Questions about Pellet Smoker Tube, 12'' Stainless Steel BBQ Wood Pellet Tube Smoker for Cold/Hot Smoking, Portable Barbecue Smoke Generator Works with Electric Gas Charcoal Grill or Smokers, Bonus Brush, Hexagon
Q:
How do you stop the smoke when you’re done cooking?
Answer: I just let it burn out. It will smoke for six hours fully loaded. If you know you only want a couple of hours of smoke stuff some aluminum foil in first. This way the pellets are at the open end and will light easier.
Answer: Hello, thanks for your question about our Afanfei smoker tube. For your safety, I suggest you can kindly use water to douse the fire source.
Answer: You can either empty the burning pellets out of tube or douse them with water.
Q:
Will this burn long enough for salmon? Supposed to be 12 hours.
Answer: Yes, salmon does not take long to smoke. Mine had gone 10 hours plus on a pork butt.
Answer: Hi, don't worry. It can. This pellet smoker tube is with a length of 12 inches large capacity.
Answer: I get 6 hours with it full of pellets
Answer: Meat stops taking in smoke flavor after about 4 hours
Q:
Can you use wood chips, i disnt see anythingsaying you could use wood chips?
Answer: Hello, this pellet smoker tube work with wood chips well. You can mix these or stack them in the tube.
Answer: You can use wood chips , you get a longer burn with pellets thoigh .
Answer: You can, they will burn up very fast and not give the desired smoke the pellets do. The pellets just sit there and smolder putting off continuous smoke.
Answer: Don't know for sure I haven't used it yet. It is recommended for a good burn use pellets
Q:
Why does it appear as if one end is open? Are there caps for both ends?
Answer: One end is open with no cap. Yes it seems all the pellets would just fall out and some do but for the most part the pellets just sit in the tube and their shape seems to lock them pretty well. I’m speculating here but if there were a cap it would make lighting the pellets fairly difficult. Using a propane torch is recommended. The tube would get pretty hot after burning 10 minutes making putting on a cap tricky.
Answer: One end remains open, there is no cap for it .
Answer: Dear customer,
Answer: You are correct, one end is open, the other sealed. When you fill it leave about 3/4" gap at the top so that when you lay it down the excess doean't spill out. I've used it for a while and haven't had any issues. It may be a bother if you plan on moving it around a lot, but otherwise fine.
Answer: Well, you gotta fill it from an end. Caps or not on both ends (just one end). Just used it. You won't be disappointed.
Answer: One end is open. This is the end you fill and light from. You do not want to pack it to tight or it will not burn properly. Works very well with a constant even burn.
Answer: The end is open to load pellets or chips . The tube lays on its side while the pellets are smoking. A loaded tube will smoke for about 5 hours.
Answer: No caps one end is open to load wood pellets
Answer: One end is open so you can put the wood pellets in
Answer: Yes
Q:
What is the best method to lighting the pellets in the ube?
Answer: hello, we recommend you use propane torch lit the top of smoker tube.
Answer: Propane or MAPP gas Torch. I use a push button self igniting one.
Answer: Use a propane torch. Gets them going good and works fast.
Answer: I use lighter or matches
Answer: Heat gun
Q:
I see alot of gas grills on the reviews. How does this tube work on a traditional charcoal grill???
Answer: Exactly the same.... get the tube with the pellets smoking and start cooking. Gas grill you can indirect cook by turning a burner off, with charcoal, have half the grill low heat so you can have the smoker do its job. It's awesome!
Answer: Dear Customer,
Answer: When you are cold smoking, you don't want the heat. The "grill" is simply a vessel in which to hold the smoke. If you are using the tube to add smoke flavor to food and grilling I typically add the smoke flavor in the same way, cold smoke for the flavor and then finish by cooking with the heat from the grill. You can have the tube in with the grill fired up but keep it away from the fire of the grill or all of your pellets could burn up from the flame impingement adding a lot of heat but not so much the smoke.
Answer: I would imagine you could. It is for cold smoking, so your charcoal is not lit. I use mine with my pellet smoker but the smoker is not turned on.
Q:
Do you have to pre-light this to use in a pellet grill?
Answer: Hello, thanks for your question about our smoker tube.Unlike traditional circular smoker tube, the special hexagonal smoker tube can stay steadily and will not roll on grill grate. Open cap at one end is for easy filling and lighting. Closed cap at other end keeps pellets inside. The whole smoker tube is made of high standard 304 grade stainless steel that is anti-rust and heat-resistant. With excellent workmanship, the smoker tube is very durable and will not be broken or bent after long-time use.You should pre-light then can use our smoker tube.
Answer: Yes you do. Light in the open end with a propane torch, may take a couple of times to get it going. Stand it on end, light and let burn for about 5-10 minutes. Blow it out and lay it down on the grill grate. Smoke On.
Answer: Yes, you have to fill it with wood chips and light it and get it to smolder.
Answer: Yes.. Plenty of videos on YouTube on how to use. Works great on cheese ????
Q:
How long should I "Cold smoke... pork butts, ribs/brisket etc." since the description clearly says that's intended use?
Answer: Dear Customer,
Answer: I don't know how long you you should cold smoke your pork butts, ribs briskets... I bought mine for cheese But I would say smoke them for 5 to 6 hours would give you a great smoked flavor!
Q:
Can this smoker tube be used with a kamado style grill such as a bge or vision grill?
Answer: From what I have seen it can be used with any type grill or smoker. Fill it with pellets, use kitchen torch to lite it, when it smolders lay on grates. I use mine all the day time from low smoking temps to 375 on my traeger.
Answer: Dear Customer,
Answer: Yes. You can use it on any grill, gas , electric, or stick burner. Use quality wood chips or pellets for best flavor.
Answer: Any grill
Answer: Definitely it’s awesome A lot of extra smoke
Answer: Yes
Q:
will it go out after you take it off the grill or do you just let it burn out?
Answer: Dear Customer,
Answer: have to let it burn out
Answer: It will go out if you dump the pellets out. Otherwise you just let it smoke itself out. Hope this helps
Answer: You just have to let it burn out. About 4-5 hours.
