The Kraken Bass Fishing Hook Sharpener is made of Diamond 600 Grit Stone. Ideal for Sharpening Hooks with three separate sides groved in the diamond stone for easy hook placement. It also has a clip for resting in your shirt pocket or tackle bag. This hook sharpener will work for all types of fishing hooks, and even fishing knives to help you keep your hooks sharp, and your knives cutting clean. This sharpener also has a longer than average sharpening surface, and can retract back into a tough casing to prevent damage to your diamond hook file. There are three flat surfaces including groves for hooks, flat sides for knives, and a round file section to polish off that hook to an extra sharp point. This hook sharpener has one of the highest diamond grit counts to get your hook extra sharp to land more fish. This fishing hook and knife sharpener also has a 3.5 inch longer diamond stone. The sides of the stone are .5 inches perfect for long strokes to sharpen hooks, and easy hook placement on the three sides of the stone.

Are all the sides 600 grit and if not, what are the grits?

Answer: They're not all 600 grit, but not sure what the others are. I've marked the coarser one since that's the one I use 90% of the time..

Answer: Sold by a company in Utal not sure where they are made

Will this remove the barbs?

Answer: I don’t know as I have not had the chance to use it.

This is the finest pocket sharpener I’ve ever owned or used. The grooves make hook sharpening quick, easy, and very effective. I can sharpen my knives safely and effectively with it, and I can even sharpen larger blades such as an axe or hatchet. The diamond coating is strong and shows no wear with use. The housing is robust and sturdy, and the safety mechanism holds the sharpening steel firmly. If you’re looking for the best pocket sharpener you’ve ever owned, and likely the last one you’ll ever need...this one will fit the bill.

This is just one of several Kraken Bass products that I own. And just like my others, I am supremely happy with this pocket size hook sharpener. I have used it a bunch and you cannot even tell it has been touched. Even for a very regualr fisherman like me, I dont see me needing another one anytime soon if at all.
I even used the flat edge to sharpen my pocket knife and it worked very well. 5 stars for another great product!

This sharpener has been working great for sharpening my Jig hooks and treble hooks! Can't think of anything I would change, except maybe that it was around for the last 20 years that I've been using hook files and stones, because this diamond file works so much better!!

This hook sharpener is something good and substantial to hold onto while you sharpen your hooks. I’ve used other files and don’t like the little file style sharpeners. I like the 3 sided diamond stone. It has A LOT of surface area where I don’t feel like one area is wearing out. I always lost my small file style sharpeners but appreciate the pocket clip for my fly fishing vest. I also like the retractable design so your not wearing away other things in your box or bag. I see this lasting a lifetime and it is always there when I need it.

I like the fact that this sharpener collapses into itself to protect it from breaking or the weather. It also puts a sharp tip on the hook. The only thing I don't like, which is minor, is the triangular edge seem to have different grit and it's hard to find the one you want.

4strokes : Does a good job

I've used it several times on fishing trips, will make a hook point extremely sharp & will lessen the chances of lost fish when setting the hook. I have several specialty hooks that aren't easily replaced & this item makes it easy to keep them sharp.

A good quality sharpener that works well. But it needs a much better pocket clasp or even better way to secure to shirts, pants, or fishing vest. If only carried in a tackle box or lure case, no problem. Mine got "re-rigged" with a neck lanyard.

The best file I've ever owned the only fault I do have with it is the plastic casing could have been a bit tougher. I lost mine at the the beach ordering a next one.
