I would not leave it in the smoker longer than necessary. Based on my limited experience, most meats need to rest before serving; that may be wrapped in a cooler, on a covered platter or laid out on a cutting board depending on the recipe instructions.

Answer: The display cannot be adjusted. This control has optimal angles of view and can be difficult to read in direct sunlight from certain angles, similar to a cellular phone. Answer: I have the 30inch which has 4 racks in it. With that I have done 3 racks of baby backs with 1 rack of sausage and chicken wings just fine albeit I've done 2 racks of baby backs, 1 rack free and 1 rack of wings and sausage that I removed after 3.5 hrs leaving the ribs in for another 4 hrs too and my ribs came out damn good. This is due to more air flow throughout. It is important not to overload the smoker for good convection to get the best results. Hope this helps.

This works perfectly and It’s very easy. If I could do it again though I would skip the glass(useless) and the Bluetooth(almost useless). The one thing you do get with this upgraded model that I like is the meat probe but in truth you really don’t need it. Coat the brisket in mustard, then some sea salt then lots and lots of course crushed black pepper. 8 hours at 225-240 depending if you like the edges burnt. Then cover in butcher paper and go 2-4 more hours and it’s amazing. Don’t really need all the upgrades

I did not go into this purchase with huge expectations but thus far I have been ecstatic about the results. The set up is easy the the units is easy to clean and the flavor (which is also dependent upon the user) is phenomenal! The only glitch is the time control in the app. The countdown clock does not work so I use the quick timers which work perfectly! Because I have a smart watch I see the controls on my watch which I like as well. One other small drawback is the wood chip feature. I have to refill it every 30 minutes or so until I get the smoke ring I want at which time I can just let the water smoke do it’s job. All in all I would highly recommend this smoker to my friends

The smoker works well and is VERY large, larger than expected but I gather that is a plus. The only drawbacks are that the numeric display is blue LEDs which are very hard to see at virtually any angle. Additionally the Bluetooth feature needs improvement because it continuously will disconnect from your phone even if the phone is left well within range and it will also disconnect every time the door is opened. Once disconnected you need to go to the smoker and press the Bluetooth button to establish connection again.

So far so good, only used it once and I feel like a pro already. Watched a million YouTube videos on how to smoke ribs, chicken and so forth in it, keep in mind I've never used a smoker before, the masterbuilt 30 inch made it really easy for me, assembled it in about 30 min, turned on high for 1 hour to burn off factory oil, then smoked 2 large racks of ribs and 8 chicken leg qtrs(5 hrs) I used apple flavored wood chips, the family and I destroyed it, was delicious. I'm so happy I didn't listen to the negative reviews, trust me you will be too!

Like most, the Bluetooth can be a bit finicky at first. Until you figure it out. Just don't open the door, it will disrupt the signal an will need to be re-established...a bit of a pain.
I initially got this for use with my solar array, because the heating element was 800 watts perfect, actually draws 750 watts.
However the Top Broiler element is a strong 1500 watts and that threw my 100A breaker, so I won't be using the broiler on solar at the moment.
Overall awesome, mine is about 15 deg less than my pro temp sensors show. so @ 275 the actual temp inside is about 320 deg.
Works for me. I love it. less wood used for great smoke.
Clean glass right after use and clean up is a snap. if you forget, Just heat unit with a little water in the pan..., wipe and forget.

I ordered this smoker as a Christmas gift for my dad. Right out of the box it wouldn't heat beyond 180 degrees. He contacted Masterbuilt customer service and, after holding for 45 minutes, was told that they would send out a new heating unit but that he would have to install it himself. He is in his mid 70's and not really capable of working on it, not to mention that it isn't his responsibility to repair a brand new smoker that should have been received in working order!! I had read several reviews about how Masterbuilt's quality standards have gone down and that their customer service was terrible now. However, I have owned a Masterbuilt for several years and never had a problem. I should have listened to the reviews.

