Questions about Cilio 18/10 Stainless Steel Wine Sealer
Q:
how does this work, i just bought one and I can figure it out
Answer: Holding the side of the device (don't push down on the top button - that is the RELEASE), simply push it down onto the bottle. You should hear a "click". To open, push the button on top.
Answer: Prior answer is right on the bubbles.
Q:
Cilio wine sealer does not fit all wine bottles. Am I missing something?
Answer: No your not missing anything. Love the product but found that out myself after opening a bottle. Though it does fit certain types of bottles, just not all. I have had to reuse only one cork so far.
Answer: Wine bottles have different shaped tops and the Cilio does not work with some of them. So far I have found that it does not work with about half the bottles of wine I have tried it on. It leaks.
Answer: It doesn't fit over every wine bottle due to the size of the bottles opening. It does fit most
Answer: Unfortunately, I have the same issue. The wine sealer does not fit with all bottles. Sorry, I was not any help.
Answer: We have used the wine bottle sealer without any trouble. I don't know why you would be having trouble unless the outside diameter of the bottle type is too wide.
Answer: It didn't fit the first bottle I tried :-(((
Answer: i have used it quite a few times. it snaps when it is on right. i like it.
Q:
Received my champagne sealer. Don't have an open bottle of champagne so tried on bottle of wine but it doesn't "click". Should it work on wine?
Answer: I have tried it only on Champagne and it worked great, but it will depend upon the shape of the bottle opening as to how well it will work. Since it is made to hold pressure in, even if it fits a wine bottle it will accomplish nothing, you need a vacuum on the wine.
Answer: When you pull it over any wine bottle, it holds onto the top to indicate it's sealed. I've never gotten a "click" either, but it seems to work.
Answer: It doesn't make a clicking noise just make sure to push down then twist clockwise. You'll know when you pop it off if it worked
Answer: It's for champagne bottles.
Answer: Mine only works with champagne
Q:
Will this work on screw top wine/champagne bottles?
Answer: It will certainly work on screw top wine. I was not able to use it on champagne unfortunately, which was the reason I bought it. It can probably work on champagne bottles with thinner openings, but it did not fit on the bottles I had. Didn’t fit on prosecco either.
Answer: This will work on most wine bottles, especially those with standard neck bottles. So I would think it would work on screw tops.
Answer: Thank you. This will work on a standard neck screw top.
Q:
Is this item dishwasher safe? What is the best way to clean it?
Answer: Its stainless, so should be OK but just rinse it off is what I do.
Answer: I only wash by hand.
Answer: I hand wash and air dry this.
Q:
Can this product be engraved? If so, how long will it take to receive engraved product?
Q:
For how long can you use this Cilio Wine Sealer? Is this for wine only?
Answer: This specific one is for wine. I have the one for Champagne - opened a bottle 4 days ago, used the Champagne Sealer, poured a glass a night and it's still perfectly bubbly tonight. 5th night. Obviously small glasses. :)
Answer: In general you don't want wine to sit - red past 2 days, white past 4. Top top works ok. It's not a vacuum seal or anything, but its easier than reinserting a cork. I've only used it for wine bottles...fitted for that size bottle neck/opening.
Answer: This has a smaller opening and will not fit champagne bottles.
Q:
The box has a sticker of this german product that states, "made in china". is this a counterfeit item?
Answer: Cilio is a German brand but this product is produced for them in China. It is not made in Germany, you do not have a counterfeit.
Answer: I no longer have my box, so I don't know what it said. The item works as described.
Answer: Unknown
Q:
How do I remove it if it’s stuck on the bottle?
Answer: I’ve never had this problem but I would use brute force. I know some bottles have larger lips on the opening.
Answer: Grip the cap put some downward pressure on it and at the same time with the other hand push the button.
Answer: No idea I got lucky my bro and law got it off hammer it off !!! Lol it’s junk I wish. I didn’t buy it sorry
Answer: Push down on the top. If that does not work, try running hot water on the metal.
