Questions about NutriChef PKVS Vacuum_Sealer_Machine, 12", Silver
Q:
This item can vacuum soup based food?
Answer: A really handy way to vacuum seal soupy stuff is put it in a low wide container not bigger than sealer bags. Freeze, pop out, put the frozen chunk of frozen liquid into the vacuum bag and seal. No mess, works like a charm! Cheers ☺
Answer: Can you use food saver rolls on this machine
Answer: Any moisture at all prevents evacuation and sealing.
Answer: Yes all sealers can
Q:
which vacuum sealer recommend to buy, this one or foodsaver?
Answer: Not sure about this one, but I spent $189 on the Food Saver one and it sealed exactly 7 bags and broke. Returned it and got a replacement thinking it was just a dud and the replacement broke before fully sealing a single bag. I’d say give this one a try but buy the warranty if they’re selling one.
Answer: I have had 2 of this exact model. Never tried a different brand until both of these would stop sealing after a year. I had to pay shipping both ways for warranty replacement. I purchased the Enzoo brand sealer, it's way better. More quiet, faster, lasting longer. Can store bags inside the unit. Waaaaay better
Answer: I have bought this NutriChef machine, it's working and useful! And I have bought another one for my parents. Toprime vacuum sealer(VS6620). it's a compact one and high cost-effective. Both are good products!!!
Answer: We’ve had both and would buy the NutriChef again. We’ve had our NutriChef for almost a year and use it several times a week. We have a galley kitchen and the NutriChef takes much less counter space than Food Saver. The NutriChef works well with the Food Saver bags. Since the NutriChef’s cost is a fraction of the Food Saver’s, and it works just as well, we’d buy another NutriChef in a heartbeat.
Answer: I have a stash of foodsaver bags from my foodsaver machine that brokedown after a long time of use. My question is can the foodsaver bags be used with this Nutri Chef sealer? is the nutrichef bag compatible with the foodsaver bag?
Answer: bought mine in July of 2018 its now useless. This my first one now I know what to look for an this is not the one, it has stopped vacuuming an wont seal, warranty not good!
Answer: It works but not as well as my prior Foodsaver.
Answer: No do not buy it broke in 3 months after using about 5 times.
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: I've had both.... Foods aver was manual and began to stop sealing after a year or so. This Nutri Chef is working great and seals quickly.
Q:
Does this sealer allow you to create your own bags?
Answer: I had purchased the large roll and with that I made the bags any size I wanted. I also sealed a zip lock bag and it worked.
Answer: Yes, just seal the end and you have a bag.
Answer: yes
Q:
Can anyone explain the disclaimer about the cancer and birth defect materials?
Answer: Some states have rigid laws regarding disclaimers. In California we have ridden on elevators that say some materials on the elevator car may have been in contact with or contain materials that are known to cause cancer. I always think I won’t eat the carpet so I’m ok.
Answer: Everything here in California causes cancer. As long as you don't buy it here, you'll be fine; however, if you bring it here and take it back to your state, it'll have cancer in it. You've been warned.
Answer: As the other answer mentioned states like California (prop 65) have laws that require this warning. Although I do not know the exact reason(s) this item has the warning many times it is the ink on the box, plastic wrappers, etc. Unless you were planning on eating the packaging you should be fine in most cases.
Q:
Just received and have 1 concern and one question. Concern is that when the top is open if accidentally touch vac/seal, machine starts operating.
Answer: The unit's vac will start operating and try to pull a vacuum until it reaches the expected force required tell it that is has achieved the target. since you have it sucking open air it will either suck until it times out and determines there is an error or you hit stop. the seal bar should never heat as it did not achieve the target. Also the seal bar will likely never heat when its open due to the wine cork attachment.
Answer: Don't have this product, but that would seem to be a normal function. The vacuum hose accessory should attach to the hole on the inside of the machine. Hence, necessity for operation even with the lid open.
Answer: When it is open the button is on the outside so it would be hard to accidentally press it. But it’s not impossible.
Answer: I don't know about that. But, as a long term review, we are getting less enchanted with it. It sometimes doesn't seem to seal completely.
Q:
What type of bags can be used with this sealer?
Answer: It does NOT seal ziploc bags. These people are lying
Answer: I have used all kinds of baddies from Kmart to Walmart to amazon and they have all worked! Hope that helps!
Q:
I bought this Vacuum Sealer, it is awesome, but unfortunately my sous vide was broken.Do you have any recommendations for buying it?
Answer: If you are asking for a recommendation on a Sous vide device, I'm happy with this one (https://www.amazon.com/Anova-Culinary-Precision-Adjustment-Circulator/dp/B00UKPBXM4/ref=sr_1_1) also I bought this cooler,(https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004L4QA8M/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00) and drilled a 2 1/2 hole in the top as a container for cooking.
Answer: Do NOT buy this sealer. I have had it for 2 months and the rubber has fallen off; so now it is useless. I bought extra wrap and everything. Now I am screwed out of our money on it all. It had 1 month to send it back only.
Answer: I think my sous vide is very durable, I've been using it for a year, it still works well, maybe you can choose it, the products brand is Yocool. The link is: http://a.co/4pSGqCU
Answer: I just registered my sealer. It says it has a one year warranty. I experienced great customer service with this company when I had a question as to the operation.
Answer: I have had mine a little over a month and haven’t had any problems with it. I have probably used it 30 to 40 times and I really like it.
Answer: If you call Anova Customer Service (if it’s Anova), they are super helpful. Mine broke after the year but I called anyway and they sent me another one. No charge. Also sent a return label for free postage back. I got the new one the day after I sent the broken one back. Love those folks!
Q:
Does it cut bags or do you have to do it yourself, as it states it comes with a roll of storage rolls?
Answer: It comes with a few precut & sealed bags, but the roll you need to cut yourself. I find it's less wasteful since you can cut down to the size you need.
Answer: You have to cut the bags.
Answer: No it does NOT cut the bags
Answer: You have to cut them yourself
Answer: Yes, its has a built in cutter on the top of the unit.
Q:
Does this require 2 handed operation?
Answer: It requires two hands. Even with two hands I struggle if trying to seal sloppy foods because it is so easy to accidentally hit the buttons before the sealer is done. Also their are latches on both sides that have to be released.
Answer: It’s more easy with 2 hands because you must close 2 buttons at the same time but it’s possible to close this product one button per one button. I hope to have respond at your question.
Answer: It helps to align the bags and snap the lid closed if you use two hands. You have to press the the lid down with just a little force.
Answer: No, I use this 1 handed all the time when my other hand is messy. It really is not difficult
Q:
I purchased this item on february 19, 2018. it is march 19, 2018, and my attachment hose is broken already. how can i get another hose?
Answer: This is a universal one and works great.
Answer: Sorry. Call Tech Support Hotline 718-535-1800
Answer: This is the same issue I had with the FoodSaver. Hopefully customer service for this product is more accomodating. FoodSaver wouldn't do anything about the three that I went through in just over a year.
Answer: Call the 800 # in your booklet.
Q:
What is the widest bag you can use?
Answer: The widest I've used is 11 inches. The specs says the sealer is 14 inches wide. I would image 12 or 13 inches would be the widest that could be used.
Answer: 11 inches
Q:
What is the input voltage? 110 / 220 VAC?
Answer: 120 volts, the nominal voltage in the USA is 120 volts not 110.
Answer: 110 VAC
Q:
can i use it to seal bags without the vacuum function?
Answer: Yes. Use the seal only button. Unlike our previous Food Saver vacuum sealer, the seal only function is very quiet. So if you dont think it’s doing anything, it is. Enjoy.
Answer: Yes. It has a separate button for seal and then a vac/seal.
Answer: Yes, it has a seal only button.
Q:
How long does a vacuum seal take?
Answer: Not very long. Just a few seconds.
Answer: It doesn’t seal.
Answer: Less than 30 seconds.
Q:
What bags can be used with this vacuum sealer?
Answer: It comes with 5 Medium bags (7.8"x11.8") and 1 extra long bag roll (7.8" x 79.0") that you can cut to size. I preferred the one you cut to size and since have ordered 2 more rolls. Recently went fishing in Canada and vacuum packed all the Walleye we brought back. PERFECT!