This thing literally broke after the first use. Temperature control doesn’t work, the wiring has a mind of its own. We called Amazon and I was supposed to get a “call back” last week which never happened. Super disappointing.

Never got to smoke anything. The first smoker was dented so bad the handle could not be attached to the back of unit. The box was in perfect condition. Returned and got another. This box was beat up, but smoker wasn't dented badly. Plugged it in to do initial burn off and it tripped gfi outlet after 20 minutes. Reset outlet and smoker ran for a few hours and seemed to be ok. Digital display was very hard to read in daylight. On second attempt at running smoker the display panel would keep scrolling thru options and not allow anything to be programmed. Decided that this was not going to be the smoker for me.

It’s a very nice smoker and has performed well. Skip paying extra for Bluetooth, however, as the Masterbuilt app is unbelievably poor. I ordered the insulated jacket directly from Masterbuilt (recommended for temperatures below 50) and while it works well, the cut outs on the top do not match the dual smoke vents on top of this smoker. That, despite Masterbuilt’s claim that it fits all of their 30 inch electric smokers. I cut my own holes to make it work.

- The wood loader handle has broken on one side (after 5 weeks)
Not only is the item falling apart but the temperature of the unit has always been low. I have verified this with two different temperature probes. The unit is a full 50 degrees F. colder than it says it is, which renders it almost useless for larger cuts of meat.
I have called Masterbuilt 14 times total and have e-mailed countless times and sent all requested photos. I have waited on hold for hours only to get cut off. Their customer support is an embarrassment and I am currently seeking legal advise as to how to proceed.
One thing is clear: Masterbuilt products and their customer service are the same - complete and utter garbage.

The grill shows it's 250 degrees, but my external probe is showing 190... no wonder the food never comes out right. Complete waste of money. Masterbuilt says that the parts are covered under warranty, but sends the wrong ones. Takes forever to get the parts, so by the time they send you the correct parts you need, it's out of warranty. This was my husband's father's day gift, immediately broken/did not work properly upon receipt and took 4 months to get the coil. Used less than 10 times, terrible product.

Used this twice & had to call for warranty parts already. It's only open during the week to get parts but they arrived quickly. Haven't had a chance to install new parts & try again yet. Update, went to install the part & it doesn't work. Due to covid the 1-800# is down so all you can do is request online. They claim you should hear back in 5 days...been 30 days and I've sent multiple messages with no response. Save your money & buy anything but masterbuilt electric smokers. Such a huge waste of money & so disappointed with the lack of support for their faulty products right out of the box. We're about ready to just through this away & be done with it now!!!!

The electric display is nearly impossible to see if you are outside in the sun (where you will be using this) and the app is terrible. I need to disconnect and reconnect multiple times during each smoke, and it frequently will not allow me to change temperatures. Had to finish my last brisket in the stove because smoker stopped working. I have had the smoker for less than a year and used it no more than 10 times. Overall as a smoker its great. Heats in reasonable time and holds temperature fairly accurately. However the "Bluetooth feature" is useless. Multiple attempts before this thing was recognized. Open the door: multiple warnings and then disconnects. Move more than 20 feet away and it disconnects and will not reconnect or find the device. The app has to be front and center, it will NOT operate in the background. You cannot use the phone for anything as long as the app is connected. The good news/bad news is that it goes off as soon as the phone goes to sleep. Remote control and monitoring is wishful thinking and not realistic with this unit or the app. At best you can get a wireless connected temperature probe from a third party, but that will not do anything for controlling the unit, only monitoring and that is an additional cost item. Things to think about if you consider the Bluetooth feature a reason to buy this unit. BTW, I purchased two of these, one as a gift for my daughter and son in law, Very disappointing!

We try to contact Masterbuilt for customer support, there is no phone number or e-mail provided on their website. The only way is to fill a form and we did. It has been 5 days and we still have not heard from them.
We called Amazon and the lady from Amazon was trying to call Masterbuilt with the phone she has, but could not reach them either.

