Questions about Daiwa Salmon Mooching Reel
Q:
Dose it have a anti reverse ?
Answer: It has a drag system and the handles will spin backwards, can bw converted to left or right hand crack.
Answer: I have used it for mooching mostly, but run it off the back between down riggers wit a fly or such.
Answer: I have lowered it to 80ft on the down rigger but, it it is a long retrieve.
Answer: I have lowered it to 80ft on the down rigger but, it it is a long retrieve.
Answer: No, that is why they call it a "knuckle buster".
Q:
Can this reel be coverted to left hand?
Answer: The prior answer is incomplete and incorrect. I prefer left hand retrieve. This reel can be FULLY set for left hand retrieve. (That's the way I use it.) It just takes about 15 minutes to flip one internal spring, pawl and ratchet. (Then flip the line guide.) It's easy and instructions are in the box.
Answer: Keith is right as far as rotating the reel to position the crank on the left, but the drag only works in one direction, so the crank direction may not feel natural when the reel is positioned with the crank on the left side. I like how the reel feels with the crank on the right.
Answer: Yes it can. before attaching reel to rod rotatae entire reel to desired retreival and then attach to rod.Fishing line can be put on in either clockwise rotation or counterclockwise rotation. Which ever you prefer. Reel spins both ways.
Q:
It ca-n be used as centerpin reel?
Q:
Will this work to cast in the river ? I see it says downrigger I’m looking to cast it
Answer: I use this reel to catch reds on the kenai, it works good for flipping but not as well for casting

Eric : Great Reel! Can't beat it for the money!
I've caught sturgeon and a bunch of striped bass on this reel. Looking forward to using it in the rivers and the salt for Chinook. Drag system is awesome and the 1:1 ratio makes the fight a ton of fun with a fish that has some size. I'm using it on a 9ft. medium heavy mooching rod from bass pro.
