Answer: Just completed testing mine using an infra-red thermometer.
Answer: Hi, you may download the users manual of our device by simply visiting our website pyleaudio.com. On the search box there type the model number of your unit PKFD06 then click search. The picture of your unit will appear click it then go to Manuals and Downloads so you can get a PDF copy of your users manual. Thank you.
Q:
Is there a hole in the middle of the rectangle?
Answer: Yes. In all of the trays.
Answer: Yes
Q:
my unit did not come with the fruit leather sheets. How can I get these or order them?
Answer: Fruit leather sheets are not part of the package. They must be ordered separately.
Answer: You can try the link below to see if it fits your need.
Answer: You have to order them separately, but amazon has a lot of choices for those.
Q:
where can i buy replacement trays, the plastic broke very easily?
Answer: Call them
Answer: (888) 318-7953
Q:
how longer to make the jerkey?
Answer: Jerky was the first thing I made. I finished prep around 11pm and by 8am I had perfect jerky. So 9 hours tops. That was using every shelf with just a little room between slices.
Answer: Depending upon the thickness of your pieces and preferences on tenderness, anywhere from 8-12 hrs.
Q:
Where can I purchase additional/replacement trays for this dehydrator?
Answer: amazon. I tried contacting the manufacturer but got nowhere with them.
Q:
Some other dehydrators reportedly used lots ofvpower. Anyone notice much difference in their electric bills using this?
Answer: It doesn't use enough energy to make an impact on the bill. At least nothing noticeable.
Answer: not at all!
Q:
Recipes I'm looking at give temps to use for dehydration of different types of food...how do you know what to do without a temp. setting?
Answer: I just turn it on and let it go. I have only used it for jerky. The first time I used it I put a cooking thermometer inside and the highest it got was 170 so that's enough for anything I would make. I have eaten tons of this jerky and never got sick so it was obviously "cooked". It is a great little dehydrator!
Q:
Will this dehydrator hold 170 degrees for 10 hours straight? Or does the temperature automatically drop at some point?
Answer: Hi, the unit Reaches Maximum Temperature of 180 °F. Yes, it will stay on the temperature you set to the unit. You may check other details of the unit by visiting our website pyleaudio.com. Type the model number on the search box PKFD06 for more details. Thank you.
Answer: yes, it will go as long as I need it to, 24 hours is about my limit, but no problem with that.
Q:
How many watts?
Answer: 250W (interestingly couldn't find that in the manual sent with the machine, rather right on the bottom of the machine)
Q:
What is the wattage?
Answer: 250 Watts and 120V
Q:
Can you add additional trays or will it only occomodate the 5 trays?
Answer: I ordered another tray from amazon, so now have 6 trays. You can stack them as high as you want, I am considering buying another tray because I like to make a lot at once.
Q:
Will it affect the operation of the dehydrator to run it with less than 5 trays? Say, just one tray plus the lid? Will it overheat?
Answer: This unit consists of a heater/fan and trays. The number of trays installed does not affect the operation, except for air movement. We normally start with all trays full and installed and as product dries, usually on the bottom tray first, we just remove that tray.
Answer: No I don’t think it will. You may wanna tune the temp a little. There is a good bit of ventilation slots cut in the top for it to breath through.
Answer: The answer is no to both questions
Q:
eggs Can it dehydrate eggs?
Answer: OurHalfAcreHomestead has a video on you tube, she says you need a dehydrator with a temperature control, but she also says you have to dehydrate (on fruit rollup trays) over 130 degrees, this one gets up to 170. I'll bet amazon sells fruit rollup trays! Good luck!
Answer: I don't know. Never tried but I would check Google or pintrest.

How do prepared vegetables taste after dehydration and preparing for a meal?
Answer: Sorry I can't help you with this one. I purchased it to dry apple, lemon and orange slices to decorate Christmas wreaths. If it helps, I ate a couple of dried apple slices and they tasted great.
