Questions about American Angler PRO Professional Grade Electric Fillet Knife Sportsmen's Kit – 110 Volt High Performance Ergonomic Motorized Handset with Five Kinds of Stainless Steel Blades, 32352DS
Q:
Great knife, love it. But putting the blades in is not easy. Is there a trick to getting them to go in easily and quickly?
Answer: Take your time and they will go in easy Don't take them out very time you use them just rise them off good Nothing easy is good
Answer: Jim,
Answer: Shouldn't be a problem, there may be a defect in the receiving portion on the knife. I'd contact the manufacturer with the concern.
Q:
What is the size of the fillet glove? Thanks.
Answer: It is a knit glove and is one size fits all. My husband is a XL guy and I have small hands. The fingers are long for me but I think I could make it work. It worked well for holding on to slippery fish and offered some hand protection while cleaning fish.
Answer: I have big hands but if I was to guess the size of the glove I would say large because it is a little tight on my hand.
Answer: There is one glove and it is large if not extra large.
Answer: It is probably a large. If you have really big hands it is probably going to fit tight
Q:
how is this knife for slicing turkey, meats, and bread?
Answer: This is the best knife we have ever bought for slicing anything
Answer: Works great, there are so many blades to choose from
Answer: Probably work really well. It's very sharp
Answer: Only used it for cleaning fish. Does GREAT!!
Q:
On the aap, are there blades made for cutting veggies mostly? how about for meat?
Answer: Comes with 4 different blades all of which are for filleting I believe. I have used a couple on different species of fish and they are fantastic. I would use this knife for fish and regular kitchen knives on veggies or meat. Might be able to cut up a turkey but remember that it's a fillet knife. You can also call the mfg. They are very helpful.
Answer: We use these knives for cleaning fish of all sizes. Best electric knife we have ever owned. I never tried it on veggies. But works great on meat.
Answer: I only use my electric knife for felaying fish or carving a turkey. Have not used on veggies.
Answer: We use this electric for filleting fish only---it is fantastic for that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Q:
Does this have the same motor as the titanium pro model?
Q:
Is the mechanical part of the aapro handle also made in the usa?
Answer: I have enjoyed this item the day I received it. This knife out perform all the knifes I've purchased from Academy Sporting Store.
Answer: I would say not!
Q:
Im looking for who made the two blades electric fillet knifes with brownings name on it
Q:
Is this knife only for fish or can you use it to say carve hot meats like turkey?
Answer: I don't know but it is terrible on fish. I would think you can get a turkey electric knife for a lot less than $150. I would not buy it again even for $50.
Answer: I'm sure it would work well for that. We have not used it that way just because it is hard to keep it as sanitary as I would like it to be to cut already cooked meat. I do wash the handle and blades well after hard use at the lake.
Answer: I'm Sure it will do great on turkey or any type of meat.
Answer: I would think that this would work great on any meat.
Answer: Absolutely, it'll do great with any slicing job.
Q:
Received Knife, works fine, but I have red grease leaking out of the hole where the knife blades are inserted. Did anyone else experience this?
Answer: If I had red grease leaking, I think I would return the item. I would be afraid that grease would get on my fish and might be toxic
Answer: We have used the knife a lot and never had this issue
Answer: No.
Q:
Which blade comes with the knife if I buy the single blade knife kit? I want the 8" curved blades. One of the 5 pictures shows straight blades.