Answer: I bought the generic rolls 11" by 50' two roll pack at Amazon they are great and a savings. I make bags to suit the sizes I need.
Answer: I used some of the bags that came with the sealer and also used some generic bags I bought on a roll at Sam's Club. So I believe any brand would work as they all seal the same with heat.
Q:
What is the Country of origin?
Answer: It is designed in Wisconsin by Presto Industries Engineers and made in China. HOWEVER, do not let the "Made in China" stigma affect your decision. I have used this product several times, and I have not had a single problem. I highly recommend this product to anyone.
Answer: Doesn’t matter. The vacuum pump on mine broke after sealing four or five bags.
Answer: China
Q:
Can you seal liquids? Like marinades?
Answer: If you're planning on freezing after sealing, then freeze it first in a zipper bag, then take your solid marinade and vacuum seal it and toss it back in the freezer. If you're planning on storing it as liquid, you can run the vacuum manually and shut it off before too much liquid gets sucked in, but you may not get all the air out.
Answer: You have to freeze it first and then seal it. I used my sealer for the first time and was trying to seal berries that were in the fridge and it sucked the fluid into the sealer. It didn’t break the machine but, the bag didn’t seal. It needs to be dry or just a bit moist food. I put the berries in the freezer for a day, took them out and then sealed them. Worked great
Answer: I haven’t tried that yet. The book says you can freeze milk so I would think so. Call the 800 number. ????
Answer: I haven’t done it but I believe you can
Q:
can you boil water in bag
Answer: You can put bag in boiling water. You would have to boil water to boil water in bag.
Q:
Does this have separate vacuum and seal functions? Or it it just a single vacuum/seal button?
Answer: The vacuum and the sealer are separate; you can vacuum without sealing and can seal without vacuuming. There is also a separate small hose apparatus for vacuuming jars, however I'm not sure how it works.
Answer: You can't just vacuum, you can just seal, or you can seal and vacuum at the same time. I've found this a problem if you have moist ingredients because it sucks the wet ingredients out and that makes it too moist to seal.
Answer: It has separate buttons so you can just seal or do both. Works great on the roll this way. I wasn't sure myself when purchased but now that I have it, I know it. You will like it easy to use.
Answer: It has extra attachments for vacuum. I just got it And haven't tried that yet.
Answer: Separate functions
Q:
can this seal a larger bag, 11" wide
Answer: Yes it will seal 11" wide bags or roll stock.
Answer: The largest bag roll I have is 11" and that is end to end. So I would not think so.
Q:
I recently bought this and it doesn't seal. It literally worked 1 time now won't seal at all. Has anyone else had this issue?
Answer: We had a problem at first too. Make sure the part you are sealing is completely flat, no wrinkles, put the bag in far enough (not just at the edge) MAKE SURE YOU HEAR THE 2 CLICKS when you close the lid. Press the vacuum button and when that goes off, hit the seal button. Our problem was, listening for the TWO clicks when you close the lid. We wasted some bags at first, but now we love it. I swear the man in this house, keeps buying meat, just so he can play with the thing. Good luck
Answer: I found it necessary to wait a second or two AFTER the indicator light that says Seal has turned off. When I was taking it out as soon as all the operating noise stopped, I often got a partial seal and sometimes, no seal.
Answer: So apparently you have to wait 40 seconds between seals. It was frustrating to figure that out.
Answer: No but I had one bag wrinkle while closing and that caused it I flattened it and worked after
Q:
When we vacuum seal meat w/ marinade the vacuum sucks liquid out and doesn't seal all the way. Is there a fix to this?
Answer: You can freeze seal meat in a freezer first, then put in vacuum bag. But aren't seals always caught in freezing weather?
Answer: You can either freeze it for about 30 minutes or place a few paper towels in between the meat and the sealing end. Both work well
Answer: Im having this problem too and want an idea. I'm trying to seal pieces of a spiral ham which has a lot of liquid that pulls out and it vacuums fine then the seal doesn't work. I'm thinking it's all that water getting into the seal.
Answer: I couldn’t tell you for sure but I have noticed there is a small amount of moisture still left in the bag when sealed
Answer: You can freeze the wet stuff then seal it.
Answer: are you using the wet setting?
Q:
What is the difference between the models pkvs18bk and pkvs25bk?
Answer: PKVS25Bk is a upgraded sealer that can be used with 60 Consecutive Seals, it also has a built in cutter to cut the rolls to the bag size that you want
Q:
I want to vacuum seal fresh apples. Should I choose dry or moist option ?
Answer: Dry
Q:
Funciona a 220v?
Answer: No
Q:
the product i bought was no good
Answer: My husband also first thought ours was no good because the lid would not lock down and he was going to return it. I searched through these questions and found helpful answers on how to get the lid to lock down, but my husband still couldn’t get it. I walked over to the machine and pressed down hard on one end until it clicked then pressed down on the other side until it clicked. Done. My husband couldn’t believe it and asked what I did. Seriously. I told him to press down very firmly on each end. Lol. It works great.
Answer: I understand your frustration. I too had problems until I watched a video on how to work it. Once I got the hang of it I spent the day sealing everything in my freezor. It is tricky to get it to seal properly.
Answer: Did you ask for a replacement? I got mine and used 2 days later worked great with no problems except it took a bit of pushing to lock it. After figuring it out it's easy now.
Answer: It works but it is not user friendly and I have wasted bags before I got it right.
Q:
Will this seal mylar bags?
Answer: So far so good. All these sealer machines are not like the ones they made 20 years ago, all are made cheap! Hopefully this NutriChef will last half as long as my last food sealer, "Food Saver".
Q:
Are the included bags BPA free?
Answer: Yes
Q:
Can you use this product to seal mason jars for canning?
Answer: Please be aware that this unit just pulls a vacuum, removing air/oxygen from the container and does not CAN anything. Canning is a form of food preservation and requires either a water bath or pressure canner to properly sterilize the food. You can seal jars of nuts, grains, flour, candy, snacks, dry pasta, dry beans, dry seeds, dry herbs, dry spices, dry bread crumbs, trail mix, etc.. Do not us this in an attempt to preserve perishable items like raw/cooked/smoked meats or fish, fresh or cooked vegetables, stews, soups, cakes, pies, fresh pasta, breads, etc.. These will spoil.
Answer: YES, there is an attachment for jars. This is a great unit
Answer: Yes, however you will need an attachment for jars
Answer: Yes, I’ve never done it but you are able to do so.
Q:
I bought this vacuuum sealer last christmas. It worker great for about 6 months. Not if runs and runs but never evacuates the bag and seals. Why?
Answer: Hi, our sincere apologies. Please check if the bag that you use is properly attached to the unit. You may also use a different mode that fits the food that you're using. If the troubleshooting didn't work kindly call our Technical Support Department at 718 535 1800 Press 2 then 1 from Monday to Friday 9 AM to 5 PM EST. Thank you.
Answer: I had a couple issues with this. I found that the opening of the bag has to be in the exact position in the unit. Also its important that the bag be cut straight across if you are using bag rolls.
Q:
Would this work with shrink wrap? Would this work for sealing soap?
Answer: Shrink Wrap? No idea Yes, you can seal soap with materials provides.
Answer: I do not believe it works with shrink wrap, however it would work with soap using the vacuum bags.
Answer: Hi, it will work in all vacuum bags. For more info, kindly visit our website pyleaudio.com. Type the model number on the search box PKVS18SL. Thank you.
Answer: I would assume so, but I don't know for sure.
Q:
my brand new nutrichef machine will vacuum, but never seals. Won't stop vacuuming. I tried several different bags, and the food was dry. Answers?
Answer: Make sure you don’t have the bag in to far.
Answer: You need to close it properly. Put plenty of pressure on the sides of the machine while closing it until it clicks from both edgest and you feel the lid fall in place as well as feel the buttons on the edges get stiff. It is very stiff, you really need to apply force on the lid when you close it!
