Panfish Panfish (like bass, crappie and bluegill) will readily hit a Rooster Tail cast when retrieved at the depth they’re holding. If you’re targeting crappie and bluegill on small water bodies a 1/16 or 1/8 ounce spinner is likely the right choice. Colors that match the natural forage, like black, brown, white, green, and yellow are the ones that will likely work best. If the water is stained due to recent rains or light low, brighter colors like fire tiger, chartreuse, bright pink, orange, yellow and those offered with an ultraviolet UV overcoat.	Bass While bass will respond to a variety of lures and bait they love the flash and vibration produced by spinners. Bass will respond to almost any color combination and will often focus on colors that match the natural forage available, like black, brown, white, green, and yellow; or those mimicking minnows, like silver, white, gray, yellow, blue, fire tiger, rainbow or brown trout. Bass will most often be found near shore when the light is low, off points of land extending into the lake, tight to underwater structure or found suspended under overhanging trees, brush or docks. While they will at times only respond to lures matching the size forage they’re feeding on you will likely find the best success using 1/6 and ¼ ounce spinner sizes.	Brown Trout Brown trout come in all sizes and because they feed on a variety of forage, from worms and crayfish to minnows, the colors that often work best include those matching the natural forage like black, brown, white, green, and yellow. If they are feeding on minnows colors like silver, white, gray, yellow, blue, fire tiger, rainbow or brown trout colors might produce best, especially when seeking larger size browns. Brown trout are the most prevalent in larger lakes and reservoirs where casting distance will allow you to cover more water, so 1/6 or ¼ ounce spinner sizes are the most popular. Brown trout tend to be the most active early or late in the day, when it’s raining and water rough.	Trout Rainbow are the trout specie you are most likely to encounter on your fishing adventures, however cutthroat are prevalent on some water bodies and like rainbows can get big. Brook trout generally don’t get as large as the other trout specie but can be very numerous and offer great table fair due to their sweet taste. All respond to the flash, color and vibration produced by spinners. Is any of these good for a small pike

Answer: yes, since they mimic a minnow swimming they are a great pike bait...good fishing

Answer: I think they are made for trout, but I've caught bass with them. I don't see why an aggressive fish like pike wouldn't strike at it.

Answer: and by the way you might want something a bit larger, maybe an eighth to a quarter ounce.

For some reason, Pikes can't resist this model. My aunt and my mom kept catching pikes on this lure compared to a spinner you'd typically get from a bundle. The overall quality of the product is great, the hook's sharp, the tail doesn't come off easily, and it is what it appears on the website.

Overall, it's a great product, I'd get more if it was a little cheaper or had more quantity to it.

C. Alex Hash : My go-to for trout fishing

Purely irresistible to small-stream trout. I've easily caught hundreds of fish on this lure - mostly wild and stocked trout, but also largemouth, smallmouth, pickerel, and many other species. Throw it into the current - keep it low and slow in deeper water, burn it in shallower runs. It has always produced for me. A larger, heavier spinner runs better in big water, and an inline works better in deep plunge pools, but this one is all that I need in 90% of the streams I fish. I hope they re-continue this 3-pack, as it was easily the most cost-effective option for the color that I prefer.

Coast Ranger : You Gotta Have It On The Clarion River

I began fishing the Clarion River in Clarion, PA with friends about 10 years ago. Some of these guys have been fishing it for 50 years or more. You have to have the 1/8 oz. Gray Minnow. Period. The Walmart in Clarion sells out of anything white as soon as they come in. The two sporting goods places in town immediately sell out. Why these places don't order them by the tractor trailer is beyond me. After losing 4 this year and having none, I'd have paid twice the price for several lures. Thanks Jimmy & Doug for helping me out - care packages are on the way. So, yes, I'm the guy that keeps buying them when they're available.

BTW. I caught the biggest bluegill in my life near Mullins, SC using the same lure. Not because I'm some kind of fishing genius. But because it was still on my rod when I picked it up. "I wonder what this will do." BAM! A pound and a half of bream on ultra light gear is all sorts of fun.

Caught catfish, bass, blue gill, and crappie using this lure and 8lb mono line. I will always have this lure on hand. 1/16 size. Also have used it for trout in the past. For trout I'm usually in rushing water where I go so it can affect the function of the lure. But it does work for trout also.

Probably not a fisherman in the USA who has not caught fish on these. I remember an article by a pro years ago, his tip with spinners was use Gold Blades on cloudy days, Silver Blades on sunny days, has worked for me over the years.
