D. Miller : Small Fish

This is a short, light weight net that packs easily. If you're doing some bank fishing for small bass, etc it can be nice to have on hand, especially for the kids. BUT, it's not reaching very far, so you'll have to get down right on the water's edge. Would also work off the side of a john boat, skiff or something with a very low profile hull. I could see a heavy fish (10 plus pounds) giving this net issue...it's pretty light weight.

Northern Lights : The mesh is softer than string style netting.

The only type of fishing I do anymore is catch and release. Using barbless hooks, most fish are able to get off of my hook without my assistance. On those times when I have to pull a hook out, I try to be as gentle with the fish as I possibly can. Whenever possible, I try to to gently grab a hold of the fish with one hand and use the other hand to remove the hook. Sometimes fish don't cooperate with being grabbed, and netting them becomes another method.
This type of netting material seems to be a lot softer than my old net.
I haven't gotten a chance to actually use this net, but I really like the folding handle, and I'm anxious to try it out when the weather gets a little better for fishing.

This net is incredible and heavy duty!!! Durable and functional. Easy to unfold and refold! Bigger than i imagined. Only wish it came with a store mesh bag or something but I still love it. Easy to pack and feels well made. Not floppy or flimsy. Its rubberized net too. Great for catching minows, Bates, crawfish, and hauling bigger fish out of the water. The handle is also extendable so my 6ft 3 in husband w long arms can use it easily and my kids and I with shorter arms can also use it comfortably .

Daughter likes it for fishing. The portability is a big selling point, but it isn't as sturdy and durable as I'd hoped. Still, it does the job, so she is pleased.

The frame for the net failed after my first fish. The return window has passed and now I own this

Dawn2Dusk Adventures : Fast deployment net

I’m a backpacker and often take multi day trips to lakes and rivers. I wanted to get a net that could pack away easy. This net blew away my expectations that it’s super fast to deploy or stowaway. It’s really strong for its size. It’s an aluminum body and heavy rubber net. The only plastic on the net is in the locking latch for the net and the pole. The pole in its shortest length is 12 inches and can double to 24 inches. The net is also 12x12x12 giving you a lot of volume to scoop up your catch. This is definitely a great deal for light weight setups.

Patti Hays : Easy transport

The one thing that is a must is being able to transport gear without feeling like a pack mule. This net collapses easily which then fits comfortably in one of our backpacks. Yes, the poles stick out but it’s not bad. Very lightweight yet feels sturdy enough to last for a bit. I’m not sure of the weight limit of a catch but lately we haven’t snagged into another very heavy.
