Product Description
AUTOMATIC VACUUM AIR SEALING SYSTEM
NutriChef’s Vacuum Sealer preserves freshness on your food as it reduces air and limiting bacterial growth on your food. That would cause your vegetables, meats and liquids to spoil so easily. Simply assemble several sandwiches at once, and then seal them in individual bags and freeze them.
Sealing your food blocks growth of mold, fungus and bacteria that are responsible for ruining the taste, appearance and texture. It also creates an extra space in your fridge with the airtight bag packaging. And just heat one up in the microwave for a speedy and delicious breakfast.
PERFECT FOR FOOD PRESERVATION
Now you can safeguard your food from spoilage and save a substantial amount of money when buying food in bulk by properly storing it. NutriChef’s Vacuum Sealer can also be used for marinating meat or other different food items for ready-made meals.
It’s also lightweight and compact which can be placed on any kitchen counter top with stain-resistant housing that will not absorb any accidental spills. Save time by simply speeding things up on preparing your breakfast sandwiches.
NutriChef’s Vacuum Sealer Air System offers you a quick, easy and inexpensive way of preserving your food. Using its one touch operation simply select whether you’re sealing a dry or with moisture food.
To ensure your food is safe from bacteria you must clean it periodically. It is recommended that you clean your vacuum sealer after use because bacteria can build up easily. With proper care, it will provide you a long time of service.
The automatic one touch operation and indicator light of NutriChef’s Vacuum Sealer provides a user-friendly experience for its operator. It is made of safe and durable material which extends the shelf life of your food.

Questions about NutriChef PKVS Vacuum_Sealer_Machine, 12", Silver
Q:
This item can vacuum soup based food?
Answer: A really handy way to vacuum seal soupy stuff is put it in a low wide container not bigger than sealer bags. Freeze, pop out, put the frozen chunk of frozen liquid into the vacuum bag and seal. No mess, works like a charm! Cheers ☺
Answer: Can you use food saver rolls on this machine
Answer: Any moisture at all prevents evacuation and sealing.
Answer: Yes all sealers can
Q:
which vacuum sealer recommend to buy, this one or foodsaver?
Answer: Not sure about this one, but I spent $189 on the Food Saver one and it sealed exactly 7 bags and broke. Returned it and got a replacement thinking it was just a dud and the replacement broke before fully sealing a single bag. I’d say give this one a try but buy the warranty if they’re selling one.
Answer: I have had 2 of this exact model. Never tried a different brand until both of these would stop sealing after a year. I had to pay shipping both ways for warranty replacement. I purchased the Enzoo brand sealer, it's way better. More quiet, faster, lasting longer. Can store bags inside the unit. Waaaaay better
Answer: I have bought this NutriChef machine, it's working and useful! And I have bought another one for my parents. Toprime vacuum sealer(VS6620). it's a compact one and high cost-effective. Both are good products!!!
Answer: We’ve had both and would buy the NutriChef again. We’ve had our NutriChef for almost a year and use it several times a week. We have a galley kitchen and the NutriChef takes much less counter space than Food Saver. The NutriChef works well with the Food Saver bags. Since the NutriChef’s cost is a fraction of the Food Saver’s, and it works just as well, we’d buy another NutriChef in a heartbeat.
Answer: I have a stash of foodsaver bags from my foodsaver machine that brokedown after a long time of use. My question is can the foodsaver bags be used with this Nutri Chef sealer? is the nutrichef bag compatible with the foodsaver bag?
Answer: bought mine in July of 2018 its now useless. This my first one now I know what to look for an this is not the one, it has stopped vacuuming an wont seal, warranty not good!
Answer: It works but not as well as my prior Foodsaver.
Answer: No do not buy it broke in 3 months after using about 5 times.
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: I've had both.... Foods aver was manual and began to stop sealing after a year or so. This Nutri Chef is working great and seals quickly.
Q:
Does this sealer allow you to create your own bags?
Answer: I had purchased the large roll and with that I made the bags any size I wanted. I also sealed a zip lock bag and it worked.
Answer: Yes, just seal the end and you have a bag.
Answer: yes
Q:
Can anyone explain the disclaimer about the cancer and birth defect materials?
Answer: Some states have rigid laws regarding disclaimers. In California we have ridden on elevators that say some materials on the elevator car may have been in contact with or contain materials that are known to cause cancer. I always think I won’t eat the carpet so I’m ok.
Answer: Everything here in California causes cancer. As long as you don't buy it here, you'll be fine; however, if you bring it here and take it back to your state, it'll have cancer in it. You've been warned.
Answer: As the other answer mentioned states like California (prop 65) have laws that require this warning. Although I do not know the exact reason(s) this item has the warning many times it is the ink on the box, plastic wrappers, etc. Unless you were planning on eating the packaging you should be fine in most cases.
Q:
Just received and have 1 concern and one question. Concern is that when the top is open if accidentally touch vac/seal, machine starts operating.
Answer: The unit's vac will start operating and try to pull a vacuum until it reaches the expected force required tell it that is has achieved the target. since you have it sucking open air it will either suck until it times out and determines there is an error or you hit stop. the seal bar should never heat as it did not achieve the target. Also the seal bar will likely never heat when its open due to the wine cork attachment.
Answer: Don't have this product, but that would seem to be a normal function. The vacuum hose accessory should attach to the hole on the inside of the machine. Hence, necessity for operation even with the lid open.
Answer: When it is open the button is on the outside so it would be hard to accidentally press it. But it’s not impossible.
Answer: I don't know about that. But, as a long term review, we are getting less enchanted with it. It sometimes doesn't seem to seal completely.
Q:
What type of bags can be used with this sealer?
Answer: It does NOT seal ziploc bags. These people are lying
Answer: I have used all kinds of baddies from Kmart to Walmart to amazon and they have all worked! Hope that helps!
Q:
I bought this Vacuum Sealer, it is awesome, but unfortunately my sous vide was broken.Do you have any recommendations for buying it?
Answer: If you are asking for a recommendation on a Sous vide device, I'm happy with this one (https://www.amazon.com/Anova-Culinary-Precision-Adjustment-Circulator/dp/B00UKPBXM4/ref=sr_1_1) also I bought this cooler,(https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004L4QA8M/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00) and drilled a 2 1/2 hole in the top as a container for cooking.
Answer: Do NOT buy this sealer. I have had it for 2 months and the rubber has fallen off; so now it is useless. I bought extra wrap and everything. Now I am screwed out of our money on it all. It had 1 month to send it back only.
Answer: I think my sous vide is very durable, I've been using it for a year, it still works well, maybe you can choose it, the products brand is Yocool. The link is: http://a.co/4pSGqCU
Answer: I just registered my sealer. It says it has a one year warranty. I experienced great customer service with this company when I had a question as to the operation.
Answer: I have had mine a little over a month and haven’t had any problems with it. I have probably used it 30 to 40 times and I really like it.
Answer: If you call Anova Customer Service (if it’s Anova), they are super helpful. Mine broke after the year but I called anyway and they sent me another one. No charge. Also sent a return label for free postage back. I got the new one the day after I sent the broken one back. Love those folks!
Q:
Does it cut bags or do you have to do it yourself, as it states it comes with a roll of storage rolls?
Answer: It comes with a few precut & sealed bags, but the roll you need to cut yourself. I find it's less wasteful since you can cut down to the size you need.
Answer: You have to cut the bags.
Answer: No it does NOT cut the bags
Answer: You have to cut them yourself
Answer: Yes, its has a built in cutter on the top of the unit.
Q:
Does this require 2 handed operation?
