My brother is the family fisherman. Initially he was dubious about this stringer but after a fishing trip he came back a believer. It is easy to use, surpringly sturdy and functional. The stainless stelel is strong and durable. He was certain it would be a twited mess that he would have to untangle but there was no twisting or tangling at all. Well designed and well made it truly is a fisherman's friend.

This was a gift to a family fisherman. The fisherman reports: This fish stringer is very smartly designed. It does not tangle and it is strong and apparently durable. It will corral fish of various sizes.

Overall he is very happy with it. We have at least two fishermen in the family, so I must divide the fishing aids between the two. They become very enthusiastic, and more than ready to try out these new contraptions and helpers. 5 stars!

Kindle Customer : Good for kayak fishing

I do a lot of kayak fishing in the spring for panfish. I usually catch my biggest panfish in the spring since they are on the beds. I've always had a problem keeping the fish in good shape as it gets warm. I don't like keeping them in a bucket since I have little room for it in the kayak and find that a mesh "in the water container" is too hard to deal with. The Hunter's stringer is a very good solution.
The large clips which go through the gills and mouth are large enough to keep the fish alive and easy to attach. The fish go deep enough into the water to be out of the way for casting and bringing the fish up to the surface. Since the stringer also has a small float, it is easy to use on shore as well. I seldom keep the bigger fish like bass, but the stringer is large enough for them.
I can paddle and the stringer does not hinder the kayak.

Michael : NOT for catfish over 5lbs.

Do not use this for catfish over 5lbs. I have lost 2 catfish both being just the only fish on the stringer. The spring that is supposed to secure the hook failed when the fish barrel rolls and the hook opens. I will try once again and this time securing with a zip tie before throwing it in the back of the closet. The size of the hooks are great and fit a 12lb flathead catfish no problem BUT this thing is hardly Heavy Duty by any stretch.

Considering how much I paid to buy this, I expected a crappy product, which is not the case here. The stringer is actually a very good product. The stainless steel cable is quite long and strong, of smooth wires. The hooks are sturdy and function well. A good purchase.

What impresses me most with this stringer is the high quality. It is super durable. It has a floater to keep the fish off the bottom and a stake to anchor to the shore. Surprisingly it avoids tangles. I would recommend.

The quality seems quite good. After using the stringer on a canoe trip, I did come across some annoying problems. First, I wish it came with more clips as it didn't take long to fill up. 8-10 clips total would be a nice addition. Secondly the total length of the stringer gets annoying real fast. The black spooler used to wrap the stringer around has no locking point to keep the string from unspooling and getting tangled on everything. wouldn't be an issue if the stringer was 6feet instead of 15feet.

I bought this stringer and just finally started using it! Today was the second time I actually got a fish to put on it. I put a 22" and a 25" redfish on two of the clips and secured it to my kayak. I pulled up the stringer to set the fish in my yak to move spots and found the clip that the 25" Redfish was on OPEN and EMPTY! I was furious! I do not recommend buying this stringer. It takes a lot of effort to catch fish just to be let down by the piece of equipment that you trust to keep your fish secure.

The product itself is well made but the dimensions are incorrect. It states that it is 7.0in. X 2.7in. What I received is 5 1/2" X 1 3/4". If the dimensions were as stated, then I would have kept this purchase.

This a real good product and a great value. The only reason I did not give it five stars is because the spring latching system is good but I did have a 8 pound catfish pop the latch. Did not loose the fish because the hooks are pretty stout

Nicely built. However this is for big fish, like a stringer of salmon or tuna! Not good for trout sized fish, and too big for most tackle boxes....

Nicely priced and well designed, this fish stringer will do the job especially if you're going after bigger fish like bass or salmon. Nice large gill clasps. Heavy duty construction. You can probably put multiple small fish on a single gill clasp if you're out fishing for something like perch, but I already have a fish stringer designed for small fry. Clasps open and close easily. A useful addition for just about any fisherman.
