Questions about South Bend Monofilament Cast Net Multi
Q:
is the net material nylon or what ?
Answer: The net material is monofilament. Think of a thick monofilament fishing line. The net works great by the way and is fun to use. Actually caught a whiting with it that was almost a foot long when I was trying to catch bait fish. It is pretty easy to throw too, once you get it down.
Answer: Yes
Q:
What color is the netting?
Answer: Pink polka dotted with red stripes...the fish love it... :) I just joking. I gave this as a present, but I remember it to being white to milky clear..I want to say clear, but lets stick with white to be safe.
Answer: Mine is white. This is a video of my husband using it. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=r3vWPb7VgOE
Answer: It's clear monofilament.
Answer: White with black manly white
Q:
How tall is the net?
Answer: It is approx 5 feet.
Answer: it is a four foot net.
Answer: 4 1/2 feet
Answer: 5 feet.
Q:
What is the weight of the south bend monofilament cast net 4' radius ?
Answer: Not sure of exact weight. It is very light and can easily be thrown by smaller kid or with one hand from a kayak.
Q:
How big is the net?
Answer: The one I bought was 8ft in diameter but when I ordered it was listed as 10ft. I called to have Amazon adjust the discription... 8ft was fine for my father in law so we kept it.
Answer: CNMO4 is 4 ft radius
Answer: It's about 6 feet around if not bigger
Q:
what is the diameter of this South Bend Monofilament Cast Net?
Answer: The radius is 4 ft., and the diameter is 8 ft. That is how cast nets are typically measured.
Answer: 4 ft,.
Q:
Were are you and arent u alowed to used dis net? Is there like places were its legal to fish with it?
Answer: You can use it wherever as long as you have a valid fishing license. If you catch a game fish however it would be illegal to keep it.
Q:
Looking for a cast net to catch 4 - 7 inch shad/skipjack to fish for hybrid striper and catfish; what is best diameter and mesh size?
Answer: 10 ft 3/8 inch mesh
Q:
How tall is the net?
Answer: It is approx 5 feet.
Answer: it is a four foot net.
Answer: 4 1/2 feet
Answer: 5 feet.
Q:
does this net come with a box??
Answer: Yes; it's a plastic box that came with mine, that should last at least as long as the net. And don't be too discouraged if you can't fold the net exactly like they do at the factory to neatly put the net in the box so it snaps closed all the way; that's tricky, but not a big deal.
Answer: It does but you will never get it to fit back in.
Answer: Yes
Q:
what is the diameter of the cast net?
Answer: we have not actually used it since it will be a gift for my autistic stepson (who is also a "soccer dude". The case for the net states that it is 8 ft dia with 3/8 mesh. Hope that this is helpful. Ty young259 has quoted the radius.
Answer: Do they have a 1/8 mesh in this cast net
Answer: 4 feet
Q:
How long is the rope?
Q:
What is the mesh size? Small enough to use for catching crappie minnows
Answer: I catch 2" shad in mine and they can almost slip through. I've never caught anything smaller than that in it. If it were me I'd buy a minnow trap before a cast net.
Answer: Yes
Q:
Does it come with weight? (Sinkers)
Answer: Yes; mine did; spaced around the bottom. Works really good; I got the 4ft diameter (even though I'm kinda' tall) as it was easier for me to learn to use one (FYI).
Answer: Yes, but there made of plastic. They don't sink fast.
Answer: Yes in the net itself
Answer: Included in the net.
Answer: Yes, of course it does.
Q:
If this had 84 reviews you would think they would tell us the size of net?

Answer: Not sure of exact metal. They are not lead weights.
Q:
Is this net 3,4 or 5 ft ?

Q:
How long is the hand line/rope?

Is this cast net 3/8" mesh?
Q:

