Answer: You might catch it but the cat will tear you and the net up trying to get it out. It also depends on the size of the cat. The net is made with a piece of tubing that runs opposite the handle or apex of the triangle. The tubing is flimsy allowing the net to collapse when folded or not in use. I do not think this will work for your purposes.

I'm so glad I purchased this net. It surpasses the traditional trout net I was using for kayak fishing in every way. It folds and is compact which is great for a kayak fisherman. It's the perfect length when extended for netting nice fish. Pictured is a 6 pound largemouth bass in the net. You can see that it fits well with room to spare for larger fish. If your net is starting to fail you buy this one it is well worth the cost.

I received my order today an I am truly surprised and disappointed on how cheaply made it was. The material used in making it is so cheap and the workmanship is so bad that you can even feel the glue on the telescopic pole. The aluminum is so thin that it wont be able to hold even a 1 lb fish. I am disappointed that Amazon let this poorly made product being sold on their website! This piece of junk doesn't even worth couple of dollars in my opinion.

I purchased this for our trip to the beach. We went crabbing yesterday and the very first crab we tried to net the pole bent. My husband tried to straighten it out and it broke in half. Very disappointed. We were very impressed with the way the net folded and how compact it was. We were for seeing us using it on many trips in the future. Now I need to purchase another net because the return window closed on the day it broke.
