Answer: No, it is not flexible once it has completely dried. It is rock-solid/-hard!

How many square ft does one can cover

Answer: I did the bottom of my drift boat. Best I could figure was about 50 sq.ft.. Two cans did one coat. I put on 2 coats. A little hard to spread it out that thin, but it turned out real nice. I poured it on and used a roller with a thin napped cover, like the ones used for epoxy.

Answer: Yes on the wood deck, but let it cure then use a carpet adhesive to place the carpet. Otherwise you will never get the carpet back up again. This stuff is epoxy.

Is this the same thing as/similar to epoxy floor paint? I am looking for paint for my basement floor and was told epoxy is best for basement floors.

Answer: Not that i know of. this is a sealant an glue. I have not opened it yet as the weather is not suitable for the planed use. If you are planning to paint the basement floor their are many products available. Be sure to wear a mask and use a fan to ventilate the space during and after you paint. Epoxy is flammable so turn off any gas powered equipment till the paint is dry and the fumes clear.

Answer: The price is not conducive to putting on a floor. I can be cost effective for small patches of walls & floors. I used it on a fiberglass boat with mediocre results. Any of the big box stores and even Wal-Mart have epoxy based garage floor paint at more reasonable prices. The Goop stuff was a huge mess on a boat as it is hard to work with and dried quickly: I could not imagine doing a floor with it!

Answer: I believe that it can be used on wood per comments another buyer "Worked well for waterproofing a custom piece of wood for part time water immersion use. Keep in mind the shelf life from the manufacture date is one year."

Answer: I am sure it would work well for that, but keep in mind it does not cover very many square feet.

Answer: Amazing Goop Coat-IT dries to a real hard and slippery finish. Like any Epoxy Coating, in my opinion, you could mix a non skid product in the mixture. It will be a little hard to spread, but when the mixture hardens, it should leave you a Non-Skid Finish.

Answer: i used it on the inside and outside so far so good. i cleaned the boat down to bare metal then wiped it down with alcohol seems to be holding good. the goop is a little runny.

Answer: You can. Mine never sealed but I didn't turn my boat over. If you turn the boat upside down to do the bottom it should allow it to flow into any openings.

Answer: Hi, The Coat it is a sealer and is pretty thin already, It goes on like thick paint and will run when applied to vertical service. I read the can again, looking for any info about thinning. The only thing I could find was you can clean tools with Acetone or lacquer thinner prior to the epoxy setting up. Just remember, it is already pretty thin.

Answer: No it does not contain biocide or copper. it contains Graphite and Kevlar fibers mixed in with the epoxy

How much surface area does 2lbs. cover

Answer: Not much. I used 2 cans on the bottom of a 17' (average width of 3' for calc. sake) long metal drift boat and barely got the job done. It is difficult to work with and temperature is key. Warmer is better. Love the material though. Awesome when done! I wish I had 3 cans when I did my job. For the cost, I'd buy an extra can just in case.

Answer: It seals out water very well,as I used it to repair leaks in an evaporative cooler,but it is not clear,it is a rather dark translucent charcoal color after mixing.

I have an aluminum pontoon boat that I want to put a spray coat of zinc chromate primer on first, then this epoxy. Will the epoxy adhere well?

Answer: That depends on the whirlpool tub material: it can be stainless steel, polyblend plastic or fiberglass. The Goop has a consistency of watery oatmeal and will slide down vertical surfaces unless you keep brushing it up until it dries, a very difficult task. In order to get it to stick you have to prep the tub material. It should be lightly roughened with a fine emery cloth and cleaned with acetone or a solvent that will not harm your tub material. I have not had luck patching a polyblend surface with Goop. Well roughened fiberglass, aluminium & wood is what I have had good success. Good luck!

Would this be appropriate for refinishing a bathroom sink that has become very porous and easily stained?

Answer: Doubtful. Too soft. Might consider a two part marine epoxy paint.

Answer: No I dont think so. Because ,you might hit a rock or something hard and the mower would cause a hard impact , I feel it would cause this product to chip off and cause serious damage to the blades or possibly hit however is operating the mower. This stuff sets up extremely hard .

Answer: It may work well if you treat it as a two surface glue. The surface of the mower deck and the surface of some shaped aluminum flashing. The flashing is easily cut to fit the repair area and will give better protection against flying soil and rock particles. Remember to coat both surfaces and apply pressure to the repair during the curing phase.

Can you apply this on the inside of a boat Hull after fiberglass is done

Answer: I don't know but this seems redundant and expensive as fiberglass is already waterproof and much cheaper if done correctly. Use this where you cannot use fiberglass such as an aluminum boat with leaky rivets. This seeps down into the small cracks etc. And dries rock hard yet flexible enough not to crack when the aluminum flexes.

Was a little hard to work with,but no harder than most products similar to it. Also was cheaper than most. Did it stop a bad leak in my little jon boat. YES! For the first outing anyway. Was having to bail out water every hour of about 2 inches deep before using. After: no bailing at all. I can't speak of how long it will last, but my feet were always soaked after fishing. Went home with dry feet.

Used it on my 15' aluminum lake boat, which had developed pin holes and seam leaks after replacing the wooden floor. Made sure the bottom was super clean (with acetone) and roughed up (with steel wool). Applied on a warm day with NO pollen in the air. Mix as directed and you'll get plenty of time to apply it easily. It comes out battleship gray, which I like, as you can definitely see that its gone on properly and to the desired thickness.