Answer: Mine did this a few times in the beginning. One side of the machine wasn't closing all the way. Had at to really push it to get it to click and lock. Make sure the bag is in the gap and not to far up, and the valve isnt covered by the bag.
Answer: my machine will not seal after vaccum..
Answer: Hi. I'm not sure if this will help but the trick is to make sure the to side clips click in place. They take a little bit of persuasion. Once they are in you should have some great suction power.
Answer: Hi
Q:
Is this machine UL/Csa listed?
Answer: We couldn't find anything like that on it anywhere, not in the paperwork either. Made in China.
Q:
Hola cómo hago para enviar el producto a la garantía? Gracias!!
Answer: We have dedicated tech support call center that would love to help you troubleshoot your issue. Please contact 718-535-1800 press 2 for customer service and then 1 for tech support Monday to Thursday 9 am to 5 pm EST.
Q:
I've had the product for two months, lately it defaults to 'seal' function when closing lid. Any ideas how to keep from happening? A reset I can do?
Answer: not know
Q:
I have only been using this for one month, but the heat sealing element no longer works. Is there a way to fix it?
Answer: same here - heat sealing element no longer works only after a few uses now. not sure it is worth trying to repair.
Answer: My heat element works fine, however if it is frozen or to wet and close to element you have to seal twice with out opening top
Answer: I really don't know.I would call the mfg.I used mine a few times and not crazy aboutit.I want indvigable bags, not a roll you have to make your own.Next time I will buy a better one.I've only have had mine a few months also.Make sure both sides are locked down. You should hear them snap on each side.
Answer: Not that I know of. I’ve had mine for over a year but use it sporadically. Once it stops sealing though I think it’s time for a new one
Answer: I have had mine for less than one month and have not encountered this problem, so I cannot help you with this issue. Sorry.
Q:
Do mylar bags work with this machine
Q:
what is maximun bag size width this can seal?
Answer: Hi, you may use a Medium Vacuum Bags (7.8’’ x 11.8’’) and Long Vacuum Bag Roll (7.8’’ x 79.0’’) - inches. Thank you.
Answer: I only used up to quart size but you can probably do up to a 12" width. I actually just bought another system because I had a horrible time with this one. It would seal maybe two or three bags then it would be a major battle to do more.
Q:
Can i get my money back
Answer: Follow Refund Policy which is usually posted at top of listing. It's probably returnable within 30 days.
Q:
will it work with 220 voltage?
Q:
Does it have a removeable drip tray?
Q:
I have only used the product once. it now won’t turn on at all when i plug it i any ideas before i return this? yes the outlet has power.
Answer: With the problem you are having, and the one I had, makes it clear that it is just a defective product. Your best option is to send it back.
Answer: It doesn't work. Used it once and it is broken. Very unhappy.
Answer: You might try getting ahold of the company, and they may have an idea. I dont know anything else to help you. Good luck
Answer: Please contact us at support3@nutrichefkitchen.com and we can send you a free replacement
Q:
Does this device cut the bag off of the roll after sealing?
Answer: No it does not. If using a roll, you need to manually cut the size of the bag you need, and seal one side first before continuing.
Answer: no. you have to cut your bags to size prior to sealing.
Answer: No it doesn’t cut. We have a paper cutter. We measure approximately 2” longer than the item being sealed. Then seal one end at about half inch from the edge.
Answer: No it does not
Answer: no.
Q:
Is this a channel-type sealer?
Answer: Hi, yes it is a channel type sealer. You may check other details of the unit by visiting our website pyleaudio.com. Type the model number on the search box PKVS18SL for more details. Thank you.
Answer: If you mean does the bag have to set in a channel, then yes. There was a definite learning curve for me because the bag has to be placed perfectly in the channel to properly vacuum. Took several tries to get the hang of it and still I can have issues.
Answer: my sealer was defective & I did not return in time , so my sealer doesn't seal at all
Answer: Yes it is. But it also comes with a wine stopper cork and air suction tube.
Answer: Yes it is.
Q:
what's the kpa on this machine?
Answer: Don't know what that means. Sorry
Q:
Are the bags that it comes with bpa free?
Q:
Does this unit have a removable drip tray?
Answer: Hi, it doesn't have a removable drip tray. You may check other details of the unit by visiting our website pyleaudio.com. Type the model number on the search box PKVS18SL for more details. Thank you.
Answer: It does not.
Answer: No
Answer: I DON'T KNOW I SEND IT BACK BECAUSE IT SEAL BUT DON'T VACUUM????
Answer: Yes and it works fine...
Q:
are the Wevac bags recyclable?
Answer: I don’t actually sell the bags Im selling only the product.
Answer: I but them in my recycle bin. ! ! ? ? ?
Answer: I used to be a recycling program manager and i would say no.
Answer: Kindly send us a message at support@pyleusa.com so we can help you out with your question.
Q:
Are there any sort of Tupperware containers that can be vacuum sealed with this unit?
Answer: There is a hose used for jars. There are no instructions for using "tupperware". But tupperware might make containers that can be used with the jar attachment?
Q:
Would this machine work for me to vacuum seal shelf-stable food in some sort of vacuum zipper bag? What type of zipper bag would I get to do this?
Answer: It depends on what shelf stable food. Dont know of any vacuum zipper bags, just regular zip top plastic bags. We use a heavier plastic vacuum sealer bags/roll. When we first received our vacuum sealer, we put a cup full of dog biscuits in a bag to test it out. Vacuumed sealed really great and tight. We thought about the extra box of dog biscuits in the pantry and wondered if they wouldn’t be better off vacuumed sealed because the box itself isn’t sealed as well. Anyway, you could seal pasta noodles, beans, rice, etc if you want to make sure they are fresh. Enjoy.
Answer: I would avoid this sealer. Horrible quality. As far as bags, recommend a vacuum bag. Could use zipper-style bags with the hose attachment but don’t think it would work as well.
Answer: If you have a zipper bag, why would you need a sealer? This works best with bags a bit heavier that can endure the stress of the vacuum process.
Product reviews of NutriChef PKVS Vacuum_Sealer_Machine, 12", Silver
B. Doll : Complete disappointment
While this product may actually work for dry ingredients like cereal or vegetables or meat products… In the event that there is any liquid involved… I wouldn’t even consider this unit.
Bought this unit after seeing Brad Leone’s Bon Appétit video about making fermented salsa… And figured that these vacuum sealer‘s must’ve gotten a lot better since I tried them 10 years ago and thought I would try it out since I actually watched him use it successfully on the video. I was literally following his recipe exactly… And the best review I can give of this product is that potentially I may have gotten a defective unit.
There is no way that this unit would ever even consider sealing what I was trying to seal… It only runs for about 20 seconds before it believes that it’s established some level of vacuum… And then it just seals the bag and that’s it. And the best part about it is… Even double sealed… The seal ends up failing and you’ll have salsa all over your kitchen counter.
The bad news is that I don’t have a better option for you unless you just go buy a vacuum pump and a heat sealer from some industrial supplier and just make the thing yourself. It’ll save you a ton of frustration… But if you don’t know how to do this… Then you’re kind of out of luck still. The bags are actually really cool that this company makes… But this unit is a waste of time and money to attempt to get to work. Just go bye something else that will actually close properly repeatedly and offer some potential of working correctly.
slunder : We weren't happy with it :(
We did not get good results with this model at all. We have had 3 of the FoodSaver brands and after a while they don't work, usually cannot be fixed at that point and they are expensive to replace so we decided to give this less expensive option to seal foods a try. It is not as bulky as a FoodSaver and does not even sound as rugged as the FoodSaver, almost sounds like a cheap jigsaw cutting wood LOL After attempting to seal over a dozen packages of meat and some walnuts it was very disappointing as only two of the packages actually sealed. The rest were left with air in them still because it does not seal all the way across, it leaves small quarter inch or more gaps for air to get back in (aka not getting all the air out). Returned the product and will seek a better alternative or pony up and go back to FoodSaver brand.
James Friend : Powerful vacuum sealer that's easy to use---except you have to push very hard down on the lid to close it
Started the vacuum sealing thing with a FoodSaver from Amazon, one of the highest rated ones. It lasted a few months, failed I'm sure because we made the mistake of vacuum sealing soup and had a mishap that let some of the soup into the system. A pressure valve failed inside, and since I'm handy I was hoping to replace it. Parts unavailable, even from China as individual components.
