product description
Dehydrate fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices, jerky, and fruit rolls at a fraction of the cost of commercially dried foods. Dehydro digital electric food dehydrator includes 6 transparent drying trays, 2 fruit roll sheets, and 2 nonstick mesh screens. For added drying capacity, this model is expandable up to 12 trays (add-on trays sold separately). Select precise temperatures and times with the digital thermostat and timer. Choose drying temperatures from 90° to 165°F and drying times up to 48 hours; unit shuts off automatically. Drying progress is easy to monitor with see-through trays and cover. When not in use, the drying trays nest in the base for a 40% reduction in storage space. Dehydration maintains natural vitamins and minerals for healthy, nutritious snacks with no additives or preservatives. Dehydrate jerky made from your choice of meat, poultry, or seafood. Use fruit roll sheets to make homemade fruit rolls and strips from fresh, frozen, or canned fruit. The flexible nonstick mesh screens keep foods that get very small when dried, such as herbs, berries, and carrots, from falling through the tray grates and provide easy removal of foods that may stick to the grates, such as bananas and tomatoes. The bottom-mounted fan and heating element provide consistent air flow for optimum drying with no tray rotation necessary and no mixed flavors. Drying trays and cover are fully immersible and dishwasher safe. Cord stores in base. Accessories sold separately: Additional fruit roll sheets and nonstick mesh screens. Jerky gun and classic jerky seasoning.

Questions about National Presto Dehydro Digital Electric Food Presto Dehydrator, Up to 12 Trays, Black
Q:
I need more mesh liners
Answer: I think you can but more from the manufacturer.
Q:
How do I buy more trays?
Answer: You would need to contact the manufacturer. But keep in mind the more trays you add the longer you will need to run the machine. You would do better to purchase a second unit or look at getting an industrial model. Or experiment with dehydrating in a microwave or your kitchen oven.
Q:
How is the clean up process with this model? Not the trays, I mean the bottom portion where things drip.
Answer: You may wipe the base clean with a damp, soapy dish cloth to clean the base. Keep in mind juices from produce and marinades should be pat dry before placing on the trays to avoid dripping into the motor. This will also shorten the drying time. If we can help you further, please reach out to Presto Customer Service. We are available weekdays from 8:00 – 4:00 Central Time. Please call 1-800-877-0441. We are more than happy to help!
Answer: My food item does not have any heavy liquid components, so I use a hot soapy sponge to clean mine and just make sure to wring out any excess water before wiping down the base unit. Most dehydrator bases cannot be submerged, so I often use parchment paper to line the bottom as well as the fine screens the unit provides. These make cleanup even easier.
Answer: Clean up is great. I spray hot water as sometimes gooey banana or a few pieces stick. Awesome machine by the way.
Answer: Easy. Usually not much there and wipe it off.
Q:
How does this compare to the large Excaliber dehydrator?
Q:
estoy buscando un deshidratador en 220 volts ?
Q:
Can the temps be lower than 90 ?
Answer: No, 90 is it’s low setting. 90-165.
Answer: The 06304 Presto® Dehydro® electric food dehydrator temperatures will range from 90 -165 degrees. If we can help you further, please reach out to Presto Customer Service. We are available weekdays from 8:00 – 4:00 Central Time. Please call 1-800-877-0441. We are more than happy to help!
Answer: Hello , 90 degrees is the lowest setting for temp settings, I just tried it , it goes from 90 to 160 degrees. Thx.
Answer: No, the temperature range for this model is 90° to 165° F
Answer: No, that is the lowest it can go
Q:
Does it work well for making jerky? This is my goal for primary use.
Answer: The Presto® Dehydro™ electric food dehydrator makes jerky very well. You may use your choice of seasoning or a marinade, whatever you prefer. However, we do caution you to make sure the meat is patted dry when using a marinade. The juice could drip and come in contact with the motor, shortening the life of the dehydrator. If we can help you further, please reach out to Presto Customer Service. We are available weekdays from 8:00 – 4:00 Central Time. Please call 1-800-877-0441. We are more than happy to help!
