Lew's SuperDuty Wide Speed Spool
The SuperDuty Wide Speed Spool series brings significantly greater line capacity to a baitcast reel designed for heavy-duty fishing applications, such as flipping heavy jigs on big line, handling the large and cumbersome umbrella rigs, and fishing big crankbaits and giant swimbaits. The aluminum sideplate on the handle side assures no-flex support under a load. The SoftTouch finish makes for a comfortable palming surface.

Answer: Depends on what size braid you put. If you look at diameter of mono compared to what # braid your wanting to put on. I would say 40# braid is equal to 14# mono. .

Answer: I use them for striper fishing and cast 1/2 and 3/4 oz. bucktails with them. I have been fishing all my life and these are the finest, smoothest, best casting reels I've very used, in my opinion. They cast 1/2 ounce jigs like a dream so I see no reason why they wouldn't do the same with 1/4 oz.
Answer: I love the reel. I have used it on two trips to Lake Baccarac in Mexico. It is excellent to cast and handles big fish very well. The large line capacity is great as well. Unfortunately 1/2 oz is the lightest lure that I have used on this reel. Works great on 1/2 oz and heavier. The cast control and drag are top notch. I have since purchased two more. Great product
Answer: I have many Lew's reels and they are as good or better than most reels on the market. As long as the rod is rated for the lure weight and you size your line appropriately, it will cast 1/8 oz just fine.

Answer: No reason you couldn't. Only fresh water fish I wouldn't use it for would be crappie.

Answer: It's not an inshore reel, so it's not meant to be as durable to saltwater use as other inshore reels, but I'm sure it'll be fine to use for a few uses if you clean it after each use. This reel does have a big spool, but if you aren't going for monsters the Lew's Inshore LFS for ~$130 is what I ended up replacing this one with and I love it!

Absolutely the best casting reel I have seen at this price point. First day out throwing crankbaits the entire day this reel delivered greater distance and no birds nests. Small profile fits into your hand, yet holds more than enough line.

In the late 70's a local distributor asked me to test a Lew's Speed Spool. I owned a sporti goods store and he knew I was getting ready to take my yearly trip to Lake Guerrero in Mexico. We took the Lew's, Ambassador 5000c and Ryobi reels to test. We stayed about 10 days and averaged 100 Bass per day that were keepers. The Ambassador and Ryobi cratered after days 3 and 4. The Lew's Reel? I still fish with it today.

Haven't used the reel yet. First Lew's reel I've owned. Do they not come with any paperwork at all? At least a warranty booklet? Care and use instructions? I got a box with a reel in it. Yes, I know how to use it. Yes, I know how to clean it after use. But a little bit of instruction, a few tips, and the warranty info would be nice to have. I guess it doesn't work that way anymore.

I have the 5.1:1 and it is my favorite deep cranking reel. It makes throwing XD10s an effortless joy. I will be picking up another for throwing big swim baits.

I have bought many reels from LEWS from you guys and for one of a higher quality reel there are no extras handle being one thing that wide super duty was number 7 LEWS reel in less than 4 months want to return just because Just bought 300nseries got handle same price???????? kastking I bought there 300 for nothing 129 and got a lot for my money and LEWS not sure anymore and topper I haven’t even used the LEWS American hero and just spoool yesterday and now it want even engage haven’t even used it really I have spent a lot of money on there reels and poles from Amazon and lately garbage super mad want don’t work and never used it and other paid a lot and got nothing extra