Answer: There is a little lost flavor. But to reconstitute the veggies I soak them in a coating of olive oil for about a hour then in a tub of chicken or beef broth and water (50/50) for an hour. Then I put them in a stew. If you are eating raw leave out the olive oil. Your first batch is trial & error. Then thigs get better - Good Luck

Product reviews of NutriChef Food Dehydrator Machine - Professional Electric Multi-Tier Food Preserver, Meat or Beef Jerky Maker, Fruit & Vegetable Dryer with 5 Stackable Trays, High-Heat Circulation - PKFD06
rachel so : DO NOT BUY!
DO NOT BUY! It’s useless! At first I thought it was just super quite cause the reviews all said that. After more than 15 hours, my chicken didn’t get dehydrated. Instead it went spoiled. So I tried to dehydrate kale for 4 hours and it’s the same thing. The heat and the motor doesn’t work at all! I’ve tried to plug it in different sockets of the house. So it’s definitely a broken one. It doesn’t work. What a waste of money and time!
Amazon Customer : Easy to use!
This is a good dehydrator. It is really easy to use and easy to clean. We have used it a lot. As you can see from the photo, we are using it now to make jerky. Quite happy with our purchase.
Greg spray : Great item at a great price!
I love this dehydrator! It's quiet, easy to use & easy to clean. I have dried so many different things in it & it is a work horse!
Michael Nichols : How firm its backside is. Tougher then fresh raw hide
Very solid and not made cheaply. Packaged properly with real high end cardboard. Nutrichef, you never seize to amaze me with the temperature control, easy cleaning, and noise level always being a main focus. Life couldnt be easier when it comes to drying my mushrooms. Huuuuddieee Hooooo!
JLMA527 : Great for its price
I went through the reviews of many lower priced food dehydrators and I’m so glad i went with this one. I’ve used it 4 times for four different batches of beef jerky and it worked perfectly. It is also fairly quiet which is nice. The trays feel sturdy and overall is of good quality.
walter morgan : Bottom tray hotest. Remember to rotate trays.
Needs a purchased set of screens to keep food on trays. Works great
Dalebert Vincent : It works fine but I wish I’d gotten one with a timed shut-off
The instructions actually suggest that you use an outlet timer to shut off power so you don’t over dehydrate items. Depending on the timing of what you’re dehydrating, you need to make plans around it to shut it off. Not sure if one with a timer would cost more than buying the timer separately as I may end up doing.
A couple of plastic tabs were broken on one of my trays. These tabs are what I decided living with it was better than the hassle of returning it or replacing the tray. I just always use the broken tray as the bottom and it ends up not mattering.
monicab : Reliable, quiet and a great looking appliance!
I've been researching dehydrators in order to make my own beef jerky at home vs. paying the ridiculous high costs at the grocery stores. I am SUPER impressed so far! I have made two batches of jerky thus far both with great success and in under 8 hours !! I do like the temperature control so much and I am very surprised at how much I can fit into this dehydrator considering the compactness of it. Very, very, very satisfied !!! Also it's super quiet and it looks very nice and modern sitting on my countertop. Thank you !!! PS I do also hand wash the trays and reassemble and turn the dehydrator on and in minutes it is dry and ready to be put away.
A. Blessinger : Works great!
I have used this dehydrator to dehydrate 5 flats of tomatoes, chili peppers, jerky and now garlic. It works great! I have an Excalibur dehydrator that doesn't even come close to how well this one performs. The Excalibur is now gone.
Loretta in Indiana : I LOVE IT! Its QUIET!
This is the best dehydrator! Its smaller than the big (but silent) Ronco I had. I bought another dehydrator earlier this year and ended up returning it because it was SO LOUD. This one has a very quiet hum. You can adjust the depth of the trays by the way you stack them so that make storage nice too!!
Amazon Customer : Easy to use!
This is a good dehydrator. It is really easy to use and easy to clean. We have used it a lot. As you can see from the photo, we are using it now to make jerky. Quite happy with our purchase.
Sherry Mason : How disappointing I was with this product.