Answer: It’s a terrible design. Keep pressing down and try to turn. Return it
Answer: Press down the center button and pull up on the outer part.
Q:
how does this work !
Answer: The sealer is pretty simple to use. Press it on and the top of the bottle is tightly covered by silicone base of cap. It works somewhat though not perfect due to the pressure that escapes from the wine. I found it to be as good as expected and it looks nice.
Answer: just press it down onto the bottle opening. it 'clings' to the rim snugly. works good!
Answer: Like a charm. Unbelievable how well it work.
Answer: On the inside of this champagne sealer are little teeth surrounding the wall of the inside and on the top of the inside is a rubber gasket. when you put this champagne sealer on top of an opened bottle of champagne and push down, the teeth grab the lip of the bottle and press it against the rubber gasket preventing leaks or loss of the carbonation. Do not press the top button when trying to seal the bottle. grip the sides of it instead and push down Simply press the button on the top of the sealer to release the teeth from the lip of the bottle. this opens the bottle back up.
Answer: Very well, indeed . . . just make sure you get the right size. When we ordered our third one for a vacation home, they sent a smaller size. Of course, everything was handled quickly, but I still had to go to a UPS store to return the too-small one.
Answer: These are the instructions for use: ull down over the bottle opening to seal; to release, push the button and lift off
Answer: Unlike wine bottle sealers, this clamps on the outside of the bottle neck when the outside sleeve of the sealer is pushed down. Thus it holds in the pressure.
Answer: I think it creates a vacuum. It does it's job, but only on champagne bottles, not normal wine bottles, unfortunately.
Answer: Push down over the top of the bottle to seal. Push the button on top to release. Great product!
Answer: It fits over the top of the bottle and prevents the champagne from going flat
Q:
Will this work on sparkling juice bottles?
Answer: If you get one that actually fits champagne bottles, I would think so - but I ordered 3 for xmas gifts and all of them were the wine variety. Although the seal wine bottles superbly, they weren't what I ordered. So... hopefully you have better luck getting the correct model.
Answer: If they have a large lip like a champagne bottle.
Answer: It works great on champagne so I don't see why it wouldn't.
Answer: If the bottle is just like a Champagne bottle (corked the same), I'd say yes.
Q:
is this a set of 2, or just one?
Answer: I cannot remember think 2. I do now they do not work. They only fit a very small percentage of bottles.
Answer: This is one only.
Q:
I Got it on after a struggle , now how do I get it off? No matter how hard you push on the button it won't budge. Tom.
Answer: Grab the lower part and then push the button all with one hand. To put it on just push it on without touching the button!
Answer: better late than never...
Answer: Push down with your thumb and pull up at the same time.
Q:
does this work on prosecco bottles?
Answer: We use it almost exclusively on Prosecco, and it works really well.
Answer: That's what I tried to use it on and I had a really hard time getting it off the bottle. Took me several tries and after about 20 minutes I finally got it off!
Answer: Yes!
Q:
Can you rinse this with water to clean it?
Answer: Yes. ( My favorite wine stopper!)
Answer: We have
Q:
How does it release? I’ve hurt my hand twice and I’ve read all threads. Help!
Answer: Mine was easy to release (by pushing top bottom) but it would not seal on the majority of my bottles.
Answer: You just depress the botton on top of stopper
Q:
Apparently this is not an air tight seal, if not, why not just put the cork back on?
Answer: For me, this wine sealer does the job. It may not be air tight, but it keeps the bottle from leaking when laying on it's side. Very happy with this purchase.
Answer: I just enjoy the ease and speed of the cork seal....taking on and off. Using the cork is more cumbersome----for me. I really love this product!
Answer: Press the top button down as you apply the wine sealer.I found this assures a tight seal. This is for wine, the company also makes one for champagne.
