Answer: no auto shut off (usually takes about 3.5 to 4 hrs) , temp is adjustable but usually kept on the max of 165 degrees

Never used dehydrators; shopping for one. What is a "gun" in these? A reviewer wrote "cheap gun" while another wrote "good large gun". Thanks.

Answer: This is the kit I started with , I highly recommend it . the red/white small gun is good to use at first . I use the clear larger Nesco gun ,after 10 years on jerky making . its fun to dehydrate.... enjoy !!

Answer: My first dehydrator. Easy to use. The gun is to make jerky. The gun did what is was meant to do. My first jerky gun so i have nothing to compare it with.

Answer: Love the dehydrator. The gun is what you put the meat in to compress and 'shoot' out the end in the shape you choose, flat or 'stick'. Unfortunately, I did not have much luck with the gun included with machine. Plastic just can't hold up to the pressure. Broke the first use. I got a metal metal one and have been happy with it. Would recommend machine but also getting a sturdy gun. Good luck and enjoy!!!

Answer: The gun they are referring to is similar to a cookie press. You fill it with the seasoned meat, Add the die to make either slim jim style or a flat style jerky. The one that I bought is mostly plastic with a metal trigger and press mechanism. I love mine. Have had no problems with mine. If you’re going to be making jerky then I would recommend getting the gun.

Where do the drippings go and how easy is it to clean?

Answer: There's a solid tray you can leave in the bottom underneath the drying trays. All remove for cleanup. I have to wash them in bath tub as they are too big for my sink. Solid tray is easier to clean than drying trays but I let them all soak in hot, soapy water for a bit and use a soft dish brush.

Answer: Haven't had much of a mess, but the bottom piece can collect dripping or liquid

Are trays compatible with 75-A model?

Answer: Yes, these trays are compatible. The color of the trays may vary.

Will my trays level with use? The mesh part of 5 of the 6 trays is somewhat warped. I love the dehydrator, but have never seen tray like this.

First use and it's dead on arrival. This was a birthday gift I was really excited about and I'm a little crushed. It made a bad smell like it was burning up shortly after I plugged it in and then nothing. If NESCO can fix this for me I'll be thrilled and I'll change my review!

Cheap trays that come warped. Not as good quality as the Nesco dehydrator I purchased 20 years ago. One of the seasoning packets exploded within the box and was a dreadful mess; shame because it did smell wonderful. ????

The Nesco food dehydrator does work but it has some quirks. I dehydrated apricots using all 6 trays and ran the device for several days with individual batches. Each batch was part of a learning curve. The first batch was not fully dehydrated despite using the booklets guide of appropriate hours. My machine needed several more hours and without a doubt, the trays MUST be rotated or you will not get even dehydration. I bet that is for anything you try to dehydrate. It is fairly loud as I could hear it running even downstairs but not annoyingly so. Capacity is good but if you were to add additional trays it will surely add hours to the total dehydrate time and you will absolutely need to rotate trays throughout the course of drying. The trays seem a bit flimsy and I think the ribs will crack eventually, but that may not compromise the ability to use them. Overall, It worked and while it took HOURS to adequately dry my apricots (and they were very small halved) the end result seemed good. Hopefully the machine will last a long while.

Inside of trays and the plastic sheets for making fruit leather are all warped so much you couldn't use the machine for that purpose. Worms fine for everything else.

Mick : After 2 years of use, had to replace thermal fuse.

I have the 4 tray FD-61 model that worked fine for 2 years and then would not come on when plugged in. I use it quite frequently for fruit, and have used a meat thermometer in the bottom pan and found that in 8 minutes set on high gets the bottom tray in the 140 range with 4 trays. On taking the unit apart to look for a fuse, found it has a 133C linear fuse that you can get on Amazon (VG_S 5 pcs. New BF133 Aupo Thermal Fuse TF Cutoff 133C 110VAC /250VAC 10A ) there are good videos on YouTube on how to fix this. On the video I found, I wouldn’t bother with trying to pry the fuse out of the crimp fittings, just cut it out and solder the new fuse onto the crimp fitting. You will need a small Phillips head screw driver, wire cutters, multi-meter, tape or stickers to mark wires, and soldering iron. The thermal fuse comes in a pack of 5 so if this goes out every two years or so I’m only out eight bucks! Every two years may be a good interval to take it apart anyway to clean the dust off the air intake fins and fan blade. The multi-meter isn’t essential but a quick way to test the fuse for continuity before you remove it and after you install it. I would take all the wire nuts off and separate the wires after marking them, as this will make taking the heating element off to work on it much,much easier. The top two black screws on the fan motor separate the fan blades (on opposite side of the lid) from the motor.

A packet of beef jerky seasoning exploded in shipment. I’m trying to get the odor out of the plastic but after several washes it’s still there. I don’t know if I use it if my fruit is going to taste like jerky seasoning.

Très simple à utiliser et vas bien , seul bémol faut faire attention au lavage car n’est pas très solide et après une couple d’utilisation on dirait que les racks prennent de l’expansion et on perd de la chaleur car il ne s’empilent plus tout à fait égal un par dessus l’autre . Pour le reste belle machine j’aime bien .

Did a great job, seemed to get things cooked through relatively quicker than other styles I've used. Love the jerky gun, attachments are good quality and the unit seems like it will last for some use. Good seasonings in the kit as well, definitely may want to reorder them. Huge capacity, good spacious rack area with a good circulation. Overall very satisfied, no real complaints. 5 out of 5.