This dehydrator really didn’t live up to its promises of producing great dehydrated food. I ended up having to throw out all the fruit I dehydrated. The fruit didn’t properly dehydrate, so it ended up spoiling. It didn’t produce good results and I would not recommend it to anyone. Very dissatisfied.
DCFL61 : Made beef jerky and it turned out great.
Only used it once so far (only had it a week). Made beef jerky and it turned out great.
G. Williams : Quiet and east to use
I love it! Quiet and easy to use. My son ate the fruit leather and fruit chips faster than I make them. Now I am making jerky. Can't wait!
Amazon Customer : Easy to use!
This is a good dehydrator. It is really easy to use and easy to clean. We have used it a lot. As you can see from the photo, we are using it now to make jerky. Quite happy with our purchase.
Shell YEAH! : Still on the fence
I got this dehydrator because I was tired of throwing away fruit that got too ripe for me to enjoy. I love making jelly and jam and preserves with the fruit but in the summer it is too hot to think about canning. I wanted a dehydrator that was quiet, didn't produce a lot of noise, worked well and had an off/on button and a temp control button. I was initially looking for one with a timer but totally forgot about that option when I purchased the NutriChef dehydrator. Pros: 5 trays that are adjustable according to the thickness of your food- and you can buy extra trays to add to the already 5 trays you get. Ultra Quiet (I can barely hear it)...Puts out low low heat ....it wont change the temperature in your kitchen to run it all day Cons: No timer....you need to set your own timer to check your progress. It is so quiet you really forget you are running the dehydrator. It takes at least twice as long to dehydrate your food than the other dehydrators out there takes...Well I based the time on my research before starting my process. Tips: Slice your food really thin. The thinner the food...the faster it will dehydrate. But watch it closely....if you want your food still a little moist then cut it a tiny bit thicker. *The juicier the fruit, the longer it takes to dry it out (obviously). Pears...takes more than 12 hours on high heat...yes....12+ hours. I sliced my pears about 1/5th of an inch thick. I leave skins on everything because I love the skins of fruit. The bottom tray by the fan is going to dry the fastest and it will take a little longer for each tray that you use up until the top. Use the juicier/ wetter fruit on the lowest tray. *Use parchment paper for an easier clean up and so your different foods don't drip on each other . *With that in mind...don't overcrowd your food...you can layer the foods on the tray so they touch each other but don't overlap them and make sure there is room for the air/heat to circulate throughout. Check your food from time to time....some of the pieces will dry faster than the other. Take out the pieces that are already dry and rearrange the remaining pieces if you need to. The food arranged on the outside edges of the trays tend to dry faster. You can always rearrange your trays if you see some are not getting enough heat/air. Take out any trays that are you are done using. This will let the heat and air work better on the food that is left in the dehydrator. So far I have dried Pears Apples and Strawberries. Pears take forever because they are super moist. Apples take little time to dry. I put a little cinnamon on some of my apple slices and they came out delish. Strawberries didn't take much time at all. I have some chicken breast marinating in my fridge now to make some chicken jerky. I will report back once that is done. I do like my dehydrator and will most likely experiment with other foods.
M.K : Good product. Good price, easy to use.
I've been using it to herbs and vegetables from the garden. Very intuitive not hard to just plug in and find the setting for the things your dehydrating and its extremely quiet. Lots of space on the stacking trays aswell. At a very affordable price. Just what I was looking for.
Wzitek : Fun and easy to use!
Bought the product for my wife and she loves it!! The item was a little smaller than I expeted but we still fit alot of food in it. From day one my wife has used it nonstop. I have to say the best thing that has come out of it so far for me is the fruit leather she makes. We haven't been able to get banana chips very crispy but we don't give up that easy. All and all a great product.
Diana M Mercier : Perfect for me!!
Been using this dehydrator for a while now for vegetables and beef jerky. Just love it. The square shape fits a LOT and stores easily. I hear it some, but not bothersome. I found it a good value for the money.