Answer: Just let it burn out. Mine lasts 4-4.5 hrs.
Answer: I use mine on a gas grill which never takes very long, so I wrap it with foil so it goes out quickly. Otherwise it goes to waste.
Answer: I just dump mine out when done
Answer: I fill it about half full maybe a little over smoke my cheese until it goes out roughly 2hrs or so take my cheese in date it and seal it go out it is generally cool enough to dump ash out and clean up put back in smoker shut lid ready fir next time
Q:
Can you just lay the tube in between the burner covers of a gas grill so they'll light, then turn them off and let it smoke?
Answer: Dear Customer,
Answer: To answer your question, perhaps. But you also could just buy the $12 dollar butane torch from home depot and use that. I ain't your papa tho .
Answer: Its best to use a torch like a lighter and burn the wood chips. You dont want to put direct flame on metal because it will erode faster. Once chips are lit let sit for 5 min then blow out
Answer: I don’t believe so. It seems u have to light one end and let it burn thru but I have never tried that
Q:
I'm curious how much heat this will generate? In the grill on a 45 degree day will it create enough heat to raise the temp in the grill to 60 or 70?
Answer: It might raise the temp a little but just smolders smoke. It does make a heavy smoke and lasts a while. The initial start has the most heat then once blown out nearly glows. Great for when you want that heavier smoke flavor or for cold smoke cheese without adding heat
Answer: Depends on how big of a grill you have. Its possible.
Q:
I want to add additional smoke when cooking over a campfire. If i threw this on the fire, would the tube eventually deteriorate?
Answer: You wouldn’t want to put it on the fire. Once you light the pellets, they slowly burn which lets out the type of smoke that imparts flavor. The tube is meant to be used in a covered grill. You’d just be wasting pellets.
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: I would strongly discourage placing this tube in an open camp fire, as the high heat would deteriorate and possibly melt it. Maybe setting it off to the side or on a cooking grate above the fire would be better.
Answer: I don't think the tube would last very long. I would just add some soaked wood chips if you want extra smoke.
Q:
Do I have to pre light this for it to work?
Answer: Hello, thanks for your question about our smoker tube.Unlike traditional circular smoker tube, the special hexagonal smoker tube can stay steadily and will not roll on grill grate. Open cap at one end is for easy filling and lighting. Closed cap at other end keeps pellets inside. The whole smoker tube is made of high standard 304 grade stainless steel that is anti-rust and heat-resistant. With excellent workmanship, the smoker tube is very durable and will not be broken or bent after long-time use.You should pre-light then can use our smoker tube.
Answer: Yes.. Plenty of videos on YouTube on how to use.. Works great for cheese ????
Answer: For best results, light the open end and sit back and enjoy!
Answer: No, add pellets and light open end with either a propane or butane lighter or torch.
Q:
Are you able to cook using this tube(and pellets) alone or is this something to use along with normal cooking? do i still need charcoal?
Answer: Dear customer,
Answer: You’ll still need charcoal or other heat source for most foods. The pellet tube provides smoke. You could “cold smoke” cheese and other foods with it.
Answer: You use this to add smoke to an existing grill, either gas or charcoal. Or extra smoke to a smoker. The only time I can see using this device alone would be "cold smoking" cheese or fish or some other such thing. It will not generate enough heat by itself.
Answer: If you want to cold smoke something use it alone--i.e., cheese. Hot smoking--i.e., pork shoulder needs a heat source--charcoal propane burner, etc.. to cook the food.
Answer: No. To cook you need a gas or charcoal grill. This just adds wood smoke for flavor.
Answer: You will still need charcoal, propane, or whatever you use for your heat source. The pellets only add the smoke flavor.
Answer: It only produces enough heat to smoke cheese, nothing else so you would still need charcoal
Answer: It produces a little heat but not enough to cook with
Answer: The smoke is very low heat and won't really work for cooking. Gives a good smoke smell and flavor to what you are cooking.
Answer: Used to smoke only. No in conjunction with other heat source. I smoke cheese with it.
Q:
Can I use this work on a vertical pellet smoker?
Answer: Dear Customer,
Answer: Should - as you lay it flat on the rack or floor of smoker depending on your smoker.
Answer: It comes with a hanger hook you can attach to one of the racks in your smoker
Answer: Yes it will work great put below you Meat
Answer: I would think so as long it lays flat. It puts out a lot of smoke.
Answer: As long as you have room on a surface to lay it, yes.
Q:
I have a kingsford charcoal grill. would i be able to use this for my grill? if yes how would i use it?
Answer: Dear customer,
Answer: Yes
Answer: Yes. Fill it with pellets of your choice, light it, set it on the edge of your grill and you will add smoke to your meat, poultry or fish. You can smoke cheese using the smoker tube only, no charcoal.
Answer: Yes you can use this with your charcoal grill. You can use wood chips or pellets in the tube. You stand it on end and light it let it smoke 10mins and than place it on your grill. I use pellets with mine.
Answer: Yes, you shouldn't have any problem using this on a charcoal grill. There are many videos on YouTube regarding the use of any smoker tube.
Answer: Yes as long as you have pellets to burn in tube. Can cold smoke cheese and salmon too!
Answer: It will work great with that. you just fill it with wood pellets or chips. Take a lighter or broule butane torch to it to get it slow burning. throw it under the hood.
Answer: The video shows you how to use it . And this thing can smoke in anything, if you had 2 of them in a closet you could smoke something. The container is not a real variable . Best of luck
Answer: Will work as directed,if you have the lid on.
Q:
Are the S hooks stainless steel?
Answer: Dear customer,
Answer: No they are not. Stainless steel will not stick to a magnet.
Answer: I think so but I do not use them, I just put the smoker on the grill. I seems to heat up faster that way..
Answer: No. Chrome finish
Answer: They appear to be
Answer: Yes
Q:
Does my grill need to be turned on/producing heat in order for the tube to remain lit?