Answer: Good Question. Most of the corks that come out of my Belgian beer bottles flare out at the bottom which makes putting them back in very difficult. I could shave them down, but that is a messy hassle. I've been able to find bottle stoppers at my local liquor stores (and some at the dollar store!) that seal and work great. These have a lever on top that you push down to seal. Search Amazon for "bottle stopper" and look for the ones with levers on top. Best of luck!
Answer: I prefer this one.
Q:
How is this different from the same company's wine sealers?
Answer: Not sure. This is for champagne bottles. Wine sealers usually take air out.
Answer: Faster, easier, smaller,!
Q:
Does this fit on the sparkling wine - moscato d asti bottle (blue bottle)? if so, how long will the bubbles and taste last with this stopper?
Answer: As per other responses, it will not fit beer bottles or 'standard' wine bottles. It must be like a champagne/sparkling bottle top...no idea how long bubbles will last as never have had open bottles around very long :)
Answer: I bought this stopper from review in Cooks Illustrated. It did not work well would not release from champagne bottle. I sent it back.
Answer: Honestly, this thing is a piece of junk. I recommend the Ghidini stainless steel stopper. I have used it on prosecco, champagnes and it has worked for all of these bottles and will keep the bubbly going for days.
Answer: I don't know if it would work on this product. I have used it on a typical champagne bottle and it really works well so if the opening on the bottle is the same size as a regular champagne bottle it should work just as well. Great product.
Answer: This works fine on any bottle with a champagne or sparkling wine bottle top
Answer: The cap does not work on any standard bottle, I found only 2 bottles that the cap worked on. I would not buy this cap !
Q:
Am I a spaz. This thing does not fit any sparkling wine bottle I have purchased?
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: Got it for my Mom as a gift. She uses normal regular sized Freixenet..I sent her this from the comments on the product...Holding the side of the device (don't push down on the top button - that is the RELEASE), simply push it down onto the bottle. You should hear a "click". To open, push the button on top. Hope that helps
Answer: I haven't had any issues with putting them on bottles that I've bought.
Answer: It works best on Champagne. Have had some success on some Prosecos.
Q:
Does it work for prosecco Barefoot sparkling wine? Thanks
Answer: We have used this on many brands of Prosecco and other sparkling wine. Not specifically Barefoot though!
Answer: We use it for a moscato di asti wine and it works perfectly. I believe it will work for any sparkling wine /champagne.
Answer: Yes, wonderfully!
Q:
I could seal the bottle by pressing down while holding the sides. now, though, i cannot get it to release by pressing the button. can anyone help? thx
Answer: I don't press the button down when closing the bottle; merely center the cap over the bottle top and push down on the sides. I do hook my finger over the top of the cap, pressing down on it while pushing down on the sides with the other fingers. Hope this helps.
Q:
Is it made in Germany?
Answer: It is NOT made in Germany. I just bought two and both boxes have a sticker saying it is made in China. I am very disappointed, since we chose this stopper, since it was German made. :-(
Answer: Made in solingen, germany
Answer: Yes. It is made in Germany.
Q:
Okay, I just received my stopper, I'm sure I can figure out how to put it on the bottle, but what are the ball bearings for?
Answer: Those allow it to turn on the bottle sticking it down onto the bottle. I've popped mine off after several day's and still had plenty of bubbles.
Q:
Will this fit on and seal 750ml bottles of Belgian beer?
Answer: Yes, it should. The inside of the cap is plastic / rubber that molds to the bottle then you press in the top to get as much air our and get it air tight. So as long as the bottle is similar in style to a champagne or wine bottle this cap should work.
Answer: I gave these as gifts last year and everyone loved them. Easy to use and you never had anything like this at home before.
Q:
I received mine and the 2 tamper seals were open. They are 2 clear, circular stickers and neither was full attached. Any others with this?
Answer: These are not really tamper seals, they are just stickers to keep the outer retail packaging from sliding off the plain black box. We often seeing them arrive from the manufacture missing.
Answer: No , I didn't have that problem. I love mine. Use it in my wine cellar on opened Champagne stored on it's side. No leakage at all.