Serena Ashley : Great product
I mostly bought this to dehydrate fruits. It has worked well. My only complaint is that I wish it had a timer. Fruit can take anywhere between 8-10 hours to dehydrate. It is very quiet. It doesn’t fit in my dishwasher so I have to wash by hand and often times I need to use a scrub brush to get everything.
J. Shal : Worked great right out of the box
Bought this mainly to make homemade venison jerky. The dehydrator was very easy to clean and set up, and worked efficiently and quietly in the background. I also like the small footprint so it doesn't take up a ton of counter space. Can't wait to see what else I can dry out in this thing.
DCFL61 : Made beef jerky and it turned out great.
Only used it once so far (only had it a week). Made beef jerky and it turned out great.
Grannie : broken lid
I just received the dehydrator and went to wash the lid and found that it was cracked. I should return it but I just smoked my peppers and need to dehydrated them and can't wait until I get a different one. I just hope that it works good enough until I can get a replacement lid.
Customer : Great Overall Buy
Bought this based on the positive reviews I read. So far, I have to agree. Made a few batches of snacks, very quiet, doesn't give off much heat, fairly quick at doing a good job. This is our first introduction to using a dehydrator, and would seriously recommend it.
Mary : Great!
Love it so far. Easy to set up, great price as well. Started using as soon as I got it unpacked, can't wait for my first batch of dried fruits to be ready!
H. van boldrik : value for price
have surplus fruits and vegies every year, been freezing but wanted to try drying again. great for munchies
Brennan M. : Works well but is much smaller than it appears.
The dehydrator works well but is much smaller than it appears in the pictures. The recipe book is heavily slanted towards vegetables and barely addresses the dehydration of meats. It does perform well and I've made some good beef jerky with it. About 2.5 lbs of sliced jerky is about all your going to fit into it.
Casey Kesterson : Real Fruit Candy.
I love this thing. My beef jerky came out amazing! My dog absolutely loves the dried beef sticks and fruit. I love the fact that none of the produce I buy goes to waste. Bananas are my favorite fruit so far. All of the fruits end up tasting like candy. You can turn the trays to fit thicker items or turn it again for thinner items. I've done watermelon, mango, tomatoes, apples, blueberries, pineapple, kiwi, and strawberries. Would highly recommend.
Nikki Wells : easy and simple
This item is a little smaller than I expected but it works perfectly. There is a size description on the page so just check the size so you know what your buying. Works without issue, easy and simple....Love it. I've done Apple chips, blueberries, and red chili peppers so far. Everything came out perfectly even when doing them all together. Love this product.....!!!!
Nancyk : this works great!
I love this dehydrator, I have been making nothing but jerky in it. I was kind of unhappy with the lack of specific instructions for jerky, but after making it, I can understand why directions are nonspecific. There are so many variables that it would be impossible to cover all of them in any instructions. The machine itself works great, it gets the food up to 160 so it is being "cooked" properly. It makes very little noise, and is very easy to clean. I did not have a lot of dripping that the manual warned of. Very easy to use!
Janelle Jackman : Dehydration machine
Excellent machine We us it all the time
Christian Bocka : It is pretty much silent, but it also doesn’t work too well.
I bought this specifically because it was a quiet machine, but it comes with a trade off. I have a larger food dehydrator that I use primarily for venison but it is so loud we need to keep it in the basement while it is running (the loud part being the fan).
The trade off is it doesn’t work as well as the bigger ones do. Yes it dehydrates food, but if you want your food to be crunchy like a cracker or potato chips, this one isn’t for you.
The first thing we tried making was banana chips but after 18 HOURS of dehydrating on the max setting the bananas were still chewy/gummy. This was the case for every other food we tried as well.
I took another star off because the trays aren’t machine washable. It seems picky, but really? Every other brand is machine washable so why isn’t this one.
Additionally the trays are very fragile. Made of brittle plastic, polystyrene I believe. I had it for a week and two of the trays have small cracks.