Answer: It requires two hands. Even with two hands I struggle if trying to seal sloppy foods because it is so easy to accidentally hit the buttons before the sealer is done. Also their are latches on both sides that have to be released.
Answer: It’s more easy with 2 hands because you must close 2 buttons at the same time but it’s possible to close this product one button per one button. I hope to have respond at your question.
Answer: It helps to align the bags and snap the lid closed if you use two hands. You have to press the the lid down with just a little force.
Answer: No, I use this 1 handed all the time when my other hand is messy. It really is not difficult
Q:
I purchased this item on february 19, 2018. it is march 19, 2018, and my attachment hose is broken already. how can i get another hose?
Answer: This is a universal one and works great.
Answer: Sorry. Call Tech Support Hotline 718-535-1800
Answer: This is the same issue I had with the FoodSaver. Hopefully customer service for this product is more accomodating. FoodSaver wouldn't do anything about the three that I went through in just over a year.
Answer: Call the 800 # in your booklet.
Q:
What is the widest bag you can use?
Answer: The widest I've used is 11 inches. The specs says the sealer is 14 inches wide. I would image 12 or 13 inches would be the widest that could be used.
Answer: 11 inches
Q:
What is the input voltage? 110 / 220 VAC?
Answer: 120 volts, the nominal voltage in the USA is 120 volts not 110.
Answer: 110 VAC
Q:
can i use it to seal bags without the vacuum function?
Answer: Yes. Use the seal only button. Unlike our previous Food Saver vacuum sealer, the seal only function is very quiet. So if you dont think it’s doing anything, it is. Enjoy.
Answer: Yes. It has a separate button for seal and then a vac/seal.
Answer: Yes, it has a seal only button.
Q:
How long does a vacuum seal take?
Answer: Not very long. Just a few seconds.
Answer: It doesn’t seal.
Answer: Less than 30 seconds.
Q:
What bags can be used with this vacuum sealer?
Answer: It comes with 5 Medium bags (7.8"x11.8") and 1 extra long bag roll (7.8" x 79.0") that you can cut to size. I preferred the one you cut to size and since have ordered 2 more rolls. Recently went fishing in Canada and vacuum packed all the Walleye we brought back. PERFECT!
Answer: I bought the generic rolls 11" by 50' two roll pack at Amazon they are great and a savings. I make bags to suit the sizes I need.
Answer: I used some of the bags that came with the sealer and also used some generic bags I bought on a roll at Sam's Club. So I believe any brand would work as they all seal the same with heat.
Q:
What is the Country of origin?
Answer: It is designed in Wisconsin by Presto Industries Engineers and made in China. HOWEVER, do not let the "Made in China" stigma affect your decision. I have used this product several times, and I have not had a single problem. I highly recommend this product to anyone.
Answer: Doesn’t matter. The vacuum pump on mine broke after sealing four or five bags.
Answer: China
Q:
Can you seal liquids? Like marinades?
Answer: If you're planning on freezing after sealing, then freeze it first in a zipper bag, then take your solid marinade and vacuum seal it and toss it back in the freezer. If you're planning on storing it as liquid, you can run the vacuum manually and shut it off before too much liquid gets sucked in, but you may not get all the air out.
Answer: You have to freeze it first and then seal it. I used my sealer for the first time and was trying to seal berries that were in the fridge and it sucked the fluid into the sealer. It didn’t break the machine but, the bag didn’t seal. It needs to be dry or just a bit moist food. I put the berries in the freezer for a day, took them out and then sealed them. Worked great
Answer: I haven’t tried that yet. The book says you can freeze milk so I would think so. Call the 800 number. ????
Answer: I haven’t done it but I believe you can
Q:
can you boil water in bag
Answer: You can put bag in boiling water. You would have to boil water to boil water in bag.
Q:
Does this have separate vacuum and seal functions? Or it it just a single vacuum/seal button?
Answer: The vacuum and the sealer are separate; you can vacuum without sealing and can seal without vacuuming. There is also a separate small hose apparatus for vacuuming jars, however I'm not sure how it works.
Answer: You can't just vacuum, you can just seal, or you can seal and vacuum at the same time. I've found this a problem if you have moist ingredients because it sucks the wet ingredients out and that makes it too moist to seal.
Answer: It has separate buttons so you can just seal or do both. Works great on the roll this way. I wasn't sure myself when purchased but now that I have it, I know it. You will like it easy to use.
Answer: It has extra attachments for vacuum. I just got it And haven't tried that yet.
Answer: Separate functions
Q:
can this seal a larger bag, 11" wide
Answer: Yes it will seal 11" wide bags or roll stock.
Answer: The largest bag roll I have is 11" and that is end to end. So I would not think so.
Q:
I recently bought this and it doesn't seal. It literally worked 1 time now won't seal at all. Has anyone else had this issue?
Answer: We had a problem at first too. Make sure the part you are sealing is completely flat, no wrinkles, put the bag in far enough (not just at the edge) MAKE SURE YOU HEAR THE 2 CLICKS when you close the lid. Press the vacuum button and when that goes off, hit the seal button. Our problem was, listening for the TWO clicks when you close the lid. We wasted some bags at first, but now we love it. I swear the man in this house, keeps buying meat, just so he can play with the thing. Good luck
Answer: I found it necessary to wait a second or two AFTER the indicator light that says Seal has turned off. When I was taking it out as soon as all the operating noise stopped, I often got a partial seal and sometimes, no seal.
Answer: So apparently you have to wait 40 seconds between seals. It was frustrating to figure that out.
Answer: No but I had one bag wrinkle while closing and that caused it I flattened it and worked after
Q:
When we vacuum seal meat w/ marinade the vacuum sucks liquid out and doesn't seal all the way. Is there a fix to this?
Answer: You can freeze seal meat in a freezer first, then put in vacuum bag. But aren't seals always caught in freezing weather?
Answer: You can either freeze it for about 30 minutes or place a few paper towels in between the meat and the sealing end. Both work well
Answer: Im having this problem too and want an idea. I'm trying to seal pieces of a spiral ham which has a lot of liquid that pulls out and it vacuums fine then the seal doesn't work. I'm thinking it's all that water getting into the seal.
Answer: I couldn’t tell you for sure but I have noticed there is a small amount of moisture still left in the bag when sealed
Answer: You can freeze the wet stuff then seal it.
Answer: are you using the wet setting?
Q:
What is the difference between the models pkvs18bk and pkvs25bk?
Answer: PKVS25Bk is a upgraded sealer that can be used with 60 Consecutive Seals, it also has a built in cutter to cut the rolls to the bag size that you want
Q:
I want to vacuum seal fresh apples. Should I choose dry or moist option ?
Answer: Dry
Q:
Funciona a 220v?
Answer: No
Q:
the product i bought was no good
Answer: My husband also first thought ours was no good because the lid would not lock down and he was going to return it. I searched through these questions and found helpful answers on how to get the lid to lock down, but my husband still couldn’t get it. I walked over to the machine and pressed down hard on one end until it clicked then pressed down on the other side until it clicked. Done. My husband couldn’t believe it and asked what I did. Seriously. I told him to press down very firmly on each end. Lol. It works great.
Answer: I understand your frustration. I too had problems until I watched a video on how to work it. Once I got the hang of it I spent the day sealing everything in my freezor. It is tricky to get it to seal properly.
Answer: Did you ask for a replacement? I got mine and used 2 days later worked great with no problems except it took a bit of pushing to lock it. After figuring it out it's easy now.
Answer: It works but it is not user friendly and I have wasted bags before I got it right.
Q:
Will this seal mylar bags?