Q:
What is the pound per foot on this net?
Q:
how long does it take to get the hang of?
Answer: No too long, instruction are little backwards, you put the string on your left wrist, then fold it and hold folded with your left hand, but instead of grab the left side to grab it with your teeth, grab the right side of it and then with your right hand grab the left side of it, then your trough it and try to extend it as much as possible when a friend told me I was grabbing the wrong side to put in my teeth, it was really easy, try it I this way, they will have a blast.
Q:
What is mesh size?
Q:
Why don't sellers give specs on such listings? Glad community answered it has 4' radius but how heavy are the weights on it?
Answer: I just weighed the net in its case and it weighed 4.5 pounds tota on my fish scale. Hope that helps.
Q:
If thrown into a rocky pond, or a place with lots of logs/branches will this break? Is the Monofilament very durable?
Answer: Yes it will break
Answer: Mine ripped when I got it snagged, but any net would have as hard as I was pulling. Like any other net, if you want it back intact you'll need to get wet.
Answer: It's pretty strong netting; I've had it hang up a few times and managed to get it out with no damage to the net.
Answer: I've pulled up loose snags from the bottom without tearing. It's probably possible to tear it, but I haven't yet.
Q:
How heavy is the whole thing
Answer: Its not heavy at all. I keep it in my kayak and use it for catching small bait fish in shallow channels. Can easily cast it while sitting in my kayak.
Answer: I don't know the exact weight, but it takes a bit of a hefty throw to cast it out completely.
Q:
Is this legal in california pier?
Q:
Were are u and were arent u allowed to use dis net?
Answer: I use the net in my private pond, in Oregon. I don't know about legalities. I'm removing invasive tadpoles with it. Works great.
Answer: You'd need to check your local fishing regulations. Although you might want to have someone read them for you.
Product reviews of South Bend Monofilament Cast Net Multi
Peggy A. Guebert : Good for beginners
Takes a little practice to throw but works well.
Barry E. Templeton : Love it for the $
Great to start out with and low cost
D Kear : This is a 4 foot cast net
The Amazon description is vague. This is a 4 foot cast net, only slightly larger than the same brand 3 foot cast net. I was hopeing it was a 5 footer.
It's still a good low cost net. Easy to throw. Caught a bucket full of bait fish in 15 minutes. Hope to try to catch some shrimp soon.
Jose luis cortes : Es muy pequeña
Buena calidad
Espetó que el tamaño es demasiado pequeña
Tracy Evans : Bait fishin a.s.a.p
Great casting net weights are perfect thanks
Susan Mendez : Nice quality!
Good net. the storage box is very handy. Avoids getting any unnecessary ware or tares.
Avidreader : Size up and get better if you can afford it
Should have bought a better and bigger one as this was too light and didn't want to drop quick enough to really catch any bait but for the money we got what we paid for. Needs a little more weight added to it.
Dazlin : Easy to throw
Nice net for the money. The monofilament is not as kinky as other entry level nets and the size is convenient to take with you when weight can be prohibitive.
da'ronche : Pretty good net
I've purchased a few of these at this point. This one is pretty good. For the price it's fine.
outlawdaddy : Five Stars
good
aubert : One Star
Ripped 1st time I used this
Jason J. Brunet : Absolutely The Best Value, Fantastic Net
I have had so much freaking fun with this net. It's great quality and doesn't get tangled easily. It throws like a dream, it's a great first net.
Sadly I busted mine on an underwater obstacle. Not the net's fault, it served admirably. I was heartbroken when I went to buy another one and saw they were no longer available :-(
But I just checked today and they are back! I'm throwing away the other replacement net I bought because the South Bend and I were just meant to be!
Marco reyes : Muy bueno
Muy buen producto
Travis : good net for shad
I got this to catch shad to use as bait for catfishing. The only con is i wish the weights were heavier, so it sinks faster. But it works fine for the price. I highly recommend checking with your DNR to see if cast nets are legal to use where you fish!!
Josh C. : Must have
Aweosme starter cast net. Teaching my daughters to use it.
Susan Mendez : Nice quality!
Good net. the storage box is very handy. Avoids getting any unnecessary ware or tares.
Amazon Customer : Four Stars
I like the product. It serves it's purpose. Just got to learn to throw it.
FLFamily : Can't beat the price or quality!
This net is exactly what I had been looking for! It was much less expensive than in stores, and I honestly think the quality is better.
Follow the directions and you'll do great!
PRACTICE!
My husband and I have been fishing for years in New England and Florida but this was our first attempt at catching our own bait fish with a cast net. We took it out to the backyard and although he got the hang of it right away, it took me a few tries, so I'm definitely glad we practiced before taking it to the water.
Love this!
Craig P. : Keep clean
Easy to cast
James T. Stokes : Good product.
I was easily able to use it the first time I used this net. Not only did I catch bait; but, I also caught a few crappie and bream. The net is durable and functions flawlessly, with a little practice.
Andrew Sheets : Outstanding product
Outstanding product
F. Cunningham : Great cast Net
The South Bend Mono Fil Cast Net is a good cast net for the money. It does what it is designed to do. I have only thrown it a few times. It seems like its construction could be a little stronger.
Pauly D : Well built product and does the JOB
Great device once you've figured out how to fling it properly into the water
ledzep60 : Five Stars
nice net, easy to throw and get bait
Andrew Sheets : Outstanding product
Outstanding product
Rose Ann : One Star
Poor quality! Too light!
Kindle Customer : Okay but not great
My 7-ft. Net casts okay to near-perfect circle but nearly a fourth of the diameter is lost to the center which remains in a stiff cone shape that does not spread out flat like my older nylon castnet. Next time, I will spend more to get a better net.
mario : Five Stars
Awesome
Barry E. Templeton : Love it for the $
Great to start out with and low cost
Eddy : Broke on 1st outage.
1st one tore up upon using for the first outing. I have used the 4ft ring type nets before. And this one threw well as did the others. I liked the extra length of line.
However it started getting tangled up.
Then i noticed a control line had broken causing a tangle every throw after that.
Returned it. Which was the best return i have seen. A new one was at my door step after i asked for a return. Great customer service. Wilk see how second net performs. And re rate product.
Gary A. : Great product
Great seller
Victor A. : Great
Awesome fishing net. Took me about 30 min of practice and watching tutorial videos befoore i perfected it.
Travis : good net for shad

mrideaux : Four Stars
Still holding up.
M Taylor : Five Stars
perfect
Christian Martinez : Three Stars
Good for kids.
Allondra : disappointed
Does not look like the picture what so ever, the casting net is white. And is very cheaply made I was expecting better from all the good reviews. I could of bought one at the store for 18 and looks much more sturdier.
D Kear : This is a 4 foot cast net

It's still a good low cost net. Easy to throw. Caught a bucket full of bait fish in 15 minutes. Hope to try to catch some shrimp soon.
Gary M. : Great net. Tough t
As described. Challenging to use. Especially for a kid.
fwgyms : but now he can throw a perfect pancake.
My son practiced and practiced and practiced, but now he can throw a perfect pancake.
Susan Mendez : Nice quality!
Good net. the storage box is very handy. Avoids getting any unnecessary ware or tares.
L Johnson : We thought we were buying a 5 ft/10ft diameter net ...
We thought we were buying a 5 ft/10ft diameter net and when my father in law opened his gift we were shocked it was a 4ft/8ft diameter net- I guess we should have checked it. I logged on to double check if I made a mistake but now the measurements have been erased.
FLFamily : Can't beat the price or quality!

I love it! Easy to learn on and we're getting rid of the bullfrog tadpoles. It actually is way more effective than I thought it would be.
