Anyone used this knife with other then fish, like like fowl ?

Answer: I used it on walleye, very poorly made. Under powered. I feel ripped off! Once I found it was useless for its sole purpose of filleting fish I threw it in my drawer for there it would remain as a fixture. I tried it for turkey and roast beef....again under powered and USELESS!!!!

Answer: I used it for fish and it did not work all that well with fish, I returned the knife and went with a none electric one, much better.

Answer: I only used this knife on fish. I was not satisfied with it at all. It did not have the power if needed to do a good job of cleaning fish. I sent it back after the first week.

I received the product and case was broken. It had a zip tie to keep it together? Can we get a new case?

Answer: I am sorry to hear about the handle. All of the knives come with a zip lock on. The come from the factory that way. There is no way for me to get another box. If it will help you I can give you a small refund of $8.00 dollars. Sorry for the inconvience Bob

Answer: First time used and it was broken. Since my husband did not use it until fishing season beyond 30 days it could not be refunded. Lost my money. Not worth it.

Does this version really have an 18 foot cord as listed? thanks!! (18 foot power cord is 5th spec. down on ad).

Answer: I only have the 110V version and it's cord is only about 8'. Still the best electric filleting knife I've owned.

Answer: I have never measured it but, for my use, it is too long. 18 feet sounds about right. I have been using this knife for 15 years and cleaned over 40.000 fish with three knives... Wore one out and bought another new one 4 times.. Only thing is that they should be regreased after about 2,000 fish. LOL Not a hard job to do either.

Answer: Although I never measured it, it is no doubt very long. I pull my truck up to a picnic table where I clean fish. It has far more cable then I need. The only issue I have with the long cable is storage between uses. I wrap the line around the knife handle for storage. It requires unwinding it with the same process that you wind it or it will tend to knot up.

what is the warranty on this knife?

Answer: I'm not sure. It was a gift, but never did work. Too bad for them.

How many amps does this draw when used with 12 volt?

Answer: I use it on 12 volts many times although I mostly use the transformer. When I did hook it up to my automobile battery I cleaned over 100 fish at a time and never had to worry about my car starting. Can't be more than 3-5 amps 12 volts (around 35-50 watts)

Does this model come with the compact travel case?

Answer: This product does come with a case.

Answer: Yes, The unit is hard cased and I keep it on board as a backup to the lithium powered Rapala filet knife. I would estimate the hard case to be maybe 15 long, 7 wide, and 4 deep but the provided dimensions are estimates from memory.

Answer: Long enough to clean your fish probably. I use a small battery for my trolling moter after I catch fish.

Answer: Not very long, and I am not sure that one would pull it. Save your money, this is not a very good knife, its quite slow and does not do a good job.

Where this knife work on frozen fish?

Answer: Hard frozen fish I would say "no". Half thawed it likely would work well.

Answer: Unless you are cutting through big bones, I have never had to sharpen my blades and I have used this knife for 15 years and cleaned 10,000 fish with each of 4 new knives. I am NOT kidding! Been retired all that time...

Answer: I've got the 110V one so no experience with 12 volt one. I expect if the battery is 12V it should work fine.

the trigger had to be pressed unreasonably hard to activate the knife. I took it apart and the trigger didn't contact the actuator button well enough so i put a couple folds of electrical tape inside the trigger to span the distance so now it works better. So if you're willing to take it apart for this, it's a good fileting knife. I was worried it may cut through the bones or through the skin as part of the process but it did not... the blade design is good.

I've bought and borrowed similar fillet knives but none of them even compare to this one. All you have to do is guide it and it does all the work. Be cleaning fish for 50 years and this was my best experience.

My father filets his fish on a fish cleaning station he sets up in the trunk of his car. He likes to use an electric knife that runs off battery power or connects to his car's cigarette lighter. He has even attached the hookups to the battery in the boat and that worked well too. He raves about how well it works.

I gave this knife to my father-in-law as a Christmas present (2020). The first time he needed to use it was this past weekend (June 4, 2021). I helped him take it out of the package for the first time and plug it into a 110 outlet. The knife didn't work once plugged in. Then shortly after the black box on the 110V AC adapter began to smoke. We quickly unplugged it. After cleaning all our fish by hand I did try connecting the knife to a 12V battery and the knife work. However, the knife was too expensive not to be able to be plugged into a 110 outlet. Don't waste your money.

Awful. Had to literally rip/tear through the fish. Ended up just throwing away the first fish. Figured on the second I'd just have to cut the whole side off and leave the scales on. Only gave it two stars bc it can connect to cig lighter outlet and to boat batter as well as AC power, which is why I bought it. I'd buy a generator to run a cheap Mister Twister before bying this again. Wish I could return it but it is covered with butchered fish parts....

I ordered it before the fishing trip and I loved it. The case, long cords, 12V, 110V, car battery clips, multiple blades, priced good... Loved it! Then I set it up to clean the fish. I did one. The motor stops any time you push on the knife. Looks like the knife does not get enough power. Could be because the 12 V motor? I'll try one running on 110 and will see. I'd sure like to keep it, but can't really use it the way it is.

Ok so here's the deal....they do what they're sold to do. I am an avid Fisherman and fish about 4 days per week due to my proximity to a local Lake and River. I've cleaned hundreds of fish including Crappy, Largemouth Bass, Striped Bass, and Catfish. The knife is certainly strong enough but the reason for the deduction in stars is the blade quality. The blades tend to dull rather quickly, noticed it on the 4th cleaning. Replacement blades are rather easy to find but who wants to be constantly buying blades? Truthfully, for what you pay a better quality blade made from higher quality metal should be provided. If you're a sometimes fisherman this will be fine for you. For those that fish (and catch) routinely you'll probably want to go ahead and invest in a higher quality knife.

Great looking, slightly packed but tough carrying case, sharp blades. Those would be the only positives of this knife. The blade release button is in a bad spot, the knife is completely underpowered by 12 volts or 110 power. Was useless while attempting to properly filet catfish, which has minimal bones to cut through. I returned it promptly after attempting to clean only 3 fish, 1 1/2 fish attempted at each form of power.

I purchased this knife based on a 110 volt Rapala used by my relative to clean Redfish. I went to use my 12 volt with plugged in a/c-d/c adaptar on a large mess of redfish we caught in south Lousiana. I started out on a small red and could barely get it through the first line of scales. I thought I was doing something wrong. I tried again on an even smaller fish with no success. Meanwhile my cousin was burning through 20-24 inch fish like butter with his 110 volt knife. My knife stalled, got hot and would not cut even the flesh of the fish. The blades themselves were plenty sharp but the motor would not create any type of RPMs. I would not waste money on another Rapala like this one.