Answer: So far so good. All these sealer machines are not like the ones they made 20 years ago, all are made cheap! Hopefully this NutriChef will last half as long as my last food sealer, "Food Saver".
Q:
Are the included bags BPA free?
Answer: Yes
Q:
Can you use this product to seal mason jars for canning?
Answer: Please be aware that this unit just pulls a vacuum, removing air/oxygen from the container and does not CAN anything. Canning is a form of food preservation and requires either a water bath or pressure canner to properly sterilize the food. You can seal jars of nuts, grains, flour, candy, snacks, dry pasta, dry beans, dry seeds, dry herbs, dry spices, dry bread crumbs, trail mix, etc.. Do not us this in an attempt to preserve perishable items like raw/cooked/smoked meats or fish, fresh or cooked vegetables, stews, soups, cakes, pies, fresh pasta, breads, etc.. These will spoil.
Answer: YES, there is an attachment for jars. This is a great unit
Answer: Yes, however you will need an attachment for jars
Answer: Yes, I’ve never done it but you are able to do so.
Q:
I bought this vacuuum sealer last christmas. It worker great for about 6 months. Not if runs and runs but never evacuates the bag and seals. Why?
Answer: Hi, our sincere apologies. Please check if the bag that you use is properly attached to the unit. You may also use a different mode that fits the food that you're using. If the troubleshooting didn't work kindly call our Technical Support Department at 718 535 1800 Press 2 then 1 from Monday to Friday 9 AM to 5 PM EST. Thank you.
Answer: I had a couple issues with this. I found that the opening of the bag has to be in the exact position in the unit. Also its important that the bag be cut straight across if you are using bag rolls.
Q:
Would this work with shrink wrap? Would this work for sealing soap?
Answer: Shrink Wrap? No idea Yes, you can seal soap with materials provides.
Answer: I do not believe it works with shrink wrap, however it would work with soap using the vacuum bags.
Answer: Hi, it will work in all vacuum bags. For more info, kindly visit our website pyleaudio.com. Type the model number on the search box PKVS18SL. Thank you.
Answer: I would assume so, but I don't know for sure.
Q:
my brand new nutrichef machine will vacuum, but never seals. Won't stop vacuuming. I tried several different bags, and the food was dry. Answers?
Answer: Make sure you don’t have the bag in to far.
Answer: You need to close it properly. Put plenty of pressure on the sides of the machine while closing it until it clicks from both edgest and you feel the lid fall in place as well as feel the buttons on the edges get stiff. It is very stiff, you really need to apply force on the lid when you close it!
Answer: Mine did this a few times in the beginning. One side of the machine wasn't closing all the way. Had at to really push it to get it to click and lock. Make sure the bag is in the gap and not to far up, and the valve isnt covered by the bag.
Answer: my machine will not seal after vaccum..
Answer: Hi. I'm not sure if this will help but the trick is to make sure the to side clips click in place. They take a little bit of persuasion. Once they are in you should have some great suction power.
Answer: Hi
Q:
Is this machine UL/Csa listed?
Answer: We couldn't find anything like that on it anywhere, not in the paperwork either. Made in China.
Q:
Hola cómo hago para enviar el producto a la garantía? Gracias!!

Q:
I've had the product for two months, lately it defaults to 'seal' function when closing lid. Any ideas how to keep from happening? A reset I can do?
Answer: not know
Q:
I have only been using this for one month, but the heat sealing element no longer works. Is there a way to fix it?
Answer: same here - heat sealing element no longer works only after a few uses now. not sure it is worth trying to repair.
Answer: My heat element works fine, however if it is frozen or to wet and close to element you have to seal twice with out opening top
Answer: I really don't know.I would call the mfg.I used mine a few times and not crazy aboutit.I want indvigable bags, not a roll you have to make your own.Next time I will buy a better one.I've only have had mine a few months also.Make sure both sides are locked down. You should hear them snap on each side.
Answer: Not that I know of. I’ve had mine for over a year but use it sporadically. Once it stops sealing though I think it’s time for a new one
Answer: I have had mine for less than one month and have not encountered this problem, so I cannot help you with this issue. Sorry.
Q:
Do mylar bags work with this machine
Q:
what is maximun bag size width this can seal?
Answer: Hi, you may use a Medium Vacuum Bags (7.8’’ x 11.8’’) and Long Vacuum Bag Roll (7.8’’ x 79.0’’) - inches. Thank you.
Answer: I only used up to quart size but you can probably do up to a 12" width. I actually just bought another system because I had a horrible time with this one. It would seal maybe two or three bags then it would be a major battle to do more.
Q:
Can i get my money back
Answer: Follow Refund Policy which is usually posted at top of listing. It's probably returnable within 30 days.
Q:
will it work with 220 voltage?
Q:
Does it have a removeable drip tray?
Q:
I have only used the product once. it now won’t turn on at all when i plug it i any ideas before i return this? yes the outlet has power.
Answer: With the problem you are having, and the one I had, makes it clear that it is just a defective product. Your best option is to send it back.
Answer: It doesn't work. Used it once and it is broken. Very unhappy.
Answer: You might try getting ahold of the company, and they may have an idea. I dont know anything else to help you. Good luck
Answer: Please contact us at support3@nutrichefkitchen.com and we can send you a free replacement
Q:
Does this device cut the bag off of the roll after sealing?
Answer: No it does not. If using a roll, you need to manually cut the size of the bag you need, and seal one side first before continuing.
Answer: no. you have to cut your bags to size prior to sealing.
Answer: No it doesn’t cut. We have a paper cutter. We measure approximately 2” longer than the item being sealed. Then seal one end at about half inch from the edge.
Answer: No it does not
Answer: no.
Q:
Is this a channel-type sealer?
Answer: Hi, yes it is a channel type sealer. You may check other details of the unit by visiting our website pyleaudio.com. Type the model number on the search box PKVS18SL for more details. Thank you.
Answer: If you mean does the bag have to set in a channel, then yes. There was a definite learning curve for me because the bag has to be placed perfectly in the channel to properly vacuum. Took several tries to get the hang of it and still I can have issues.
Answer: my sealer was defective & I did not return in time , so my sealer doesn't seal at all
Answer: Yes it is. But it also comes with a wine stopper cork and air suction tube.
Answer: Yes it is.
Q:
what's the kpa on this machine?
Answer: Don't know what that means. Sorry
Q:
Are the bags that it comes with bpa free?
Q:
Does this unit have a removable drip tray?
Answer: Hi, it doesn't have a removable drip tray. You may check other details of the unit by visiting our website pyleaudio.com. Type the model number on the search box PKVS18SL for more details. Thank you.
Answer: It does not.
Answer: No
Answer: I DON'T KNOW I SEND IT BACK BECAUSE IT SEAL BUT DON'T VACUUM????
Answer: Yes and it works fine...
Q:
are the Wevac bags recyclable?
Answer: I don’t actually sell the bags Im selling only the product.
Answer: I but them in my recycle bin. ! ! ? ? ?
Answer: I used to be a recycling program manager and i would say no.
Answer: Kindly send us a message at support@pyleusa.com so we can help you out with your question.
Q:
Are there any sort of Tupperware containers that can be vacuum sealed with this unit?
Answer: There is a hose used for jars. There are no instructions for using "tupperware". But tupperware might make containers that can be used with the jar attachment?
Q:
Would this machine work for me to vacuum seal shelf-stable food in some sort of vacuum zipper bag? What type of zipper bag would I get to do this?
