Answer: Yes, it comes with a owners manual which shows functions and maintenance of the dehydrator. It also came with a small 10 page recipe book..
Answer: No it does not come with one. All you have to adjust is the time and temperature for the meat you are dehydrating. And I basically learned how to use it from Beef Jerky Recipes from the net. Its pretty much set it and forget it kinda machine. Hope this helps.

Answer: I am very upset to find out this item actually has a harmful chemical know to cause cancer. The manual has two big WARNINGS in the SAFETY FIRST section (page 7) which state that "this product contains a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer." And another warning that states that "this product contains a chemical known to the State of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm."

Answer: The trays would only allow very small items to fall through. I would think you could use parchment paper with food that small. I have only used mine for venison jerky and the trays worked fine.
Answer: Parchment paper should work. There are reusable mats available, I have used these when drying berries or making spicy chickpeas; they are also useful to make fruit leathers.
Answer: You can use parchment paper and it will not call through. The openings on the tray aren't that big since its meant to hold meats and cut up fruit.

Answer: very easy, now don't forget they are plastic so don't use high heat dry, I wash them by hand in the sink then run them with hot water in the dishwasher. I own two of these now and I'm a clean and sterile freak due to homebrewing and making persevered foods. Hope this helps ya, sanitization is a very big factor in home brewing and dehydrating

Answer: It only goes to 158 but their directions say after the required time, to remove jerky and put into a preheated 250-275 degree Oven for 10 mins and then return to dehydrator trays to cool completely. Hope this is helpful.

Answer: It's really just a fan. You could stick a kebob skewer or something in the fan to stop it from turning if you wanted to and I imagine it would work fine. It does have a temp sensor so I suppose the heating element would turn off nd and on as the temperature warranted.
Answer: Use your oven. Tempeh only needs about 12 hrs above 70 degrees, and then it heats itself.oven with light and a digital probe thermometer will do it.

easy of use is perfect. 10 hour start time is great the heat control is usable and easy to understand and read. The drying racks are easy to install and use. the dehydrated product need to be turned half way into the 10 hour cycle and turns out perfect. It is quite and the drip pan is easy to install and pull out for quick and easy clean up. the drying racks are dish washer safe with not heat and use cool to cold setting. My 12 year old uses the product to dry her cinnamon ornaments for Christmas and they turned out perfect. thank you for creating this dehydrator for family use. Oh and the jerky my son has made in it turned out great!.

I really do love this dehydrator but couldn't give it 5 stars because of the trays. I just finished loading 7 trays with beef jerky and the trays are just a fraction too narrow so the weight makes them collapse. It's very frustrating to put one tray in, then a second and have them all collapse when you put in a third. Putting in 7-8 trays is next to impossible when they all start collapsing on each other. I have tried to find additional trays since I believe I just got a bad batch but have been unable to locate any.
But, as far as the dehydrator goes, it it wonderful and does an excellent job. I love being able to adjust the time and temperature. Overall it is the best one I have ever used.

I unpacked this baby and immediately began a multi-day tomato drying project. It worked great! It takes about 16 hours to dry with every rack full, which I thought was pretty good. I have since dried fruit, spices and other veggies in it. It was a great harvest tool. Also is quiet enough to run inside, though I usually dry on the porch. Cleans up easily and seems like the trays are sturdy. A friend who has a more expensive dryer was impressed with the clear front door.

I'm glad I got this one with 9 drying trays. Drying zucchini for flour. Takes 4 to make a cup so I needed to do volume. To it off my zuks are the size of a woman's firearm with all the rain we are getting.

For 3d printers, the dirty little secret is that most filaments are hygroscopic, that is they absorb water from the atmosphere and this causes problems when printing. One part of dealing with this is to have a controllable low-temp oven to gently dry out the filament without getting it hot enough to soften and fuse together into an unusable mass. (Ask me how I know this) This unit is large enough to hold multiple rolls at once, has digital controls for heat and for run time. After using for a couple of months now I'm very happy with it's performance and ease of use.

Just not quite enough umph for complete drying. Some veggies at high temperatures took a VERY long time to dry. Good unit as far as easy of use and sturdiness. May just be an air circulation issue. Trays on the bottom would have to be rotated to finish.