Answer: If the tube is well started & burning well it will continue to smoke until all the pellets are burned. Make sure all sides get exposed to air. After I finish a cook & turn off my grill I just leave it in place until it burns out.
Answer: Dear Customer,
Answer: No. The pellets will stay lit as long as you follow the instructions.
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: No, once lit, the pellets will keep smoldering and smoking without a second heat source.
Answer: Grill does not to be on.
Answer: Once you light it and there is air flow-No,
Answer: No it does not
Answer: My husband says no ????
Q:
which of these holds the most pellets?
Answer: Hello, thanks for your question. They are almost the same capacity. But the shapes are different. You can choose what you like!Square or Hexagon for your option.Enjoy your BBQ time with your family and freind now.
Answer: I'm not sure what you are comparing this to. This is a great size for getting some good smoke on whatever you are grilling.
Q:
I have followed the directions but after about 10 minutes in the grill the pellets stop smoking. What am I doing wrong?
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: Sometimes bad pellets/wood is the cause. Sometimes it's user error. Start with the best wood you can find, it's #1 nono to get the wood that is cheaper....then fill the tube up about 1/4 to 1/3 of the way. Then get a butane torch and light it till it catches fire. You want it to smolder red and gray. Then it is 100% lit and will burn for hours.
Answer: I have had excellent results when I use a torch and get a full fire burning out the top for at least 10 min. I light on the top, but also run the torch around the sides about an inch below the top of the pellets and get a good fire going. I love my smoker.
Answer: Let it sit upright and burn with a flame for about 5-10 minutes. Blow it out and then lay it down in grill. I bought a torch to speed it up to get them burning quicker vs a lighter.
Answer: Did you leave it over a flame that will burn up the pellets and they will not smoke. Try them on the fire for a short period of time then move them to an area where they can just start to smoke from the pellets. May also start earlier with the tube, you may have the meat cooked before pellets start to smoke. Store them in a dry place also. Hope any of this helps. We use ours every weekend. I also sent a tube to a friend in New Orleans that runs the superdome. He uses his to cook for his employees.
Answer: I’m not sure but perhaps the pellets weren’t lit up enough. The top part has to be on fire for a bit before you blow out the flames and put the tube on its side. I had a little trouble the first time I used it.
Answer: You need to make sure that the pellets are FLAMING well before you blow out the flame to ensure a good level of smoke. It took us a couple of try's before we got it perfected! DO NOT GIVE UP!! It's worth it to keep trying!
Answer: Not sure. I do know that you have to have air for things to burn so make sure it’s not air tight.
Q:
Has anyone used this with a weber go anywhere grill which is very small i know? use the wgag most so but looking to use with larger ones too.
Answer: Well it is 12 inches long so it will take up some space, I suppose you could put it in with the coals on lower rack if it fits. I love mine, I have 3 that I use.
Q:
How do you control the temperature when using this in a typical gas grill?
Answer: The pellets just smolder making smoke. Temp controlled at grill controller as normal
Answer: Tis device doesn't really make any heat. It just adds smoke to your cooking or smoking.
Answer: It smolders more than heats, no real issue on added temp while cooking.
Answer: It does not add much heat, as it’s only smoldering to put out smoke.
Q:
Can it sit directly on electric burner?
Answer: Hello, the smoker tube is compatible with electric, gas, charcoal, pellet grills, any type of grills of any size and shape. If directly on electric burner, entire tube on fire, it could damage your burner.
Answer: It can, I would not recommend it, most likely you will get entire tube on fire and could damage your burner. Works great filling and lighting and, make sure you pack them in a little bit before lighting
Q:
How do you use this? It doesn't come with any instructions. I tried using hickory chips to smoke some bbq ribs, and it never produced smoke.
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: I either use pellets or pellets & chips mixed. You don’t say what kind of cooker you tried to use it on. I have used it on a Traeger & Weber propane & I love it. I don’t have a torch to start it, so I put a little starter fluid on it & light it. I stand it up & after it is flaming a minute or two I blow it out & lay it down in my cooker. Use gloves for the last step. It has significantly added to the smoke flavor of meat I cook on my Traeger.
Answer: Try youtube for smoking on gas grills. You need to use wood “ pellets” and not wood chips. You must light the pellets after you’ve filled smoker tube and let it burn for ten minutes before you extinguish the flames. Then lay it above the burner or on the grill. It will provide up to six hours of smoke when full.
Answer: I use wood pellets in mine, have never tried wood chips. I get good smoke every time.
Answer: You must use pellets like used on pellet grill. It will smoke with them. You can cold smoke use while grilling.
Answer: I had good luck with hickory pellets rrather than chips. It has worked good for me .
Answer: I believe u have to use pellets. Fill with pellets stand it up. Light let burn 10 minutes. Lay on its side close the lid burns 4-5 hours
Answer: When your viewing the product on Amazon it has a video in the pictures showing exactly what to do ;)
Q:
Where is this product manufactured?
Answer: There is no sticker on it. The welds are strong and the steel is of good quality
Q:
What is the length of the cleaning brush? Will it reach down inside the whole tube?
Answer: Dear Customer,
Answer: The brush fits the whole length of the tube, works great.
Answer: Yes. So far I haven't needed the brush. The pellets burn very clean and the ash can just be dumped out.
Answer: I didn’t measure it but after using the tube I was able to clean the tube out with the brush
Answer: The brush is roughly 6” with a handle approximately another 5”.
Answer: The whole length
Q:
Can this be used on a charcoal grill, ie Weber Kettle?
Answer: I used my smoker tube on my grill with the lid down and it worked just fine .
Answer: Works with Electric, Gas, and Charcoal Grills or Smokers
Answer: Yes. It can and works excellent. When filled with pellets it will smoke for at least an hour.
Answer: Yes. Keep the tube on the cold side (aka offset), and you'll be fine.
Answer: Yes, don't place directly over coals.
Answer: Yes.
Answer: Yes
Answer: Yes
Q:
Do you use this as the heat source or just extra smoke for flavoring? Would i still need to put wood or charcoal to generate heat?
