Answer: That's what the clips are for. Sous Vide cooking is cooking food placed in a plastic bag suspended in water. The clips hold the bags in place on the edge of the container.
Answer: There are to clip the sides of the bag to some container so water doesn’t get inside the bag when you warming something. I haven’t used that ‘feature’ yet.

Answer: It helps to use the little white clips to help slide the seals closed. And if that fails, return them. It's always possible you got a bad batch of bags.

If you don't need the vacuum capability and only looking to use with sous vide cooking, you can use regular, large Ziplock bags which do have pleats. Don't seal the zip all the way until submerging into the water which will force most all the air out, then zip the top closed. Works fine for Sous Vide cooking.

I bought this product December 2020 and used it probably less than 20 times. The food didn’t stay fresh when frozen for longer than 3 months. Also, the part where the charger is inserted broke off so I can’t charge the device and now I just have the bag. The quality is low but I’m assuming it comes with paying a low price. It was ok while it lasted. It wasn’t always easy to suction the air out of the bags.

This works pretty well if the vacuum sealer actually held up - it takes a bit to get used to how to position the sealer and the bag to get it to seal properly, but this worked great for sous vide until the usb port for the sealer where you connect the charging cord broke off. Pretty cheaply made and I read other reviews where it had the same problem so I decided not to issue a replacement and am buying a different brand to try. I really wanted to use this for the re-usable bags as I have another larger food sealer but know that it's not very environmentally friendly with the use of the plastic sheets.

Works ok, but does let air in after about a week for non-flat items. For example, my avocado lasted so much longer in the fridge with this but after about 6 days, there was air in the bag. Didn't matter too horribly since you should use your avocado w/in that amount of time, but does make a little worried for freezer items.

I wish I had just bought the Anova sealer. These bags are very difficult to open. The valves leak. If you try to vacuum seal anything with juice, the juice ends up in the vacuum. Raw meat juice? Gross.
If you use any oil in the bag, just throw it away when you’re done. It’s not coming clean. Same with paprika or other red spices.
I will continue to use these until they are gone, but I don’t recommend them at all.

This runs out of suction power very quickly. If I have more than 2 bags to seal have to recharge between. Use the bag sealer to close bags completely. If not the suction will not remove all air. Do not use on bread, even if freezing. Do not use with liquid in bag. Works very well with fresh fruits and vegies.

The first 3 times the bags worked great, the pump sucked out all the air and everything I cooked came out great. But yesterday the electric pump decided to die rendering the bags no more useful than normal ziplock bags that I paid more for. Tried charging it all night and it's still useless and doesn't function anymore. Not sure what could have caused it to give out so quick, I have only been cooking with dry rubs/seasoning. I'd recommend if your going to get a bag set like this rather than an actual vacuum sealer to stick with a product that uses a hand pump over an electric one. As soon as the pump dies your just left with a bunch of ziplock bags.

I would have given it a 5 stars but, it is hard to find the right spot when you put the vacuum over the valve it takes a few tries and hovering over it till starts sucking up all the air. I mostly use it for chesses and it has saved me pounds of them, I use it on imitation crab meat it kept it fresh, HAM! I buy it fresh slice and with in a couple of days starts to spoil NOT any more this vacuum really keeps them fresh longer and I use it to freeze thigs too.

I'm very pleased with these bags (after only a few weeks) and the vacuum thus far. I believe it's going to save me a lot of money for helping food last longer, and staying fresh. The vacuum is easy to use but I have to make sure the bag is sealed securely and sometimes the vacuum may need adjusted over the valve.
I hope they last, and come in a smaller size (like a pint). The quart size are great but I like to freeze cut up vegetables and smaller would be better.

Aiza Abelon : Pump stopped working after 4 uses,
Pump wasn't working when I tried to seal a bag. Went to charge it and the charging light turned on. After a couple hours, I try using it again. Nothing. Overall I like this product and think it's effective but I wish there was a way to diagnose what's going on with the pump.

I purchased this item on January 6th, 2021. I have used this with multiple items I wanted to freeze, vegetables, meat, etc., items in the fridge like cheeses & veggies & it worked well. I did try to marinate a steak & seal it, there was a small amount of liquid that kept getting sucked into the unit & it wouldn't work, so that was a no go, but I wanted to try. Other than that, it was working fine. Skip forward to today, February 13th, 2021, I charged the unit this morning & while unplugging it, the whole charging port came out of the unit with the cable. I am out of my return window as of February 8th & can not return it. The suction unit obviously doesn't work now & I can't find any information as to how to return it to the manufacturer for replacement. If you purchase this item, I highly recommend getting the protection plan. I have already ordered smaller bags & can't return those after all of this, so another purchase will have to be made, with a protection plan. I will update this review if further issues occur after the next purchase, with the warranty.

The suction is not as strong as my bigger machine but it is more than adequate for the small daily jobs. And it is easier to store in the kitchen so my big machine can stay in the pantry until I have bigger jobs to do.