Answer: Made beef jerky a few times came out really good. Took about 8-10 hrs depends on the thickness. Make sure you put it on a baking sheet and in oven like the book days.
Q:
Is this model bpa free?
Answer: The 06304 Presto® Dehydro® electric food dehydrator is BPA free. If we can help you further, please reach out to Presto Customer Service. We are available weekdays from 8:00 – 4:00 Central Time. Please call 1-800-877-0441. We are more than happy to help!
Answer: All food plastics are BPA free.
Q:
How deep are the trays?
Answer: The trays alone for the 06304 Presto® Dehydro® electric food dehydrator measure about 1.5" deep. However, the screen to the top of the tray measures about a half inch. If we can help you further, please reach out to Presto Customer Service. We are available weekdays from 8:00 – 4:00 Central Time. Please call 1-800-877-0441. We are more than happy to help!
Answer: They are about 1.5 inches from food surface to tray edge. When put together fir use, the trays are stacked opposite each other, so there is about 2-3inches between the bottom of lower tray and bottom of upper tray.
Answer: When not collapsed for storage, they are at least an inch deep. One of my first forays was whole strawberries, they had plenty of room.
Answer: Not sure what you are asking. I didn’t measure them. However, I have dried assorted fruits; mangoes, apples, figs, banana, and also tomatoes without any problem. I hope this helps.

Product reviews of National Presto Dehydro Digital Electric Food Presto Dehydrator, Up to 12 Trays, Black
Amazon Customer : Awesome machine!
So easy to use!
Javeline : Great for small batches
I like the product. I use it to dry venison into jerky and its quick and easy to do. Clean up is a breeze.
Grandma Cece : loud but easy to store
Haven't had any issues. I just use it to dehydrate pear skins and it has worked great. It is loud. I put it in an unused bedroom while it is in use
Lisa Sanborn : Great machine!
Easy to set up, clean and store. Love it!
Miss J : Excellent food dehydrator
We have been using this dehydrator for a couple of weeks now. This dehydrator has met/exceeded our expectations so far. The first thing we used it for was to dry some king oyster mushrooms I had gotten for a good price, and I am very pleased with how they came out. It's easy to clean, and I like that it's square. Gives it more dehydrating area, or at least it seems that way. I recommend this unit, especially if you're new to dehydrating food (as we are). Very intuitive and easy to use all the way around.
Karla T. : This is the Best Dehydrator Ever
This is super fast, I put meat in and within a couple hours it is done. The first time I did meat it turned rock hard because I treated it like my old dehydrator which took forever. Easy dishwasher clean up.
Shaggzy : Works well, loud, need to use to determine length of time for each food
It is loud, a little more than my previous one. The time ranges are suggestions. I found it takes longer for most foods than the information pamphlet lists. Other than that it does work well.
While I have been making jerky and using dehydrators for over 30 years I can unequivocally say this is the best dehydrator I have ever used.
The controls are easy to set any allow for precise control of temperature and time which is critical in making jerky if you want it a particular consistency - which I do.
This set comes with 6 trays fit for drying most food stock, such as meat for jerky or fruit for dried fruit. Also there are 2 nonstick trays that are used for making flat dried fruit sheets, similar to roll ups (I have never done this, so I can’t comment on how that works). Finally there are 2 mesh trays used for drying herbs and the like.
While the manufacturer claims rotation of trays is unnecessary I found that not to be the case. As with all dehydrator systems, while in use the trays must be rotated. Approximately every hour I move my bottom tray to the top, as the bottom tray always receives the most heat and air flow.
This Presto 06304 can accommodate up to 12 drying racks, I checked the price on the additional racks. They are item number 06312 and are sold for $24.99 for 2 but are not yet available on Amazon. I assume they will be soon. While most will find 6 racks plenty if you are presented with a large quantity of venison to turn into jerky the extra racks make a huge difference.
The trays are relatively easy to clean. Due to using a heavy, rich marinade with my jerky the trays are always a mess when I’m finished. I soaked mine in soapy water for a few minutes, used a dish scrubber then put them in the dishwasher and they all came perfectly clean.