Answer: I wouldn't recommend buying this knife. I bought one and had to return it after using it only once. The blades were too flimsy and the motor got so hot, that it was uncomfortable to hold. After returning it, I got the Rapala heavy duty one. I am very satisfied with it.
Answer: I have a single blade kit and I have a curved knife.
Q:
Is this good for kitchen use for beef, turkey, pork, etc...
Answer: It is wonderful. Better than any I have tried. It would be good for carving also. It is very sharp and doesn't dull quickly. Motor holds up well. You might not need all the different types of blades if you don't filet fish.
Answer: i would think it would be good for any type of meat ,its great for skinning fish.
Answer: Yes, I think it is very good.
Answer: Never have tried tto use it fo anything else than filleting fish.
Answer: Yes you can use it for carvin and cutting up meat
Answer: yes.
Q:
Does this have the 40mm motor like the titanium?
Answer: I’m not sure what power it has. I do know that it’s the best electric knife I have used. I have had two other. The American Angler is by far the best!
Answer: I'm not sure but it's a great knife and we use it often cleaning a lot of fish our daughters family was so impressed with ours they also bought one
Q:
Do the blades fit other knives?
Answer: Not 100% sure about all knives but generally I would say don't bother trying from my experience at least with Mr. Twister and Piranha. One other brand says they fit most knives which is misleading. Besides that issue, I bought new blades twice for above mentioned and they were worse than the old ones. Try and see the difference and I don't get paid to say that. LOL
Answer: All of our American Angler Blades fit all of our American Angler Knives.
Answer: I have not tried them in different knives, but my Rapala blades fit this knife
Answer: I have not found any blades that fit my American Angler Pro other than those made by the company...
Answer: I have not tried the blades in any othe knives so I unfortunately would not know the answer to this question.
Answer: No
Answer: No
Answer: yes
Q:
When filleting a lots of fish the handset gets hot have to stop and let cool down why? Plus blades are hard to insert proper! I'm not happy with knife
Answer: I don’t have these issues. Sure the area gets somewhat warm, but I’ll put a light weight glove on. As for putting the knife blades in, you just have to be careful. I feel this knife is far the best over others that I have had.
Q:
Do you make one for kitchen use for beef, pork, turkey, etc...
Answer: No
Q:
how this blades would slice a bread or tomato?
Answer: I use an electric knife to slice anything especially when you want the slices to look very nice. For tomatoes, I think the question may regard very thin slices. I would say this knive is excellent. For bread, I believe the question is consistent, non-tearing slices. Again, don't know of a better or easier way to slice bread. About this knife, I like the firm, secure locking of the blades. I also like the shape and control aspect of the knife relative to holding, ease of on-off switch use and comfort of adding pressure when needed during cutting or filleting. Best electric knife I have used. Jim
Answer: I have not use it for bread or tomatoes but it does good on fishs
Answer: I have only used it on fish, we have cleaned many fish large and small, it cuts through rib bones and then fillet the skin away very easy, over all last long time
Answer: Have not used it for that but it makes beautiful filets out of 7# fish. This is our top choice after trying several others.
Answer: Like butter
Answer: it is a fish fillet knife
Answer: Very well
Answer: We use our knife mainly for fish but, I think, that it would work fine for any other normal electric knife use.
Answer: use it to fillet fish only
Q:
Does knife have steel gears?