Answer: It depends on what shelf stable food. Dont know of any vacuum zipper bags, just regular zip top plastic bags. We use a heavier plastic vacuum sealer bags/roll. When we first received our vacuum sealer, we put a cup full of dog biscuits in a bag to test it out. Vacuumed sealed really great and tight. We thought about the extra box of dog biscuits in the pantry and wondered if they wouldn’t be better off vacuumed sealed because the box itself isn’t sealed as well. Anyway, you could seal pasta noodles, beans, rice, etc if you want to make sure they are fresh. Enjoy.
Answer: I would avoid this sealer. Horrible quality. As far as bags, recommend a vacuum bag. Could use zipper-style bags with the hose attachment but don’t think it would work as well.
Answer: If you have a zipper bag, why would you need a sealer? This works best with bags a bit heavier that can endure the stress of the vacuum process.
Product reviews of NutriChef PKVS Vacuum_Sealer_Machine, 12", Silver
Carlette C. : Initially I didn't like the machine because it left a lot of air ...
Initially I didn't like the machine because it left a lot of air in the first few seals. After reviewing, and locating a video on YouTube, I noticed I was putting the bag too far in the machine and therefore covering the vacuum hole. After figuring this out, life became MUCH easier. I haven't had a chance to use the vacuum hose but currently, it is doing the job I purchased it for...sealing and preserving my food! Since I am now an avid air fryer user, this is a MUST HAVE!
customer aa : it is worth every penny, i went with generic brand bags
i am obsessed with cooking and everything related to cooking, and prone to buying the high end of everything in the kitchen. i could not justify the $150 price tag on other more well-known brands, so i was considering buying a vacuum chamber. then i saw this one and the review, decided to give it a try for less than one tenth of the price of a decent vacuum chamber sealer. I have packed two deer and it is worth every penny! I am glad I did try it. I have also bought generic brand bags at a much reasonable price than the brand name, and they have worked pretty well:
B and B : For the price it’s pretty good. I got it after my Foodsaver died ...
For the price it’s pretty good. I got it after my Foodsaver died on me after about a year and a half. It doesn’t work well with the textured foodsaver bags, as it doesn’t seem to have the heat to seal them properly. It can barely seal the Nutrichef brand bags. What I do is seal on nothing to warm the element up, then put in my bag, seal it, and then let it sit a bit after the light goes off. This gets a better seal.
It seems to do really well with moist foods, not letting juice suck up into the machine much, if at all. My old foodsaver would suck disgusting amounts of meat juice into it, but not the nutrichef.
It does feel a little chintzy the way it closes, and I suspect the plastic catches and releases will break eventually. But again, for the price it’s pretty hard to beat.
James NYC : They won my business from "FoodSaver".. this thing is a tank, and it looks like a Maserati
I've had 2 FoodSavers FM2000 and the 4800 series. Neither of devices broke or anything. I would end up relocating or getting a new apartment, and simply leave the device with an old roommate. Its Manhattan, when you move, either take as little as you can or take everything. The Foodsaver series Vaccuum sealer was not on the list of things to keep. It was on the list of things to "order again off amazon" when you get settled.
Now in a new place, looking for the same device because i took the bag rolls (so expensive). Why i thought to leave the machine but take the bags is beyond me... 3 months later i'm looking on amazon and see the NutriChef.
things have changed, i'm running a small business (a gourmet coffee company online) i'm not just using this for my own food.. now i'm really comparing products. for at least 3 hours at work.. i'm reading each of the reviews of both systems the FoodSaver vs the NutriChef.
Based on what i read, NutriChef wins hands down. So I ordered.
Within the first few hours of Vacuum sealing 70lbs of coffee i noticed the difference not only in the machine quality but also the bags. the coffee beans cut through the bag and allowed air in, the ones that came with the NutriChef didn't.
The FoodSaver seemed to quit the vacuum process whenever it wanted, and would begin sealing afterwards. The NutriChef somehow seems to perfectly measure and adapt its own timing, then slowly begin sealing WHILE its still Vacuuming. which ensures a good seal.
now i'm starring at 70lbs of coffee beans and smiling.
I cant imagine how good this thing would work for regular steaks and stuff, i put 3 hours into the machine right out of the box, and its still staring at me like "is that all you have?" if you don't believe this story, look at the pictures or look up "Empowered cup Coffee Co", we are very happy
Diane from the Bay Area : Loved it--until it stopped working
This is my second food sealer. I wish I still had the first one. Here are my thoughts about what I thought was an upgrade in design and function:
PRO: It is sleek, good-looking and takes up very little counter space. CON: Because it takes up so little space, I can no longer store a roll of bag material in it. Now I have to drape the roll over the outside of the machine and hold onto it while cutting, instead of pulling out a length from the storage area. Several of my bags were cut awkwardly on the new machine.
CON: I can't leave this unit plugged in. It is ridiculously sensitive and would start the running the vacuum/sealing function if I put something down on the counter in front of it.
PRO: When it worked, it worked beautifully. It is noisy, but much quieter than my old food sealer.
PRO: (I thought!) It toggles between dry and moist settings. Sealing bags of meat was always a challenge with my old sealer. I had to watch carefully to prevent juices from seeping into the machine and ruining it. I actually had to wrap meat in plastic wrap before bagging it and sealing it. CON: I used the moist setting for the first time yesterday, after six months of ownership. Guess what? Juices from the ground beef seeped into the unit and ruined it.
I have owned this unit just over six months and probably got ten or so uses out of it. I will not buy from this brand again.
tiedyed69peace : Great Sealer for Any Budget
I have no basis for comparison, but I received my vacuum sealer today and am more than impressed. I had a bunch of venison slim Jim's and jerky to seal and freeze and used up all the included bags and rolled plastic. The process is easy and fast, and it is very obvious if the seal hadn't formed. You need to give the sealer 40 seconds in between seals, which isn't an issue considering you have to load the bags. I wanted a sealer primarily for cooking sous vide, and I didn't want to spend a ton or waste a ton of space on a giant one. This little guy is great. It reminds me of the size of the shredder part of a paper shredder. Easy to carry up from the basement storage and easy to set up. I'm not sure why anyone would pay any more for a sealer than this? This does everything I need it to do.
Roger L. : It broke after a month.
It works perfectly. In just a few weeks it has already paid for itself. I'm happy I bought this, great product.
Edit: I was happy with this at first. But after a month, less the 2, it started not working half the time. I emailed the seller and was given a reply to contact the manufacturer for my 1 year warranty. Contacted them and was told I needed to pay $15 flat rate shipping to have it sent back. So I'd have to pay for a box and to ship it to them, and $15 to get it back. All for a $60 machine. Plus they weren't even the manufacturer, just authorized repair center. No thanks. Im incredibly unhappy and won't purchase from either this seller or whoever actually makes this machine. I'm on a fixed income and can't afford to keep buying this machine.
connosieur : It's just OK. But a good value
I bought this a little less than two months ago and have had a chance to use it a few times. Here are some initial thoughts: 1) The product generally works fine, with the caveats below: 2) Construction is adequate but seems a bit flimsy. To seal the lid you insert the bag and press down on the lid until the two latches on the side engage. Sometimes it's easy to miss the fact that one of the latches hasn't engaged. 3) It seems to struggle a bit with moist foods. Even though it has a "moist" setting sometimes the vacuum sucks the moisture out of the bag which prevents the bag from sealing. I recommend patting any moist food dry with a paper towel. 4) The machine will accommodate bags with an opening of up to approx. 12 inches. It works fine on these larger bags. However when I tried using a bag with an approx. 4" opening, it wouldn't seal. 5) The registration process was irritating. They offer to extend the warranty and send some free bags if you register within a relatively short time, I think 10 days or so. However, as far as I could tell, you can't register without leaving a review. Since I had just received the product I hadn't had a chance to use it yet so it was difficult to leave a thoughtful review. However the clock was ticking on the registration period. So I left a 3 star rating along with the comment that I hadn't had a chance to use it yet so didn't really have an opinion. I got an email from the manufacturer expressing their concern over the rating. I have no idea whether my warranty was extended and I never received the bags. 6) However, this product is a bargain compared to the 3 FoodSavers I previously owned, all of which died within 2-3 years after only light use. So on a value basis, I would probably give it 4 stars.
