Is this made in the USA?

Answer: Yes. Penn is based out of Pennsylvania. This reel is much better than the Fierce II series.

Could someone please tell a newbie what the difference is between the 3000 and 4000? I’ve tried googling but can’t find a simple explanation... Thanks

Answer: I just went through this same question this week. 3000 or 4000? There is very little weight difference between shimanos, penn Sargus, and battles. Range from 12.5-12.7. I prefer mono for flounder fishing cause the line stretch doesn't yank the bait out of their mouth therefore I go w the 4000 to hold 12lb test where the 3000 hold up to 10lb. If you are using braid that doesn't really become a factor. It's just balance and personal preference. As light as some rods are these days a 3000 is better balanced.

Answer: Difference is the amount and size of the line you could spool onto it. The higher the number the larger line it could have. Trout, Redfish, Snook, and Flounder etc.