Q:
is this made so you can plug into 110 wall outlet
Answer: Plugs into standard 110volt outle.
Answer: Yes you can. The grip is a little strange but over all it is a good knife.
Answer: Yes ..I have went through a Lot of knives...this is by far the best one I have had
Answer: Yes but this knife is not very good. I wish I had never purchased it.
Q:
Can i purchase the electric knife with only the 5.5inch blade? due to arthritis i have a difficult time knifing & need a shorter blade. thanks
Answer: iwould purchase the knife at all. mine was a problem from the start. poor quality and not reliable. it is now residing at the dump
Q:
Do you know of a good hard case i can buy to store this in?
Q:
is there a 12 volt converter for this model? if so, what is it and where can I find it? Thanks
Answer: I have one from Power Bright, PW400-12.
Answer: not that I know of,if you wanted to use 12 volt,a 12 volt DC to AC inverter works good.
Answer: I don't think so. The 120volt cord is attached to the knife and I don't think it comes out. Fyi, this knife is the cats meow of electric fillet knives.
Answer: Not that I am aware of
Answer: no

Q:
Are the gears made of plastic or metal?
Answer: I purchased this but I don't really like it, the teeth on the blades are very aggressive. Ok back to the question in hand, haven't had to take it apart yet so I'm unsure of what the gears are made of
Answer: Looks like plastic. And the knifes holders is plastic after 6 months of used the blades keep falling off
Answer: I don’t know, my problem is where the blades go in, how do you clean it. We got fish blood in there, can’t spray water in their
Q:

how many blades come with it ?
Answer: When you purchase this item from us (Catering Online) it comes with the following as originally shipped by the manufacturer:

Q:
Did the manuf. solve the hard trigger problem?
Answer: I have not had a problem with the trigger switch. I have filleted both smaller and larger fish so far with no problems. works great. I have all different blades that come with it and have had no problems. Works just as great slicing meat as it does fish.
Answer: I have not had a problem with the trigger switch. I have filleted both smaller and larger fish so far with no problems. works great. I have all different blades that come with it and have had no problems. Works just as great slicing meat as it does fish.

Q:
Has anyone tried this for carving jack-o'-lanterns?
Answer: It would work for rough cutting for sure. You will not be able to use it for making intricate detail work though. I just filleted a bunch of reddrum with it no problem. A pumpkin would be a non issue but you won't be able to make one of those artsy contest pumpkins with just this. It's a good knife for heavy scaled fish like reds, snapper, sheepshead or big ones like amberjack. Happy Halloween #KAGA
Answer: I bought this knife and returned it after using it one time. The blades were flimsy and it was underpowered. I wouldn't recommend it.
Answer: I have not but i would think it would do a great job. Mine came with five different blades, one of which is a little shorter which i think would work well.
Q:
Is this Knife made in China???
Answer: The knife is made in America. The replacement blades are made in China. They are ok but not as good as the blades that come with the knife.
Q:
Does this have the 40 mm motor?
Answer: Yes . The best electric fillet knife I’ve ever owned
Q:
What are the sizes and types of blades than come with the 5 blade package?
Answer: I saw this knife in action and knew I needed to have one. I knew I wanted it two thin blades because they go through the fish so easily. The other three were a bonus and know I will use them someday. I have filleted over 100 catfish, 50 crappie, and numerous sandies. Not only were blades sharp but because of thinness the filets came out great.

Answer: Never tried!
Q:
Is this the latest model?
Answer: Hello From American Angler
Answer: Don't know if the latest but the best most powerful one of any on market. All my friends in, south la. have started using it with awesome success and are recommending to their friends.
Answer: This is the most recent model I am aware of, but it is the BEST electric knife we have ever come across. My husband and I fish a lot and filet all our fish and this one is the BEST.
Answer: I am pretty sure they stopped making the older models. I couldn't find the older ones anyway. This one does have more power and is a very good knife. I think it is expensive but still a great knife.
Answer: I'm not sure since I bought my 2 in May 2014 so they may have a new design by now. Sorry. Best on the market though.
Answer: Would not know.
Q:
Will this knife cut through chicken bones?
Answer: I doubt it. I bought this knife and returned it after using it one time. Get the Rapala Heavy Duty. It's twice the knife at half the price.
Q:
Is this fillet knife that much better then rapala's or mister twister's electric fillet knife?
Answer: This knife is not worth the money at all. I had 2 knives that only last a week each and the trigger went out on both and there is no way to return them to Amazon. I would not purchase this knife again.
Answer: I find it to be powerful and stays sharp. Good Knife.
Answer: I feel yes it is better! It has better power and the knives last longer. It's much better on the larger fish because it doesn't slow down as bad going through the larger bones. I would say it is considerly better!
Answer: much better than mister twister, I don't know about rapala
Q:
is there a model number available?
Answer: The model number for the item pictured is 32352.
Answer: No number that I am aware of. It's the American Angler Pro. Model. The 8 inch saltwater blades r the best on any fish fresh or saltwater.