The product has a problem with the charging port. The 1st one I ordered I was only able to charge once. The second time the port would no longer accept the input. I returned it and was very pleased with the quick replacement. I used the product for2 or 3 months and liked the way it worked. Very happy. Then on the 5th or 6th charge, the port would not accept the input again. Understand that I was specifically gentle and careful trying to insert it. It disappeared inside the unit body. Gone. I tried to reach the company thru Amazon and was told 90 day guarantee was expired. No further communications with the company or Amazon was acknowledged Very disappointing. So While I liked the performance of the product, I am not prepared to buy one every 3 months. Shame on both companies. John A

This works pretty well if the vacuum sealer actually held up - it takes a bit to get used to how to position the sealer and the bag to get it to seal properly, but this worked great for sous vide until the usb port for the sealer where you connect the charging cord broke off. Pretty cheaply made and I read other reviews where it had the same problem so I decided not to issue a replacement and am buying a different brand to try. I really wanted to use this for the re-usable bags as I have another larger food sealer but know that it's not very environmentally friendly with the use of the plastic sheets.
Hunting Gear Products : works great but...
While I really like having a vacuum sealer that is portable and does a great job. What it did to disclose is the difficulty of cleaning the bags once you have stored meat in them. I use dish soap, ran them in the dishwasher and also ran them through the washing machine to get the smell and residue of the meat product out. I even tried bleach to get the smell out after using the bags and of course, running them in the sous vide. It's a great concept, going forward I will be using a vacuum sealer machine which will cost less out of pocket than these bags, and no clean up needed.

I had high expectation for the product. I made sous vide quite often and like the idea of inexpensive vacuum bags. However, I found the vacuum pump hard to use. I had to move around the pump until it hit the exact sweet spot for the vacuuming to start. Sometimes it takes me several minutes to my great frustration. I am much better off just using the water method for zip lock bags. Washing the sous vide bags after each use is also a pain in the a**. I cleaned them by hand and then put them in dishwasher, and I still can't get rid of the remnants at the corner of the bags. Not worth the money and effort! Stick with the old fashioned zip lock bags or invest in a real food vacuum sealer.

I love this! At last no more wasting groceries that go badly because of not being able to seal them and hold their freshness. I love the fact that I can wash the bags and reuse them, such a money saver in so many ways!

I would have given it a 5 stars but, it is hard to find the right spot when you put the vacuum over the valve it takes a few tries and hovering over it till starts sucking up all the air. I mostly use it for chesses and it has saved me pounds of them, I use it on imitation crab meat it kept it fresh, HAM! I buy it fresh slice and with in a couple of days starts to spoil NOT any more this vacuum really keeps them fresh longer and I use it to freeze thigs too.

I don’t know how long it will last but so far, it’s the best thing I’ve bought in a good while. The bags alone are worth the cost, but the little unit charges fast, and you won’t believe the suction! It gets all the air out. Only had it a few days so I’ll see how long they stay sealed and check back in. Buy!

I was hoping to contact the seller directly before leaving a negative review, but that wasn't an option. So here we go: I sous vide and freeze stuff ALL THE TIME! It's been a game changer in the way I run my personal kitchen. I feel in love with the technique of sous vide in a white linen upscale restaurant I apprenticed for years ago. As a private, personal chef, it makes cooking for a large crowd very easy to make things a precise temperature. My ONLY major complaint about this product is that my rechargeable vacuum sealer failed after a couple months. That's pretty crucial to this system. You can try to get as much air out as possible by hand, but there's no way to get it air tight without the vacuum. The light goes from red to green as though it has fully charged, but when I go to use it, it doesn't work at all. For that reason, and that reason alone, I can't give this a high rating. If the seller replaces the unit, I will let you know and revise my review/ rating.

These bags can't even hold a vacuum for a few minutes. I would vacuum them and within a few minutes they were already starting to lose their vacuum and was completely gone in less than an hour. I thought it may have been the bag but it failed on all 25 bags I tried.

This is a review for the KOSBON 47 PCS Electric Vacuum Sealer & Reusable Vacuum Food Storage Bags, purchased August 2020.

I was using the vacuum pump with the charging cable attached and I inadvertently applied a little pressure to the cable where it connects to the pump. This slight pressure was sufficient to break the cable housing inside the pump, rendering the unit useless. Granted, this damage could have been avoided if I had removed the cable before use. Nevertheless, I believe that the pump should be more robust.
I have had the product for only a few days so I cannot offer any long-term view.
The product arrived complete, on time and as advertised. I charged the pump using the provided cable connected to a computer USB port. I tested the system using a small bag and the last inch of a home-baked loaf of bread. The pump worked as expected, it was easy to position the pump over the air-valve for the few seconds required to remove the air. The attached photos show the result two days after sealing. The pump was able to create sufficient vacuum to almost flatten the bread; and the air-valve held the seal well for the two days; so I am satisfied that the product is working as expected. There are many bags and spare air-valves in the set so I expect to get good use in the coming years for storage of different foods.
A few minor points which detract from my complete satisfaction.
1. The set does not include a power adapter...... Be aware that, for charging, you will need to connect to an existing USB port (such as on your computer or mobile phone charger).
2. The charging port is deeply recessed in the body of the pump. So a standard USB cable will not fit ... do not lose the charging cable supplied with the set.
3. The instruction sheet has many horrendous typos. This does not affect the product functionality; but it does lead me to question the quality control used by the supplier.

