Answer: It says PFS which I think stands for Plastic Film Sealer. I would look for a brand name, this particular brand has a short life, mine only lasted for 9 months, I have to replace it now. I have found a brand called C&H that looks to have a good track record, it costs a bit more, but if it lasts any decent amount of time it will, in the long run, actually be cheaper. That is usually my way of purchasing, get the best not the cheapest. On this item I am sorry to have tried to save the money. I have needed the sealer and it is non functioning. Good luck.

Answer: It would probably do just fine with cellophane but are you positive that's what you have? Cellophane isn't used much anymore. I use a lot of flip top baggies in mine and it works very well. The temperature is adjustable so you shouldn't have trouble sealing whatever plastic you might want to use.

Answer: You can usually tear of the excess right at the seal but there is no blade cutter to cut of the film 1/4" below the seal.

Answer: If you turn the temp down quite a bit it might. Keep in mind that shrink wrap won't completely seal shut because it's too thin. The best you could do is reinforce it a bit. If you need a liquid or air tight seal you'll have to use cellophane or some other material made for heat sealing.

Answer: I don't know about ribbons but this sealer barely even did the job it was meant to do. It's also cheaply made and not worth your time and money.

Answer: The seal strength should be the same on all materials. If anything the material itself will rip before the seal. I would check with your material supplier as to what they recommend for your specific use.

Answer: I'm afraid I don't know if the sealer can handle mylar bags. The 1 page literature that came with the sealer mentions use for polyethylene and polypropylene bags. We use the sealer to keep medical instruments sealed up in plastic bags for storage after they are sanitized. Sorry if this answer is not much help.

The seal is very clean looking, and can be repeated one after another if a wider seal is desired (just tried this). It's got an adjustable timer too so you can seal different thickness plastics with ease.

This product did not work at all. When I finally plugged it in, nothing happened. In fact, the plug could hardly be said to stay in the outlet without help. Since this was my second unsuccessful attempt at purchasing a working cellophane bag sealer, I have to say you're better off skipping this item. Amazon Customer Service is to be commended for the fine way their reps listened to and handled my issue. I have to say even though the product didn't work, Amazon's Customer Service came through with flying colors. I felt understood. Not only did I receive a refund, but I also received a future credit for the shipping charges I had paid.
Although I was surprised that this second order of a product didn't work, the main lesson I gleaned from this experience was when ordering electrical appliances, test them out immediately!

Good product so far and it seems to be working as promised. The product was most likely made in China, and I wish the manual had been reviewed by English speaking professionals. It's almost to the point of being unintelligible. And that does not help at all understanding how to operate it, possibly resulting in faulty operations and, by way of consequence, bad reviews.

Alright, so after a few complications:
Arrival-A day late(no big deal)
Open package to inspect-I noticed that something did not seem right, even though the description said new and the sticker on the box says NEW, it looked as though it had been used MANY times over as the cloth on it had been burned and the metal base had been burned(small sized spots) almost looks as though it sparked and almost lit on fire, even the rubber (upper portion) had char marks on it. Some of the metal was warped where the screws were as if it had been disassembled and reassembled a few times.
First Usage- Despite it had been a used item, I decided to give it a try, well I tried 2 different bags and multiple settings and it did not work AT ALL, I was aware on the steps to use it(from others experiences)despite the directions were very poor English. I was seriously going to return it and was very dissatisfied with it. I even looked at it further and noticed the one of the screws that holds one side of the strip was missing(which is why it probably did not work, the other screw on the other side had rust starting to form on it(close to where the char area is)
After some pondering- I decided to go pack it up to return it and after looking in the box I had seen the extras for the wire and the cloth, and low and behold that tiny screw(I am surprised it did not fall out of the box) so i disassembled and re assembled and decided to try it out, well it worked, so now I am not sure if I should keep it and hope it keeps up(being that it is already IDK how old and used) or return it because it is used.
Overall I don't know whether to give this a 2 or 3 stars, my whole experience was not pleasant.