Answer: Hello, thanks for your quesiton. Our smoker tube is a heat source and also a kind of carrier. When you do BBQ with your family or freind, you can use our smoker tube to smoke the food more delicous. It is needed to put wood or charcoal to generate heat.Burn up your purchase desirate. No hestate to buy our high quality and high sales' smoker tube now.
Answer: Extra smoke flavoring or cold smoking. Yes if you want to actually smoke something at around 200-250 degrees you would need an actual heat source.
Answer: It does not generate enough heat to cook anything. It is mostly for adding additional smoke flavor. I have used it to cold smoke salt, and it worked quite well. You would need to use wood, charcoal, gas, or electric to do the cooking.
Answer: Yes you would still need a heat source for the actual cooking. This pellet tube is only for the smoke.
Answer: This is awesome. Just for smoke or cold smoking.
Answer: I use it to generate smoke and no heat. This allows me to do cold smoking without cooking. Mostly I smoke cheese with it.
Answer: Only for flavoring. You would need another heat source.
Answer: Yes you still have to have a heat source. The tube is for additional smoke.
Q:
First time i used it i got enough smoke to do a couple of steaks. since then i have not been able to do it again. are there any tips for max smoke? th
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: I have had very good luck with my smoker tube but I think the type of pellets makes a difference. I got good results with all pellets except cherry. They didn't burn very good. The rest were great (apple, hickory, pecan) the smoke lasted about 5 hours and I did mostly cold smoking. I use a butane torch to light the pellets and get them good and hot and let them burn for about 5 minutes before blowing out the flame and getting good smoke. I hope this helps....
Answer: I have shifted one of my grates on my gas grill , placed the tube directly on the fire and get it to smoke. I turn off that grate and I get smoke for several hours.
Answer: Have u tried to light from both sides? I always get a lot of smoke that way.
Answer: Make sure you use quality pellets and they must be dry. Micro wave the pellets for a short period if in doubt. Hickory our apple work well, walnut is hard to keep lit. Good luck
Answer: Fill tube full of pellets Make sure pellets are burning good if not light again clean tube win cool,
Q:
How often do you wash your smoke tube?
Answer: Doesn’t appear to need washing. Pretty much everything is reduced to ash that just easily dumps out. In my experience, no creosote or other resins don’t accumulate, they just burn away. The metal does discolor from the heat of the burning pellets but doesn’t in any way effect it’s performance.
Answer: Dear Customer,
Answer: My self i just knock out the dusk... i don't wash it till the holes are getting plugged
Q:
can i use this on a propane smoker
Answer: Hello, thanks for your question.Propane is commonly used as fuel for engines, barbecue food and home heating systems。So,we think our smoker tube is available for you grill. When enjoy BBQ with your family, please take care of fire and other safety problems.
Answer: Absolutely, it burns the pellets/wood chips independent of whatever heat source the bbq'r or smoker uses. Generates a lot of smoke. You start it manually and then just place it in your appliance to add smoke to the overall process. Worked great for me, (cold smoking cheese). I plan on using it often.
Answer: I don’t know why you couldn’t, you get it lighted and will make smoke for few hours
Answer: Yes you can place on the grate or under the burner.
Answer: Yes, you can.
Q:
For cold smoking, what temperature. It must be lower than 90 F.
Answer: Dear customer,
Answer: If you know its lower than 90 degrees why are you asking smoke tube does not produce a lot of heat but you are right should be lower than 90 degrees to keep cheeses from melting that being said ideally cold smoking should be zero heat with a smoke tube should be outside in the firebox not in smoking chamber uless its a pellet smoker then you can use ice under the cheese to keep it cool and dont smoke cheese when it a 110 degrees outside
Answer: Cold smoking means adding smoke with minimum heat to bathe your food in. I cold smoke with an ambient temperature of around 50°F by cold smoking at night and in the cooler months of the year.
Answer: When cold smoking Cheese I put the cheese as far from the smoke tube as possible. I do it in my smoker without it running it's best to wait till the temp outside is below 30°.. so below 50° Is best
Answer: keep your food away from the pellet tube. It works great! I do cheese all the time. If you have no air flow in your grill, smoker cut times in half. I’ve smoked cheese with no fan on before and it tasted like it was in a house fire.
Q:
Can i light it and leave it standing or do I have to lay it down?
Answer: I've never tried that, but I suppose you could. The little hooks are to allow you to hang it sidewise from the edge of a grill rack or anything else and I think that's how it works best. The idea is sort of like a fuse on a stick of dynamite. You could light it all at once if you want a lot of smoke, or let it burn down to the end gently.
Answer: Light it standing up and let it stand for a few minutes, then lay it flat
Answer: safety measures preferably laying down and due to the stability it standing up it may not be as secure. But yes you can leave it standing up as long as you light up enough of it on the lighting end.
Answer: The recommendation is to lay it down--this helps it stay lit and continue smoking.
Q:
Is this made in USA?
Answer: I don't actually know but it works very well.
Answer: No
Answer: Yes
Answer: That I don't know
Q:
Beginner here: so if i want to hot smoke, i light it and if i want to cold smoke, i don’t light the tube? is that how it works?
Answer: Dear Customer,
Answer: No, you always light the tube to produce smoke. Hot smoking vs cold smoking is cooking the meat vs preserving the meat. Hot Smoking is performed at temperatures that cook the meat whilst flavoring the meat with smoke. Cold Smoking involves preserving the meat by long term smoking from 1 to 30 days. Key aspect is the temperature needs to be 86° Fahrenheit.
Answer: This tube makes cold smoke only. You’d need a bigger heat source to hot smoke. Hot smoking means cooking at 175° or hotter. This tube when loaded and ignited will only generate smoke, as in col smoking food. YouTube will have some videos showing how to hot and cold smoke.
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: Cold smoke: fill and light tube. Place far enough away from cheese so it does not melt, and add an ice pan within smoker near cheese. When smoking cheese, the smoker or grill is just used as a housing.
