Over all, this kit has three decent pieces of gear. The big win is, unexpectedly, the gloves. These gloves are knit from some oddly cut resistant yarn. Running a sharp knife across a glove hardly left a mark and I -know- that same slash would have cut a hand deeply. Cool. However, being somewhat loosely knit cloth, these gloves won't save you from a stab.
The knife has a good grip and the blade is flexible, which should be expected of a fillet knife. However, the blade is much longer than needed unless you're filleting a decent sized fish or processing a really big mammal. As for holding an edge - it met expectations while cubing ham as an experiment. Stayed sharp through the task with no noticeable dulling. Just a few minutes of cutting as a test, nothing major.
The sharpener is a variation of the common little plastic dongles with angled rods to drag the knife through. This one is much larger than my others. They all float, but the one in this kit floats very well. However, it's black and will therefor be harder to see as it floats away.

Great knife for cleaning fish. Great filet knife and easily skins fish. I can't speak to longevity but out of the box this is a super knife. The protective sheath snaps close tightly and is easy to releas. The knife sharpener is easy to use. The protective gloves are a nice addition but I don't use gloves when I clean fish. I may try them when I shuck oysters (not with this knife but an oyster knife). I bought this for a bait knife but it is better than my usual filet knife. The ceramic coating seems to hold a sharp edge better. The blade is long and flexible and works with tuna, Mahi and mackerel I catch here in the Lower Keys.

Lightweight, ergonomic grip, nice and sharp and comes with a sharpener and safety gloves. The blade has a bit of flex to it which I like for trimming meats and fish. This will ride in my tackle box for years to come and if I'm any good at catching dinner it will get a lot of use. The price point is spot on and I would recommend for home or use in the field.

Alberto Rico : Not sharp enough. Couldn’t cut the skin of the meat.
Wanted to love this filet knife. Looks like a cheaper version of Bubba knives but it just doesn’t cut. I really like the grip soft silicone feel. It allows you to hold it comfortably and use it in whatever direction it is needed. It brings cutting gloves as well as a plastic sleeve to cover it when not in use. The plastic sheath has a locking tab that keeps it secured in place and prevents it from falling off. It brings a sharpener but didn’t really do much better. I tried to fillet some meat and this knife couldn’t hardly cut off the skin from the meat. Very dull knife. You can see in the pictures how I could pull the meat with the blade and it wouldn’t cut it. I don’t want to see what this will do to a fish if i try to fillet it. I wanted to love it for the size and the fact the blade bends and allows you to angle it when needed but it’s just not a sharp one. Better products out there.