Susan Nguyen : Description is not enough for customers. Noimportant information such as : power and time
I plan to use this product to dry food especially fruits. I have many fruits trees and a lot of fruits from them every year. However when I received this product and read the information in the booklet manual, I know I cannot use it. It is too weak, not enough force and need much time to dry that not to be mentionned/disclosed in the description in advance to avoid the return the product. I am unhappy if I have to pay fee for the return it at this covid19 time to go to the free return location.
Steven H : Easy to Use
Well, I bought this product to make beef jerky and dried fruits. While I was looking for jerky recipes, I decided to make banana and strawberry chips and dried blueberries. Have used it 4 times and have yet to make beef jerky. But the banana chips, strawberry chips and blueberriess that I've dried have been great. Things I like: Easy to use and clean up. Doesn't get to hot and following the included instructions results in some tasty treats. Trays can be stacked short or tall depending on what you're dehydrating, and so far, I've had no problems. Instructions are easy to read and follow. Will eventually get around to making jerky. In the meantime, I'll continue with dried fruit chips and fruit leathers (rollups). Will purchase one for my daughter and son and daughter in law. They have children that like dried fruit and what you make with this doesn't have any additives. Would recommended.
Susan Coast : decent for the price
The dehydrator is a bit smaller than IU thought, and I thought it had a clear square trays for the food, but it turns out that you have to leave the center empty. I bought it for drying onions, as I didn't want to use my bigger, primary dehydrator for those. It worked pretty well, the first batch too about 20 hrs (!) but the second batch went much faster, because I put less in. I would say that for a kitchen, the quiet operation is a plus, and the good looking appearance is too. Overall pretty satisfied, but glad it's not my only option at home. If you don't do a whole lot of dehydrating, it would be a great tool.

Everything is awesome! Low cost, well reviewed, worth every penny!
So far, I have made banana chips, apple chips, and jerky and all have been winners!
Glad to have made the purchase. Would buy again.

Mary : Great!
Love it so far. Easy to set up, great price as well. Started using as soon as I got it unpacked, can't wait for my first batch of dried fruits to be ready!
Pam Hanna : Great Dehydrator
I like this unit a lot. I live in Idaho and lots of wonderful produce is available here. Thus far I've dried two different kinds of apples, pears and bananas. It's easy to clean and easy to use.

Sharon Serrano Ahmed : Didn't work
So I tried to make sweet potato chips and kale chips. Even after 24 hours, they were still moist and then just became rubbery! A complete waste of money.
W L Tang : Product should be checked and in working condition before delivering to customer!
Machine was defective! Tried using the first time following the instruction and fruits turned mouldy. Tried the second time and have the same outcome. Got my technician to check and was informed the machine is not working well!!

Amazon Customer : Easy to use!
This is a good dehydrator. It is really easy to use and easy to clean. We have used it a lot. As you can see from the photo, we are using it now to make jerky. Quite happy with our purchase.
Kindle Customer : Very disappointing!
Product was very quiet and easy to clean. Unfortunately, it did not dehydrate. I had basil and dill in the unit for over 24 hours and they still were not dried. As recommended, I started at the lowest heat level but after 5 hours I started increasing the temp. Finally moved the herbs to the oven at lowest temp and they were dried in 15 minutes.
Carolina Girl : No timer on this item.
I bought this dehydrator to do just fruits and vegetables because I have a secondary one that I use for my meat. However I didn’t realize it until I got it here and we started using it that there’s no timer on it. My current dehydrator has a setting from anywhere from 1 to 20 hours that you set and then basically forget about it until it’s done because it shuts itself off wheN it’s done. You can’t do that with this one because it will just run and run until you shut it off so this one will not be used as much because it will need to have a separate timer on it either in the house or on my phone to remind me to shut it off.

A. Blessinger : Works great!
I have used this dehydrator to dehydrate 5 flats of tomatoes, chili peppers, jerky and now garlic. It works great! I have an Excalibur dehydrator that doesn't even come close to how well this one performs. The Excalibur is now gone.