Answer: Nope...we’ve ordered four over time and all were delivered with pkg intact...
Answer: No but I can’t ever get mine off of a bottle. I always think I’m gonna have to break the bottle to get it off. Must be a trick that I do not know
Answer: Not my case, but mine doesn't work. Falls out every single time. Very annoying
Answer: Not mine
Q:
Is there a difference between this and the wine saver?
Answer: I have had a few non-sparkling wine bottles that the Cilio Wine sealer seemed to be a bit too small to fit on properly, but the Cilio champagne sealer ended up being too large for those non-sparkling wines. The Cilio sealers do their job very well, though, allowing me to lay the wine bottles on their side in my fridge without leaking. I recommend them in general, just be aware that they are simple stoppers, not claiming to be vacuum sealers.
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: This product works very well with the sparkling wines. It is not designed nor will it fit on most non-sparkling wine bottles.
Answer: Yes, the Champagne sealer is larger to accommodate the larger opening of a Champagne bottle. The wine saver will not fit a Champagne bottle and the Champagne saver will not fit a wine bottle.
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: Wine saver creates vacuum, so it will not work with champagne, but only with non-sparkling wines.
Answer: Champagne Sealer and wine saver have a diffrent size because different diameter at the necks of the bottles
Answer: the Champagne sealer is specially suited to champagne bottles, which have a larger neck. The wine sealer does not fit champagne bottles. I have both and use them appropriately.
Answer: It's larger, works with sparkling wines rather than red or white.
Answer: Yes, it's the same only if you are using it for non-sparkling wine. This one can hold a higher pressure, thus I using it for champagne. This is a good buy. Hope this helps.
Q:
So this is NOT the sealer for champagne but for still wine (not bubbly)?
Answer: This sealer is not for champagne for the reason you stated, but also it is for a different size bottle, i.e., a still white wine that is corked.
Answer: I’m using this for champagne bottles- I used it several times on a couple different types of champagne and it works great. I have NOT used it on a regular wine bottle.
Answer: It is for champagne or any sparkling wine.
Answer: I love my Cilio! My champagne is still bubbly many days later. Just be sure to push down with the main part (not the top). To release, push the top button down. I always hear a “pop” when I do. Works great for me!
Answer: I don't know what bottles it fits. It is too large for wine bottles so I thought it was for pressurized
Answer: The unit I have is for champagne and it works great even when bottles are on their side.
Answer: It's supposed to be for Champagne and I have yet to get it to work. I saw it on America's Test Kitchen and it looked great but it doesn't work. I read the instructions, tried it on several different bottles, yelled at it, but no....doesn't work. I would have sent it back but it didn't cost much so I just wrote it off as wasted money.
Answer: yes, this works for champagne. It does not let the bubbles go flat.
Q:
Does this seal wine bottles also? I ordered the wrong one. The wine one I had worked on wine and champagne.
Answer: Does not work on regular wine bottles
Answer: I just compared my whine sealer with this and the only difference was my wine sealer had a longer plug. So it should work.
Q:
I bought one of these and sealed it simply by pressing down while holding the sides. Now, though, I cannot get it to release by neartly-full bottle th
Answer: Make sure that you do not inadvertently press the release button while sealing champagne bottle. This happened to me once. To solve the problem, I used a flexible rubber jar opener for grip and leverage, and pressed down on the release button while at the same time pulling the stopper with brute force. Fortunately, it worked. With the stopper off, I repeatedly pressed the release button while realigning the gripping teeth inside until it functioned properly. The problem never repeated.
Answer: I had the exact same problem. Fiddled around for quite a long time and finally got it to release by tilting heavily to the side while pressing down on the center. I returned the product due this issue, as it was by far the most problematic champagne stopper I've ever encountered.
Answer: Press the button on the top as you pull the stopper away from the bottle.
Answer: I experienced the same problem. Poor design. I threw ours away.