I love the rectangular shape and how the design of this unit makes it easy to store when not in use. The cord secures within the base so it is safe and protected when stored. I have 3 dehydrators not including this one and they are all circular, each of the others takes up far more area.
This is an outstanding product by Presto. I have loved working with it and l look forward to making lots of jerky with it in the future.
This is an great buy that I definitely recommend.
Grandma Cece : loud but easy to store
Haven't had any issues. I just use it to dehydrate pear skins and it has worked great. It is loud. I put it in an unused bedroom while it is in use
rita atkinson : Good machine
I would like one with pull out trays but this a great one for my daughter to start dehydration. Apples were SO good
Mom2three : Didn't know what I was missing
This is my first dehydrator, and I had no idea what I was missing out on. It may be this machine (no way to compare it at this point) but I have been on a dehydrating kick. I've dried fruit, herbs, and meat, and have been pleased with all of it. The machine is easy to use, doesn't take up a huge amount of space in my kitchen, and it's saving me a ton of money. The digital temp controls and timer are very nice, the instructions are thorough and easy to follow, it's easy to clean, and the products I'm making taste so much better than what I was buying at the store.
Dave Lakhani : Good Small Format Dehydrator That Get's The Job Done
Since I got this dehydrator I've dehydrated fruit and made Jerky and on both accounts it did great. I will say that you may have to adjust drying time based on where you live. It is winter and little more humid than normal right now and I noticed I needed a little extra time with the meat, but not a big deal.
Two things I really love about this device is its compact footprint and ease of clean up. The dishwasher safe racks make cleaning up a snap.
One thing that is bothersome but not unexpected is the noise, the fan is definitely noticeable so after the first batch, I just moved it out to the garage and let it run there. Again, that may have affected my drying time but it is easy to adjust.
I haven't tried making fruit leathers yet but that's really not my thing. I have done apples, pears, bananas and mangoes, all with great results.
Unless you are doing very large quantities at once, I think this is the perfect dehydrator for regular home use. Bonus, my daughter likes making her own snacks so that makes it just a little better!

Nicole Ledet Breaux : Love this for deer jerky!
Works great & very easy to use! Made deer jerky with it so far & it came out great!
Sawdust Gypsy : Great Dehydrator
I have had this over a month now and have run it 2 to 3 times a week at 160 degrees to process candy. Each time this has done an excellent job at dehydrating. It took a little to adjust how I use the space it offers to get the best results, but I find this with all dehydrators and this is the fifth model I have bought in over 30 years. My product is heavy in sugar and moisture, so getting it dry enough for storage and sale is extremely important, and this unit did an excellent job at it.
M Meadows : Loud and Very very slow
I bought the Presto Food dehydrator last fall. Used it this Spring. Takes 2 to 3 days to even get thinly slices onions partially dry. Does not work well. Would love to return it..
Steve and Amy : Loud
You will need a place to run this as the fan is loud, as loud as the hood in your kitchen. If you have a door to shut it should be fine, but if not after nine hours it will be annoying.
There is a lot to do dehydrating food. Prep the food: clean, peel, slice and pretreat some foods so that they don't turn brown. We used the lemon juice pretreatment. Prepping the food and clean up can take a half hour to an hour or so. Then you stack all the pieces of food on the trays with none touching. Plug it in and set the time and heat.
For our first try we did 3 apples and 3 bananas which filled all of the trays. After a couple of hours we checked and ate a couple and then every half hour to an hour. While they tasted great the consistency we wanted took the full 9 hours.
It took several reads of the instructions to really understand the procedures. They are different for fruit, vegetables and meats.
The food does taste great, makes for a great snack but all was gone in no time. Next time we will start earlier in the day and just let it run the full time.
Patty J Bagley : Fantastic
Easy to use and store; worked great! Dried tomatoes, apples, beef and chicken jerky; can't wait to do more.
Alchemy5150 : Happy with purchase!