My product arrived yesterday and I sealed 2 bags with salmon and 1 with pound cake to freeze. Very easy. Good suction and bag seems sturdy. Would have been even better with basic instructions, as I had to guess what the clear, plastic piece was for but figured it out. So much simpler than the large, sealer machines!
Amazon Customer : The Smartest Purchase I Made Ever!
Took a few minutes to figure it out but this item works perfectly. The key is to make sure the bag is tightly closed. The suction is perfect and I can say with certainty after almost a week a head of lettuce is as fresh today as the day I purchased. This will return the cost in a month and will save me a ton of money over the year. When the unit dies I'll buy it again and highly recommend to anyone. By the way the bags work great and keep their seal.

At last, a fast, easy, and effective way to preserve perishable foods. We primarily use them for lunch meats, hot dogs, and cheese. Items that we open and close frequently. It keeps them fresh and last much longer than regular zipper type storage plastic bags. We also use them when we buy bulk meats and separate them into meal size portions before putting them in the freezer.

First one didn't work but they sent new one very fast. This one works great. Cheaper than zip lock bags and great that are reusable.
Update 4-1-21- I was using it for chicken & the first bag started to suck up liquid. I thought I had dried the chicken but not good enough. I froze the chicken on a jelly roll pan lined with saran. The next day the bags sealed with no problem.

Can’t exactly reuse these as stated. The bags get gross after using. Suction device sucks up juice from the bags from fish or beef and the clear piece doesn’t come off to clean inside of it. Not thrilled

Only been using it for the last week or so but WOW has this been a great impulse buy! Love getting a ton of veg from the farmer's market & being able to prep and freeze most of it. Will update if anything changes, but so far I'm really impressed for what really was an impulse buy when I got fed up scraping freezer burn off of everything in my freezer lol.

This was a massive let down. First the directions were a little hard to navigate and badly translated, but the product is pretty easy to figure out. Bought this to sous vide with. First sous vide attempt of my life was ruined by this product when one of the quart bags took on water making the steak less It was fully sealed and when I tilted the bag after pulling it out of the water there was a drip coming from the sealed corner! I double and triple checked it and used the clip to get a better seal. Still leaking. Worthless. Don't waste your money.

Had this product for about a year and two parts of the vacuum broke. This item was never dropped and never been through stress. One day it stopped vacuuming then the usb connector just broke off and is now stuck inside. There's no way to open it cleanly. My bags when using this would stay fresh slightly longer than usual, but they would get air again no matter how tightly I seal it.

Easy setup, nice seal, works great, cleans easy. Used for the first time yesterday. I like these and best of all reusable. Recommended for Sous Vide, and everyday storage and freezing. This is a very good set and comes in different sizes bags, from 1-gal. and 1 qt. What I really like is the vacuum seal pump, works great and is very easy to use.

Bags seem durable and would have probably been great for what I needed but the vacuum did not work. I plugged it in thinking it needed to be charged first, but the red indicator light never came on. Tried a different cable in the same outlet that I know was charging another device and nothing. Left it plugged in thinking MAYBE it needed time before there was enough charge to light up but after being plugged in overnight (8+h) still nothing.

but there is a defect in the charging cord. The charger is
ill fitted for the device. After plugging in the charger a few times the charger grabs hold of the inside of the device. When this happens the charger is no longer useful.
I did return the device. I received a new one. I am not sure if it will last because the fit for the charger plug is not right. I am debating if I will send the second one back.

I wish I had just bought the Anova sealer. These bags are very difficult to open. The valves leak. If you try to vacuum seal anything with juice, the juice ends up in the vacuum. Raw meat juice? Gross.
If you use any oil in the bag, just throw it away when you’re done. It’s not coming clean. Same with paprika or other red spices.
I will continue to use these until they are gone, but I don’t recommend them at all.

Anne P. : Vacuum Pump arrived unusable
I purchased these bags/vacuum for a Sous Vide unit I had recently purchased. I didn't use until 3 months after receiving. The bags seem of high quality; however, I could not get the vacuum pump to work. It arrived in 3 pieces so assumed I had to assemble. There was no way that the silicone part would fit on the unit. At closer look, it appears that the area with the red arrow is broken. I searched YouTube and Googled instructions and all videos showed it as one complete unit. Since I'm past the return period, I'm stuck with the bags but cannot use the vacuum. I purchased another vacuum unit locally but it does not work on the bags.
If you purchase this unit, be aware if it arrives in 3 separate pieces (a plastic adapter was also included but there is no picture to share - it fits inside the silicone part.

The suction unit is impossible to charge as the outside blue case is too thick and the usb charging port is too far inside for a cable to stay connected to it.