Q:
Will it work on regular beer bottles?
Answer: Sorry. Don't know about beer bottles but it works great a keeping the carbonation in champagne. I would imagine if it fits a particular beer bottle it would work great.
Answer: It doesn't work on beer or wine bottles - but works GREAT on champagne! The mouth of their bottle has a slightly different shape than beer and wine bottles.
Answer: Have only used on champagne bottles and not very often since it is usually finished. The regular wine bottle sealer works great. Never spill a drop.
Answer: Not sure but I think it would be worth trying.
Product reviews of Cilio 18/10 Stainless Steel Wine Sealer
Richard R. butcher : this is just way too easy to use and way to efficient to mess up
bought this for my wife and she cannot live without this........this is just way too easy to use and way to efficient to mess up. seriously she has logged a lot of miles on wine over the years and the pain of sealing it up is over for her thanks to this lil' device. as you can probably tell by now I highly recommend this as a must have item for keeping the wine safe , sealed and fresh.
RGM : Just good on champagne bottles
Does not ALSO fit or work on regular wine bottles.
Y.K. : Wonderful bubbly bottle cap
A Wonderful bubbly sealer. It is easy to use, looks good and is low profile (so the bottle can fit standing in the fridge without much difficulty).
kw : IT ACTUALLY WORKS
i bought this back in march, but there has not been much to celebrate this year. I finally unearthed it along with a bottle of prosecco. I first used it on a half full bottle. The next night, the fizz was almost like a newly opened bottle. Another time with the bottle half full, it was recorked for 48 hours. There was still a decent amount of fizz and the same full body taste. If you are a bubbly fan, it is a definite must. It means you can open a bottle for even a non-event and not waste a drop.
D. Halloran : Works perfect on Korbel bottles
Works great, albeit a little tricky at first. Make sure to push it down until it clicks to seal. Don't pull on the cap when trying to remove it, just push the button until it clicks, using the bottom lip as leverage. I've used it to seal up bottles of Korbel with no problem.
D. Nankin : Could not remove, wasted all but one glass of freshly-opened champagne!
If you want to seal an open bottle of champagne so that you can never open it again, this is the product for you! I opened a bottle, put the champagne (so labeled) stopper on, and returned to open it some fifteen minutes later. I clicked. Nothing. I tried two thumbs. I tried the flat of my hand. I tried to get it off as shown (and every other way) for twenty minutes of exertion. It wouldn't come off. So it not only cost me the price of the stopper, it cost me a bottle of champagne that is many times more expensive. Maybe it works on some bottles but not all. I'll never know because I can't get it off to try it again! I've used champagne stoppers my whole life. This one has stopped ME. Save your money and your champagne!!! Don't buy!
Jana : Easy to use and works fantastic!
Great Champagne Cork even stored on its side.
Deetle : Doesn’t work , the whole bottle leaked into my beverage fridge
Doesn’t seal at all . See video
aaryn s. : I put it on the bottle then about an hour later came back and the champagne still had bubbles and it came off super easily. Im a
I am someone who is totally obsessed with mimosas so you will always find champagne in my fridge. I even had a brunch bridal shower just so we could do mimosas!! lol I was skeptical of this product at first but after using it for the first time I cant get over how well it works! I put it on the bottle then about an hour later came back and the champagne still had bubbles and it came off super easily. Im actually thinking of getting a few more!
M. : Doesn't Fit on Any bottle!
I bought 2 for Christmas presents and one for myself as this was recommended by America's Test Kitchen/Cooks Illust....Unfortunately I put them aside. Horrible, these don't fit any of my bottles....I've tried Champagne, wine cork screw bottles, screw caps bottles, it won't grip onto anything. And I'm passed the Amazon return window although I might explore. And the company is international, so no 800# to call them. I'd definitely avoid this product. Perhaps the Champagne cap version does fit as Amer Test Kitchen said, however this it the "wine cap" version.....won't fit so far on anything I own!