Answer: No. The wood must be lit for combustion and therefore it smolders and puts out lots of smoke. Hot smoking is when you have your grill (whether it is pellet, gas, charcoal or wood fired) going at whatever temp you desire and use the smoke tube for enhanced smoke flavor. Cold smoking is when you use your grill on a cold day as a vessel to hold cheese, etc. with no heat source and the smoke tube burning (more like smoldering) to get smoke flavor in your cheese. You do not have your grill going. It's best to put a small battery operated fan in your smoker when cold smoking to help circulate the smoke.
Answer: I tried already cold and didn’t work , I was just being curious to see if it worked cold....but yes you must light it to work properly, and reload as often as possible it burns out quickly and metal gets hot so ware gloves or something?
Answer: I’ve never heard the “cold smoke” I doubt very seriously that would work. To light it to where it stays lit though, it is best to use a small propane torch. It really gets in there and really gets it started. Lasts around 5 hours.
Answer: I bought mine for cold smoking cheese, just light and use without any other heat. You can use it with a BBQ to smoke cooked items.
Answer: For cold smoking just use the tube lit in your bbq without it running.. if your cooking something hot but want to add more smoke flavor use it lit in your running smoker hopefully this makes sense
Q:
Where is it made?
Answer: They are made in China but are very well made and work awesome, best addition to any grill.
Answer: This pellet smoker is made in China, but works great, long burning
Answer: China I assume
Answer: It’s made in china
Answer: China
Q:
How many would i have to have for a smokehouse 3'x3'x6' for cold smoking?
Answer: These are only 12" long and 2" plus a little in diameter
Answer: Im not too sure this would be the right item for something that large.
Answer: I’d say 6 each tube loaded last 4 hours I use 1 tube for extended smoke in my traeger when cooking at higher temps it puts out a good amount of smoke when fully Inclosed
Q:
When used in a propane gas grill, do you get a smoke ring ? And how is the smoke flavor? Thank you
Answer: I would yes, you can still get a smoke ring. I would say this thing is worth a punt at 10$. Use it in my electric smoker instead of the tiny chip tray that comes on the thing. Flavor is no different, I just dont have to change the chips/pellets every 45 mins. I will say, last time I used it I had gotten over confident and didnt check it for a while (it had worked so well every time) it had went out, and since I was only smoking chicken wings. I didnt have time to put more smoke on them. This thing is great, but u still gotta check it from time to time.
Answer: I have only used it in my Masterbuilt electric smoker. I got plenty of smoke there. Temps much lower than propane grill
Answer: Have not used it on a big piece of meat yet, but I'm sure it will produce a ring considering it smokes for 3+ hours. Good smoke flavor, not as pungent as chunks.
Q:
Can you place this on a solid surface in a grill, such as deflector plates, and have it work or does it need to have air from the bottom?
Answer: Dear Customer,
Answer: I always put mines on the grill grate. For it to stay lit I recommend allowing it to get as much air as possible
Answer: yes this tube works great and solid and air surface
Answer: I think it will work regardless of where you put it. Just so you know, these things are really hard to light.
Answer: No you don’t. Wire mesh provides plenty of air to circulate.
Q:
About how many pellets can this hold in weight/ounces?
Answer: Hello, thanks for your question about our smoker tube.It is hard to say the quatity of pellets. But please kindly note the size of the smoker tube should be 12"*2".Normally,the wood pellets smoker tube is capable of holding enough pellets and will produce abundant quantity of smoke up to 5hrs. Please feel free to purchase it.And enjoy your BBQ time with your family now.
Answer: Mine last four plus hours on the smoker when full
Answer: I haven't weighed it, but I'd guess 3 or 4.
Answer: Guessing a cup & a half
Q:
Can you use charcoal In the tube for more charcoal taste?
Answer: Dear customer,
Answer: No. But you can use it on a charcoal grill
Answer: Yes might need to break up. Should be no issue
Answer: That is a interesting question. Sorry I do not know. But. I can’t see why you couldn’t
Answer: No
Q:
Is this made in USA?
Answer: I don't actually know but it works very well.
Answer: No
Answer: Yes
Answer: That I don't know
Q:
Does the smoke tube need to be filled completely, or can it be filled half way and still burn effectively for a shorter smoke time?
Answer: I don't think there would be any problem in filling it part way. Make sure the pellets are filling the tube and not spread along the bottom. I've found using a propane torch to light them works best and there shouldn't be any problem lighting say half way down the tube. Personally as cheap as pellets are I wouldn't mess with trying to burn half a tube.
Answer: You can fill it with any amount of pellets depending on how long you want the smoke to last. It is best to roll up some aluminum foil and put that in first. It’s much easier to light with the pellets at the open end. I love my pellet tube and use it with my pellet smoker and my gas grill.
Answer: Dear customer,
Answer: Half way does work
Answer: You can fill as full, or empty, as you want. Lighting it is easier with it filled
Answer: That would work just fine.
Q:
Does the shape really matter?
Answer: The shape prevents any rolling around, allows you to wedge it between burners or place on top of grill grates. This is a really good tube.
Answer: I had no trouble using it in my gas grill or charcoal grill. The shape didn't matter and the smoke kept rollin' .
Answer: Don't know but the shape keeps it from rolling
Q:
I think I will use this in my Masterbilt electric smoker. Do these create a lot of ash and if so, how to contain it.
Answer: Ash is actually fairly contained in the container itself but some will leak. Best I can say is possible tin foil below where you place it to control the ash
Answer: I am curious to know if I do use it in my masterbuilt electric smoker I want to turn the smoker on and I just don't put any wood in the tray? But I still fill it with water right?
Q:
Is this made in china?
Answer: Probably but I am not sure.
Q:
Can you uwe wood chips?
Answer: Yes, this pellet smoker tube work with wood chips well. You can mix these or stack them in the tube.
Answer: We use wood pellets or chips. Works good with both. Just soak wood chips in water before using.
Answer: Yes, I’ve used with wood chips.
