Answer: No it doesn't. Just low to high knob.

Answer: I wouldn't recommend frozen fruits because it has excess water in it. It already takes about 8 hours just to dry a fresh fruit. If you do a fruit that is frozen not only will it probably take twice as long but it may not come out the way it should.

Is the timer extremely loud? Another review of a different brand complained about this. I don't want a loud timer.

Answer: No. The timer is not loud at all. Any button that you press has a low beep. You barely notice that the dehydrator is even on. It cooks like a whisper.

Answer: I don't know how you can get a manual but the instructions are fairly easy. Press the button for the time you want to dehydrate something. The manual didn't help me at all. You have to do trial and error of how long to dehydrate something depending on what it is and what the thickness is.

Answer: Sprouts are fragile having a small amount of internal water, so, when drying use care with heat and time levels to ensure not destroying them. Nut? Not a big fan of those vs. Dry roasting in a non-stick pan over low heat or in oven dry roasting same at low heat. Nuts have practically no water in them, thus not sure why dehydrate??

Am I the only one that received plastic trays? Who is the seller to possibly get the metal trays for this dehydrator?

Answer: The only plastic trays I got were for dehydrating berries, which had small holes and was almost mesh like but rigid, and a solid plastic tray for making fruit leather. Both sat on top of the wire trays.

Is the plug 2 prongs or 3 plongs?

Answer: It is a two-prong plug. However, you can purchase a small 3-prong adapter at any hardware store for about $1. It allows you to plug in 2 and 3 prong items. I like the simplicity of this dehydrator. It's easy to use. I have not used it often because I bought it specifically to make dried meat for my dogs and it just takes forever to do that, even though you can do it over night, I just keep forgetting to use it lol. But if you know you're going to use it on a regular basis, I highly recommend it.

Answer: Yes all interior is plastic. However, this is plastic which is temperature correct material to the level of heat the unit is designed for. Dehydrators are lower heat level fan driven devices. I am 100% satisfied with this product, use it often and would recommend it to anyone who wants precision drying of meats [I use it for both meat and fruit] and other items. The company who makes this is TOP NOTCH!

Answer: My guess is unlike any US powered product, providing you use a certified power converter for that country you are visiting, sure. The actual product using a fan to dry your desired choices so it does not draw a large amount or current and power. It's the best unit to date I've used, quiet, easy to clean and use, a winner all around. Maxi-Matic has a great support site so if you drop them a question about this via their email, they do respond in a timely manner. Myself, if you use an excellent power adapter it should work fine. Answer: Bananas, mangos, apples, pineapple, tend to take about 18-34 hours.

Answer: Cranberries yes, but peas will fall through the mesh. I purchased a box of Homey (10 pack)14×14 non stick Teflon dehydrator sheets for this exact problem and they are reusable.

Answer: No not yet, but I don't suggest washing any plastic in the dishwasher it will keep them lasting longer.

Nothing really to dislike, used a lot and has held up very well, heavy duty metal racks, easy to clean and it's working around the clock dehydrating food for my kayaking camping trips.

N'boots : Why didn't I get one sooner?

I am in love with this thing. It's pretty much been running since I bought it. It's easy to operate and has multiple temperature settings (135-160 F). Timer can be adjusted in 30 minute intervals and can even be adjusted while the unit is running to add more time. Shelves are metal. A quick run through a dish washer is all that is needed when you are done drying sticky items like sliced berries. My only wish was that it came with more of the fine mesh that sits on top of the metal rack (for small items) and at least 1 other fruit leather tray.

So far we dried:
fruits: bananas, apples, strawberries, raspberries, oranges
fruit leathers: apple, apple mango, apples apricot, apple strawberry
veggies: sweet bell peppers, carrots, onions, celery

The instructions that come with the dehumidifier claim that you can dry apples in 8 hours, it took 3 days!! Also, there is no timer on it so you have to keep track on how long things are in there. There is also not an option to return this POS so now I am stuck with it. Don't bother to buy this, go with a better option and save your time and money.

The Elite Gourmet Food Dehydrator works great! It does not take up a lot of surface area in the counter and it makes quick work of dehydration.

I really liked how the trays “nest” together for secure stacking. I like the dial for temperature, the fan for circulating air through the product. The unit is easy to clean and store!

I noticed the temperature control has ranges of temperature, but no specific setting. The light indicating the unit is easily for confused for temperature indicator. The trays can almost be stacked either way but they align with tabs abs putting a tray in upside down isn’t possible.

Overall the unit is a great balance of price, size, and operation. I highly recommend

So my fault in assuming that this unit had a light due to not only the size but also it has a clear window in the door which serves no purpose if there is no light. Also the fact that the door can be opened and the oven does not turn off is not a good thing. That being said the unit works well and has plenty of space on the racks to dehydrate plenty of jerky. If it just had a light and a safety shut off then it would be perfect.