DAN : Click to seal. Good Deal!
Picked it because Americas Test Kitchen and Consumer reports rated it as the best. Very happy. Tested it with water, then with cold soda in an empty chainpaine bottle. No leaks. We allowed the soda to warm up and we gave it a good shake. No leaks. A good product that should help preserve a nice bottle of sparkling California wine for a day or too. While I don't feel comfortable laying the bottle on its side, I'm sure it would work as advertised. Either way, concrete acknowledgment of the seal creates a sense that it won't go flat.
Virginia W. Fountain : Was a 5, now a 1.
I have loved this champagne stopper for years and have given some as gifts. However the last three I've ordered were defective. See the photo I attached. The one on the left shows the inside white part is thin on one side. When I try to put it on, my choices are either it won't stay on at all or push it on so far I can barely get it off. I'm so disappointed and hope to try them again one day when they fix the defect.
Tarabella : Had this about 8 months - it's a keeper!
This little gadget works great. I've actually left sparkling wine in the fridge with this little cap securely attached and voila', it was still bubbly!. I highly recommend. It takes a bit to get the hang of using it but after you've got it, it's a good thing!
KL83 : Keep Your Bubbly, Bubbly
Great way to preserve your sparking wine when you can’t make it through an entire bottle. Keeps your bubbly, bubbly :)
Y.K. : Wonderful bubbly bottle cap
A Wonderful bubbly sealer. It is easy to use, looks good and is low profile (so the bottle can fit standing in the fridge without much difficulty).
Shahla : Happy with the purchase
Easy to use and good quality

Margaret : Don't buy this
So I had trouble getting the damn thing on the bottle and now I can't get it off!!! Having to throw out bottle and this damn stopper is going in the trash with it.
WLL : Worked ok for the first couple months...after 4 months no longer locks
I've had this about 4 months and it no longer locks on the bottle. It was always quite loose but after some use it won't lock at all, so it really isn't usable any more.
Bill iI : Use it correctly or you are throwing it away.
Just used this for the first time, though I bought it months ago. It ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT RELEASE from the bottle. I’m completely flummoxed - normally a capable person. Only by now searching the collection of questions do I see that others have experienced this too. No solution once improperly used!!! I’ve done everything short of breaking the bottle. Now, amazon tells me my “return window closed”. !!! Unless the manufacturer sends me another one, I am S. O. L.
Robert E. Kirk : Awful
Very disapointing champain stopper. I drink Korbel. The stopper was extremely hard to put on, then to get it off I had to strike the release button with a hammer and pull on the stopper to get it off. Also th silicone seal came off. All that and my champain was flat as a pancake. Went back to the traditional clamshell type that you can hear the fizz release when you take it off. Nice looking paper weight at this point.

Kathy S : It keeps the fizz!
This is a great product! I learned about it from one of the cooking podcasts. I use if for champagne and prosecco and think it keeps it bubbly. So far, it has fit all of the bottles I have tried. Very happy with this cap.
C. : GOOD FIND
AT FIRST DIDNT KNOW HOW TO USE IT. I WAS SURPRISED IT WORKED COULD NEVER FIND A STOPPER THAT I COULD LAY THE BOTTLE ON ITS SIDE WITHOUT IT SPILLING. BUT IT DID SPILL ONLY WHEN I REACHED RO GET THE BOTTLE OUT. BUT I PROBABLY DIDNT PUT IT TIGHT ENOUGH. OTHER THAN THAT, THIS IS GREAT.
Spikerchick : Would send it back but waited too long to test it since it was recommended by American Test Kitchens
Can not get it to function at all. Will not klamp onto the bottle and click in place. Would send it back but waited too long to test it since it was recommended by American Test Kitchens.
Genghis C : Not as good a sealer as the older design...
My wife really enjoys drinking Champagne and we have used the older Champagne Bottle Stoppers for years and were quite pleased with it. After checking the review it looked like the Cilo would be even more convenient to use. Having used this now for a couple of months I can report that it does not work as well as the original Champagne Bottle Stoppers with the arms that come down on the neck of the bottle.