Ian : Idk... maybe I'm still doing it wrong but I've been having problems.
I may need to update this review later if the problems I've been having are user error and not with the product, but I've been having an extremely difficult time getting this machine to consistently work for me. At least 1/2 items I try to vac seal either don't vac seal correctly and I'm forced to try again... and again. Biggest troubles I've been having:
1) Using the moist setting, I try to vac seal chicken, or kidney beans from a can, or diced tomatoes, and the machine sucks the moisture up causing the area where it should seal to become wet and therefore not seal. So when I press the vac & seal button, it doesn’t suck out air and never shuts off (I end up having to shut it off manually before it ever gets to seal... I've allowed it to continue for up to 5 minutes before and it seems like it would just keep running forever but without doing anything if I didn't hit stop).
2) Seems to have vac sealed but then fills back up with air shortly after.
Note: I have been making sure I hear 2 clicks when locking the top down before starting the machine. I've also been very careful to make sure the bag is placed correctly.
Saoirse : One of the best purchases I’ve made!
I just received the NutriChef today and couldn’t wait to try it. This little machine is amazing, and I feel like I hit the lottery. It’s so easy to use! Some reviews say that it takes a bit of time to figure it out, but for me, at least, it was a true no brainer (no offence). I just just wanted to try it out, so I vacuum sealed celery, leeks, cherry tomatoes, a large tomato I merely cut in half, two 1/2 “ ham slices (in one bag), and a ham hock. Easy, fast, and yeah, kind of fun. The buttons are self explanatory. I posted pictures of the little tag that was on the sealer packing. This is all I used to figure out how to operate the sealer function. The reviews explained how to seal really liquid items, so I’ll be using that hint to seal fresh chopped tomatoes. BTW. I’m 71 years old, so if I can figure it out, anyone should be able to. Go for it!
Mark in Santa Monica : Probably the best choice for vacuum sealers.
I hunted for a while to find a reasonably priced tool for this job. Compared to the others I have seen, the Nutrichef is:
• Small (about the size of a dozen eggs) • Lightweight • Straightforward • Inexpensive • Economical (uses generic bag material)
In the 48 hours I've owned it. I've packaged up perhaps a dozen food items. The seals all appear to be holding. I purchased bag material in bulk from Amazon for about 16c/foot (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01NCZMQUU/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_1), which means the bags cost 10c or so. This is less than a third of the price of FoodSaver bags, and one-fifth of the price of the Waring bags.
The only things that kept me from a FIVE star rating are:
1. It can be tricky to get the bags in the right position. If you do not, they will not seal properly. I attached a photo showing a setup that works for me. The end of the bag must be about halfway in to the "Vacuum Chamber".
2. The instructions are not clear, perhaps because they weren't written by an English speaker. Some drawings to show where to place the bags would have been very helpful.
3. Once closed and sealed, the bags can take up a lot of space in the freezer, because at least 1-1/2" of extra material is needed at the closure end, making them bulky.
4. Making each bag by sealing each end takes close to two minutes, so the process can get slow. It would be very simple to design a unit that aligns the bag material properly and semi-automatically, which would make the whole process much faster (Nutirchef: Are you listening? I can help you with this).
Time will tell about how well these work at food preservation, and how long the unit lasts. I will post an update later.
======== UPDATED 3/28/18 ==========
I do write a lot of reviews, but they usually are very sober. However, this item is terrific.
I am single, and I often have trouble buying things in reasonable sizes, so I buy extra, and freeze it. I figured that the NutriChef would reduce freezer burn and keep things longer. It does, but...
Since buying the sealer, I have found a lot of extra uses. Sous vide cooking is incredibly good. Simply take a skinless chicken breast, heat it, in the bag, to 160° for 40 minutes or so, and you produce the juiciest ever meat for things like chicken salad. Salmon burgers are very delicate objects, yet I found that I could vacuum seal them without excessively flattening them. Again, sous vide to the desired temperature, then an fry at high heat to sear. I freeze them, also, and can transport them to my girlfriend's house (she loves them...)
Butchers dry age meat at about 35° for weeks. Mine literally raises the price 3-fold for the aging. Do this in your fridge, and you are likely to simply have spoiled meat. However, in a vacuum-sealed bag, you can enjoy the benefits of aging without the fear of spoilage.
Tonight, I made up a nice 2 pound batch of mashed gingered carrots, and a large quantity of caramelized onions. These jobs take a long time to cook. Even though both of them had a lot of residual liquid, the NutriChef sealed them right up, allowing me to prepare serving sized bags for the next time. FYI: the pureed carrots can be reconstituted with water and pureed into a delicious soup.
I'm really surprised how much I like this thing. I raised my rating from four stars to five.
rsheldiii : so during normal handling of the device you can easily set them off 3
There's common knowledge in the sous vide community that until you're ready for a chamber vacuum sealer, you should just get the cheapest regular vacuum sealer you can find. I decided to buck this trend given the stellar reviews on this model, which I later realized were because the seller gives out free goodies if you leave a review.
Let's go through the pros and cons shall we?
Pros:
1. nothing
Cons:
1. The overflow trough cannot be removed. It is also extremely shallow. It is also, get this, situated at an angle. These features combined means the trough designed to catch overflowing fluids spills after maybe a tablespoon of liquid. 2. The buttons are not buttons, they are capacitative sensors. They have no feedback and will activate with the slightest touch, so during normal handling of the device you can easily set them off 3. The various modes do almost nothing 4. The included accessory attachment is extremely short and does not fit foodsaver attachments, not that I expected it to. It can be shimmed with a bit of tape, however.
Seriously, just buy a save-a-meal or a foodsaver, don't waste your money on this garbage. Now, where's my free goodie bag
Paula Ali : *****Update***** Unreliable Product and Horrible Customer Service!
*****Update***** I am changing my rating for this product to one star. Unreliable product and horrible customer service! In the beginning it worked fine, but a month later it stopped vacuuming. The product is still under Warranty.
My husband tried to contact their customer service and the recording said he was number 5 in line and then number 4 in line a few times, then it jumped to he was number 2 in line a couple of times or so, then he was no 1 in line and got disconnected around 15 minute mark. So after a while he called again and surprise, surprise...it was an identical recording and his place in queue happened to be 5, then 4 a few times the 2 again for a coupe of iterations, finally made it to number 1 and at 15 minute mark got disconnected again. He tried one more time and the same thing happened. Started at number 5 went down to 1 in the same sequence as the previous two times and he got disconnected around 15 minute mark.
I sent them an email and got a canned response that “you’re requesting has been received and being reviewed by our support staff”. Since then they haven’t taken any action. Sent them three additional emails and haven’t gotten response to any of them.
Old review: I was very please with it. Very easy to use.
Kevin Connors : We do not like this product
We just received it and tried to seal cured meat thin slices and it sealed once out of 10 attempts. We do not like this product. We want to return it for a full refund. The one attempt that it did seal was only about 95% and was still slightly loose.
Valeriya : Very easy to use and worth every cent spent
I love this product and hardly see any cons in it so far.