We replaced that system with a huge FoodSaver system from Costco, and that one worked all of 3 seconds vacuum sealing coffee beans before stopping to never work again. Getting the impression that these things were not made to last or be easily repairable, we looked and looked for a more reliable or at least repairable choice. Weston, more FoodSaver choices, super-expensive units, units for venison, etc etc. Chose this one based on the reviews and it produces a far stronger vacuum than the FoodSaver units. It also simply works better and is quieter. The sealing starting while the vacuum is still on helps, as does the overall simplicity of the device. It does not have built-in storage, but it's half the size of the 2420 system we had before so that's OK.
However, you really have to push down with a lot of force to close the lid, something my wife struggles to do. The twist lever system of the FoodSaver system is better, and if you have arthritis or the like this system probably isn't for you.
D. E. Pitts : Update - unit has failed after less than 1 month of occasional use.
I have noticed that there is a small bump in the heating element of the sealing bar. This causes a bubble to form in the seal. For now, it's sealing fine. This happened on my last NutriChef sealer and after about 4 months of occasional use (appx. once per week) the bump wore through the protective cover over the heating element which caused the metal sealing strip to come into direct contact with the bags. This resulted in smoking and a melted hole in the bag. I hope it doesn't happen again to this one.
UPDATE Feb 26: The unit has failed. The bump on the heating element is causing the bags to leak after sealing. I tested the seal by placing a dry sponge and a piece of paper inside the bag. After sealing, I submerged the bag. I could see wetness on the paper inside the bag next to where the bump is in the seal. I am returning the unit and requesting a replacement.
Update May 2021: My replacement unit also failed, but for a different reason. It would not change from vacuum to seal. The unit was still under warranty and was replaced. The warranty service was excellent and the new unit is working as expected.
James NYC : They won my business from "FoodSaver".. this thing is a tank, and it looks like a Maserati
I've had 2 FoodSavers FM2000 and the 4800 series. Neither of devices broke or anything. I would end up relocating or getting a new apartment, and simply leave the device with an old roommate. Its Manhattan, when you move, either take as little as you can or take everything. The Foodsaver series Vaccuum sealer was not on the list of things to keep. It was on the list of things to "order again off amazon" when you get settled.
Now in a new place, looking for the same device because i took the bag rolls (so expensive). Why i thought to leave the machine but take the bags is beyond me... 3 months later i'm looking on amazon and see the NutriChef.
things have changed, i'm running a small business (a gourmet coffee company online) i'm not just using this for my own food.. now i'm really comparing products. for at least 3 hours at work.. i'm reading each of the reviews of both systems the FoodSaver vs the NutriChef.
Based on what i read, NutriChef wins hands down.
So I ordered.
Within the first few hours of Vacuum sealing 70lbs of coffee i noticed the difference not only in the machine quality but also the bags.
the coffee beans cut through the bag and allowed air in, the ones that came with the NutriChef didn't.
The FoodSaver seemed to quit the vacuum process whenever it wanted, and would begin sealing afterwards.
The NutriChef somehow seems to perfectly measure and adapt its own timing, then slowly begin sealing WHILE its still Vacuuming. which ensures a good seal.
now i'm starring at 70lbs of coffee beans and smiling.
I cant imagine how good this thing would work for regular steaks and stuff, i put 3 hours into the machine right out of the box, and its still staring at me like "is that all you have?" if you don't believe this story, look at the pictures or look up "Empowered cup Coffee Co", we are very happy
Chuck Collison : This thing is excellent, looks excellent, works excellent.
Well, I got a real nice request from the company to review it, so here I am. This thing is excellent, looks excellent, works excellent, and is simply great. To preface all of this : I live alone, I have my own place, and I'm busy as heck most of the time. Most of the food that I wind up buying is meant for family-sized units, and unfortunately it's often cheaper for me to just eat out than it is to buy products and waste that stuff tossing it out. No longer! The first day I got this in, I popped open one of the bags (The instruction manual is simple and incredibly easy to understand), chopped up some potatoes, onions, leeks, peppers, and some other things, spiced them up, and dropped them in. 40 seconds later, I had a perfectly-sealed bag, ready to put into the freezer with zero damage to the products. No awful freezer burn, no horrible taste afterwards... A few days later I cooked up what I'd bagged, and it tasted just as good as it did the day of.
Additionally, this is a great product for those looking to make simple meals ready-to-eat for camping and emergency preparation! I took a minute late-night the other evening, popped some bandages, lighters, matches, a few accessory packets, some medical pills, and popped it all into a bag. Again, 40 seconds later, I had it air-tight, waterproof, taking up 30% less space in my bug out bag... I absolutely cannot recommend this product enough. For $50, this might be one of the best investments I've ever made.
Update
About a month later and I can safely say this thing has absolutely reimbursed my initial investment. I cannot possibly recommend this product more, this thing is an absolute life-saver.

Pineapple : Not a good product, at all!
Prior to purchasing this vacuum sealer, most reviews were excellent reviews? I have been using the food saver vacuum sealer for 6 years, but it was time to get another one. I wanted to find a vacuum sealer that didn't cost as much, maybe another brand? I purchased the Nutrichef as it was the most popular sealer that people were buying. That was a terrible vacuum sealer! It took a lot of force to set the bag and lock it in place to the machine could vacuum seal the bag. After double checking the rubber seal and resetting it back in the machine I still had to force it shut, even after flipping the rubber around. Only to find the suction was minimal and could not suck the air out of the bag unless I squeezed all the air out of the bag by hand with the motor running, then and only then did the machine started to suck the air out. When the suction started it was a weak suction and barely got the rest of the air out after I squeezed the air out by hand. The seal was ok. The next time I used the machine it wouldn't suck the air out of the bag again, so I checked the vacuum hole in the machine and there was hardly any suction from the machine. Amazon sent a second one to me hoping the first was a defective machine, but the second machine was just as bad and didn't work any better. I returned both machines to Amazon. Sorry but this is not a good sealer.
Phil : Good quality sealer for home use
So, decided I needed a vacuum sealer for packing up large packages of meats into meal size portions for freezing and keeping in the fridge. Food that is vacuum sealed stays fresh longer. I wanted something compact and store-able yet powerful enough to do the job. After looking at dozens of sealers, reading product reviews, and seeing the recommendations on the web, I decided to get this one. So far I have not been disappointed. I have vacuum sealed everything from meats to homemade pasta. You do need to make sure to press down on the sides of the lid hard enough so that it locks. Also, if you are adding liquid, say for marinading, only add a tiny bit. Too much and it will suck the liquid up, and you will have to clean up the machine. You don't need much, since it will infuse into what you are sealing. Definitely worth the money.
Mary R. Kolk : $$$ Savings You don't eat junk fast food. You seal up left overs & eat well by boiling the bag. Highly Recommend!!!
OMGosh! This vacuum sealer changed our lives!!!! First of all, it's amazing on how easily it works!!! I now make more food, we vacuum seal it and we have homemade fast food that we pull out of the freezer whenever we are in a hurry or we just don't feel like cooking that night. We boil the frozen food in the bag and that makes it even easier for us...no messy pots and pans to clean after dinner! The food tastes like I just made it!!!
If I seem enthusiastic its only because I really am. This gizzy works great. Now I do have one negative. Ahhh, I let my husband be in charge of the vacuum sealing. He did a great job but somehow he broke one of the plastic pieces that enables you to seal the device. He was so happy using that part of this vacuum sealer because the one we tried to use prior to this one, he had to hold the cover down for the duration of the sealing process. So, after using this sealer for a couple of months, he breaks that plastic piece but he doesn't know that he broke it. He tells me that it's not working and he doesn't know why. I checked it out online and as soon as I saw that there are these two pieces of plastic that lock the sealer, I went and checked our Vacuum sealer. Sure enough! One piece is slightly broken off. (Hmmmm I wonder if that piece is in anything I ate! Yikes! LOL). So now he's back to having to hold the sealer down with both hands during the sealing process. Men! Do not let some men in the kitchen...ever.
