Answer: The gripper portion is 9-10 inches long and 1/2 inch wide. I haven't damaged any fish using mine. The scale portion (with hook) is about the same length. Use the lanyard to attach the 2 pieces and it comes out to about 2 foot long. BTW, I weighed some metal weights when I got it and found it very accurate at 5 and 10 pounds.

Answer: Sadly, throw it away. I had the same issue, worked great for about one tournament then just died. I then bought the Rapala 15lb digital tournament scale and swapped the clip for the small Ardent gripper clamp. I have a full year on that rig, dropped it in my live well at least once, baked it in the sun, and left it in the rain...and my weights are still spot on with the weigh-in results.

In testing mine, I connected the gripper to a 10 pound object and then connected it to the scale. As soon as I lifted, the split ring pulled apart. I replaced it with a sturdier one from an old key ring.

This was what I thought would be a good product bought it September 2018 used for a couple months' put it away for the off season in which the battery died. Now with a new battery in it it no longer works. You can't change the weight read out and now it reads everything 500% heavier than it was supposed to (tested with a 5 #weight). Don't Waste you're time.

I had this scale to use while kayak fishing as it was advertised as waterproof and floatable. I mostly bought due to it being floatable as I would not have to necessarily tether it to the kayak. This product had not even gotten very wet and had never been submerged. Yet, the product became waterlogged and quit working for awhile. Now it is working but you can barely see the numbers. I would not recommend this item at all. I have had other scales that work much better than this one albeit for a higher price and they were not advertised as waterproof or floatable.

Great fish scale at a reasonable price. It was perfectly accurate right out of the package. I dropped it off my kayak into the water and it floated fine and appears to have no water intrusion. Also the fish grippers work great and hold the fish with no problems.

I’ll start with the bad...and this is entirely my fault. To test the accuracy of this I clipped it onto a 25lb dumbbell (I’ve never caught a fish that weighed more that 12lbs but it was the first thing I saw in my garage that I was sure weighed a particular number)
Upon hoisting it up the metal ring entirely came undone but I was able to fix it with a spare keyring. Works like a champ so far & the display is very bright & easy to read even in complete darkness. Make sure to remove the film on the battery, otherwise it’ll never make a connection. Highly recommend!

Easy to read. Grippers are great for smaller fish. Being waterproof is key. Rubber seals around battery compartment. So many reviews on other scales say they quit in rain/water, even very expensive ones It floats if it does go overboard. You have to pull the "tape" off battery to get it working.

I received the scale and lip gripper recently and it appears the scale is very accurate. The lip gripper that comes with the scale is small, so may not be the best for someone with large hands, but it it closes tightly and feel confident it will do it's job. The fact that they are both orange / black is very nice so it will be easy to spot if laid down while I am out and being able to float is a plus.

Other than that I've had nothing but problems with it. Maybe I have a defective unit.

The battery is constantly dead. Not sure whether it has an auto-off, but it definitely needs one - and a feature to keep it from accidentally turning on when resting in a bag. Again, if it has these features, they need to be improved because they don't work.

I've never had more than one day of use, only to grab it the next time out and have it not work.

I just replaced the battery this weekend. Had one good day of use. I even packed spare batteries in my tackle box. Two days later I go to use it - nothing. Won't turn on. I replace the battery on the spot. Still won't turn on.

Very disappointed. Sadly, when I search for a scale with the features I want - this is what keeps showing up. I see others with positive reviews. Maybe mine is a dud.

Not sure I want to risk it on another one. So frustrating.

good little tool to have the the fishing bag. great way to keep track of your personal record fish, as the scale is accurate to within a few ounces as tested by a known weight. the plastic clamp feels a little light, but so far has worked great. if i can get a year's worth of fishing and weighing out of it, it will have been more than worth it.

This company sells absolute garbage! The scale came Dead on arrival, tried multiple batteries and nothing. The gripper was very cheap and I was able to spread the jaws apart with almost no effort, wouldn't trust it to hold any type of fish. I have had nothing but absolute garbage from KastKing and will not buy another one of their products again. I have an Assassin baitcaster that does nothing but backlash and it backlashed while casting a castable sonar and snapped the 30 lb line, throwing $239 into the water 40 ft away. Collapsible net collapses while trying to land fish, making it useless.

Was a good little scale. Like anything on a boat, it needs to be able to get wet. Putting a little gasket over the batter compartment doesn't do a whole lot of good if the clamshell (body) of the scale itself doesn't seal properly....

I gave it 2 stars only because it was a good little scale, sadly I ended up paying 10 a month to find out it isn't as waterproof as they advertise.

I bought this scale because it was supposed to be waterproof. The first time it rained this scale flooded with water. ( it was not submerged) I took it apart and dried it out with a hair dryer. It appears to be working but it is certainly not waterproof. I noticed that some of the screws holding it together had rubber plugs covering them and some did not. Poor quality control.

This is my first Muskie caught @ the end of 9mile st.clair shores, mi. The scale said that this 46” Muskie weighed 13.4lbs. I placed weights in a bucket and the scale is off by lbs every time. I wanted to send state of michigan a pic with fish and weight but the scale is so off I can’t register my first Muskie catch for anglers patch. This scale can suck it!

RT : Safe way to handle and weigh fish (for fish and angler)!

Used these a bunch of times to grab fish and weight them. Caught 4 catfish weighing over 4 pounds and a 3.5 lb large mouth bass in an hour and got to try out these grips and scale. They were easy to use, and none of the fish were harmed using them. It did take a little time to figure out how to hold it just right so they wouldn't slip off, but now it's second nature.

I ended up buying another set to keep in another tackle bag. I noticed that there was a slight gap between the gripper's arms, but it didn't seem to affect their use.