Product reviews of Pellet Smoker Tube, 12'' Stainless Steel BBQ Wood Pellet Tube Smoker for Cold/Hot Smoking, Portable Barbecue Smoke Generator Works with Electric Gas Charcoal Grill or Smokers, Bonus Brush, Hexagon
Brodidious : SIMPLE, SIMPLE, SIMPLE.....
I've tried a couple of cold smoke methods, ruining a cheeit load of eggs and cheese. This tube fixt everything. Ya fill it, ya light it, ya leave it to do its job, ya smoke perfect cheese. Don't understand the silicone basting brush that comes with it, but now I own two basting brushes. Well build, should even be able to stand up to my abuse. It won't roll around like the round units, and comes with hooks to so you can hang the also hang the mother. Not to mention it was less expensive than most of the others. Quick and easy if ya don't wanna get your big smoker out...lay it all on a sheet pan and throw a box over it. Burns pellets, small chips, even dust (from the bottom of the bin) I love it!
Amazon Customer : Works as advertised
Works exactly as advertised, although it does seem a little high-priced for what it is. Complaints that I see in these reviews are from people who simply don't wait long enough before extinguishing the Flame. Spend a full minute with a handheld butane torch lighting the pellets then let it burn or 10 minutes before blowing out the Flame. Smokes for about 4 hours.
Brian : Awesome!
This thing is awesome! Doesn't burn as long as they say it does but I think that's due to it being close to the fire box. I was honestly about to get rid of my pit boss because the smoke flavor just wasn't there. This made a huge difference in flavor, used the tube twice per cook on a pork shoulder and ribs, they came out perfect. Before it would've been a light, almost undetectable smoke flavor. I had also raised my water tray up a few notches and put tin foil over my vent to allow less air/smoke to escape.
Trevor Muhlestein : Works if you let it burn at first
Follow instructions and you get a good long burn, don't and it will fizzle out in 10-15 mins. I cold smoke steaks now all the time and get great flavor. I usually only let it sit in with smoke for less then 40 mins as well. I just dump the wood that is burning out when I am done and let it finish up burning or stop burning in the bottom of the charcoal grill I use for smoking. very cheap alternative to pellet smoking and if my voice means anything I believe it tastes just as good if not better to use this device then a full blown pellet smoker.
Dave Newman : Great Smoke Enhancer (Great for Traegers)
I just bought a Traeger and was sadly disappointed in its ability as a smoker; advertised as a smoker but it is definitely not. I was looking for something that could help produce more smoke in my Traeger so I could get that smokey flavor into my meat. I bought two of these items and run them simultaneously in my Traeger and it works amazing!. Brisket, chicken, ribs all now have that smokey flavor that should come with a smoker. They are also small enough since they are a tube to be easily place in the back so they do not take up too much valuable real estate of the smoker. Recommendations if you have a small smoker 1 is fine. I have the larger version of the Traeger so two are required for the larger volume of the smoker. Highly recommend this item
Glenn Mangold : A Must for Smoke Flavor
I use a pellet grill a lot as well and prefer a heavier smoke plus cold smoking from time to time. I love this little contraption and use a mix of either pellets, pellets and wood chips (apple, mesquite, hickory etc) depending on the flavor I want. I get about 3-4 hours of extra smoke from the tube and if it is a long cook like a brisket I may refill it during the cook. Extremely happy now that I get the smoke flavor from a pellet grill that lets me manage the cook from my phone. I heartily recommend.
PD : Nice Accessory
I’ve used this several times in my pellet smoker and it works well. It would also work well on other types of grills for added smoke flavor. Fill it up with wood chips or pellets, ignite the wood with a propane torch and then let them smolder while cooking on a closed grill. It’s especially helpful when cooking at higher temperatures which does not produce as much smoke from the grill.
Jay : Hard to get to light, does work though
I give it four stars simply because it is a chore to light. Once you do get it to light, hold on to something. I would say another deciding factor to make it four stars instead of five is there's really no way to dampen the smoke. The videos you see only show these wisping smoke, mine bellows it out. Could be user error, but I don't see much difficulty in the process of set fire and watch it smoke. After getting it to light though, it did its job. Good product.

Guys I didn't really believe the great reviews at first but with this thing being so cheap I had to just try it . Its absolutely worth it , this thing is straight up cheating and living in a time were we have electric grills that regulate there own temperature... I'm ok with that :) . 2 things tho , first off a butane torch is necessary. You CAN do it without it but you will rethink your life . Second the quality of wood chips you use determines your smoke volume ,so if your not getting "I can see my smoke cloud from my front yard" results then try different chips. * if they could make a little door that closes for the top it be perfect, if you totally fill it it will spill slightly when you lay it down . Or if you bring it in the house to light it on your stove.

ergibson83 : Inexpensive solution for producing smoke for hours when grilling!!
I love my pellet tube. It took me a while to figure out how to light the tubes for a decent burning time, but once I figured out the trick, I can now get a single tube of pellets burning for about an hour and a hour now.
The trick is to fill the tube completely and then light one end of the pellet tube with a torch lighter. Once you see the pellets turn all black at the one end, you can stop lighting the pellets. This method works perfect for me. These pellets give me grilled foods and awesome taste and keeps the food nice and juicy.
This pellet tube produces so much white smoke!

Ringo : It's a smoker
This tube does the same thing as the more expensive tube. It lights easy in 20 seconds with a propane torch (you really need a small propane torch to make this easy), it smokes for about 4 hours, and you dump the small amount of ash in the garbage. The result is great tasting smoked food. I have a pellet grill and I use the tube for extra flavor and it works great. I love the extra smoke flavor for my jerky.
Denny C. : Adds the smoke!
My pellet smoker works great, but my wife wanted more smoke. When the smoker cycles around the temperature set point, there would be periods of smoke, followed by no smoke. With the smoke tube, there was always smoke in the smoker. Better smoke flavor! The only issue to look for is where you place the tube. I did not recognize that I placed it near the temperature probe, and as the smoke tube smoldering pellets passed the probe, the smoker backed off feeding in pellets, when the actual temperature in the smoker dropped. Easy fix, don’t place the smoke tube near the temperature probe.
