CAL1280 : Product changed and got cheap

This net 2 years ago was the best entry level wooden handle rubber landing net. Since late '19 the quality went to hades. The craftsmanship is awful. If you can find an older one buy it, if it's new don't bother. I pray my older one lasts a while. The new ones have net anchor points way to far apart, the wood is not sealed, the cordage attaching the next it butcher twine, not a waxed or poly cord. The wood is cheaper and prone to delaminating.

This net is a terrific product at a great price! I have used it several times already. During my most recent fly-fishing trip, it came in handy when I was trying to land a larger-than-normal fish (carp). I am not sure I would have been able to get the fish into the kayak without it!

You can’t beat the value here. Looks great, extremely functional, for a fraction of the cost of similar nets. Only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is that there is 1 small rough spot on the wood. You can’t see it, and it doesn’t affect the durability.