I get a lot of vegetables as part of farm sharing in my area. During winter, it is especially difficult to keep them fresh and they take a LOT of space in the fridge. I have been looking for a vacuum sealer and finally decided on this model based on reviews and reasonable price.
Pros: It is extremely easy to use. I will say that I had to look up a video on YouTube before I started using this sealer as the manual was not 100% clear to me. It took me 2 minutes to learn to use it though. I did not have any issues with sealing the bags - just leave enough room in it and make sure you hear the locking mechanism click on both sides. It is all intuitive really. This vacuum sealer comes with a roll of bags and several pre-cut ones. Note: I used them up the first night. So if you plan on sealing a lot, get extra rolls. It looks great and should fit any kitchen. It’s also easy to store once you are done.
Cons (there are not a lot, mostly things I noted during use): You will have to buy extra vacuum seal bags. I personally think that the benefit outweighs extra cost, but be prepared. You cannot use zip lock bags. I tried out of curiosity. It seals them and sucks some air out, but nowhere near enough to store for a long time. Plus, I would assume it would melt cheaper bags - I had heavy duty ones and I only tried with one to see what happens. The manual is not very clear to me. Look up a video or review on YouTube. I found them very useful. Make sure you wait until the machine stops working before opening it: if you vacuum seal, the Vac/Seal button will deillimunate, then the Seal button. I didn’t wait for the seal button first several times and had to re-do those bags.
D. E. Camp : Not A Good Product
Worked OK for 10-15 uses then it started to fall apart. See photo. It costs me $15.00 restock fee to Amazon. The company claims that they are not the manufactior but the assembler of the product. They wanted me to pay shipping both ways. I don't want this product any more as I don't need another one that will just fall apart. Inexpensive but Not a good buy. I've had very few if any products that needed to be returned to Amazon but this is not good customer service and not a good product.
Hans : Failed after three months, no warranty. Worked well for a while.
This is a good little machine but after only three months and despite careful cleaning it won't pull a full vacuum anymore and there's no warranty. Except for that, Ms. Lincoln, how was the play? It has an authoritative-sounding pump and on the moist setting makes an especially solid seal. This is my third vacuum sealer and although I would like it if the drip tray could be removed for cleaning, it’s the best so far. There are two problems to be aware of: When the sealing bar gets hot from sealing one bag after another, it is already hot when you close the machine. The bag is partially sealed before the vacuum pump kicks in so it never has a chance to get the air out. Open up the machine and stick it in the refrigerator for a while. When the sealing process finishes there is no audible signal. You have to watch the indicator lights to see when they all go out. These are tiny little LEDs and difficult to see in bright light. I had problems at first putting in a new bag before the old one had finished.
Microfinish Employee : Mostly good.
I don't have a lot to compare this to, as the only other food sealing device with which I personally have experience is the fm4440 I got for my grandmother this past Christmas. However, I was sufficiently impressed with its functionality to turn my attention to what appears to be amongst the best sealers available for about half that price. Perhaps there is more reason than branding. As much as I wanted to leave a gleaming five star review after the first 30 days of using this device, I now cannot. Put plainly, my attachment hose has broken. Obtaining a replacement has proven as yet problematic. Aside from the hose breaking, and (unlike foodsaver) replacement hoses being something PYLEUSA does not make commercially available, the sealer is amazing. I don't have a good way to test this, but I think it may provide a stronger vacuum than the foodsaver brand sealers. Until the hose breaks, it functions flawlessly with foodsaver brand attachments and accessories such as the containers, Ziploc style bags, and my personally most used, the jar sealers. (Both regular and wide mouth). This sealer is so good, that despite the issues I'm having replacing the hose, I'd still recommend it. I'd just also recommend you treat the hose like porcelain, and bear in mind that SoundAround support will jerk you back and forth for about a week before finally admitting the "free" replacement is going to run you $8, and for no amount of money may you possess an additional back up. It's simply not available. I have included a close up of the cracked end of the hose, attached too the unit. The rubber band shown is holding the crack until I can get a replacement.
T. Rice : Added star for DEAL GOODS customer service
First couple times I used this it performed as it should. In other words it vacuumed sealed automatically. Thereafter it would no longer vacuum and seal at the same time. The vacuum would run and run and never seal. I waited and waited, thinking maybe it just took time. After 10-15 minutes of not sealing after numerous attempts it became obvious to me that it does not work. I researched reasons why it may not be sealing (i.e. position of the bag in vacuum chamber, material or moisture along the seal point, etc., etc. But I could never get it to work again. The only option is vacuum and the seal separately, but that of course inevitably loses varying degrees of the vacuum. Then the bags started leaking in my sous vide, although I could so no reason why. So I started double-bagging. Still could not get vacuum/seal to work. It would run for minutes and occasionally it would stop, making me think it had worked. No dice, did not seal.
I've had thins thing almost six weeks and it stopped working well in the first two. I should have returned it.
ETA: I contacted the vendor DEAL GOODS six months after purchase and they replaced the unit. I believe this goes above and beyond ordinary customer service and would recommend buying from them again in the future. As to whether the replacement NutriChef Vacuum Sealer performs better than the other, only time will tell. I did note that the heating element for sealing was different. Hopefully Nutrichef fixed the defect.
J : Faulty closure/heating element
This is not a unit that my elderly mother would be able to use as you need to press firmly down on the unit to "click" the top of the unit into place to begin the vac seal process. Additionally, my clip did not stay closed from the very first use and I had to therefore continually hold down the unit to ensure the clips would remain together so that the unit could work. Lastly, as I always do at least ten items each time I vac seal, this unit did not even make it to number 10 before the heating element that seals the bag overheated. This would cause the next bag to begin to melt and interrupt the vac seal process. I had to then take a break and return to the vac seal task later. This is not a workhorse like that other name brand we have all purchased at some point. I am therefore giving this a one star rating as there is no need for me to keep this item. Additionally, it is one of those items that promises a "reward" for review, I am going to assume that is why there are so many.

J : Good sealer for the price
My first vacuum sealer and I'm pretty happy with this unit so far. Probably one of the best values for the price. I would definitely recommend this unit but you need to make sure you're ok with cons below. Some con's weren't a big deal but something to consider. Pros: - Price, one of the lowest priced units that delivers great performance - I like the touch buttons as it's easy to use - Has all the basic features plus some nice enhancements like a dry/moist and gentle/normal suction - Has a wine stopper/vacuum attachment - Has a separate canister attachment so you can vacuum a solid container Cons - Locking the lid before vacuuming take a bit of pressure. There's 2 latches at the ends that require you to really push down to lock. A lever would've been better. - No built in cutter for rolls. A nice to have convenience so you're not using your scissors all the time. - Instructions say to wait 40 sec between sealing. Not a big deal as the time it takes to prep the next bag is about that long anyway. - No roll storage in the machine so you need to pre-cut your bag with your scissors
Matthew : Garbage. Waste of money.
Garbage. Rarely if ever works. Don't waste your money. 9 times out of 10 it will just keep vacuuming forever, forcing me to cancel, adjust the bag pointlessly, and ultimately cut a new bag hoping that one works. I just checked three recently "successful" vacuum sealed bags and they all have air in them. I might as well have just used a ziplock bag. I've never used a vacuum sealer before this one but I have to assume they are supposed to work better than this piece of junk.
Mark in Santa Monica : Probably the best choice for vacuum sealers.