Answer: 32352
Q:
what is the difference between a pro and a american angler model number 32300
Answer: I believe the Pro also comes with a set of five different knives which I find very helpful. Also included is a safety glove and nice sturdy travel bag. As for the performance the Am Angler is far better than the two others that I have used. If you have used other electric knifes, I'm sure you will see a huge difference with the Am Angler!
Answer: The knife is kind of weak and expensive compared to the older models of american angler knifes
Q:
Is this knife safe for wet areas (boats)?
Answer: It is 120 Volt knife if you must keep it on your boat put it in dry storage. By all means keep it away from salt spray ! ( Great Knife, I have 2 and one is 12 years old)
Answer: We use it at home cleaning fish and on the ocean boat cleaning fish. The environment is typical with fish parts and wet surfaces.
Answer: I just use mine on the bench. However when we have 30 fish to clean it gets pretty wet and sloppy and haven't had a problem. Just cleaned 36 bass on sat.
Q:
Is it cordless?
Answer: It is not cordless. It runs on 110 volts.
Answer: No it’s not cordless. The cord has not been a problem for me. The cutting power is always there with the cord.
Answer: No not cordless.....but it is a tough, good knife...
Answer: No, it requires a cord
Answer: No
Answer: No it's not
Q:
Are the 'torque' gears plastic, like the other brands?
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: This model features a hybrid transmission of brass and highly engineered super polymer gears.
Q:
Whats the difference between the salt water and freshwater blades?
Answer: I think its just the width of the blades. I use the narrow blades for pan fish and the wider blades for carving turkey and hams. It also has a long blade for shaving roast beef or slicing bread. We clean a lot of pan fish and all five of us all prefer this knife over all the others.
Answer: Don't think there is a difference except the size of the blades.
Answer: Saltwater blades handle the larger fish much better as blades are longer.
Q:
My american angler electric knife motor burnt up ? does the company work on or replace a burnt motor? respond asap thanks

Answer: 8 feet long
Answer: 8 feet
Answer: About 8ft
Q:
is the knife available in a cordless model ?
Answer: Unfortunately it is not
Q:
Can it cut fish bones
Answer: Will cut through fish bones with no problem. The shark blade is bad to the bone !
Answer: I'm able to cut through tough scaled redfish and they're rib bones with no problem. Many of the guides I know have used they're American Angler fillet knife on a daily basis for trout and redfish and the knife keeps on cutting.
Answer: The American Angler is the best that I have ever used! It cuts large bones easily and stays sharp longer! It also provides a nice verity of knives.
Answer: Yes, it cuts through fish bones. Our fishing guide recommended this knife and my husband loves it!
Q:
Can you use this on melons?
Answer: I returned it after using it once. Very disappointed.
Q:
Is this a good knife for freshwater fish? That's all we fish for.
Answer: Yes, it's great for freshwater fish. We fillet speckled perch (crappie), catfish, large mouth bass, etc. with it. Works better than any electric knife we've used before.
Answer: this is a good electric fillet knife if you buy the kit it has 5 different blades has a stronger motor i use mine for cleaning panfish, walleyes and salmon it is well worth the price / good fishing dan
Answer: I think so. It's worked great for me and all I fish for is freshwater fish also (walleye, northerns, etc.). Works better than the 4 or 5 other electric knives I own.
Answer: that is the only fish i have ever used it on i dont fish in salt water
Answer: yes it is iv had mine for over a year just love it.
Q:
What makes this knife so much better than all the others out there that are half or less than half the price?
Answer: I like the knife my friend has the same brand but not as good a model his works very well but gets. Hotter with prolonged use I have used mine for 4 hours straight without stopping his he needs to let rest every so often . I also like the blades that came with mine it easy to do small fish with the blades that are 1/2 the thickness but they can be bought separate . I have bought and and still have a Berkley knife and a tatertwister knife they was a a waist of money in my opinion . I hope this helps you make your mind .
Answer: I have 2 of these knives my old knife is 15 years old and still kicking. I live on a bayou in Louisiana an fish all the time. I have no idea how many fish i have cleaned with this knife from Red Fish to Perch. The reason I bought the second one was to be sure i would have another one when the old one craps out. This is the best i have ever owned. If you want quality you have to pay for it !
Answer: The knife fits your hand, but that's not why I think it's the best there is. It's a much faster running fillet knife. You will clean fish so much better with it than any other fillet knife. Less meat loss.
Answer: there tiger shark blade is the best i have ever used, knife it self has never boged down and burned up like mister twisters
Answer: ITS A BETTER BUILT KNIFE I LOVE THIS THING !!!!!!!