JCE : Delivered what I expected
I bought this expecting that it would provide a steady source of smoke for my gas grill and it delivered as advertised. It’s not going to turn your gas grill into a pellet smoker but this far exceeds the smoker boxes, stainless steel smoker pouches, and foil packets I’ve tried over the years. The pellets burn slow and steady. I’m guessing the length of the burn is somewhat dependent upon weather conditions. I got about 3 hours of smoke but it was a very windy day and the air was moving through my grill pretty quickly. On a calm day I could see getting another hour or two out of it. Also - it does kick off more heat than I expected so I had to adjust my temperatures accordingly. Regardless, I’m pleased with the results so far.
Dexter Gillespie : Half what others cost
Long burn time on these babies. I got over 6 hours + smoke out of it. I like the hex design, it keeps it from rolling and it is built heavy duty. Probably get 2-3 years out of it before a burn thru.
D. A. in FL : Works PERFECTLY!!
This pellet tube works just as well or better than the more expensive name brand one. The design of pretty much all of these is the same and its a simple concept. This particular pellet tube works fantastic and gives me 4-5 hours of continuous smoke when I fill it up with pellets. I dont bother with using a torch to light it or any kind of accelerant, I just use a $10 heat gun and hold it on the end for about 60 seconds and it lights all at once with a Woosh! Then I keep it standing up and let the flame burn for about 10 mins, blow it out and put it in my smoker. Couldnt be easier.

DAT : Versatile smoker, super affordable.
I have an electric smoker which I like, but this smoke tube adds lots of versatility for under $20.
I wanted something to add smoke to my BBQ grill and that I could use to cold smoke. This perfectly fits the bill. I'd used a box kinda smoker for years, but it burned chips really fast. This tube smoker goes a long time on about a cup of pellets. They advertise 5 hours and I believe it. I used it to cold smoke cheese, it worked great.
If you're looking to dabble in the smoking arts, this is a great place to start.

Paul : Wonderful
I love the pellet smoker that I've had for about 6 months. The precise temperature control and many other ease-of-use features are great. However, I missed the strong smokey flavor that I used to be able to get when I used other smokers that allowed me to put on as much wood as I wanted and to keep the smoke going constantly. This product completely solves that problem, and the food is great again. It's very easy to use.... just follow the directions. I used wood pellets in it, and I got five hours of continuous smoke from it. Before I bought this smoker tube, I thought that the great reviews must have been an exaggeration, but they are not. This product really is that good!
Nicholas D. : Convenient, Quick, but smoke does not last long enough
Really like the design and it is super easy to use however, the amount of smoke that is give you is a lot and it burns way to fast. Would like it better if it had less holes as when you smoke you need a small steady amount. It says it will give you smoke for 4-6 hours, I am lucky to get 2 hours of smoke. Honestly I would return it if I could but I am out of the refund window.
M. Smart : Great way for smoke flavor
I tried this smoke tube after lighting on the cooking grill, it will go out if you have a tight cooker. I put it down with the coals and it works perfect. Be careful, you can over smoke meat fast, 2 hrs is about enough for me, fill tube about 1/3 of the way and lay on the coals.

GRW : Works as advertised
Using Traeger pellets, I get five hours of smoke consistently. One has to be careful not to ventilate the grill too much; this would shorten smoking time. Make sure you keep the pellet bag inside another plastic container or bag and indoors to keep them dry; that is key. Also, if you are at a high altitude the pellets may extinguish because of lower oxygen levels at higher altitudes. It's not the pellets' fault.
John Calp : Use of use.
Used to supplement additional smoke (hickey) on a Traeger Pro 780 for beef plate ribs. Overall it was a excellent cook. Easy to use with no complaints
FRANK S. : Meets expectations
The tube work just as expected. I did like that it was made with adequate material. It does not feel cheap. I also like the fact that it is mobile and not stuck under grates.
Steve : It works if you can regulate your airflow
I have a an electric smoker that I use to get that deep down smoke flavor in my foods, but wanted something that I could use with my gas grill to add a little smoke flavor as well when barbecuing. So I thought I would give this pellet smoker tube a try. The product is well built and appears that it will last several years. I used a culinary torch to light the hickory pellets, and had no problems getting them to burn. The problem I had was keeping the smoke output high enough after I blew out the flame.
The unit needs just the right amount of airflow to keep the embers going and generating a decent amount of smoke. to little airflow and the unit does not produce enough smoke or the embers die out. Too much air flow and the embers ignite the pellets and the unit produces very little smoke and burns your pellets up. I found myself constantly having to adjust the lid on my grill to get the right amount of smoke. This is most likely due to the fact that it is a gas grill and they are not designed to be able to adjust intake airflow as opposed to a defect in the smoker tube.
I can see how this would be a great supplemental smoke generator for my electric grill, especially when smoking at very low temperatures.
All in all, I think for the money this product is at least worth giving a try.
Jay : You need this
I have a trager 620 from Costco it doesn't have super smoke mode... however through Facebook group I was recommended this for more of a smokey flavor and boy it works I have one here and my dad has one as well, clean burn its definitely a must have if you love that smokey taste in your foods

GeeManTex : It ok, but not what I expected
This thing is very thin metal and the holes clog easy from the drippings. Yes, I know it is not supposed to be under where it can get dripped on, but there is only so much room and being able to hang with the S hooks. I don't see this thing lasting due to the thinness. Cleaning the ash from inside is a pain and the brush that comes with it is useless. The bristles are not stiff enough.
I ordered a different one today that is states it is thicker (Heavy Duty 20 Gauge Stainless Steel) and has a completely different hole design. We'll see how it works out.

Greg Pelletier : Doesn't provide really much smoke
If you want to smoke food this really doesn't work. It does last a long time but there just isn't enough smoke to give foods flavor. I find that a smoker box on the burner (if you use a gas drill) to provide much more smoke.
