Answer: With the handle extended it is 7' long. that is with the 20 x 20 hoop size

Answer: I do believe they are. I drilled though the handle to create an additional handle extension stop point. These nets are fantastic and sturdy, but not too heavy. I have both the 30x34 and 20x20 - could not be more happy with them.

Answer: It's a telescopic two piece handle, with one piece being about 24" and the other piece about 20", giving you a 44" handle when they are extended fully. They will both collapse and nest within the net's 20" loop for easy storage. The handles are very sturdy and made from a heavy gauge metal, and the spring loaded locking buttons engage well. I only extend it one handle length for my needs, but it will give you a pretty good reach if you have a boat that has a taller freeboard height. I don't see why it wouldn't be a good choice for blues/stripers

Answer: This is correct! Perfect for boat fishing. A bit heavy for river fishing but I use it for sockeye on the Keai anyway...or on the boat.

Answer: Should work great. The rubber covered netting doesn't let the fish get all twisted around like in the old school nets! Hope that helps! Fish on!

Can I use this net to catch smelts and herrings?

Answer: The holes in the mesh are quite large. The net is really only designed for big fish. They would have to be really big smelts.

Answer: Can’t say for sure but I’d think the holes are too large for herring unless really good sized...same holds true for smelt I would think as well.

Answer: you probably can , the mesh is fine enough , but if that's what you're going to use it exclusively you'd be better off with a lighter duty net.

Answer: Not sure why. It's a very sturdy, well-made net.

Answer: Not sure about the mfg model numbers, but I have a Phoenix 619 bass boat with in floor net storage. The Ranger 458TS is the exact same net ( 20 x 20 ) except it is rubber coated instead of the string type that hooks get buried into easily. Fits perfect in my storage, and works great.

Answer: Can't give you an answer in terms of king salmon, but I bought this net for boating big pike in Canadian Shield lakes. It can handle 25 lb pike with ease. I'm impressed with how well this net is made--world-class quality in my opinion. The rubber coated net makes catch and release a breeze.

Answer: I have been using this Ranger net, rubber coated, on board my charter boat for years. I have netted, landed and released bass over 40 pounds, as well as some very large super tough cow nosed rays that are big, heavy and brutal when netted. Ranger nets withstand the test everytime!

Answer: I've used the net a handful of times and haven't had any snagging to date.

Wow, what a great product. This replaces a good net that looks similar and has a telescoping handle, but it didn't have rubber netting or a flat bottom. And even though the Ranger net has a longer handle than the old net, it actually stores in less space in the bass boat, where space is always at a premium! Brilliant! And it is so much easier to unhook big bass in Ranger net and involves much less trauma for the fish prior to release or going into the livewell. Don't hesitate to replace your old net with one of these.

I ordered a bunch of these and two out of the dozen that arrived were damaged. One had a cut in the net and a bent frame. The other had a bent frame. A third was missing a plastic cap but I overlooked that deficiency. If you order one inspect it carefully. The nets themselves are well made and I expect them to give us years of service.

I had this same net before, and was hoping when i ordered this one it would be exactly the same and it was. The net and handle are heavy duty, yet it can be stored in a relatively small area the way the handle collapses into the net. My first one went overboard (they don't float). I attached a float to the new one.