The big difference that we found was the Cilo does not keep the bubbles from escaping as well as the older design. Cilo will be good for a day or two at most. If your using it to just seal in the bubbles for a day, it will work okay. The big difference you will notice is when you open it up, there is not a 'Pop' like you get with the older design. We bought the Winco Champagne Bottle Stopper (the older design) and it holds the bubbles in quite effectively for 2-3 times as long. Happy wife... happy life. ;-)
Shahla : Happy with the purchase
Easy to use and good quality
John Chester : It Works!!!
I've read that some people have had difficulty with SOME bottles. I have had NO problem, with any of the bottles I've tried it on. Granted... I don't buy anything exotic, or in anything other than 750ml or the rare 1L bottle (or from anywhere other than "Trader Joe's"). I don't DRINK much wine, but I cook with it, a LOT! If I drank wine regularly, resealing it would NOT even be an issue! BUT... using wine for cooking leaves you with multiple leftover bottles, for a while & my Cilio seems to be keeping it really fresh! I WILL be buying MORE!!! Its low profile also works MUCH better, in the area of my kitchen where I keep my cooking wines (limited height), than other 'stopper' types I've tried.
AbbyMo : Works surprisingly well.
I was actually quite surprised at how well this worked. I have always thought that you had to drink the whole bottle of champagne in one day because there was no way to preserve it but this little thing works wonders.
DAN : Click to seal. Good Deal!

Karen : useless, almost impossible to get off the bottle
I hate this product, it's the worst. I bought it because of all the great reviews, I don't understand how anyone can use this. It's virtually impossible to get it off the champagne bottle. I almost never use this thing because it usually takes at least 10 minutes of struggling to get it off the bottle, Tonight I had to give up and throw the bottle away, with the stopper still attached. Don't buy this!
Heather : Keeps prosecco bubbly
This item is perfect for keeping bubbly wine fresh. I drink a glass a day and still have bubbles.

Happy wife... happy life. ;-)
Jennifer J : Works well
Keeps sparkling wine or champagne bubbly for an extra day or two, but I wouldn't go beyond that as the flavor is just a little off.
JLM : Best wine accessory ever.
I got one of these for my wedding shower, and I've bought a few for friends. It creates a nice tight seal (though you still can't store the bottle on its side); you can pick the whole bottle up by the sealer, though I don't make a habit of this. It's super-easy to pop off when you want to, too. My friends all love them when I give them as gifts, and I'm really considering another one for me at this point too (bottle of red and a bottle of white!).

David J Lockhart : Absolutely terrible - clamped on the bottle and wouldn't come off.
Something was terribly wrong. This batch of champagne bottle stoppers DID NOT WORK AT ALL. They were worse than terrible. They were hard to get to seal, and when they did seal they would not come off. Extremely frustrating and unpleasant. We nearly wasted a couple bottles of expensive champagne because we could not get the stoppers off even with a great deal of effort. We've had these products before and they worked very well. In fact, this last batch we bought as gifts for a friend. But this batch did not work at all. We felt bad for giving them as a gift and nearly ruining a party and wasting good bottles of champagne.
K. Sedota : Just does not work
I have yet to find any bottle that will work with this thing. Every single bottle is too big. More properly this thing is too small. Don’t waste your money.
Jana : Easy to use and works fantastic!
Great Champagne Cork even stored on its side.
T. A. Yasko : Cilio 18/10 Stainless Steel Champagne Sealers - Pleasantly Awesome...
I purchased these in August of 2017 and now keep a few bottles of champagne or other bubbly on hand. I never used to do that- like most folks, I would purchase champagne when I needed it, and in the appropriate quantity b/c once opened, you had to finish it.
