What’s the difference between this one and the one made for the 1000 models? The item number is 67343

Answer: All of the blankets work fine. Just different sizes. Mine is too big. So what! I just let it hang over. It works. Not too different. Harbor freight has a welding blanket that I think would work fine and a lot cheaper.

Answer: It fits the Austin XL - I believe it’s just a little bigger. Other than that I’m not sure.

What type of material is this made from?

Answer: I do not know exactly but it has definitely been worth the money. We were struggling to reach temp in 24 degree weather. Within 20 minutes of putting it on, we reached cooking temp and maintained.

Answer: It works great for the 1150 navigator series, and its supposed to work with 1100 series pellet grills, so I would imagine that it would work on the 1150 pro series

Answer: Might be a couple of inches bigger than the grill on the sides, but it should work just fine. You only need it if the outside temp is lower than 40 degrees when you are cooking.

what are the unfolded dimensions of this blanket?

When you open Door, does this have a zipper or velcro slide? How will it work if you are smoking? Do have to remove it to open door?

Answer: The blanket only covers the door and the back of the smoker. It fits perfectly on the grill and is of great quality. Mine was on the grill for 6 months without ever removing it, and I use it every week. Very functional and good looking.

Answer: The blanket is magnetic and sticks to the lid. There is no issue opening while cooking.

I picked up a Pitt Boss grill for the warranty, and I figured that if they're selling an insulating blanket, it's meant to work with their grill--ESPECIALLY if it's advertised for year-round use. If you read Amazon, and their own site, there's nothing that says you shouldn't use it in NORMAL temperatures for the US.

I was grilling at 400 deg, and it was maybe 85 deg outside. The paint on the grill started smoking under the cover. The box (pictured above) says not to use above 500 deg, and 40 deg outside. If you absolutely need this (because it's cold where you live), then take it off when the temps get warm.

To be clear, the there was no damage to the insulating blanket, only the finish on the grill. Also, their customer service will make sure to point all of this out.

I have the Pit Boss Austin XL. This fits like a glove.

It was a little expensive, but there aren't a lot of other solutions. Like others I entertained the idea of getting a fiberglass fire retardant blanket like from Harbor Freight. One downside is these blanket can be super itchy if you inadvertently brush against it. I also worried about fibers falling into the food on the grill.

In contrast, this official insulated blanket is coated, it's very think, and it holds to the lid with very strong magnets. In short this is night and day difference in quality and its ready made for your Pit Boss.

Now I understand the aim is to reduce the pellet burn and stabilize the temperature. Because I'm always changing up what is being cooked, how long I cook/smoke, and environmentals are always a bit different from day to day, comparing burn rate between two different days is like apples and oranges. In short any "savings" is hard to quantify. It seems to me as though the smoker warms up faster with the blanket and the temperature remains more consistent with the blanket.

In short and based on my observations, I would say the blanket is a great addition, especially in cooler temperatures.