I highly recommend this product. I also recommend you are careful not to break the 2 little plastic pieces at either end underneath the top cover of the sealer. If you do, you will be joining my husband in the "I've got to hold this freaking top down to be able to seal these bags!!" club! LOL!
M&D West : Great sealer that is easy to use and powerful
I had sealer in the past, but it died awhile back. After going back and forth on a couple we decided to go with the Nutrichef sealer. It had great reviews plus had a few videos reviews that were great. It came with some per cut bags and a small roll of bags to cut to length. It also came with a wine cork stopper to vacuum the air out of the bottle so it doesn’t go flat plus it has an air hose to vacuum seal close certain Tupperware containers.
I have used this everyday for the past 5 days and I love it. It so easy to use and simple to use buttons. You can just seal the bag or you can vacuum and it automatically seals for you. At anytime while it’s vacuuming you can select the seal button and it will seal right then. You have 2 modes to chose from normal or gentle depending on what you are doing and you can pick dry or moist for the food option. If there is too much moisture it will end up sucking it up causing clog the vacuum and/ or damage the motor. You do have to push to down on both sides and hear a click to make sure the side locked in place. You can push one side down at a time if that is easier and once you done push the Buttons on both sides to unlock the sealer. When I go to use whatever I sealed shut the food is still nice and fresh plus you can use it to freeze food and not worry about it getting freezer burnt and still fresh after thawing it.
I really enjoy this sealer a lot and it’s coming in real handy. I recommend it to anyone looking for a sealer
William F. Mcgrath : A Nice Product With Poor Documentation and Limited Customer Support
I received my vacuum sealer today, unpacked it, read the directions, and gave it a test. I used one of the sample bags that came with the unit. I tried to follow the instructions, but they are not well-written and leave a number of questions unanswered. For example, if you are using a pre-formed bag, it's pretty obvious what to do, and the manual explains that well enough. However, if you wanted to use the roll of bagging material, the instructions don't say a word about how to do it. There is no discussion of how to trim what you've cut from the roll. OK, it's obvious enough that you have to use the Seal setting to close off one end of the bag you are making before inserting the food, then you would use the vacuum/seal button to evacuate your bag and seal the other end of it, but I'm sure some people will be scratching their heads. There is also a dry/moist setting, but no information about to determine whether the food you are sealing is dry or moist, or why it matters. The push-button controls are very sensitive, and you can easily turn on one of the operating modes simply by passing your finger over the button without intending to turn it on. The manual could use an English-speaking proofreader to clean up the numerous errors in the text, too.
It probably sounds like I don't like this product much, but that's not really true. It appears to be well made, and it works exactly as promised. I had no trouble sealing some steaks for a sous vide session. It is compact and won't require a lot of storage space. The vacuum pump makes a little noise, but otherwise it's silent. I bought a package of 8 inch and 11 inch rolls, so I should be all set for the foreseeable future. I would have given the product five stars, but the user's manual is too sketchy and incomplete, costing it one star.
Update: After five weeks of infrequent use, this unit died. I contacted the seller through Amazon. The seller did nothing more than send me an e-mail with the manufacturer's phone number. The manufacturer had me ship the unit to them in Brooklyn at my own expense - about $20. After about three weeks, a repaired unit was delivered, and it has worked properly now for months. Products do fail, so I guess it was my turn to get a defective unit. I'm not thrilled that I had to ship the unit to the manufacturer at my own expense, though.

First couple times I used this it performed as it should. In other words it vacuumed sealed automatically. Thereafter it would no longer vacuum and seal at the same time. The vacuum would run and run and never seal. I waited and waited, thinking maybe it just took time. After 10-15 minutes of not sealing after numerous attempts it became obvious to me that it does not work. I researched reasons why it may not be sealing (i.e. position of the bag in vacuum chamber, material or moisture along the seal point, etc., etc. But I could never get it to work again. The only option is vacuum and the seal separately, but that of course inevitably loses varying degrees of the vacuum. Then the bags started leaking in my sous vide, although I could so no reason why. So I started double-bagging. Still could not get vacuum/seal to work. It would run for minutes and occasionally it would stop, making me think it had worked. No dice, did not seal.
I've had thins thing almost six weeks and it stopped working well in the first two. I should have returned it.
ETA: I contacted the vendor DEAL GOODS six months after purchase and they replaced the unit. I believe this goes above and beyond ordinary customer service and would recommend buying from them again in the future. As to whether the replacement NutriChef Vacuum Sealer performs better than the other, only time will tell. I did note that the heating element for sealing was different. Hopefully Nutrichef fixed the defect.
Doug Smith : Short of blowing up in my face, I LOVE This Vacuum
So far, my NutriChef Vacuum Sealer is AWESOME! My previous sealer was a much older basic FoodSaver that finally no longer sucked (BTW that's a bad thing).
The NutriChef beats it in almost every way:
1. You can seal without vacuuming . . . my ears almost began to bleed with the FoodSaver when I had to make bags!
2. The unit "clicks" shut . . . My foodsaver had to be held down until the "hands Free" light came on.
2. Multiple options on vacuuming . . . gentle or standard, moist or normal. . . FoodSaver one.
4. Not as loud. I would not call it "quiet" but it is not house shaking either.
3. The best feature . . . It can pull a vacuum strong enough to crumple an empty soda can. Crushing cans is not super useful I know, but it IS Cool!
The only minor advantage my FoodSaver had over the NutriChef is that it had a removeable drip tray making it easy to clean out liquid that leaked during vacuuming. I believe their literature indicates this is a patented feature so...
To be fair, my FoodSaver was a very BASIC and quite OLD model. The new ones likely have improved. After my research here on Amazon and other places, I decided that this unit at this price point was just what I was looking for. I am very happy I chose it. However, if it flies apart into a hundred flaming pieces of shrapnel tomorrow, I WILL downgrade my review to 3 stars!! Fair warning.

Chimp Chimperson : It works (mostly).
I've never used a vacuum sealer, before, so it is impossible to compare. But, on the most fundamental level, it works. It wasn't entirely easy to figure it out, though. The included "directions" are poorly written and not very helpful. But, with some trial and error, I was able to figure it out. Not EVERY attempt at vacuum sealing was successful. Some didn't seem to want to remove ALL air from package. Others didn't seal tight. But, with practice, I was able to refine my technique and reduce the percentage of failed attempts (and wasted bags). I'm sure that, over time, my opinion will become more refined, but at this point. I could go either way. I'm pleased that, at very least, it does what it is supposed to do, most of the time. Only time and further experience using the unit will tell if I will be more or less satisfied.
ej_sevilla : Less than a month and the machine is malfunctioning.
Got this to replace a food saver we lost while moving. At first it was great and for the price I thought it was a great deal. But not even a month into using it and the machine works so inconsistently it gives me a headache trying to get it to work. Sometimes it will vacuum just a little bit of air out and then seal. So I tried to check if any moisture or fold were in the way.... nothing. Then other times it would vacuum just right.... and then the seal would be incomplete. Like only part way through. Again checking for moisture, obstructions, and even wiping down the heating element. Still didn't work right. Even tried hitting seal twice and it didnt seal correctly. What's worst is that I vacuum sealed some steaks in the fridge to use throughout the week and didnt notice the seal was not complete. I came back to the food bag puffed out with air and the steaks with a weird odor. Wish I would have just put down more money for another food saver.
Ian : Idk... maybe I'm still doing it wrong but I've been having problems.
I may need to update this review later if the problems I've been having are user error and not with the product, but I've been having an extremely difficult time getting this machine to consistently work for me. At least 1/2 items I try to vac seal either don't vac seal correctly and I'm forced to try again... and again. Biggest troubles I've been having:
1) Using the moist setting, I try to vac seal chicken, or kidney beans from a can, or diced tomatoes, and the machine sucks the moisture up causing the area where it should seal to become wet and therefore not seal. So when I press the vac & seal button, it doesn’t suck out air and never shuts off (I end up having to shut it off manually before it ever gets to seal... I've allowed it to continue for up to 5 minutes before and it seems like it would just keep running forever but without doing anything if I didn't hit stop).