I hunted for a while to find a reasonably priced tool for this job. Compared to the others I have seen, the Nutrichef is:

The only things that kept me from a FIVE star rating are:
1. It can be tricky to get the bags in the right position. If you do not, they will not seal properly. I attached a photo showing a setup that works for me. The end of the bag must be about halfway in to the "Vacuum Chamber".

Pineapple : Not a good product, at all!
Prior to purchasing this vacuum sealer, most reviews were excellent reviews? I have been using the food saver vacuum sealer for 6 years, but it was time to get another one. I wanted to find a vacuum sealer that didn't cost as much, maybe another brand? I purchased the Nutrichef as it was the most popular sealer that people were buying. That was a terrible vacuum sealer! It took a lot of force to set the bag and lock it in place to the machine could vacuum seal the bag. After double checking the rubber seal and resetting it back in the machine I still had to force it shut, even after flipping the rubber around. Only to find the suction was minimal and could not suck the air out of the bag unless I squeezed all the air out of the bag by hand with the motor running, then and only then did the machine started to suck the air out. When the suction started it was a weak suction and barely got the rest of the air out after I squeezed the air out by hand. The seal was ok. The next time I used the machine it wouldn't suck the air out of the bag again, so I checked the vacuum hole in the machine and there was hardly any suction from the machine. Amazon sent a second one to me hoping the first was a defective machine, but the second machine was just as bad and didn't work any better. I returned both machines to Amazon. Sorry but this is not a good sealer.
Hung M. Nguyen : The Nutrichef model PKVS18 design is worst. Customer Service 's silent.
I ordered Nutrichef model PKVS18 on April 2019. After 8 months the electrics wires that connect upper and base broke. I need help then I dropped many massages in Nutrichef website. Nutrichef didn't replied and didn't help me anything. The Nutrichef model PKVS18 design is worst. Vacuum machine sets in the base that connects with the control buttons in the top side by some very small electric wires. When the machine in use, the top moves up and down then the small electric wires inside fold up and down too. This is reason, why the small electric wires connect the top side and base broke in short time. I have just bought a Geryon vacuum sealer model E2900-MS/M; the perfect design of Geryon prevents electric wires from damage. This weekend, I will be take some photos of Nutrichef damage vacuum then post here.
I've also been very careful to make sure the bag is placed correctly.

rsheldiii : so during normal handling of the device you can easily set them off 3
There's common knowledge in the sous vide community that until you're ready for a chamber vacuum sealer, you should just get the cheapest regular vacuum sealer you can find.
Daniel : Are all the good reviews reliable?
I ordered this product because it had favorable customer ratings. The product seems to work well for the price but I have only used it once. The real test will be to see how it does in the long run . I was disappointed with their marketing strategy - included with this product was a flyer saying they would give away free vacuum bags for "eligible "customers who left a product review. within 30 days of purchase I'm wondering now if that is why so many positive reviews were written. Perhaps customers were more anxious to get their free vacuum bags than they were to o really write a honest review. How can you tell in just 30 days anyways?. I hope I will still get my free bags. I'll keep you posted if that happens or not.
Doug Smith : Short of blowing up in my face, I LOVE This Vacuum
So far, my NutriChef Vacuum Sealer is AWESOME! My previous sealer was a much older basic FoodSaver that finally no longer sucked (BTW that's a bad thing). The NutriChef beats it in almost every way: 1. You can seal without vacuuming . . . my ears almost began to bleed with the FoodSaver when I had to make bags! 2. The unit "clicks" shut . . . My foodsaver had to be held down until the "hands Free" light came on. 2. Multiple options on vacuuming . . . gentle or standard, moist or normal. . . FoodSaver one. 4. Not as loud. I would not call it "quiet" but it is not house shaking either. 3. The best feature . . . It can pull a vacuum strong enough to crumple an empty soda can. Crushing cans is not super useful I know, but it IS Cool!
The only minor advantage my FoodSaver had over the NutriChef is that it had a removeable drip tray making it easy to clean out liquid that leaked during vacuuming. I believe their literature indicates this is a patented feature so...
To be fair, my FoodSaver was a very BASIC and quite OLD model. The new ones likely have improved. After my research here on Amazon and other places, I decided that this unit at this price point was just what I was looking for. I am very happy I chose it. However, if it flies apart into a hundred flaming pieces of shrapnel tomorrow, I WILL downgrade my review to 3 stars!! Fair warning.
alison : Has a blemish on the sealer edge, causing it to burn through the plastic rather than seal.
From the first use, this had a blemish of some kind on the sealer edge, causing it to burn through the plastic rather than seal every time. So it burns through one part of the plastic really fast and doesn't get hot enough alone the rest of the sealer edge to seal the bag. Disappointing and difficult to work around this spot in the middle of the sealer. Needed to use this right away and didn't have time to return--such a hassle, just want things to be quality products the first time rather than wasting my time! Also, besides the spot that burns through the plastic, there is definitely a learning curve for proper use and the instructions aren't the best.
M&D West : Great sealer that is easy to use and powerful
I had sealer in the past, but it died awhile back. After going back and forth on a couple we decided to go with the Nutrichef sealer. It had great reviews plus had a few videos reviews that were great. It came with some per cut bags and a small roll of bags to cut to length. It also came with a wine cork stopper to vacuum the air out of the bottle so it doesn’t go flat plus it has an air hose to vacuum seal close certain Tupperware containers. I have used this everyday for the past 5 days and I love it. It so easy to use and simple to use buttons. You can just seal the bag or you can vacuum and it automatically seals for you. At anytime while it’s vacuuming you can select the seal button and it will seal right then. You have 2 modes to chose from normal or gentle depending on what you are doing and you can pick dry or moist for the food option. If there is too much moisture it will end up sucking it up causing clog the vacuum and/ or damage the motor. You do have to push to down on both sides and hear a click to make sure the side locked in place. You can push one side down at a time if that is easier and once you done push the Buttons on both sides to unlock the sealer. When I go to use whatever I sealed shut the food is still nice and fresh plus you can use it to freeze food and not worry about it getting freezer burnt and still fresh after thawing it. I really enjoy this sealer a lot and it’s coming in real handy. I recommend it to anyone looking for a sealer
JWINK : Good budget level vacuum sealer
The sealer (I got the silver color) includes, a manual, a wine stopper cork, 5 medium vacuum bags (78 x 118 inches) and one larger bag roll (78 x 790 inches). Not really sure why a wine cork is included, but ok. The instructions also could be a bit better as well.
I got this as a gift for a relative for the holiday as this seemed like a reasonably priced sealer at 50 bucks. Granted, this sealer won’t match the features and quality of higher end versions as you could easily spend a few hundred bucks for the pro-grade versions.
Quality is pretty good for this sealer, considering the price. It is solid and well made and fairly easy to use. The soft touch buttons are labeled well and easy to read and operate. The buttons are a bit sensitive though and are easy to accidently change.
This doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of all the high-end versions, but this does have a dry/moist option for sealing a variety of food.
Extra bags for this are reasonably priced as well and make this an economical way to preserve food, which lasts longer than just in bags or containers.
Overall, for the price, this is a good quality vacuum sealer.
Pros: Reasonable price Easy to use Decent quality for price Seals pretty well Replacement bags are reasonable price Helps preserve food for longer periods Compact, lightweight
Cons: Buttons a bit sensitive A basic model, Not feature rich Bags can sometimes be problematic to seal Needs better instructions Only a 1-year warranty Unknown long-term reliability
4 stars
EErock : This is a sealed deal !
I've owned a few other brands in my time and quite honestly was never very impressed for one reason or another. Now I just received this today, so I cannot make any claims of prolonged use . However I can tell you that immediately I liked this thing. It was confirmed when i used it that this product is well built and seems powerful and is also more in the range of a compact size I had always planned to purchase but instead would end up with a huge counter top style. . So off to a good start but time will tell. Its got my vote already . Have a great day !
