesn't seem to leak.

What type of plastic are these? Or will they make it through a pressure cooker

Answer: Im not sure but they are pretty heavy duty for thickness

Answer: On their website these rolls are listed under the mylar catalog. So it would seem yes

Answer: You should not try to rip them open quickly. Use a sharp pair of scissors to get a clean cut. Then you can easily reseal them.

Answer: I don’t use this particular model of bag but I believe this bag you note does not have a clear side.

Is there any benefit to using black bags instead of clear?

Answer: If you're concerned about light damage to the contents, it's good. It's also good for privacy.

Answer: sometimes contents will degrade if exposed to light. black bags are also good if you are concerned about privacy.

Are both sides textured?

Answer: Usually just one side is “embossed” i.e. textured.

Answer: No. If you buy the black and clear it’s only textured on the one side that’s black you could also find the shield and seal vacuum seal rolls that are black on black those are textured on both sides.

Smell proof?

Answer: I have used it for more than a year with many different products I have freeze dried. I have stored packages of different mixes of products in containers (17 gallon) and have used many. The smell or taste does not seem to intermix. What they smell, taste and look like when they went in, they come out the same. That is about the best I can say. I use this vacuum seal rolls to store freeze dried and vacuum seal all type products without issues.

Answer: Yes. It is plastic and not metallic. Contents are definitely visible. Used for my meds and they were easily seen via xray.

My food saver vacuum sealer is not wide enough to accommodate 15.5". can i fold the ends over and still get a tight seal?

Answer: No not that I know of, but you could cut this no whatever size you would like or that would fit in your vacuum sealer. If you need it The full 15.5” wide you would measure the width that would fit and cut 45 degree angles to the edge with what’s left. You can seal over a seal. Hope this is helpful. This shieldnseal roll is the best I have used. Great product.

Answer: Personally I would avoid folding as it increases thickness of the portion you are trying to seal and may not seal well. I would suggest inserting one corner and sealing that, then trim excess and insert back into the vacuum sealer for sealing. Good luck!

Answer: You might not get a good seal that way. I have put the ends in at an angle into the sealer then trim the excess off to get the bag to seal properly. So I did 3 seals at each end

Answer: The bags are not pre cut, so you can make as many as you like, any size you desire. Just depends what size you make them to determine number of bags. It's almost 20' in length so 6" bags would amount to 40. Must have a vacuum seeler with heat mechanism to make the bags