2) Seems to have vac sealed but then fills back up with air shortly after.
Note: I have been making sure I hear 2 clicks when locking the top down before starting the machine. I've also been very careful to make sure the bag is placed correctly.

Vermillion : It WORKS!
This purchase makes my second vacuum sealer, and there is a world of difference between the two. Both are simular small models, but the old one filled me with anxiety when I would use it because of several issues. The Nutrichef is what a vaccuum sealer should be. My number one releaf came when I opened it. The Nutrichef is easy to open with the release buttons on each side, whereas the old one requiring me to push down hard on each side, (usually several hard pushes were required to get it to unlock). It does take a bit of pressure to close, about equal to my old one. My old one was very difficult to get it to create the vacuum. It would take many repositionings to create the vaccuum. On my first attempt with the Nutrichef, I saw the bag collapse around my food as the air was expelled - and then it sealed. Then on each of the next 23 packages of food I made, I had no issues! The size of the Nutrichef is compact it fits in my cabinet without making new wonder "is it worth the lost space? " I have not used the extras that came with it. The cork for wine bottles looks really good, and I am sure it will do the job. I don't own a vacuum container, so I can't comment on that. I am very happy I ordered the PYLE NUTRICHEF VACUUM SEALER. I can't imagine you will not be pleased. It is a great value, especially for the price.
Nevin McConnell : tl;dr: Burns through plastic and allows air into the vacuum, but you can workaround it. #annoying
tl;dr: This product works, but you have to work around it's flaws. I was going to give a one-star review until I stumbled upon a trick that actually created a seal (described below).
Flaws:
• The 'Seal' button initiates a heating sequence that is flawed, burning through the plastic and making a vacuum impossible. I've tried two of the top rated vacuum bags on Amazon (links below)
Explanation: I put in a bag and try to create a seal (by pressing the Seal button) before adding food. When I press that button, the heating element applies an inconsistent amount of heat across the width of the bag, burning through the plastic in a few locations, and allows air to flow slowly (see picture). In picture there is a side-by-side comparison of me trying to vacuum pack some coffee beans. The one attached to the vacuum sealer just completed the process, the one by it's side was sitting for a few minutes and lost it's vacuum.
Workaround:
• For some reason, choosing vacuum + seal (pressing the Vac-Seal button), the device sucks out all air and then creates a seal properly, holding the vacuum. So for me, I must always use the Vac-Seal button (which is workable as long as you have 3 sides of the bag already sealed, and you can actually apply a vacuum).
Notes:
• I've used two of the top rated vacuum bags here on Amazon:
and
And both show the same symptoms. Pretty sure it's not the bag, given that the problem follows the button I press (Seal broken, Vac+Seal works).
• I'm also aware of their requirements to let the temperature cool down before applying another seal, and have done this repeatedly to double check how my sealer works (or doesn't work)
Ugh, annoying.
Diane : Love this!
I love this! Vacuum sealed several things this morning and it's very slick and easy. I like to buy bulk meat and divide it up for meals, and vacuum seal. Also nice to vacuum seal leftovers for the freezer. I did half an acacdo four days ago, and it still looks like the first day I opened it! Quiet, too, unlike some others I've had. One word of caution...in the beginning I thought it wasnt working, but it was because you have to adequately snap down the two front corners on it. Also, I don’t like the bags at all that you can purchase for it. I pitched them. I only use the FoodSaver brand and I get them at Bed Bath and Beyond with a 20% coupon
Carlette C. : Initially I didn't like the machine because it left a lot of air ...
Initially I didn't like the machine because it left a lot of air in the first few seals. After reviewing, and locating a video on YouTube, I noticed I was putting the bag too far in the machine and therefore covering the vacuum hole. After figuring this out, life became MUCH easier. I haven't had a chance to use the vacuum hose but currently, it is doing the job I purchased it for...sealing and preserving my food! Since I am now an avid air fryer user, this is a MUST HAVE!
Daniel : Are all the good reviews reliable?
I ordered this product because it had favorable customer ratings. The product seems to work well for the price but I have only used it once. The real test will be to see how it does in the long run . I was disappointed with their marketing strategy - included with this product was a flyer saying they would give away free vacuum bags for "eligible "customers who left a product review. within 30 days of purchase I'm wondering now if that is why so many positive reviews were written. Perhaps customers were more anxious to get their free vacuum bags than they were to o really write a honest review. How can you tell in just 30 days anyways?. I hope I will still get my free bags. I'll keep you posted if that happens or not.
M. Charles : Great looking, difficult to get to work vacuum sealer
Great looking sealer.
Review is based on having tried sealing with different vacuum sealer bags from other manufacturers as well as those supplied.
Unfortunately, very difficult to use and does not function in same manner as typical sealer (on a typical sealer, insert the bag into the vacuum chamber, close the panel, press the button, and you get a vacuum sealed bag). On this model, because the pump does not appear particularly powerful, you have to make certain the side latches are pressed in. If you don't, there is no vacuum seal. I suspect many of the complaints are based on this (instruction manual does not mention that latch buttons have to be pushed in for the vacuum function to work).
Seal function buttons are on the top, and because of their sensitivity, very easy to mistakenly press seal rather than vacuum seal button so that bag gets sealed, but not vacuum sealed.
On the bag side, although claiming it can use any vacuum sealer bags, what is really meant is that it can use any small sized vacuum sealer bags. Because of smaller vacuum size, it takes some doing to get bag properly smoothed out so that seal function works.
Vacuum sealed bags appear less able to keep vacuum than other vacuum sealers.
Customer service is very hard to get, but when you do, they try to help. I get the impression from the contacts that the so-called service department is a two person stereo store in Brooklyn, and that as importers of this product, they are responsible for service.
For a time Amazon cut off reviews on this product because of the inclusion of a flier with the sealer stating that if one gave a favorable review, one would receive vacuum sealer bags. You might wish to consider the reviews with this in mind.
H. Landry : Bad Apple; Great Company
Purchased Sept of 2018.
When this worked, I had no problem with it. It seemed to do it’s job pretty well. The problem began when the function lights on the lid would go off-and-on depending on what position you held the lid. Fully closed and it wouldn’t work, so that means no function.
Since I didn’t send it the warranty card, I felt there was no way I was going to bother to try a replacement or a repair through the manufacturer. So I opened it. I discovered that the wire that feeds the the lid (see photos) was being slowly severed by the action of opening and closing the top. Which is why at certain positions, the lights would still come on. This is bad engineering. I will attempt to find this part (flat wire). I also invite the manufacturer to comment on this, so check back and see if they care.
Update; Just saw this response on October 29th, 2020. At the time I figured pursuing a warranty replacement would just lead to a lot of frustration. I think in the future it would be nice if;
"Amazon would have alerted me via email that I had had a manufacturer response"
Will try and contact the manufacturer to see if this offer is still available. Since they at the time offered a replacement, I feel it is just right that I at least add two stars to my old review
Update 2; the wire problem I thought I fixed is now affecting the start button under the lid, but NutriChef in the meantime did contact me and is now sending a replacement
I think we all have to understand that occasionally electronics fail, a 'bad apple' if you will. This appears to be one of them. But when the manufacturer backs that up with excellent replacement service, then you can't go wrong. Plus, even though this unit had problems, I was still going to get another one since I feel this is the best choice out there
Music lover : Takes some practice and effort
When I first used the machine, I was surprised how much pressure that I need to engage the lock (two clicks mentioned in the manual). The top surface is plastic and I really don't want to crush it at my first use. So it has some anxiety moment to figure out why it does not lock. I thought it was defective until I finally put my whole weight on it and it was locked immediately. I like the fact that this way the bag edge is pressed firmly before seal. I just wish the start-up guide tells us the amount of effort that may be needed.
I used it to seal my coffee beans and the suction and seal seem to be appropriate. It will need extra few inches bag clear with any object inside before it can be sealed. I wish that clearance can be shorter to save bag material. In my application for small amount of beans, about 50% bag is wasted.
Other than those, it works great and take little space to store!