This makes fileting a fish a breeze!!!!!!!!!!
Amazon Customer : One Star
Horrible product!!! Used once, overheated, wouldn't turn off, blades were dull!!! Absolutely horrible!!!
Amazon Customer : product is awesome. Clean a lot of fish and it does ...
Received quickly, product is awesome. Clean a lot of fish and it does a very good job!!!
Rashid Riggins : DO NOT BUY, WON'T LAST!
I've had this knife for a couple of months or so, and I went to use it the other day and the black button that you push to release the blades has gone limp and now just stays pushed back. So blades no longer lock into place. I thought that at this price I was buying something that would last. I was wrong. I will update with a pic soon.
Rick H : No Instructions - Gets really hot
Last time out we did pretty well with 6 nice trout, 3 black drum and a sheepshead.
No problem at first with the trout, but by the time we were halfway through the 3rd the handle was really hot.
So we carried on manually until the trout were done.
Drum and sheepshead are a little more of a challenge so we thought we'd try electronically again.
Didn't know which blade to use as there's no instructions showing the best one for the fish species.
After trying 4 blades and making a mess of the first drum we went back to manual.
Brenda Shreve : Not impressed
I bought this knife a year ago. It gets hot after cleaning three fish and the lock button sticks badly.
Vanessa : Great knife!
I purchased this for my husband & he LOVES it. Our fishing guide was using one like this earlier in the summer. He recommended it & we are very satisfied!
DKW Amazon Customer : Best knife ever
I have spent hundreds of dollars on knives to filet my husbands many catches from fresh water to salt water and this knife is far better than any and all purchases combined. The video they showed is real!! The knife cuts that easily but you have to make sure you have the blades locked in place. The various blades that are included are great blades that help filet different types and size of fish.
Scott Tyler : Five Stars
Great Product
Shawn R Foust : No customer support!!!
I paid more for this knife thinking it would last. The knife died 3 months out of the warranty window. Impossible to find customer support. Don't waist your money!!
Les L Skinner : Great product
Works good
Amazon Customer : It is Guide quality
I am a fishing guide. There are 7 other guides at the marina where I work and we all use these knives. We love them. We clean 30-80 Striped Bass every day per guide and these knifes are the only ones we've found that last long term. I go through one every couple of years. There is a secret to making you knife last a long time and it is..........new blades!!! If your blades get dull, the knife must be pushed to cut. The blades for this knife are higher than most other brands but you get what you pay for. We change our blades out at least once a week. I tried the Titanium version but didnt see any difference except the price.
jd : Yes used it to cut a chair cushion worked

