Answer: It produces a nice amount of smoke, and you want to turn it off before you remove it from the top of the drink bc it shoots smoke out of the tube until you turn it off. And I would do it right under your smoke detector. But it’s a lot less smoke than you’d get if you burned something on the stove so I personally don’t think that would be an issue. It reminds me of taking a long draw in a cigarette and blowing the smoke out - they type it smoke flow

I bought this as a gift for someone who likes to cook, including sous vide, so adding smoke is a nice option. This thing works like it says and provides a great deal of smoke very rapidly. It is heavy enough to stay put while moving the tube to the container, and the tube is long enough to reach where you need it. I accompanied my gift it with this six-pack of wood chips: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07ZBJB1YS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1, also sold on Amazon, and found it to be a nice wood variety and plenty to utilize for years to come because such a small amount of chips is needed to create a ton of smoke. The glass cover or lid and extra ports to make your own larger vesicles really opens up your options for smoking everything. It stinks up the whole place long after cooking thought, so I do caution that you open a window or do it under the hood vent.

The gun is a good size, it comes with 2 tiny pots with wood chips (they are not labeled so i do not know what kind they are); the small screen mesh where you put the wood chips don’t fit really well, but like i said, it works and it does the job of smoking. I would not necessarily recommend it, unless this is all you can afford.
I do like all the accessories that it comes with which is why we picked this one, the cover to smoke a drink, the extra small mesh rounds (in case you loose them) the drill bit to make your own smoking containers, all those are great to have.