The warranty service was excellent and the new unit is working as expected.
saltytoast : Works well, instructions need improvement
Have had this a couple of weeks now and have used it to freeze 30 lbs of green beans, a loaf of pumpkin bread and some sub buns. The vacuum sealer works very well-- a little too well in the case of the green beans--it sucked the little bits of water right off the beans and then wouldn't seal--didn't matter if we used dry or moist settings. We figured out that after the usual blanching, cooling and draining steps, spreading the beans out on clean dish towels for 30 min to an hour to dry helps, then when vacuum sealing, we hit the seal button at the first sign of water being sucked up toward the edge of the bag. This worked!!! Gentle setting worked great for bread and rolls. Overall, I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because instructions were pretty general. Would have helped to provide more detailed instructions for different types of foods, e.g. blanched vegetables. We had to do some experimenting to figure it out, and I would hesitate to use it on truly moist foods such as soups and stews. I would freeze these first in another container until solid, then pop out and vacuum seal.

There's common knowledge in the sous vide community that until you're ready for a chamber vacuum sealer, you should just get the cheapest regular vacuum sealer you can find. I decided to buck this trend given the stellar reviews on this model, which I later realized were because the seller gives out free goodies if you leave a review.
Let's go through the pros and cons shall we?
Pros:
1. nothing
Cons:
1. The overflow trough cannot be removed. It is also extremely shallow. It is also, get this, situated at an angle. These features combined means the trough designed to catch overflowing fluids spills after maybe a tablespoon of liquid.
2. The buttons are not buttons, they are capacitative sensors. They have no feedback and will activate with the slightest touch, so during normal handling of the device you can easily set them off
3. The various modes do almost nothing
4. The included accessory attachment is extremely short and does not fit foodsaver attachments, not that I expected it to. It can be shimmed with a bit of tape, however.
Seriously, just buy a save-a-meal or a foodsaver, don't waste your money on this garbage. Now, where's my free goodie bag
Mckenzie : Great buy! Easy to use!
Loving this! I've used it for raw fresh deer meat, rotisserie chicken leftovers, and dehydrated deer meat. It works well and is super easy to set up and use. Some need to know tricks for wet meat/items (in no particular order):
1. drain off as much juice as possible
2. pat it dry
3. hold the bag below the vacuum sealer so that gravity takes effect and the juice stays below the sealer, and more air gets sucked out.
4. You can also semi freeze the meat for 30 minutes to an hour depending on amount, and then seal the bag. This way the juices are frozen and won't try to suck to the top
5. Put the bag in a large mason large or bowl and fold the top 3-4 inches of the bag over the jar or bowl before putting wet items in, then after the bag is full, take it out and fold the bag back to normal. This prevents moisture from touching the end that you seal.
You don't want moisture at the sealing end of your bag at all! Happy vacuum sealing everyone!
Lynne Ahearn : perfect
had one years ago different brand and it pooped out about a year old. bought another and it too died in a year or two other brand was at least 3 x the price. So far I have used it for soups to be frozen, bulk chicken, beef shrimp. In this pandemic it is nice to buy a few packages of meats portion and seal properly so I can extend the shelf life without freezing and properly prepare more for the freezer knowing it will be protected and freeze well. Now that is harder and harder to find ground beef, I am glad I have a few pounds of frozen burgers I can pull out in a few weeks when I am tired of eating beans and fish
sometimes when it doesn't suck well, you have to reposition the bag in the vacuum chamber but then it is amazing. I sucked so much air out of some grated cheese it looked like it had never been grated. I had to grate it again but it stayed fresh in the packaging for more than a month before I pulled it out. It would have been green had it not been vacuum sealed.
Kayo : After a year I felt I needed to write a review because I almost gave product 1 star
This is a nice sealer the wet/ dry, normal suction and gentle for items like rolls is very helpful after a year the sealer is still going strong. The only setback is you have to be careful your hand or finger touch the seal button while the sealer is in the Vac/Seal mode. Hold and move the unit around by holding the sides. The buttons are very sensitive you only have to tap them I believe it is important to say if you believe there is a problem because there is no suction or bags seal before all the air is removed - the problem may not be with the sealer the problem may might be the bags Sweet Alice Vacuum Sealer Bag Rolls 4 mil Embossed Commercial Grade, Vac YaYa and Food Saver and Seal a Meal bags work without a problem. I have had nothing but problems with AVID ARMOR sometimes the bags work sometimes they don't I have gone through bag after bag. I got so frustrated I threw (yes threw) the sealer in the trash and started looking for a new sealer. It was a good thing also bought 1-pint Vac YaYa bags something told me to try them first - they worked like a charm, then I tried out a third band - a roll it also worked perfectly. I toyed to buy a second sealer for the AVID ARMOR bags. I bought 200 bags but I thought what is the bags don't work with the new sealer so I requested a refund. So, before you return or throw out the sealer try bags from another company. I almost threw out a perfectly functioning sealer. I am glad I bought this sealer.

It is a great value, especially for the price.
kailah_marie : Nutrichef does not on warranty with products bought on Amazon
UPDATE: DO NOT BUY! Nutrichef does not honor manufacturer warranty through items bought on Amazon. Filing a report with the BBB. Will NEVER buy from Nutrichef again.
REVISED: Have this little guy for less than six months. Haven't used it all that much but maybe once every couple of months to seal a couple of pounds of meat and a few bags of dehydrated jerky. Today, it pooped out on me in the middle of sealing some seasoned pork. It won't vacuum that air anymore. Calling support to see if I have lost my money on this or if they will honor the warranty.
I love this little sealer. But I don't like the cutter. A bit more of a hassle to use that blade and I can't seem to cut straight lines. I use scissors instead. Overall, it's a nice little machine for the cost. Use it to sterilize syringes for mycology purposes. I cut the bags into little 3” x 6” bags and sealed each side. The seals held very well under high pressure cooker conditions for 30 minutes. I haven't tried sealing anything wet yet. So far I am very pleased with my purchase.
Chryso : A bit of a pain, but does the job
This review is based on one extended use, to vacuum seal 20lbs of fresh peaches, frozen and sliced.
CONS:
— The lid is a pain to lock. (There is a locking mechanism on the two front corners.) I can’t simply press or even lean on each corner to lock it. I have to actually pick up each corner and squeeze the top and bottom together very tightly with both hands while simultaneously making sure the bag stays in place. If not for this ridiculous problem, it would be a decent gadget.
— It feels cheap and plastic-y, doesn’t feel like it will stand up to the vigorous handling required to lock the lid in place. Here’s hoping it lasts more than a few uses.
PROS:
— Although I struggled with each and every bag to lock the lid, it finally did the job. I now have 20lbs of vacuum sealed peaches in my freezer.
—I like the roll of bagging material. Yes, you have to cut the bag to the size you prefer, then seal one end, then fill the bag, then seal the other end. It may seem like a lot of steps, but it’s worth it to me. I like having larger bags for baking and small pouches for a smoothie or snacking.
NOTES:
I froze the sliced peaches first on a cookie sheet, then placed frozen peaches in bags to seal. It worked great while the peaches were fully frozen.
Because the peaches were rock hard and not wet, I tried the “dry” setting first. Wrong! That did not work at all. On “moist,” it worked like a charm. Fully vacuumed and sealed.
The suction worked best while the peaches were frozen. Once they started to thaw, juice was sucked out the open edge and the seal didn’t function properly. I wiped the excess juice off the machine and edges of the bag and re-sealed the bag with no problem. The fix, of course, was to work with fewer frozen peaches at a time. A better fix, dear manufacturer, would be a lid that locks in place easily so I could work more quickly, then the peaches would not have time to thaw.
The roll of bagging material that comes in the box was not quite enough for 20lbs of peaches. If you have a lot of freezing to do like I did, order extra rolls from the start.
The product gets three stars because it’s so difficult to lock. If locking was easy, I’d give it four stars, possibly five.
Gary R. Morrison : Does not work
I ordered this one to replace another brand that broke. I attempted to package 15 packages tonight. The first seal failed on about half of them and I could not complete the vacuum pack. On close examination, there appears to be a bubble/imperfection in the seal.