I really like this dehydrator. However, I did not realize until my third time that there is a piece of cardboard packaging in the back of the trays. Thank goodness it did not cause a fire but did a fine job dehydrating my chicken strips anyway. I like the square trays for the chicken strips.

Works great and easy to use. 4 stars because the temperature setting goes from 113 to 122. 118 would be nice. Apparently anything above 118 is where enzymes are lost. Dehydrating at 113 takes a long time. That 5 extra degrees would help a lot. But I’m stuck at 113 and a longer time. Other than that I like it.

I think that this dehydrator is really good value for money. I love that you're able to change the temperature, and that there's a timer. I also like that the dehydrator switches itself off when it's timed out - a very practical feature. There's also lots of space, so it fits a lot of food.
The only feature I don't like so much is that it isn't possible to include the temperature in increments of just one degree at a time - instead it only allows you to increase it several degrees at a time.

Love this thing. I dehydrate all our fruits left over from our farmers markets. I’m dehydrators run 24/7. I usually pick up the old school ones from goodwill, which are all still running great, but I wanted something bigger and not round. I’m use to paying $5 for my dehydrators because I’m a cheap ass, but thought I would treat myself to a new one. I did my research and choose this one. It’s twice as fast as the 8 other ones I have and I don’t have to rotate trays halfway thru. It seems to hold alittle more then my round ones. I don’t really care for the hard plastic trays because things have a tendency to get stuck and it’s hard to get the small pieces off so I ended up with a lot of smaller ripped Apple circles verses the flexiable plastic that you can bend to pop pieces off. So I still use my other dehydrators for the sticker fruits. It is a big box on your counter, so it’s not a space saver. It’s not like you can stick it in a corner and it will blend in. Overall I’m happy with it but I haven’t ran it long enough to know how durable it will be. My goodwill ones are all over 5-6 years old and are running strong so I’m curious to see if this “new” technology will last just as long

So far I've dehydrated pineapple, strawberries, mango, apples, and bananas. It's all turned out delicious! So happy I got the 9 tray model because I can do bulk loads. My family gobbles it up so fast I really make use of those 3 extra trays. Love the easy use. The presets make things really easy. I just push the power button and let it go.

Troy : All kitchens should have a dehydrator. This is the one we use.
It has a permanent spot on the kitchen counter. I don't use it every day, but when it's needed, I love having it right where I can use it immediately. I used it yesterday to dehydrate the leaves from celery that I'd often throw away in the past. I added the dehydrated leaves to a blender to pulverize, then added them to my ongoing Vegetable Stock Powder blend that I handily keep tucked away in the herb and spice cabinet. I use this to flavor things such as rice, roasted potatoes, soups, sauces, etc. it's constantly changing, depending on what I dehydrate and pulverize, such as carrot, bell peppers, tomatoes, onions, garlic, kale, spinach, etc.
Another fantastic use for this unit is crisping homemade crackers. After going through the trouble of baking off a batch, there isn't the level of snap to my crackers that I prefer, since we have an old oven that came with the house. It doesn't have the convection fan that modern ovens are equipped with. This is the next best thing! Just transfer the crackers, croutons or chips to the dehydrator to further remove any remaining moisture, and voila! Nice and crunchy.
I haven't used it to proof bread dough yet, but I've heard it's good for that as well.
Dehydrated mushroom powder tastes amazing as a finishing touch to the top of Alfredo sauce.
I've also made my own garlic and onion powders. It stinks up the house but it's worth it!
I've dehydrated tater tots to make them shelf stable for camp breakfast hash browns.
Frozen bags of mixed vegetables are great to have on hand, as well. You don't have to worry about freezer burn before you use them up. I especially love dehydrated corn.
The only cons I see is that I have to vacuum clean the bottom out from time to time because food dust gets in between the crevices down there. That, and it isn't in the ideal range to do jerky, from what I've read. I really wish it was.

This Item was amazing, I used it to make Beef Jerky. This Dehydrator has many trays allowing me to make more jerky at the same time. The temperature was perfect I didn't have to switch the trays from top to bottom like I did on my old dehydrated allowing for even drying. It looks nice overall its not loud at all and the food comes out just perfect. I would definatly recommend this Dehydrator to a friend. I was very pleased with this purchase.

I really like this dehydrator. However, I did not realize until my third time that there is a piece of cardboard packaging in the back of the trays. Thank goodness it did not cause a fire but did a fine job dehydrating my chicken strips anyway. I like the square trays for the chicken strips.