Amazon Customer : Easy to use, makes great food
The first smoker I've owned and I love it. I've smoked a bunch of meat in just a few weeks, and it's all turned out delicious. Pretty easy to use and the components easily remove for cleaning. The Bluetooth feature is nice, though the range isn't great and sometimes it glitches out and you have to restart the smoker to connect it. The only other issue is that the chip tray isn't very big and you have to add chips about every hour while smoking, but there are solutions to this problem you can find online. Overall, great purchase!

This smoker was my second Masterbuilt electric smoker. While the previous model worked fine, this one gave me (and many others) problems from about the second week that I had it. When turned on, the temperature readings would fluctuate wildly, spiking to about 500F; soon afterwards, the unit would give an "Err2" message and stop working. Masterbuilt could not be reached by phone, and they haven't responded to my warranty request emails for three weeks and counting. Stay away from this smoker!

far as the smoker goes, it does a great job. I bought a 6 probe temp checker with blue tooth and all is in order now.
just remember you will need a box of some sort to cover the display so you can read it in the daytime.

Don’t spend extra for the blue tooth model. The blue is horrible. Disconnects and won’t reconnect even when you are standing right next to it. I contacted them and the basically told to follow the instructions. No help what so ever.

The dang thing stopped working after less than 2 years of VERY LIGHT USE. I only use it about once every 2 months. Tried to smoke a chicken today and set the temp, waited about 30 minutes and then put my chicken in there like usual. Didn't look to see if the temp was right - dummy. Came back to refil the wood and it wasn't smoking at all. Checked and it was only at about 100 degrees. Turned it off and then back on and set it again. Came back out 30 or 40 minutes later and STILL WAS ONLY 110 DEGREES!! Junk. Brought the dang bird inside and cooked it in the friggin oven. 400 dollar piece of absolute garbage.
Oh and the temp probe that you shove in the food to monitor the internal temperature- yeah that quit working after only 1 or 2 uses.

We purchased this item on June 15 and it came damaged. Item was returned for another within two weeks. After a few weeks it stopped working. I had purchased a warranty and contacted Master Build. The recording advised to contact them by email and download all the information on line. I spent a couple of hours writing to them to advise of my problem. It has been 2 weeks and no one has contacted me. I decided to contact Amazon who immediately took excellent care of my needs. I am returning this product and getting a full refund and will not be ordering from Master built again.

I'm not sure why they are even making these when there is known issues with the technology. Our first one worked 3 times before it got an error message and wouldn't work anymore. We sent it back and waited for a replacement which turned out to be a waste of time as it worked one time before displaying the same error message. Do not invest this much money into this smoker. Buy something that actually works and save yourself time, hassle and money. I can't get my money back for the extended warranty I bought for this pile of junk so now I am out that money. It has been almost a month now since I sent this piece of garbage back for return and still haven't received my money back. It's incredible how long return shipping is taking and incredibly ridiculous to hold my money for so long for a defective product. DO NOT BUY THIS SMOKER! This is my second electric smoker from Masterbuilt. The first one is at our cabin, and I bought this newer model for home. I haven't done much with this one yet, but I can see already the pros/cons:

- Electric is the way to go. I had a propane smoker before, but temperature control was really hard. As soon as the sun hit the black box it would jump up 75 degrees. Or if the tank ran empty, I wouldn't notice for a while. Electric smokers self-regulate, and with the wood box you get plenty of smoke so the taste is great.
- This one has a built in meat temperature probe, which is super nice. For my older one, I had to buy an extra gadget that I use to remotely monitor meat temp from inside the house.
- When it works, the bluetooth app is nice, especially in winter, so I can set/change my program from inside
- They added a handle and wheels to this model, which my previous Masterbuilt is lacking. Very helpful.

