product description
Size:0.75 Gal
To give more shine, cleaner grout, and reduce slippage, the GlazeGuard Matte Tile Sealer by CoverTec is the sealer you need. GlazeGuard Matte finish porcelain and ceramic tile sealer is a flat-looking, natural look sealer that’s been developed specifically to bond to ceramic and porcelain tile. With a 2-part formulation, this sealer builds cross-links to form a very dense, tough seal coat across the tile on your floor. You get rejuvenated, shiny, and slip-free tile. With nearly 50 percent polymer solids, this sealer has more solid content than many other sealers. Its special proprietary chemical formula produces a dense bond on impermeable porcelain and ceramic surfaces. This sealer is very easy to use. Simply mix the 2-part formula, and lightly stir it with a paint stick. Once mixed you have 30 minutes to apply. Simply pour the mix into a roller tray, and then apply it just like you were painting the floor. In about 10-12 hours your seal will be set and you'll have a rejuvenated floor. You want your bathrooms, kitchens, and other tiled areas to look as vibrant as possible. The CoverTec GlazeGuard Sealer has the right formula to make that happen.

Questions about GlazeGuard by CoverTec Matte Ceramic and Porcelain Tile and Grout Sealer, Flat Finish, 2 Part Kit, 0.75 Gal
Q:
What is the coverage for a quart?
Answer: A 36 fl.oz kit of GlazeGuard Matte will cover approx 140 sq.ft
Q:
Is there way to get small sized samples for gloss, mat and satin please ? we want to try it out on tiles we have before we order large quantity.
Answer: No, we purchased the small bottles of each. We used an extra tile and dd half and half. We went with the satin. The matt is very, very dull.
Q:
My tiles have some color variation in them that i'm trying to correct. Would it be possible to add some color to this to tint my tiles?
Answer: We do have customers that have used WATER BASED concrete stain to tint the GlazeGuard. It is more of an art than a science. You should mix up the GlazeGuard first then add the stain (concentrated). The more stain (concentrate) you add the more solid the color. As a rough guide 6 fl.oz of concrete stain per mixed gallon of GlazeGuard will give a solid color. and 3 fl.oz of concrete stain per mixed gallon of GlazeGuard will give more of translucent color. Hope that helps, but feel free to contact our technical support team at tec@covertecproducts.com for further assistance.
Q:
We have a black grout - will this leave any color or haze on the grout?
Answer: The matte will still darken the grout but it doesn't stand out so much as there is no sheen like with the satin and gloss.
Q:
How many gallons would cover 1400 sq ft?
Answer: GlazeGuard Matte is supplied in 0.75 gal kit and each kit covers approx 375 sq.ft. So for 1400 sq.ft, you would need 4 kits
Q:

Answer: Matte has no shine.

Would this glaze water proof tiles for coasters?
Answer: Thank you for you interest in our GlazeGuard Matte Finish selaer. Yes this product is an excellent waterproofer for tiles and will work to seal tile coasters. GlazeGuard is a tough water based polyurethane sealer specifically developed to bond to ceramic and porcelain tile and will make the tile surface much easier to clean .
Q:
We used it according to instructions and dried for 12 hours but now it is sticky. What went wrong or will this decrease with time?
Answer: Sorry to learn that the matte sealer is still tacky after 12 hours. Air movement is usually the best way to speed up the dry time. Please make sure doors are open and even the windows if possible. For more direct support for your project reach out to us at tec@covertecproducts.com or call (754) 223-2465.
Answer: I left mine for 48 hours in hot Florida sun
Q:
can i use this over fusion pro grout
Answer: Yes, you can use GlazeGuard Matte over Fusion Grout. The grout first needs to be scrubbed clean with a green Scotch Brite pad and allowed to dry
Q:
Outdoor tile question: will ur glaze resist mineral deposit staining if hit by lawn sprinklers fed by unfiltered well water?
Answer: Thank you for your interest in our GlazeGuard sealer. Unfortunatley we have not tested our sealer agianst unfiltered well water. The color from some minerals can be quite strong! GlazeGuard will offer some resistance but I suspect red iron mineral deposits and such like, will dry on top of the sealer and still stain the clear surface. Sorry we could not offer a more complete solution.
Q:
Can this product be used on porcelain tile in an exterios application? Is it UV resistant?
Answer: I used it on porcelain tile. The product is very technique sensitive and more slippery than the original tile. I personally would not use it outdoors because it would probably be very slippery when wet. I don’t know if it has UV resistance.
Answer: Thank you for your interest in our GlazeGuard. Yes, this product is a non-yellowing UV resistant sealer. We do recommend that the surface is first prepared with our PreTreat to increase adhesion for exterior applications.
Answer: This product sucks interior or exterior
Answer: This product sucks I had to talk to the manufacture everything I had to strip the floor cost me more money than it was worth. Also still have a box of it wasn’t able to return