I wanted to make handmade treats for Christmas, and wanted them to stay extra fresh during shipping, so I found this budget-priced sealer. I love it! The dial is pretty sensitive...the difference between melting a hole in your bag and not sealing at all could be a matter of a teeny tiny adjustment...but I did finally find the perfect setting and was able to seal a LOT of gifts! I imagine it would have been better had I found slightly thicker bags, as well...I was using a very low setting for thinner cellophane bags. Anyway, thanks for offering this at an affordable price!!!! Even came with some replacement parts as well. I anticipate using this every Christmas, and sometimes more if events come up!

Open package to inspect-I noticed that something did not seem right, even though the description said new and the sticker on the box says NEW, it looked as though it had been used MANY times over as the cloth on it had been burned and the metal base had been burned(small sized spots) almost looks as though it sparked and almost lit on fire, even the rubber (upper portion) had char marks on it. Some of the metal was warped where the screws were as if it had been disassembled and reassembled a few times.
First Usage- Despite it had been a used item, I decided to give it a try, well I tried 2 different bags and multiple settings and it did not work AT ALL, I was aware on the steps to use it(from others experiences)despite the directions were very poor English. I was seriously going to return it and was very dissatisfied with it. I even looked at it further and noticed the one of the screws that holds one side of the strip was missing(which is why it probably did not work, the other screw on the other side had rust starting to form on it(close to where the char area is)
After some pondering- I decided to go pack it up to return it and after looking in the box I had seen the extras for the wire and the cloth, and low and behold that tiny screw(I am surprised it did not fall out of the box) so i disassembled and re assembled and decided to try it out, well it worked, so now I am not sure if I should keep it and hope it keeps up(being that it is already IDK how old and used) or return it because it is used.
Overall I don't know whether to give this a 2 or 3 stars, my whole experience was not pleasant.

If it were possible to give a rating less than 1 star, I would do so. I received my sealer and I cannot use it. The plug is a round 2 prong plug. The item had free shipping. The seller has started off offering me a $10 refund. I find this unacceptable. I have learned a lesson with this purchase. In the future, I will only order Amazon Prime items.

We purchased this and some various candy bags and food-grade plastic tubing to package various handmade chocolates and candies my wife makes for baby showers, christenings, bridal showers, etc.
The impulse sealer works great - fast, clean seal on the plastic. We find using it on 1 or between 1 and 2 on the heat setting is sufficient for most thin food packaging. You just plug it in, set the heat setting and tap the plunger down to make a seal across the two sides of a bag etc. It only takes seconds -- very fast to seal when you're doing a few hundred individual items.
We've found that chocolate covered pretzels etc. stay fresh and crunchy a lot longer sealed with this as compared to using twist-ties, tape, ribbon, etc.
It comes with replacement consumable parts as well, so its bound to last for a long time - its one of the best purchases we've made to package chocolates, pops and candies.
I also use it to seal small packs of screws, tool spare parts, etc.

I wish I could leave ZERO stars. This thing stopped working today. The SAME day I received it. I'm right in the middle of packaging my soaps for my customers, and now I'm just screwed. Don't waste your money. I've already packaged it up and it's on the way back to Amazon.

I had to return the item I ordered because it did not actually fit the 8" plastic sleeve that I wanted to heat seal. This heat sealer can only do 7.5" wide plastics. But I wanted to share with others what I have seen when I opened the package. The 8" heat sealer I got was made of stamped metal and securely packed. I saw two 1-1/2" replacement non-adhesive teflon tape and 2 replacement flat wire in the box. What I did not see is an extra/replacement 1/2" adhesive teflon tape that goes underneath the flat wire. The flat wire is actually sandwiched between the 1-1/2" non-adhesive tape on top and the 1/2" adhesive tape below. The 1/2" adhesive teflon tape would have to be purchased separately at a premium price. It seems these heat sealers are sold at bargain prices because they easily make up for it by charging more for the replacement parts. Similar to what printer manufacturers do with their ink supplies.

Sealed about 300 bags and the material that covers the heating element tore after about 50. We ended up having to carefully remove each bag in order to try to complete the project. Do yourself a favor and spend a bit more and buy a decent version.

I love this sealer, works for EVERYTHING!! You do have to waste a bag to figure out how to pull the bag off ect. but after that it's great!! has no on off, just plug in and push.. takes a second.. then your done.. if you work back to back sealing then it stays warm and works faster. cool to touch in 1/2 a sec.. Worth the price so far!!