I haven't had the boat out since applying the coating last Fall, but hope it sticks properly, as aluminum can be picky about what gets applied to it. Very good price.

Cures slowly so you can control the viscosity during usage----cures quite slowly.

This stuff is awesome. I applied it to the bottom of my aluminum Jon boat. For a 10 ft by 36" boat 2 Lbs did the whole bottom one good coat and up the sides a bit. Definitely do it in the shade or on a cool evening. It sets up fast.
I used self etching primer and then paint over top of it & it's still slick as... Well you know. You can tell a difference in the resistance on the water.
The boat was old, beat up and a project. After this stuff applied, no leaks at all. Dry as a bone.

Once I mixed the resin and hardener together, I had about 20-25 minutes of working time at 75 degrees. It started getting thick toward the end. In hindsight, I should have bought the 8 pound container instead of the 2 pound. The 20 sq ft coverage held pretty accurate for me. I ended up needing 24 sq ft so needed to buy another 2 pounds to finish all of my 12 foot aluminum boat rivets... but could have had 8 pounds for not much more.

I applied it yesterday, I’m happy with the dried product overall very slick and a hard epoxy casing around all rivers and creases. It is not enough to do a 12 foot aluminum V boat. You will need two to do it right. But if you are going to just do one side (top or bottom) one will suffice. 4 stars because it was about 10 minutes working time realistically rather then the 30 minutes listed on the can. After 10 minutes it becomes a very thick honey that is cold = will no longer spread with brush or roller more like dabbing it everywhere at that point.

While it was my fault for not reading the large can instructions first. I put the contents of the first can into the big can not knowing that this was not to be done. That you had to just take a small portion of the little can and a small portion of the big can and put it into another container and mix it. What I did, ended up having the big can contents becoming solid.

Seems to be strong dried kinda black. Make sure you’re ready before mixing otherwise you’ll be wasting it gets super hot after 20min don’t spread easy once it starts curing. Did all revites on my 98 bass tracker. Will update after water test. Mix it well before applying otherwise you’ll have little wet spots and it won’t dry!

Worked great on my 16' Aluminum boat restore project. Make sure you have everything ready when you mix this product. Working time is right on the money. Once it sets it's practically bulletproof. Finds its way into all the seams and rivets for a complete waterproof seal. The coverage was spot on , I covered every riveted seam on the bottom and outside transom on a 16' aluminum and had just enough with the 2# kit. Using on my Mastercool evaporative cooler to abate the rust in the pan and elsewhere. Tried Flex Seal for 2 years-now have holes in the pan, that didn't work for sure. Hope this works better! Cooler is only 21 years old so it should last forever now if this works.

Worst epoxy material I have ever used. Doesn't mix completely. Applies like tar. One side of boat dried in 10 hours. The other took three days. Horrible surface. Never ever again. (I have successfully put barrier coats on several vessels using other systems (esp. West System) and they worked perfectly.

I'm unimpressed. It did not cover nearly as much surface area as it states in the description, and only provided a barely adequate coating. I bought the 2 lbs. kit to waterproof a 30 gallon wooden tank I built, but it still has substantial leaks. While I have used other two part epoxies before, this is my first with this band. Perhaps I did it wrong this time... although I doubt it. I will have to buy another kit and give it a second coat; it's a good price, but you do get what you pay for.

You want to seal your rivets? This stuff will do the job! I have a 16ft Jon and beat the hellnout of it. This stuff sticks and won't come off. Even a grinder has a hard time removing it. It is very flexible and very strong. Will not crack, will not let go. My boat took on 5 gallons of water an hour, now it is dry as a bone. Used this stuff for years on multiple jobs.

Piece of advice. Want a smooth looking jobs, put it on light. A little will go a long way. This stuff creeps like penatrating oil does, then it sets up. It can be hand sanded to further smooth, and power sanded will build heat to fast and wont sand as well as hand sanding.

You want it bullet proof? Well then puddle it around and over the rivit. Next to brazing this is the most solid and durable way of sealing the rivit.

The 2# kits are great for small projects. I wanted to cover the bottom of my 8' alum pram.
I thought one kit would work. Needed a second kit to complete and is a very thin layer.
Product was easy to mix and apply, but make sure to work in the recommended temp range for curing. I had to add a space heater when the temps dropped.
I have not tested the pram after application for slip and lubricity as advertised. I will do that this week. I have another fiberglass mini driftboat that I plan to repair and do the same coating if it works on the pram.

Awesome paint. I used this to coat the inside of a cabinet on a boat where we could not find a leak. IT STOPPED THE LEAK. It seemed to find its way into the little crevice. So happy and highly suggest. It is a little hard to work with, but if you have a similar application, for the price it is worth a shot.

My Jon boat would leak a little water here and there. I flipped it over and grinder around the rivets and applied this on the whole bottom of boat no longer leaks! Also very tough stuff! I do recommend this! It dries a brown color not silver!

I used this GOOP product to seal the worn rivets on a well-used aluminum canoe. This canoe had years of service on shallow Missouri rivers, which means a history of rough bottom-dragging. Some of the hull rivets were worn smooth at their heads. When floating, water slowly but surely seeped in through the weak spots. For the repair, I masked a clean borderline strip around all of the rivets. For the extremely worn rivets, I first applied a patch of JB Weld. Then, after mixing up this GOOP product per the directions, I (or my daughter) just brushed it on inside the masked border. We were left with a clean-looking and attractive cover over the rivets, and the product has held up very well on further shallow floats. The boat is sealed and is as good as new. Recommended.