Mama Grand : Grest
I bought this to replace another similar product that is round. Who anticipated it would roll around on the grill spewing ash all over my food? Not me. This squared off unit is a vast improvement. It actually stays where you put it. Admittedly they are all a bit difficult to light but if smoke flavor is your goal, this will do it. Packed with pellets it last for hours. There is one small issue while using a pellet grill. My grill is pretty air tight, maybe a bit too much, and it has on occasion caused the burning pellets to be extinguished.
CCSWebWeaver : Smoke for 4 solid hours and still going strong.
Received yesterday, put it to use today.
Smoking ribs on a gas grill, using Traeger Pecan pellets; this little smoker tube works great!
I purchased a torch (highly recommended) to light the pellets; it took @ 20 seconds to get a good flame going. I let the pellets burn for @ three minutes, then blew out the flame, and this smoker has been going strong ever since!

Hot smoke, cold smoke, coal smoke, chips smoke, chunks smoke; which one to choose?
As a fairly accomplished home cook and occasional caterer (for select friends only), I enjoy making incredible food.
I started experimenting making Lox, or Gravlax, after a recent trip to Seattle, having been impressed with the variety and selection of fish products during our trip.
Having hot-smoked meats, foul, ribs and fish in my Weber Smokey Mountain (WSM), I was up to the task to expand my cooking and cold smoke was the next challenge.
I knew my WSM would generate too much heat for a cold-smoked lox so I started my research for a cold smoke generator.
And friends, this one is it!
For my lox experiment, I bought a sack of maple wood pellets and loaded them into this smoke generator. Filling the tube around half full and then leveling it to evenly disperse the pellets into the tube.
To light the pellets, I placed the open end of this smoke generator on my grill's side burner and left it there for a few minutes until i had a nice smoke stream emanating from the holes in the tube.
I then moved the smoke generator to my cold Weber grill grates (see pics) and placed my brined salmon (atop a cooking rack for maximum air/smoke circulation) onto the grill grates and covered the grill hood.
Basically, the desired method for cold smoking is to capture and encapsulate your foods that you seek to cold smoke in as small a space as possible to allow the cold smoke to wash over and bathe your food in smoke. Doing this is what imparts the smoke flavor, all without adding heat and cooking the food you're smoking.
I kept the smoke generator tube around 10 inches away from the salmon and let the smoke waft all around it for 90 minutes.
OH MY GOD! The flavor on this salmon was incredible and the amount of smoke generated was PERFECT!
If you're seeking a quality, well made cold smoke generator, this unit is IT! Look no further.
Now if you're going to use Traeger or other pellet types to create smoke from, you'll need to get those pellets smoking. A gentle match will not work. You must burn/ignite them for a few minutes until they start to smolder.
You can use a torch burner or a grill's side burner but budget at least a few minutes to get those pellets smoking.
Once lit, your pellets will gently burn through the tube, consuming/igniting the remaining pellets inside the tube.
And that folks it your lesson in how to get this tube to be the perfect cold smoke generator.
I hope your success is as good or better than mine. I am 100% satisfied with this tool and look forward to many more smoke sessions with many different foods.
And remember to click "helpful" if you find my review of value. These votes of support encourage me to continue writing quality review we can all rely on, versus reviews placed by shills or fake reviewers.

Roger in PA : Love my smoke tube
I have a Weber gas grill and sometimes want to add some smoke to my meat. I've tried the stainless boxes you add chips to but could never seem to get them to work all that great. I saw the tube smoker and decided to give it a go. I am so glad I did. If you have a small propane torch it's easy to get the pellets lit. Once lit wait 30 seconds and blow it out. Let them smolder away and smoke up your grill. Works great and super easy. I might get a second just to add more smoke for when I'm doing brisket.

Brian Bridges : Works great
My current smoker is incapable of creating smoke at low temperatures so I needed an alternative. I purchased this smoker tube in hopes it would solve my problems. I filled it with wood pellets and lit it per instructions and placed in in my smoker. To give the ultimate test I left the smoker stone cold with no heat applied at all. I was testing for it’s cold smoking abilities. Worked great it produced ample smoke and burned approximately 5 hours. All of the pellets had been reduced to ash. A complete and efficient burn. I need the colder smoking for sausages cheese, fish, etc and this device fills that requirement admirably. Best 15 bucks I’ve spent in a long time. If colder smoke conditions are needed, I highly recommend this smoker tube. Reference: I’m using a Cuisinart electric smoker as the test appliance.
Good product.
choc : Great way to smoke cheese and meats
I've used on the grill and in smoker box (cuts down on opening to add chips).
A bit hard to get pellets going - a torch is the way to go as I used dessert torch and the pellets went out a few times. Finally I stuck in bottom of smoker on the burner - it worked and had wonderful smoke for hours.
I can't wait to try smoke cheeses.
Jay : You need this
I have a trager 620 from Costco it doesn't have super smoke mode... however through Facebook group I was recommended this for more of a smokey flavor and boy it works I have one here and my dad has one as well, clean burn its definitely a must have if you love that smokey taste in your foods
Amazon Customer : Pellet Tube Performance
I was honestly apprehensive about buying this product thinking it would not produce good results. I, in good faith, bought two of them and tried it for the first time a few weeks ago. Very easy to load with chips and pellets, started it with a BernzOmatic torch and off to the races. Burned at an acceptable rate and produces ample smoke. Overall a very good supplement if additional smoke is needed. A quick tap and swab with a bottle brush and it was super clean. I hear people use these for cold smoking and based on my experience so far, I think it would work well in that application. The next test will be when I smoke more of my salmon and hopefully this will be a great aid in my quest to always produce amazing smoked salmon. Good Luck!
Burns pellets, small chips, even dust (from the bottom of the bin) I love it!
bnick2k11 : Great effective smoke addition...
Very much like this product... It lights fast with blowtorch and the metal holds up well to the heat with no problem after many uses... We use it in our Green Mountain pellet stove which puts out a light amount of smoke and we wanted more without too much if that makes any sense... This adds a wonderful component of additional smoke... We put tinfoil in it half way and then fill with pellets and it gives us the 2 hour smoke burn we like without wasting pellets... Well worth the small price, great quality too...