I honestly didn't plan on writing a review, but towards the end of September 2018, I opened a new bottle of champagne- mainly to have with orange juice to have as mimosas (as the orange juice was due to expire by mid-October and I had been away). Anyhoo, I finished the oj back then... but just last night- October 25th (no lie)- I was going to make a cocktail and noticed the not-yet-finished champagne in my fridge. I thought for sure this would have lost all its bubbly.
Sure enough, nope- it was still good. Although I didn't record any qualitative data from weeks before, once I took of the Cilio Sealer and poured the remaining glassful of champagne into a flute- it bubbled as if it had just been opened!!!
I had my doubts when I purchased these- but wow. I had opened a bottle of champagne, used a sealer and put it back in the fridge, forgot about it- and yet- over 25 days later, it was still good.
Amazing product. Thank you!
Barbara : Having a Fit!
I have been looking for a wine sealer and purchased this one based on all the positive reviews. Although well made and reasonably priced, it did not fit on ANY of my wine bottles. I have no idea what kind of bottle the reviewers are using, but I purchase Liberty School Cabernet and other wines, and this does not work on any. Very disappointed!
brad : Great device to keep champagne fresh
Works great for keeping champagne fresh. A little difficult to open at times.
Deborah J. Drews : Has a great seal... but difficult to release
This keep champagne nice and bubbly, however the release button on the top requires a very strong person to release it. I tried evertything to release the stopper and I don't think I'm weak. If I have to ask my strong-thumbed husband to open a bottle for me, I'm not sure I'd recommend this. Sorry!
Lynny : So Easy to use
I purchased this for a senior citizen and she loves it. Chose it for the simple action required to put it on. This Cilio seemed too easy. You grasp the larger cylinder and pull down and it seals. To open the bottle, depress the top. Love it and I'm certain I will buy more for gifts. The other type of sparkling wine stopper I have used is the wing style. That one needs to be pushed down while ridges on the 'levers' get clamped under the bottle's lip. It requires a bit of strength to push it down far enough to squeeze the levers into place. The coordination and required hand strength can be challenging for some people. The Cilio is so smooth, I just think it's the greatest thing to have when you want to enjoy sparkling wine but don't necessarily want the whole bottle in one evening. I have found that there is enough carbonation the next day for a decent glass. Of course, for non-vertical storage between glasses, this sealer is perfect.
WLL : Worked ok for the first couple months...after 4 months no longer locks
I've had this about 4 months and it no longer locks on the bottle. It was always quite loose but after some use it won't lock at all, so it really isn't usable any more.
Amazon Customer : Highly recommended by America's Test Kitchen . . .
I have had another brand of champagne sealer and it just started popping off. I get all my kitchen gadgets, pans, etc. with America's Test Kitchen reviews. Have never been disappointed. This is easy, it stays on, even if it is a magnum and easy off. I also bought the wine sealer as well. Highly recommend!!!
LocoPomtini : Veuve hostage or Won’t seal
Update. I had an open bottle of Veuve Clicquot I thought so I would try it again in case the bottle size made a difference. It sealed the bottle but then I could not get it off. I had to review the video to make sure I was doing it right and then try several times again. All in fear that a 2/3 full bottle of Veuve was going to go to waste. I got this because it was recommended by American test kitchen. The first one I returned because it would not sealed. The second one would not seal. Both were on the same bottle of champagne.
KenJ : Be careful - this is a *wine* bottle sealer, not the champagne sealer
I already had the Cilio champagne sealer and thought I was ordering another one. Although both the wine and champagne versions look identical (as presented in their side-photos), this is the *WINE* sealer (small opening), NOT the champagne sealer. The opening on this sealer is smaller and it will NOT fit champagne bottles.
With respect to it's stated purpose, it's still useless as a wine sealer. You really want to evacuate the air (at a minimum) from the bottle and this does NOT do that. In fact, some other reviews complain of it leaking air back into the bottle. This is no better than just plugging the cork back in! I cannot recommend it for this reason. If you're looking for an inexpensive alternative, i recommend (and use) the Vacu Vin's.
