Have this smoker and so far I'm very happy with it; question, does anyone know if Traeger or someone else sells drip tray liners for this model?
Answer: Do not know of any liner available but aluminum foil works great and helps keep the unit clean.

Answer: Yes they do, mine came with 5 in the box. They are just heavy foil with rolled edges and a tab to keep it from sliding down, but heavy duty alum foil will do the same for less cost.

Answer: This grill is a smoker that will grill. So yes, this grill does smoke a lot. That's what it is intended to do.

Will this cover for the ironwood 885 2019 model traeger?
Answer: No, the Elite Series grill is a unique shape/size and a specific cover is needed for each of the Traeger grills. I would buy a grill cover from a certified reseller for Traeger. The covers are premium and while a bit more expensive - fit your grill and will last more than one season.

Answer: Ace Hardware is an authorized Traeger selling and carries a lot of different grates - cast and porcelain coated. I would bring in your old grate or at least measure it and go to Ace Hardware. You can also find replacement grates online at various sellers but I am not sure if they are really Traeger grates are a cheap knockoff.

Answer: If your talking about a temperature purpose I purchased a welders blanket. Works great and half the price.
Answer: I would contact Treager directly. We had ours installed into an island. Therefore, we don't have a cover. We'd have to have one custom made because all we need to cover is the top.

Answer: It depends on the exact model. All have the basic probe for the thermostat. The meat probes are dependent on the controller version. Answer: I grill and smoke meats etc all year long. My grill is on my covered patio so it is somewhat protected but still gets blown rain and sprinkler. If your grill is not under cover you might get a grill cover when not in use.

Answer: There's a "smoke" setting if you want to smoke something. If you're grilling you set the dial to the temp you want and grill, there's much less smoke when in grilling mode.
Answer: The smoking of foods such as brisket or ribs is done at a lower temperature for several hours. When you turn up the temperature on the controller it barbecues or bakes like a normal barbecue but with more flavor.
Answer: I am not sure if get the question - the sentences are incomplete but the smoke is on all the time. It smokes at lower temperature and then when you raise the temperature the smoke continues. It has to smoke because the fuel for the fire is the wood pellets.

I fish and need to be able to sear Tuna loin and steaks on a hot cast-iron flat (400'~450'), and to reverse sear thick steaks....can this do that?
Answer: In my opinion no. You'll need a hotter flame for that. However, this is the best smoker/grill we've ever owned. We also have a regular grill along side of this for other things like your pan searing, hot dogs, hamburgers ect. This is a wood pellet smoker. It will add the best flavor to your fish like no other. You may never go back to pan searing again!!!

Answer: It doesn’t sear the meat but it will leave grill marks and cooks much faster than a smoker. Best grill I’ve ever owned. Cooks in some ways like a convection oven. We do vegetables and even cornbread on it.

We bought this from Costco and thought we were getting the best Trager had to offer. OOOPPPSSS. Save your money and get a lower priced model as you will not get your moneys worth with this model. The temp control is just guessing as control is only a word here "NO CONTROL" would be far more accurate. Hard to keep clean would be the second big problem and the smoke flavor I was expecting still hasn't arrived.

I was about to toss this very expensive grill cover because of the mold and mildew. Then I thought...why not throw it in my non-agitation top loader washing machine? I threw it in on heavy duty, extra rinse, with two pellets and then dried it for two cycles on medium low. It’s not 100%...but I don’t need to buy another one and I don’t need to toss this one. I would say it looks 90% close to new. No shrinkage. No loss of emblem. No tears or breaks.

I have assembled many grills over the years. This was one of the simplest (assuming you can follow the well written {with pictures} directions) units I have assembled. All the parts aligned well and fit properly.
Now the good part, cooking! While I have many years of experience cooking and grilling, I am a definite newbie in the world of low & slow. Over the past week, I have made my first attempts at both Beef Brisket and St Louis Ribs.
I bravely cooked the brisket for company. Dinner was a little late because I didn't allow quite enough time, but judging by how little was left and all the complements, I felt good about it. The ribs were far better than local restaurants.
The electronic temperature control I believe is the key to it making this novice pit-master look good.
One thing to remember is that this is not a blast furnace grill. If you want 600 degree temps, go elsewhere. But if you want controlled smoking/roasting up to ~ 450 degrees that has that real wood fire taste, look no further.
Tomorrow's menu is looking like a beef tenderloin. I can taste it already!