No issues here! Works to the liking of my girlfriend. We’ve dried herbs, cherry tomatoes, bananas, cherries, mango, and apples. You need to figure out the temp and timing. Depending how high you stack it, the lower racks will dry faster than the top, and therefore take longer than recommended in the guide. This isn’t a deal breaker for us. You just place it for longer. Gets the job done! It’s not a quiet dehydrator, but that doesn’t bother us.
Annie : Easy to use...
This is a dehydrator for removing the water from vegetables, jerky, fruit, herbs, and spices. I am excited to receive this product for a fair and honest review. I have a much older dehydrator that is on its last legs. We love deer jerky and I just took a batch out of the new dehydrator and it looks great, tastes delicious and was easy to make. The Presto dehydrator was easy to use. It comes with trays, 2 sheets for fruit puree, nonstick screens. You can add more trays. The product has an adjustable thermostat and a digital timer. There is an automatic shut off or a maximum 48 hours. I use a dehydrator through out the summer and fall for dehydrating vegetables, herbs, and during the winter I will be making jerky. I have not tried the fruit roll yet. I realize I could freeze most of the produce and herbs but the taste is much better dehydrated and it takes up much less storage room,.
MarinersFan95 : Noisy and takes days to dehydrate.
This machine stores well, but takes days to dehydrate properly. It is so noisy we had to put it in a storage room. I would not recommend. This was my experience with prune plums anyway.
Mom2three : Didn't know what I was missing

Doug Murry : Digitally controlled dehydration
Does exactly what i bought it to do. Don't know how long it will last, but for now, it's all good.
Christy : Beef Jerky
We get a lot of deer meat from my dad and got this in order to make beef jerky. It is able to dehydrate a good bit of the meat at one time, thanks to the four trays, and does very well. It has a temp control feature, is easy to clean up, and has even encouraged us to try dehydrating other foods and we have been eating more fruit!
dee dee : love it
I use it all the tie,its so easy!
Greendrgon : Somewhat noisy but works well and does clean easily Big bonus for that
for a first time dehydrator this is a pretty easy one to use. Each rack is easy to insert/remove from the machine. Clean up is so simple, as almost all parts can be run through a dishwasher.
The noise level is a bit higher then other units I have used in the past. However, it isn't so loud that it drowns out everything around you. But do understand that is loud.
Overall, it is a great starter item, doesn't take up a huge amount of space and does work. I didn't try various things at the same time, like fruit and leather. I did the same thing in each tray at one time. Results were pretty great.

Emily E : Really easy to use food dehydrator!
Presto dehydrator. 6 trays which are top shelf dishwasher safe. Easy to use digital temperature settings and timer that does 30 minute increments. Once I read the instructions and understood how to properly stack the trays it is super easy. A minimum of two trays are needed to operate the dehydrator. The booklet has instructions for how long different types of foods and what temperature is needed for each. The top of the lid has some temps listed too for easy reference. I like that you can stack the trays a certain way to collapse them down and it makes the unit easier to store. I have dehydrated a bunch of fruits and really enjoy the taste. This is great fun and has mixed things up for our snacks and oatmeal/ cereal toppers.

anonymous : Loud fan
Like the space saving stacking trays. It does take a long time to dehydrate food and the fan is pretty loud.
Amazon Customer : Awesome machine!
So easy to use!
Susan : See through layers!
We have a dehydrator, it's round. My husband insisted that we needed a square one because when he makes jerky it's better to make straight lines. So now we have two dehydrators. Likes: Clear trays Square Digital thermometer Timer!!!! So far the trays have been easy to clean (we did banana which can sometimes be a mess) Compact
Dislikes: The trays took a little bit to figure out which goes which because they are compactable, this caused the trays to not line up well and if moved seem to not stay stacked well. The motor is on the bottom, therefore the bottom is not soakable. From past experience, we've had to soak our trays because the juices drip down and then bake on. So if this had a top motor instead of the bottom motor we'd be able to soak all the dried up drippings easier.
All in all, I'm happy with the purchase, but if I could have found a clear tray square dehydrator with a timer with the motor on the top, I would have chosen that one.
