Hi what line class is this setup for?
Answer: The Gaffer Sportfishing Standup Shoulder Harness is setup for any class line you'd like. We mainly see this harness used for marlin, shark, tuna or anything else that requires a long fight and you can choose to secure your rod to the belt or let it freely sit in the rod holder.
Q:
How does it hold up? Would you recommend for big game fishing?

Will this work with a bent butt rod?
Answer: You should have no issue using a bent butt rod.
Q:
what is the smallest waist size this accomodates? (seeing if I can get one for my sister)
Answer: Our stand up fishing shoulder harness can accommodate a minimum of a 39" waist if you would like it to be sung around your waist. Since it has shoulder straps some prefer to have it a little looser fitting around the waist. If this product is too big check out our wide body fishing belt that accommodates waists/hips as small as 33".
Answer: If you tighten everything up , you can probably get down to a 32” waist, maybe 30”.

Customer service reached out again to see if I have used the replacement belt (I had not) It speaks volumes that this seller is willing to do whatever they need to to make it right, and to ensure your happiness with their products
So I purchased this 2 months ago for land based shark fishing and here’s what I have found:
Pros:
Comfortable
Initial integrity test passed (hooked up to a receiver hitch)
Price
Seemed pretty well put together
Cons:
Not as big of a plate (still felt good)
It was 5 star to me until I took it out
To the the beach for one weekend, it stayed in a tote the entire time, and home, sprayed it off and repacked it in the tote when it dried. Two months later, I opened the tote and found corrosion on all the metal parts. I was pretty bummed after seeing this since it literally spent no time in open salt air.
Update**
Incomparable in customer satisfaction! They reached out to me before I could follow up with them, and explained how this was a pretty isolated issue, and sending me a new one. It will be a couple of months before I hit the sand, but will follow up with additional reviews.
