Can this seal Mylar bags?

Answer: If the bags are designated as heat sealable then surely. So you must buy HEAT SEALABLE MAYLAR BAGS to use with this sealer.

Answer: Well it was supposed to, don't waste your money, this isn't working as well as the old one I had. It seems to be melting the bags versus selling them.

Answer: No it heats as you use it. When I use it I hold it at the 1st spot for a just a second then slowly move it to the other side. If you go to fast it will not seal and if you go to slow it will like take the top off as it seals. So it does take a few times of trying to get it right where u want it to depending on if you want it to have a part to grab or not.

Answer: Plastic bags. Not paper unless it has a plastic inner coating. It seals by heating up the plastic so that it melts to the other side.

I bought this thinking it was going to save me so much waste from bagged items going stale. I got it popped the batteries into this bad boy placed the cover back on, walked over to my pantry to get a bag to seal, By the time I had gotten back it was sitting on my kitchen island smoking and smelling like burned plastic, I noticed that the metal rod that’s only suppose to get hot when the top rod is touching was burning the plastic safeguard to keep it from turning on… I think if I hadn’t been right there it could have caught fire I had it a total of 10 minutes before what I’ll assume is a malfunction happened … so I returned this fire hazard.

It easily cuts through the plastic when using, so instead of sealing it tears a line in a plastic. Sometimes it works okay after a few tries but very often the plastic gets ripped instead of sealed. Probably would not recommend it.