We make beef Jerky on a weekly basis. Slight addiction for us. It does the job however after the 3rd use, the trays have started to crack in various places. I have made beef and chicken breast jerky 5 times now . It was worked well. I have slightly adjusted time and temperature as I have learned how it functions. Just don't over dry your jerky to start with a you can simply dry it more to your desire. I am sure it will dehydrate to preserve fruits and vegetables. For a family size unit it is a good investment in my opinion.

I had a hard time selected a dehydrator. I have used the Excalibur that I borrowed from a friend and loved it but it was not in my budget at this time. The friend I borrowed it from told me "Buy once, cry once" but I still could not afford it at this time. So I tried to find one that felt good at a lower price point. It was important to me that I find one with stainless steel shelves and a window. This one had no reviews at the time I purchased it so it was a gamble. Buyer beware. If you buy this hot pile of garbage make sure you take it out and test it within the return window. I did not do that and bought this months in advance of needing. I kept it unopened in the box for 3 months before opening up up for use. First thing I noticed is that one of the plastic tabs that you use for extending the racks was broken. I took it out of the package cleaned it up and follow the instructions for the 30 minute pre-heat to burn off the impurities as per the instructions to the T. It started off with the standard smelly heating filament small as expected but after 15 minutes I started smelling “magic smoke” as I like to call it. Luckily there was no fire but an electrical component inside definitely failed. Either a fuse or transformer. It will not turn on at all. I bought two of these and now I will open the second one but expect it to do the same. Utter garbage. Something like this shouldn’t fail so easily. There is literally 3 parts to this system. Control knob, fan, and heating element. Good job China.

I planned to use this to dry my filament for 3d printing. I loaded up my spool, set the dial to 113F and after about 30 minutes, the grill thermometer I setup to monitor the temperature was at 88 and holding steady. I couldn't get this thing to hit the required 113-115F until I turned the dial almost all the way up. I can't imagine even attempting to use this for food. It's on it's way back to Amazon.

I love my dehydrator and use it every day, but the trays are flimsy and started falling apart the second week of use. Apparently, it's a common issue with clear plastic trays, so if you're planning on using yours a lot, invest in a more expensive dehydrator with metal trays. Also, the instructions are completely unreliable when they talk about thickness of slices, temperature required, and time period of the dehydrating process. Best to experiment on your own.

I’ve been using this dehydrator a couple times a week for the last few months since I bought it. Works like a charm, though I do sometimes have to run it for longer/hotter than the booklet it came with indicates for certain things. This may just be personal preference, though, as the few things I dehydrate regularly need to be crunchy vs. leathery. It’s already paid for itself—dehydrated sweet potatoes are one of my dog’s favorite treats but so expensive to buy in the store!

Wanted to like this product but first time using I found the door leaking air. I tried moving it around and found I got shift the door on either side and have either air leak from one side of the door or both. The door itself is pretty flimsy. So I see why it has issues. It is a easy to use product and would have probably liked it if it worked properly but for the inconvenience of almost ruining my meat I'm not willing to risk it again. I did email customer support but haven't heard back yet so I can't comment on how efficient they are at this point in time.

This is my first dehydrating machine. I always have made beef jerky in the oven but decided I would get this to try instead of heating my whole house all day. This machine is easy to use and set. The 6 trays fit a lot of meat, around 4 lbs easily. The only downside is that it never got to the set 160 degrees. The highest it would go according to the thermometer I placed inside was 140-145 degrees... so I made sure to put it in the oven at 275 degrees for 10 minutes to make sure it was completely pasteurized after dehydrating.

This dehydrator works very well. I'm drying figs, peaches and one tray of apples as I type. I've been taste testing every couple hours. Jerky is next on list. I love the adjustable temperature! It's small out of the box but when you start using it, it holds a lot. The fan is a little nosier then I'd like. But the trays are easy to wash, and a quick wipe on base is all it needs.

Unless you want to heat up your kitchen during the day when you are paying for AC also, use this overnight when it's cooler. The appliance doesn't Heat things up too much but it definitely produces noticeable heat. Overall, the default settings are pretty good unless you are trying to make crisps or are using very wet ingredients.

I have used it several times to dehydrate figs, mangos, and apples, and it works great. The '-' and '+' buttons are not easy to use.

We purchased this for our daughter who has two large dogs. So far we have used it for doggie treats which saves a ton of money for her. The dogs love the treats. Chicken liver is hard and messy to do, so I quick doing those treats. Beef, chicken jerky is great. Purchase meat when it is marked down.

I’ve been making beef jerky for years, these brand new dehydrators took more that 18 hours to safely dehydrate. I’m switching back to my old ones for now but I will be spending more money on a better brand next time, this thing is SLOW. I’ve even tried to give it the benefit of the doubt and make fruit snacks and potato chips, (made both in the past) and still a terrible result. Also I’m on the second was and the trays are completely falling apart.. do yourself a favor and spend some money on a good brand.

wife here: This machine is wonderful. Stainless steel trays, simple operating instructions, and peacefully quiet. It even looks nice. Highly recommended. I already made turnip chips. make sure you marinate your raw chips in salt water, then microwave them for 3 minutes before dehydrating. Much quicker results.