Kerriann : Should have bought this first
**Update - this still works just as well as the day I bought it now in November 2018. I frequently use it to package fresh meat that I buy when it goes on sale. I've never, ever had a bag lose its seal - not even one! 100% satisfied**
I bought this to replace a cheap Aldi brand sealer that quit working after about 10 uses. What a difference! Excellent suction without being too loud or difficult to use. Worked the first time right out of the box, and haven't had a problem yet. I will update after more uses and after I've tried a wider variety of items .
Dave : Gets the job done, but could be improved upon.
This makes buying in bulk a great option because you can keep you food fresh for longer storage. The device works well. It's not, but not too terrible. You also have to line up the bags just right to get a good vacuum seal. You press the button, it sucks in the air, and then seals the bag for you. Very easy in that regard. It's kind of a pain to lock down each side because it takes a fair amount of pressure to lock it in place. Several times when trying to lock, I accidentally moved the bag and had to open it up and position it correctly in order to vacuum. One other thing I don't like is having to wait one minute between sealing operations. That's because the heat bar takes a minute to cook down. If you put your bag in before it colls, it seals the bag shut and the vacuum won't remove the air. It takes a few times to get used to it and get used to knowing where to place everything. The roll of bags that come with it is a sample pack, and not very much material in there so buy yourself the extra rolls when you buy this. The 11x50 size are perfect for steaks!
Andrew Knight : Great for vacuum-packing foods for camping -- makes camp cooking incredibly easy
We purchased our NutriChef vacuum sealer primarily to pack foods for car-camping trips, though it's immediately proving to be more broadly useful than I expected.
For its primary mission (packaging foods for camping), it really works a charm. Over the week before we went camping, I froze several meals (red beans and rice, BBQ beef, mashed cauliflower, egg bites for breakfast, etc.) in storage containers, then dipped the containers in a hot water bath to release the contents. I slid the resulting pucks of food into appropriate-sized vacuum bags and sealed them up nicely. We loaded them into our camping fridge frozen and allowed them to defrost at 38 degrees, so when we were ready to reheat them, we just dropped the sealed packets in to a pot of simmering water for about 20 minutes. This made dinner prep, serving, and clean-up amazingly easy in camp.
The unit does take a little practice to get the seals right (especially with moist foods, and you quickly learn to wipe the inside of the open end of the bag with a paper towel after you introduce food to make sure there is no food residue to interfere with the sealing, but once you get the hang of it, it's quick and easy.

Tc Hefty : Great Product for Great Price
I needed to replace my old vacuum sealer but did not want to spend a fortune. The whole purpose of my vacuum sealer is to save money by buying in bulk. I read a million reviews and finally decided to give this one a try. I am SOOO glad that I did. The first time I used it took a minute to figure out how to get the bag just right in the sealer. The directions are just some pictures. Once I figured out how to get it in the sealer just right it was super east to seal. I packaged about 10 packs of meat. I packaged chicken breasts, hamburger, and steaks. It all sealed great. I did not have wait in between sealing each package. By the time I got the next package ready the sealer was ready. I have used it several times since and it is still working great. I do recommend if you are wanting to seal something that has a lot of liquid in it that you freeze it first and then put the frozen item in the freezer bag and seal it. This is not because this sealer does not do a good job (I have not tried the moist option) but because it just works so much better with any sealer to do it that way. My last sealer was very expensive and worked well with the moist option when I was sealing things to freeze that had a marinade with it but it just seems to get more air out and last longer when I froze it in a zip lock for about an hour or so and then took it out of the zip lock and sealed it in a vacuum bag and put back in freezer.
myrazydzik : it is very quiet
I was skeptical at first because of the size. This machine is very small and light weight but it seals as good if not better than the large one I replaced . the bag cutter was a trip to figure out but when I did it was a laugh that I took so long. The cutter is on the top and you simply place the bag material over it to size then slide the cutter. The whole machine is simple and I love it
Chryso : A bit of a pain, but does the job
This review is based on one extended use, to vacuum seal 20lbs of fresh peaches, frozen and sliced.
CONS: — The lid is a pain to lock. (There is a locking mechanism on the two front corners.) I can’t simply press or even lean on each corner to lock it. I have to actually pick up each corner and squeeze the top and bottom together very tightly with both hands while simultaneously making sure the bag stays in place. If not for this ridiculous problem, it would be a decent gadget. — It feels cheap and plastic-y, doesn’t feel like it will stand up to the vigorous handling required to lock the lid in place. Here’s hoping it lasts more than a few uses.
PROS: — Although I struggled with each and every bag to lock the lid, it finally did the job. I now have 20lbs of vacuum sealed peaches in my freezer. —I like the roll of bagging material. Yes, you have to cut the bag to the size you prefer, then seal one end, then fill the bag, then seal the other end. It may seem like a lot of steps, but it’s worth it to me. I like having larger bags for baking and small pouches for a smoothie or snacking.
NOTES:
I froze the sliced peaches first on a cookie sheet, then placed frozen peaches in bags to seal. It worked great while the peaches were fully frozen.
Because the peaches were rock hard and not wet, I tried the “dry” setting first. Wrong! That did not work at all. On “moist,” it worked like a charm. Fully vacuumed and sealed.
The suction worked best while the peaches were frozen. Once they started to thaw, juice was sucked out the open edge and the seal didn’t function properly. I wiped the excess juice off the machine and edges of the bag and re-sealed the bag with no problem. The fix, of course, was to work with fewer frozen peaches at a time. A better fix, dear manufacturer, would be a lid that locks in place easily so I could work more quickly, then the peaches would not have time to thaw.
The roll of bagging material that comes in the box was not quite enough for 20lbs of peaches. If you have a lot of freezing to do like I did, order extra rolls from the start.
The product gets three stars because it’s so difficult to lock. If locking was easy, I’d give it four stars, possibly five.
slunder : We weren't happy with it :(
We did not get good results with this model at all. We have had 3 of the FoodSaver brands and after a while they don't work, usually cannot be fixed at that point and they are expensive to replace so we decided to give this less expensive option to seal foods a try. It is not as bulky as a FoodSaver and does not even sound as rugged as the FoodSaver, almost sounds like a cheap jigsaw cutting wood LOL After attempting to seal over a dozen packages of meat and some walnuts it was very disappointing as only two of the packages actually sealed. The rest were left with air in them still because it does not seal all the way across, it leaves small quarter inch or more gaps for air to get back in (aka not getting all the air out). Returned the product and will seek a better alternative or pony up and go back to FoodSaver brand.
JOHN W CRANE : Compact; Lousy Instructions; Finally Works After Many Attempts
Haven't tried it yet, but everything looks good. It's compact, which is important, since I have limited counter space. Will update review after using.
Update: I was so excited to try it on a big block of cheese, but I couldn’t get the bag vacuumed and sealed. The unit wouldn’t lock down. I reported it, and am now waiting for a replacement. Will update again after it comes, and I can try it again.
Final Update: This one works, but the instructions are lousy, and the pictures need to be of better quality so you can the fine details of the unit. I remember reading another Amazon review that submitted a photograph that included some additional details about how to position the bag in the machine. This really helped me get it right. But the other thing not included in the instructions is how to get it to lock down. After numerous failed attempts, I finally figured it out. You have to push the top down pretty hard until you hear the click. Once it locked down, and the bag was positioned correctly, it worked, and I have vac sealed about 6 items now with no problem.
