Answer: no auto shut off (usually takes about 3.5 to 4 hrs) , temp is adjustable but usually kept on the max of 165 degrees

Never used dehydrators; shopping for one. What is a "gun" in these? A reviewer wrote "cheap gun" while another wrote "good large gun". Thanks.

Answer: This is the kit I started with , I highly recommend it . the red/white small gun is good to use at first . I use the clear larger Nesco gun ,after 10 years on jerky making . its fun to dehydrate.... enjoy !!

Answer: My first dehydrator. Easy to use. The gun is to make jerky. The gun did what is was meant to do. My first jerky gun so i have nothing to compare it with.

Answer: Love the dehydrator. The gun is what you put the meat in to compress and 'shoot' out the end in the shape you choose, flat or 'stick'. Unfortunately, I did not have much luck with the gun included with machine. Plastic just can't hold up to the pressure. Broke the first use. I got a metal metal one and have been happy with it. Would recommend machine but also getting a sturdy gun. Good luck and enjoy!!!

Answer: The gun they are referring to is similar to a cookie press. You fill it with the seasoned meat, Add the die to make either slim jim style or a flat style jerky. The one that I bought is mostly plastic with a metal trigger and press mechanism. I love mine. Have had no problems with mine. If you’re going to be making jerky then I would recommend getting the gun.

Where do the drippings go and how easy is it to clean?

Answer: There's a solid tray you can leave in the bottom underneath the drying trays. All remove for cleanup. I have to wash them in bath tub as they are too big for my sink. Solid tray is easier to clean than drying trays but I let them all soak in hot, soapy water for a bit and use a soft dish brush.

Answer: Haven't had much of a mess, but the bottom piece can collect dripping or liquid

Are trays compatible with 75-A model?

Answer: Yes, these trays are compatible. The color of the trays may vary.

Will my trays level with use? The mesh part of 5 of the 6 trays is somewhat warped. I love the dehydrator, but have never seen tray like this.

Inside of trays and the plastic sheets for making fruit leather are all warped so much you couldn't use the machine for that purpose. Worms fine for everything else.

A packet of beef jerky seasoning exploded in shipment. I’m trying to get the odor out of the plastic but after several washes it’s still there. I don’t know if I use it if my fruit is going to taste like jerky seasoning.

Love the jerky gun, attachments are good quality and the unit seems like it will last for some use. Good seasonings in the kit as well, definitely may want to reorder them. The dehydrator has worked great. That said, it's only been used 3 times so far. The gun broke after 6 lbs of meat. The second and third time I made jerky I flattened meat by hand (rolling pin) cut it with pizza cutter and got it done. Am in the process of looking for a better gun. Would recommend dehydrator but not gun. Like the adjustable temp and is fairly quiet. Lid (motor) top doesn't fit flush with trays but hasn't seemed to affect drying. I just light a candle to neutralize strong smell.

Ronald : The Dehydrator works great for Hamburger Jerky

So far have made 4 separate two pound batches of hamburger jerky, followed the directions dried for 4 hours and used the 2 lb seasoning packets and cure, added 1/2 cup of water to the hamburger and let it cure for at least 12 hours. Used the single wide flat nozzle on the jerky gun. With this nozzle 2 lbs of hamburger will mostly fill 5 of the 6 trays. Did follow the instructions on heating the jerky on a baking sheet after dehydrating for 10 minutes on paper towels. Did it at 225 degrees and patted any fat that came out with paper towels, but there is not much with 93 percent ground beef. Makes some really good jerky and a good high protein snack.

After quite a bit of research, I chose to buy this Nesco Food Dehydrator due to the price point for what advertised. My main reason for buying this was to dry all my Ghost Peppers this year instead of pickling or freezing. I had 2 plants that WAY over produced this year and wanted to smoke and then dry these chili's. This dehydrator does not disappoint. I have used it to dry out basil and other spices along with thoroughly dehydrating my Smoked Ghost Chili's. I will have to wait till after Deer season to try my hand at some Venison Jerky but I'm pretty sure it will do it's job.
PRO'S:
1. Many trays and accessories to literally dehydrate any kind of food. Even fruit rollups.
2. It achieves temperature pretty quickly and I used my wireless BBQ thermometer to verify the temp's and it was only 1 degree off(there will be some margin of error due to it being an analog temp dial). Don't really need a digital readout to break on me later down the road.
3. It does it's job and pretty much at the prescribed times the instruction book says it will take.
4. It has a pretty good price point compared to other dehydrators that I read reviews on not being able to achieve high enough temps to dry jerky correctly.
5. Dishwasher safe trays and accessories.
CON'S: Right now, none that I can think of. Maybe if it stops doing what the company advertises it will do, then I will come and update this review.

If you're looking to dry spices, fruits, vegetables or just want to make some jerky after a successful hunt, look no further. This one will do it all at a good price and is durable.

Très simple à utiliser et vas bien , seul bémol faut faire attention au lavage car n’est pas très solide et après une couple d’utilisation on dirait que les racks prennent de l’expansion et on perd de la chaleur car il ne s’empilent plus tout à fait égal un par dessus l’autre . Pour le reste belle machine j’aime bien .