I bought this smoker for the Bluetooth feature. First, it won't stay connected between the unit and the app on my phone. As for the App...it is the absolute most worthless App I've ever come across. I can't get the timer to work, Connectivity is miserable from anywhere in my home to the back porch where the smoker is located. As for the smoker, the information data is in blue and cannot be read in any kind of daylight. I found the only way to read it during the day or in limited light at night, is to view the data from an extreme angle above and to the side (about 170 degrees) of the smoker display. This smoker could have received a much higher rating from me if it were not for these major issues.
Amazon Customer : Do not buy from Masterbuilt
The digital values on the controller on my electric smoker are not visible except at night. I contacted customer service with the eventual outcome that they do not have a controller to replace mine since the smoker has been discontinued and they also would not send me a replacement smoker since they have none in the warehouse. I had the smoker less than a week before I contacted Masterbuilt. In short, they will not back-up the warranty since the unit is discontinued yet it can still be purchased on Amazon and other outlets. Not only will I never buy from Masterbuilt again, I feel Amazon should pull all Masterbuilt items from its site. I gave the smoker a one star only because I was not allowed to submit a zero.

Terrible product and service. Bluetooth is bad, unit went into SAFE mode for no reason. Could not correct even by uninstalling and reinstalling app.

I've used it a few times before the cold weather hits and plan to smoke Thanksgiving turkey in it as well. Only draw back is it's a little smaller than I anticipated. I won't be able to smoke an 18lb turkey but should be able to get a 15lb in without too much trouble. If you like your baby back ribs whole, this is not the smoker for you. Best to cut them in half to get them on the racks. The smoker is not wide enough and definitely not big enough for whole spare ribs.

Leatherneck : East to use without babysitting! Works great!
This is my first smoker and it works great! I don’t have to babysit it and the internal probe makes watching the meat easy! I like how you can load in the wood chips without opening the door and can see what you are smoking through the glass. The one complaint I have is with the app. You have to push the button on the smoker whenever you close the app for a good bit of time. It will still work but there is an annoying text box right over the information you need. If they fixed that, this would be perfect.

Dennis Simmons : Faulty display panel
The control panel that displays the temperature of the product is the worst. You turn it on and you cannot read the digital part of the display so I wrote to the company the company writes me back you need to keep it out of the sunlight that was their response to me apparently there’s an issue with that because reading some of the reviews I am not the only one if I would’ve known this I would’ve never purchased this product plus how poorly the company went to take care of this issue if the lighting is faulty the company needs to do something about it and resolve their issues.
There are so many other smokers out there that I for sure would’ve went in a different route and picking the one that I wanted it has a Bluetooth settings that works otherwise it would be worthless

Mogadishu 207 : Very easy to use - great taste
It came very well packaged (see pictures). Setting it up took me about 15 minutes (it was so well packed, removing the packaging took the longest :=)
Using it is very simple. I followed the instruction on first time use (very well explained in the manual). It took about 3 hours to prep for the first time. After that, I put the meat (turkey in my case) inside, inserted the probe in the meat, added wood chips and it worked like magic.
Connecting my phone to the smoker was the biggest challenge, but so easy to overcome. The manual says to push the Bluetooth button and pair it with the phone. The reality is that you have to "press and hold" for a few seconds to be able to pair the smoker with the phone. After that, whenever you are out of range and you come back within range, you just click on the Bluetooth button (do not press and hold) and it reconnects immediately.
Th display works great, but is not very bright if outside in the sun. However, I never have to use it as I do control the smoker from my phone at my convenience.
The built in alarms in the app are also very helpful. I use them all the time.
Finally, the most important thing is the quality of the food. The smoked turkey legs were simply fantastic. They were exactly like the ones in Disneyland (or so say my kids :).
I recommend this smoker as I like it very much.

if you buy this smoker, you are not going to be happy of your purchase because the Bluetooth is the worse thing you can ever buy on a Master built smoker. The Master built that we had purchased cost us over $400.00 on Amazon we had it for 2 weeks and opened the door and the heat element stopped working, We tried it manually and on the Bluetooth and nothing works or happens. I now have a "Expensive Garage Ornament" which I would like to drop kick into the road. Don't get me wrong I ran with Master built since 2007 I had good luck with the MB20071819 and the MB20071117 and was forced to buy this smoker because the other smokers were not in stock.

