Answer: Sadly, throw it away. I had the same issue, worked great for about one tournament then just died. I then bought the Rapala 15lb digital tournament scale and swapped the clip for the small Ardent gripper clamp. I have a full year on that rig, dropped it in my live well at least once, baked it in the sun, and left it in the rain...and my weights are still spot on with the weigh-in results.

In testing mine, I connected the gripper to a 10 pound object and then connected it to the scale. As soon as I lifted, the split ring pulled apart. I really like this scale, from it being waterproof to the "last 8 weights" memory. The grabbers are weak and slipped on a 4 pound fish. I would much rather they add a grabber clip to the scale in place of the gill hook and get rid of this useless add-on.

Was a good little scale. Like anything on a boat, it needs to be able to get wet. Putting a little gasket over the batter compartment doesn't do a whole lot of good if the clamshell (body) of the scale itself doesn't seal properly....

I gave it 2 stars only because it was a good little scale, sadly I ended up paying 10 a month to find out it isn't as waterproof as they advertise.

this combo has amazing value. the scale is a litte hard to use, but once you get used to it, its amazing. it is high quality and comes with a backlit screen, which is perfect for night fishing. the lip grabber is perfect. its a little small for my hands, but the small size is also a plus. it can easily fit in a pocket, or under a seat and is extremely easy to use. i would recommend this product to anybody.

Nice scale and seemed to do the job well for the price. Then I had it in my backpack for a wade fishing trip. I didn't really mean to get my backpack wet, but sometimes depth is a little hard to gauge. No big deal though since the scale is waterproof, right? Nope. Got home and the thing has a significant amount of water inside. Went ahead and took it apart to dry it out and see if it worked once dry, but it didn't. Taking it apart I did get to see where it failed. They did a good job sealing almost all entry points but a critical one around the digital readout. Once they fix that it should be a good waterproof product, but stay away until they fix that.

This product had not even gotten very wet and had never been submerged. Yet, the product became waterlogged and quit working for awhile. Now it is working but you can barely see the numbers. I would not recommend this item at all. I have had other scales that work much better than this one albeit for a higher price and they were not advertised as waterproof or floatable.

Bought for kayak fishing knowing it was going to get wet... seemed to hold up the first couple of times I took it out but when I went to use it today after having it for about two weeks there was water behind the screen. I turned it on and seemed to tare okay but was not reading accurately. I pulled pretty hard on the hook and barely got to read two pounds. I restarted it and then the display showed a series of numbers and wouldn’t do anything else, I couldn’t even get it to turn off afterwards. Not very water proof... it seems as other reviewers have waterproof issues as well.

I have an Assassin baitcaster that does nothing but backlash and it backlashed while casting a castable sonar and snapped the 30 lb line, throwing $239 into the water 40 ft away. Collapsible net collapses while trying to land fish, making it useless.

Started tournament fishing and needed a good scale option to cull fish during the tournament. I liked that this scale came with grips that you could hook on the lip of the fish instead of hanging it by the gills. Easy to use, backlit display, and not bulky so it fits neatly onboard my boat!

Tried using the fish gripper on 6 different fish. It only held one fish, the other 5 managed to free themselves while being weighed.. Never had a fish gripper that didn't grip the fish before so that was new for me. I had to use a car key to open up the waterproof battery area and it bent my key trying to open it. Once i replaced the already dead battery the came with it i was able to get it working. Needless to say it is waterproof and it does float, after i threw it in the lake the scale floated and the fish gripper sank the the bottom where it belongs. But configuration is poorly planned out and it only has 2 buttons that you have to hold for certain lengths to get it to work. Terrible designand mine was stuck on kilograms which no one in the U.S.A. has absolutely any use for except drug dealers but they buy better scales.. Don't waste your money

I purchased this scale early Feb. Today (April 24th), when I caught a good one and took out the scale, it could not be turned on...Nothing happened after I pressed power button. Picture me with one hand holding the bass in the water and another hand trying to turn this thing on. I had to let the fish go in the end, and I still could not turn the scale on with numerous attempts. Really frustrating.

This was what I thought would be a good product bought it September 2018 used for a couple months' put it away for the off season in which the battery died. Now with a new battery in it it no longer works. You can't change the weight read out and now it reads everything 500% heavier than it was supposed to (tested with a 5 #weight). this thing is junk checked it’s Accuracy with a 10 pound weight it weighed 10.11 pounds so then I went and tried it with a 10 pound bag of unopened flower it weighed 9.2 pounds. Checked it against a friends scale and it weighed them accurately. I was a KastKing inner circle member but I am no longer going to buy or promote cast king anymore.

I bought this scale because it was supposed to be waterproof. The first time it rained this scale flooded with water. ( it was not submerged) I took it apart and dried it out with a hair dryer. It appears to be working but it is certainly not waterproof. I noticed that some of the screws holding it together had rubber plugs covering them and some did not. Poor quality control.

Really like this scale from KastKing! It is very easy to use, and also comes with a gripper that attaches to the scale. There are no injuries to the fish with this product! Totally environmentally friendly! My favorite part about this scale is that it is not only waterproof, but it completely floats! Being that the scale is bright orange in color, it really stands out when it gets dropped in the lake! Our did fall in the lake. We sent our dog out to retrieve it, and it was still as good as new! Several of my friends have bought the scale, as well, and really like it!