Q:
Does this work with porous stones like basalt ? Is it a surface sealer or penetrating sealer ?
Answer: GlazeGuard will work will porous stones like basalt. The product is a film-forming sealer with adhesion promoters that allow it to bond to porous and non-porous surfaces.
Q:
I used sealer & finish from tilelab (gloss) but it does scratch very easy could i apply glazed guard finish on top of this one to fix it?
Answer: We had the same question. An experienced installer said it is best to remove old glaze. Sorry
Q:
My pebble tile is still slightly tacky after 17 hours and my husband needs to take a shower. Will this harm the glaze?
Answer: As per the datasheet Drying Times: For better adhesion don't expose the sealer to water for at least 48 hours. But, if you want to speed up the drying time you can use portable fans to circulate air over the sealed area and you can also open doors to increase circulation.
Q:
How heavy should you coat the tile
Answer: GlazeGuard Matte should be applied in a thin coat approximately 500 sq.ft per gallon.
Q:
Some reviews said the satin finish had more gloss than expected. Can I mix the satin finish and the matte to get a finish that has a low sheen?
Answer: You can, but you have to mix the satin kit separately and the matte kit separately and then mix the two premixed products together. It works well to lower the sheen if you do it way. Remember to use all mixed product within 60 minutes
Q:
I did my whole house with matte wood look tile, would like to seal the kitchen/high traffic areas. How long does it take to dry, and how to apply?
Answer: Thank you for your interest in our GakzeGuard Matte sealer. the product is applied by 3/8th nap microfiber roller in a single coat and typically takes 8 to 12 hours to dry. Please note that the sealer will useally darken the grout too. You may wish to do a test if your plan is to seal only partial areas of the floor. Pease contact CoverTec for test sample if that helps.
Answer: 48 hours in well hot days
Q:
Should I use Pretreat before applying the sealer on brand new porcelain tile?
Answer: We recommend using the PreTreat in wet areas like shower floors or for exterior tile. Regardless of how new the tile is. In other words on surfaces that will get frequent wetting and drying. If that is not the case your application then PreTreat is not necessary. Just make sure the tile is clean and dry. Hope that helps.

Q:
how do we remove old glaze/sealers before applying this?
Answer: We recommend that any existing sealer is stripped using a chemical floor stripper. Something like our FloorStrip HP If the existing sealer is wax or acrylic-based. For polyurethane or epoxy-based sealer you should try a heavy-duty paint stripper, something like Kleen Strip Premium form home Deopt or Smart Strip from Sherwin Williams then you can use something like FloorStrip HP (ASIN: B072M5MGZB).
Q:
How heavy should the coat be
Answer: Not too heavy but well saturated.
Q:
Can this be used as a high gloss sealer on indoor porcelain tile floors?
Q:
I have porous rough tiles in high traffic area that are impossible to clean. I’d like them to stay matte but will this finish help less than shiny?
Answer: GlazeGuard was developed specifically to bond ceramic and porcelain tile. It turns your porous surface into a solid surface that will provide a tough clear barrier across the tile and grout and it will make it much easier to clean and maintain the floor. If you don't want a shine then pick the matte finish.
Q:
Does the matte version darken the grout like the satin and gloss versions?
Answer: The matte will still darken the grout but it doesn't stand out so much as there is no sheen like with the satin and gloss.
Answer: I have delorean grey grout in my kitchen, and just applied the matte sealer.
Q:
I have an area of about 2700 square feet. Will one 5 gallon size be enough to cover this amount?
Answer: Thanks for your interest in our GlazeGuard sealer for ceramic and porcelain tile. The matte finish is packaged in 3 gal kits and each 3 gal kit will cover 1500 sq.ft ( 500 sq.ft/gal). So for 2700 sq.ft, you need two(2) kits.
Answer: Yes, it should. It is best to use the foam type rollers no more than 6 inches. Also, please follow the mixing instructions and extra time mixing the solution is a good thing. You may want to have a foam brush handy as well for the grout and corners. I would also suggest that you not walk on floors for at least 24 hours. This sealer is really good.
Answer: I put this product on top of some porcelain tile is probably the worst product I’ve ever used roller lines everywhere and stripped the floor took days to get it off
Q:
Why does the matte cost $25 more than the satin or glass finishes?
Answer: Most sealers are gloss or semi-gloss so there are several raw good suppliers to work with. The matte resin is a specialty item. Unfortunately, the raw materials for the matte are more expensive due to fewer suppliers especially those that carry the ingredients needed for the production of our professional grade tough and long lasting formula!
Q:
I painted my old tile . Can I seal it with this product ?