Also, the product is not stable and tends to tip when you raise the lid. I cannot recommend this one and will search for a replacement.
Melly5886 : Works Great! Looks pretty!
Wow! I’ve never owned one of these and was weary of purchasing one. I did a lot of research and saw online video reviews and this one caught my attention for the price and sleek look. Eventually I made my purchase, it arrived nicely packaged and it’s online looks did not disappoint. It looks nice and sleek on my counter top and is super lightweight (something I did not expect). The instructions were so easy to read and it was a simple plug and start. The first thing I did was salmon, it vacuumed it and sealed it beautifully. I will freeze some and make some at the end of the week and post an update to see how the salmon held up. I was able to do 5 packages without any issues. The buttons are sensitive and I did hit it by accident when trying to close it so just be mindful of your fingers, aside from that I had zero issues.
Sovi : WORST WARRANTY-BE WARE DO NOT BUY BEFORE READING THIS
ZERO stars for this PYLE product’s warranty. If your unit is past 30 days of purchase and it breakes... then bot only do you have to pay for shipping to send them the unit but to receive it back. BE WARE OF WARRANTY before you purchase this unit. THIS IS A PYLE PRODUCT AND THEIR LIMITED WARRANTY IS GARBAGE. They only want more money and don’t really care about their customers. Buy from somewhere else.
Diane from the Bay Area : Loved it--until it stopped working
This is my second food sealer. I wish I still had the first one. Here are my thoughts about what I thought was an upgrade in design and function:
PRO: It is sleek, good-looking and takes up very little counter space.
CON: Because it takes up so little space, I can no longer store a roll of bag material in it. Now I have to drape the roll over the outside of the machine and hold onto it while cutting, instead of pulling out a length from the storage area. Several of my bags were cut awkwardly on the new machine.
CON: I can't leave this unit plugged in. It is ridiculously sensitive and would start the running the vacuum/sealing function if I put something down on the counter in front of it.
PRO: When it worked, it worked beautifully. It is noisy, but much quieter than my old food sealer.
PRO: (I thought!) It toggles between dry and moist settings. Sealing bags of meat was always a challenge with my old sealer. I had to watch carefully to prevent juices from seeping into the machine and ruining it. I actually had to wrap meat in plastic wrap before bagging it and sealing it.
CON: I used the moist setting for the first time yesterday, after six months of ownership. Guess what? Juices from the ground beef seeped into the unit and ruined it.
I have owned this unit just over six months and probably got ten or so uses out of it. I will not buy from this brand again.
Microfinish Employee : Mostly good.
I don't have a lot to compare this to, as the only other food sealing device with which I personally have experience is the fm4440 I got for my grandmother this past Christmas. However, I was sufficiently impressed with its functionality to turn my attention to what appears to be amongst the best sealers available for about half that price. Perhaps there is more reason than branding.
As much as I wanted to leave a gleaming five star review after the first 30 days of using this device, I now cannot. Put plainly, my attachment hose has broken. Obtaining a replacement has proven as yet problematic. Aside from the hose breaking, and (unlike foodsaver) replacement hoses being something PYLEUSA does not make commercially available, the sealer is amazing. I don't have a good way to test this, but I think it may provide a stronger vacuum than the foodsaver brand sealers. Until the hose breaks, it functions flawlessly with foodsaver brand attachments and accessories such as the containers, Ziploc style bags, and my personally most used, the jar sealers. (Both regular and wide mouth). This sealer is so good, that despite the issues I'm having replacing the hose, I'd still recommend it. I'd just also recommend you treat the hose like porcelain, and bear in mind that SoundAround support will jerk you back and forth for about a week before finally admitting the "free" replacement is going to run you $8, and for no amount of money may you possess an additional back up. It's simply not available.
I have included a close up of the cracked end of the hose, attached too the unit. The rubber band shown is holding the crack until I can get a replacement.
Get the Best : won't work for 11" bag
What I don't like about:
Max Width of bags: It doesn't seal 11" bag. 8" bags are included, that means 8" would be the max width?
Free bags after registering: "Register your product for a 1 yr warranty within 7 days and get 2 free vacuum sealer rolls" Are they going to mail me those automatically?
The thickness of the bags included in the box: It is very thin.
To compare with my other vacuum sealer, the heating strip doesn't seem to be hot enough, maybe it is not for heavy duty bags?
The psi is little more than my mini sealer with no brand name that I bought form Amazon. The $30 mini sealer works great for 6" width bags, takes longer for 8", and won't work for 11". I thought this one does vacuum seal 11", but not.
What I like about:
The design, size and weight. it is easy to store and not heavy.
It requires little effort to lock the lid, I have to grab and squeeze.
What I like about:
JWINK : Good budget level vacuum sealer
The sealer (I got the silver color) includes, a manual, a wine stopper cork, 5 medium vacuum bags (78 x 118 inches) and one larger bag roll (78 x 790 inches). Not really sure why a wine cork is included, but ok. The instructions also could be a bit better as well.
I got this as a gift for a relative for the holiday as this seemed like a reasonably priced sealer at 50 bucks. Granted, this sealer won’t match the features and quality of higher end versions as you could easily spend a few hundred bucks for the pro-grade versions.
Quality is pretty good for this sealer, considering the price. It is solid and well made and fairly easy to use. The soft touch buttons are labeled well and easy to read and operate. The buttons are a bit sensitive though and are easy to accidently change.
This doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of all the high-end versions, but this does have a dry/moist option for sealing a variety of food.
Extra bags for this are reasonably priced as well and make this an economical way to preserve food, which lasts longer than just in bags or containers.
Overall, for the price, this is a good quality vacuum sealer.
Pros:
Reasonable price
Easy to use
Decent quality for price
Seals pretty well
Replacement bags are reasonable price
Helps preserve food for longer periods
Compact, lightweight
Cons:
Buttons a bit sensitive
A basic model, Not feature rich
Bags can sometimes be problematic to seal
Needs better instructions
Only a 1-year warranty
Unknown long-term reliability
4 stars
Masta Qui : Amazing - Tips included if you're not a full included pamphlet reader
I've always wanted one and this exeeded expectations.
I was under the impression, from the images, that it had buttons. To my surprise, the buttons are just as touch sensitive as the Google keyboard I'm using on my phone to write this review.
I've always been curious about how these devices worked. There is a small learning curve of about 3 attempts, but that's just to get an idea of how much of a gap you need between the item in the bag and the end of the bag. The instructions are straight-forward but do omit that you need about an inch or so of a gap.
Last thing you want to do is put items in the bag and it ends up not being enough space. But that just takes 1 failure to perfect sealing.
One last more than Worthy of mentioning item is that is does have a few combinations of types of items being put in so that's good, but there's also two options on sealing.
There's "Seal" & "Vac Seal"
Seal is for sealing without the need to vacuum (cut a piece off the roll and need to seal one side before sealing the opposite side, in which would then vac seal)
And Vac Seal is the combination of vacuuming and then sealing. The key note for Vac Seal is that it will make the vacuuming sound, and then silently seal (all sealing is slient). So, after the vacuuming sound stops, pay attention to seal button to turn off. I prematurely open it before realizing that the sealing happens after the vacuuming sound and not during.
That may be somewhere in the instructions, but I'm that dude lol
Hans : Failed after three months, no warranty. Worked well for a while.
This is a good little machine but after only three months and despite careful cleaning it won't pull a full vacuum anymore and there's no warranty.
Except for that, Ms. Lincoln, how was the play?
It has an authoritative-sounding pump and on the moist setting makes an especially solid seal. This is my third vacuum sealer and although I would like it if the drip tray could be removed for cleaning, it’s the best so far.
There are two problems to be aware of:
When the sealing bar gets hot from sealing one bag after another, it is already hot when you close the machine. The bag is partially sealed before the vacuum pump kicks in so it never has a chance to get the air out. Open up the machine and stick it in the refrigerator for a while.
When the sealing process finishes there is no audible signal. You have to watch the indicator lights to see when they all go out. These are tiny little LEDs and difficult to see in bright light. I had problems at first putting in a new bag before the old one had finished.