It was delivered on December 3rd 2020. My husband didn’t use it until today, March 26, 2021. He said it stopped working after 15 minutes of cleaning the fish he caught. I’d like to exchange or get a refund.
KRK : Good knife, terrible button assembly - If you clean lots of fish or big fish, consider different product.
Please believe the poor reviews. I purchased this knife in Feb 2016 for cleaning catfish acquired in Bull Shoals Lake in Arkansas. As I missed last season due to a torn achilles, this is the first season of use for the knife. We are avid spear fishermen and the season starts June 15. As the lake was 30+ feet over flood stage, the larger catfish were more abundant than usual - hence getting 5 catfish between 12 and 18 pounds. Now to the point. I am far from a professional cleaner BUT proficient and very meticulous in getting all the meat cleaned from the bones. For those of you who clean the larger fish, you know there are quite a few cuts necessary to accomplish this task especially with catfish - even the cheek has great meat to harvest. That said, after cleaning 2 fish, the button mechanism began to stick and the only way to turn the knife off was unplug it. The spring in the button is not strong enough to push the button back out if there is any accumulation of fish "matter" on it. It appears that it even gets inside the mechanism to stick the button on - causing the knife to heat up as many other reviews indicate. After paying over $130, I am very disappointed in the performance as I figured that a better knife would get me through the task of cleaning the fish. I had another American Angler (not PRO) for many years until the gears stripped and the blades would no longer move. This one operated properly for 2 fish and is now ready for retirement - unless I want to continue using a knife that does not function properly. Sadly, when the knife is on, it does clean well - and if the button worked properly, I would not hesitate on 5 stars. Unfortunately, I did not use it right away and cannot return it for a replacement - if in fact that it was a one-off faulty product.
Vanessa : Great knife!
I purchased this for my husband & he LOVES it. Our fishing guide was using one like this earlier in the summer. He recommended it & we are very satisfied!

Amazon Customer : Awesome knife
This is the best knife ever no clue how we got by without it all these years and we fish a lot
MNM : Beware-arrived used/w-blood inside
Purchased this splurge item to gift host on Memorial Day. Fortunately I read the reviews and made sure to look inside blade handle. Photo a bit blurred -but it was taken with handle still strapped to cardboard. Blades appeared smeared with something- not bloody though. SENDING IT BACK- betting it gets recycled/sold again. Beware

This knife gets really hot if you cut a lot of fish. Other than that, it is a beast.
Richard H Goodman : Gets way too hot to last
Bought this knife with 5 blades @ $160 with tax on 4/23/2020. I have used electric knives to clean fish for the past 30+ years and cleaned many thousands over the years. I have always used an electric knife, primarily the Electric Fisherman, but wanted an exceptional heavy duty electric knife that would last a long time. This American Angler Pro Series is not the knife. Blades are sharp and heavy duty motor but the motor got so hot (felt through the vent holes) after just a few catfish that you can hardly hold it without a glove on. I've been around long enough to know this knife motor is going to burn up - just a matter of time. I've never had an electric knife that got anywhere near this warm/hot and and after barely starting to clean fish. It's a defect. American Angler has to know it and still sells it. I emailed the warranty dept and asked what to expect with a knife that gets this hot after little use - no answer so far. I plan to return this one.
Paul C. Sider : Best knife on the market.
This is the best knife to filet with. I have tried just about all the sporting goods stores had to offer. I fine this one has a stronger motor. Satisfied!
Amazon Customer : and he loved it!
I gave it as a gift, and he loved it!
HOGDIVER : The best

I think there are better electric knives out there but I have cleaned quite a few big reds and sheepshead with this knife. Not too bad except now it doesn't want to turn off after one year of use.

Brenda Shreve : Not impressed
I bought this knife a year ago. It gets hot after cleaning three fish and the lock button sticks badly.
Danny Peluso : Have only used the knife a couple of times and ...
Have only used the knife a couple of times and it worked perfectly. I need more time to really rate the quality of this product, maybe next year after more use. Handle is a little awkward to hold. Doesn't seem to quite fit in the hand properly.

Great fillet knife. Plenty of power and all the blades you need. Used to use a rapala rechargeable knife - no comparison to this knife.
edbone : I like this model a lot more than the last model
I like this model a lot more than the last model. The blades come out much easier than the one that has a release button on each side. This one really runs great...
