Why did you buy this? i made one myself and cost only 4 bucks.

Answer: Did it really? Or did you have to buy a lot of many of the items in bulk and it just cost $4.00 pro rated? How much time did you spend buying each of the items and making it? I would buy a package like this because making my own would cost more in time than buying it since I place a minimum value on my time at $100.00 an hour. Responding to your inane comment cost me $4.00.

Answer: About the size of a box of Altoids.

Answer: This was a gift and I don't have it anymore. But as I recall it was about 3"x4"X1". About the size of a sardine can.

A tad cheap, but for the price it's a good kit. With some patience, planning and skill, I think you could catch a few fish with this if you absolutely had to.

If you're looking, like I was, for a simple kit to throw in a bag for emergency use that has the basics required to make an attempt at catching fish, this kit covers your bases. It is however pretty skimpy and if you know any avid fishermen that have extra tackle, you could build a much better kit using their stuff. I think I am the most disappointed with the 12lb line. Not that I expect to go deep sea fishing or anything, but that seems pretty weak if I find myself in an emergency I may have to try to shoo away any decent size fish for fear that they will break the line.

Bottom line, if you don't have ANY tackle and don't know anyone with tackle and you want to have the basics of a simple fishing setup for emergency use, this is decent. If you have friends, family, or co-workers that fish a lot, offer to pay them $10 - $15 bucks to put together something similar for you and put it in a small tin and call it good. You will almost certainly end up with better quality materials and a wider variety of tools to use. And if you are in an emergency, trying to feed yourself by catching fish you want to have the best gear possible!

Best survival fishing kit I've found for the combo of content and cost. Well thought out and even costs a bit cheaper than putting a kit together yourself. I keep this in my survival gear and carry it with me when hiking or on outdoor adventures.

Purchased to add to my emergency supplies. Perfect size and has enough items to actually have a good chance of catching fish. Nice to have small items for your emergency preparedness...seems like everything you want or need for an emergency kit tends to add up pretty quick and take up too much space. This is this size of a breath mint container. Buy some for stocking stuffers for your prepper or traveling fisherman to keep in the glove box of the car.

Of course you should make your own out of an Altoids box. However, if your time is precious & limited like mine, I'll gladly pay for a kit like this so that my son and I can craft an emergency "cane" pole and try to take a fish out of the creek with it during our "cabin" week.

What a great idea! I have put this in my bug-out-bag for emergencies. About the size of a mint tin, it is packed with a lot of emergency items such as fishing line, hooks and sinkers. Really like the idea that it fits nicely into something so small!