I got Gourmet's more basic food dehydrator a few years ago, and it has worked well, but I wanted to upgrade from the stacking cylinders to an actual box unit. (Rest assured, my previous dehydrator has been adopted into a new home where it will continue to be loved.) I haven't had much chance to use the new one yet, aside from drying some thyme for me, and catnip for my cat who prefers it to the fresh stuff, but so it goes. I'm happy to have a faster and more efficient dehydrator, and as soon as I get some more fine mesh trays and silicon mats, I have dreams of making some jerky, and lots of fruit leather as a way to preserve some of my yearly harvest.

we've had this for about 5 days and have dehydrated citrus, bananas, plums, mangoes and kiwi, among many others. its a great tool for preparing snacks for the week ahead or for a camping trip. its easy to use and to keep clean.
the recipe book included isnt very extensive but its easy to find recipes online that include suggested time & temp. often recipes will state a temperature different than the presets but i havent had any issue with just choosing the closest setting. it just affects the time it takes to dry.

Used this to dehydrate apricots from the 7 trees I have. So easy, so good! Is quick and quiet and doesn’t put off much heat.

As other reviewers had mentioned I ended up with plastic walls bowing out and all my racks falling on top of each other. I used it 12-15 times since I purchased it. I can't imagine someone could use this unit longer than that due to the fact it's plastic and no matter what it would expand. I only dried fruits (apple, pears and mangoes) and used the default settings (default temp and 10-12 hours of running time). All these 5 stars reviews probably come from people who never used dehydrators before, used it once or twice, amazed by how tasty fruits/veggies/jerky become (it really does a good job while it lasts) and then put this thing into their closets. It won't last if you need to dry every 1-2-3 weeks.

Immediately upon receiving the unit, we washed the trays and got busy using it! It has pretty much ran non stop ever since. We have a large garden with lots of produce coming off every day. It keeps us busy but thank God we have this dehydrator. We could use another one easily enough. Have had no issues with it. Works like a charm, even though it hasn't stopped for very long at all for almost a week now. Very happy with this product and the price. Also, the shipping was very fast. Glad for that!! Only one complaint that my wife has. The booklet that comes with it doesn't tell temperature AND time for the various fruits and veggies. That would be helpful.

Best ever! I love this machine!! Makes the absolute best fruits and veggies... I eat raw and this machine does such a nice job. Low temps are perfect. Easy to change the temps and times... the only wish is that the buzzer for the timer could be lower in sound or wish there was an option to not have it buzz. it is loud. But I love my gourmia!!! They provide one perforated mat for things that could fall through the open shelves and i wish it came with more than one... but none of the dehydrators do... so it’s hard for me to complain... i love it! Thank you!

I'm a cookie artist and I use dehydrators to dry the icing on my cookies in between stages of decorating. This is a pricier machine than the other dehydrators I own but it's worth every cent. I love that it has 9 trays, I love how easy it is to slide the trays in and out of the machine (a plus while I'm decorating), I love how quiet it is compared to my other models, and it fits beautifully in my workspace. It works perfectly for the purpose that I bought it for, my icing dries quickly has a nice shine. I'm very happy with my purchase.

For 3d printers, the dirty little secret is that most filaments are hygroscopic, that is they absorb water from the atmosphere and this causes problems when printing. One part of dealing with this is to have a controllable low-temp oven to gently dry out the filament without getting it hot enough to soften and fuse together into an unusable mass. (Ask me how I know this) This unit is large enough to hold multiple rolls at once, has digital controls for heat and for run time. After using for a couple of months now I'm very happy with it's performance and ease of use.

We tried many different techniques for trying herbs but none were as successful as this Food Dehydrator. We grow more basil, oregano, rosemary, parsley, and sage, than we can use so we have to harvest it several times in a growing season. Now instead of losing the harvest, we dry them easily in our dehydrator and have dried herbs to use for cooking that we grew ourselves! This product is easy to use and functions exactly as described.

This is easy to use, the only reason I didn't 5 star it was because as a newbie to dehydrating, I couldn't easily find recipes for use with this machine, or for the odd temperatures this machine has. I would have loved for the company to have a few easy recipes (complete with cook temps and times) for a beginner to learn from. I would probably use this item more if I was more confident with what I was doing.