I purchased this grill over 4th of July weekend at a warehouse club in Fargo ND. I live in Michigan. When I told the salesman from Traeger that I could not take this on the plane with me, he said "No problem, these ship for free from TN anyway". Then I mentioned I had no one to assemble it when it arrived. He said "No problem, I will assemble it for you". I get to Michigan all the time because my family lives there. If I can't get there, my dad will do it." When I knew it was coming, I called Aaron. No answer. The grill was delivered by FedEx freight (flawlessly) and I was excited to start using it. I called Aaron. No answer. So, while I think it was very nice to commit to doing that, I was honestly not expecting him to do that, however I bought it with the idea that it would not cost me anything to get it assembled since this would have taken me hours/days to do. He never had the courtesy to even call me back. It ended up costing me over $100 dollars to get someone to assemble it and he had a bunch of questions and left one bolt untightened. Nothing earth shattering but I was very disappointed by the conduct of the rep. (not to mention, he has a "chaw" going in the store - kind of gross).
As far as the grill, it is a big learning curve but it has been fun. When I tell people I am smoking now, they look at me cross eyed (I am an avid non-smoker health professional). I have laughed about that. The best things I have made so far are: Smoked Swiss cheese, sugar cookies, smoked pork sausage (tube style - HUGE hit), ribs, wings and most successful of all the smoked salmon recipe from the Traeger book. Soaked in vodka, dry brined and then dried in the fridge to create a protective skin and then smoked and baked. The b/f went crazy for that one when he came back into town. I am headed to the warehouse place that starts with a "C" to grab a big slab of salmon so I can take this into work. My coworkers are loving this thing because I have been bringing in the food for them to try. So far, "crispy" dry smoked wings have eluded me but I will keep trying. I think the restaurant where I had them must have fried these things first!! I can't get the same texture even with using corn starch, etc.
As far as cautionary advice, I was able to get the thing seasoned and started and it's not too hard to clean but if you live in a subdivision with houses close to each other, I would consider what this large amount of smoke does to your neighbors. I have to keep my garage doors closed and the house sealed. My neighbors run a bonfire in their back yard occasionally and that has always bothered me, so I guess this is fair. I do live on a lake with about 100 feet between houses, so I am sure I don't bother them too much but if your houses are close together, you might want to consider an electric one or one that captures the smoke, It is pretty intense such that I thought of getting a mask or something protective when I am cooking on it. (being the avid non-smoker that I am, I am a bit cautious about inhaling too much of this smoke).

Don Crane : Bad installation experience with the free installation provided by Amazon.
The free installation that was included and provided by Amazon - was a bad experience. I only wish now that I had assembled it myself. The installer that Amazon provided at no additional cost was not qualified. He couldn't install the wheels correctly on the bottom of the cart and the front doors are not level. After convincing him to make some of the corrections I got him to please install the wheels correctly. It was truly a bad assembly job. Most people could have done a better job. I would not recommend using the Amazon provided installer. I still do not know if the insides were installed correctly as I was unable to watch him install and assemble the inside of the grill. Also the assembly process took over two hours. It could have been done in 45 minutes. Hope that everything works now that he is gone. I will let you know as I move forward from this negative experience.

The unit is packed very well to protect it in shipping and handling. All the corners/edges have reinforced cardboard to protect it.
Assembly:
I have assembled many grills over the years. This was one of the simplest (assuming you can follow the well written {with pictures} directions) units I have assembled. All the parts aligned well and fit properly.
Now the good part, cooking! While I have many years of experience cooking and grilling, I am a definite newbie in the world of low & slow. Over the past week, I have made my first attempts at both Beef Brisket and St Louis Ribs.
I bravely cooked the brisket for company. Dinner was a little late because I didn't allow quite enough time, but judging by how little was left and all the complements, I felt good about it. The ribs were far better than local restaurants.
The electronic temperature control I believe is the key to it making this novice pit-master look good.
One thing to remember is that this is not a blast furnace grill. If you want 600 degree temps, go elsewhere. But if you want controlled smoking/roasting up to ~ 450 degrees that has that real wood fire taste, look no further.
Tomorrow's menu is looking like a beef tenderloin. I can taste it already!

Love the versatility of this grill, works great as a smoker or you can turn up the heat and use it like a gas grill. No additional grill compartments or smoker boxes, just fill the hopper and do what you want.

I purchased this grill on 6/9/2017 and have used it three of the last four nights! I enjoy the convenience of the pellet auger and the real time temperature setting and reading, which helps free up my otherwise busy mind. So far everything has cooked perfectly and this Sunday will be the big test when we host a Father's day dinner and the ribs will be in abundance! Go Traeger!

First thing first. Spend some time on youtube and Traeger's web site and understand how to cook on it. There are a ton of excellent recipes.If you still have questions, go to Ace hardware and they have excellent employees and accessories for your Traeger. The traeger is a different grill and has a different cook cycle.
After you become comfortable, go ahead and cook the worlds best hamburger patty at your house. Invite the tell ieverybody neighbor. Your stock will rise like the BarBQue king you wanted to be. This device is incredible.