I purchased this unit because it came with Bluetooth but I quickly found out it sucks. The application and Bluetooth feature is such a piece of junk. I have wasted so much time re-installing the app and cycling power on the unit to make it reconnect. I can’t keep the app connected. It keeps going into safe mode. Plus when I use 2 other temperature probes I have noticed the temperature isn’t correct. My ThermoPro I’ve calibrated with boiling water so I know it’s accurate.

The grill shows it's 250 degrees, but my external probe is showing 190... no wonder the food never comes out right. Complete waste of money. Masterbuilt says that the parts are covered under warranty, but sends the wrong ones. Takes forever to get the parts, so by the time they send you the correct parts you need, it's out of warranty. This was my husband's father's day gift, immediately broken/did not work properly upon receipt and took 4 months to get the coil. Used less than 10 times, terrible product.

Overall, the smoker is easy to set up and keeps it's temperatures well. There is one major usage flaw and one major quality flaw to consider before you buy this. The usage flaw is that the control panel (you can also use the app on your phone) is IMPOSSIBLE to see in sunlight. Completely unreadable. But as I said you can shortcut this problem by using your phone as the control. However, the design and quality of the wood chip inserter gets a flat out F. Fell apart in only two uses. It is a flimsy poorly welded and uses thin tin/aluminum which cannot possibly last as designed. Once the scoop breaks you'll need to find a way to insert the chips and close the hole.

This thing literally broke after the first use. Temperature control doesn’t work, the wiring has a mind of its own. We called Amazon and I was supposed to get a “call back” last week which never happened. Super disappointing.

I bought this for my husband for Christmas. It came in time and he opened it on Christmas morning. He was preparing to use that day but when he assembled we noticed the front panel was dented and when he tried to turn it on, he discovered the digital control panel was not working. On Saturday December 26th we went on to the Masterbuilt website and registered the smoker (as instructed) and were able to send them a message stating our issue. They responded to our email on December 30th and it stated that the part was ordered and we will receive an email when the part ships. Today is January 10th and we have not heard anything more. I am very disappointed in the customer service to this point.

Tried it for the first time. Set up was easy. Seal was perfect. Compared to my older smoker, it requires much less wood. At least, I did not smoke up the entire subdivision with this unit. One minor drawback is that unit does not have uniform temp distribution. Easy to mitigate by rotating your food at half point. Being an engineer, the vent location is not optimum as it is located straight up over the side of the heating element. This will dissipate heat and smoke before it has a chance to rotate. Recommendation is to move the vent to the opposite corner for next product improvement. Meanwhile I will try to keep the vent closed as much as possible. I intend to use the heck of this smoker until it breaks down and the timming for that is yet to be determined

Worst mistake of my life!!!! Bought this item to smoke a Turkey for Thanksgiving. Put it together immediately gives an error code. (Err 1) I tried calling Masterbuilt closed for Thanksgiving. So yep I was screwed. Brand new items should not show up Broken!!!! Finally Spoke to Customer service. Asked them to overnight me the parts and they told me to return it. What a joke!!!!! Will never buy a Masterbuilt product again!!!!!!
Schmiddy mcgee : Smaller than expected, great product still
Assembly was easy with only one discrepancy. Odd rack size only allows for proprietary drip pans and baking pans. Not big enough for a whole brisket but fits a porkbutt fine. The app works to a certain extent but only wkth bluetooth and the range is maybe 15 feet. With all the nitpicks it takes one star off however the meat product this has produced for me is amazing, great bark, easy to keep humidity up with a good sized water pan, cleaning is fairly easy, and it doesn't take a ton of wood for a deliciously smokey product. Very good little machine with a few quirks that most can work around.
