Featuring a full metal body and sideplate, along with PENN HT-100 carbon fiber drag washers, the Fierce III can handle anything inshore or nearshore. Does the 8000c come prespooled, if so what lb line?

Answer: Mine did not come pre-loaded. I purchased 25 lb. braided line.

Would the 8000c work good with a 12 foot pole fishing for catfish from the side of a river or dock?

Answer: Yes, but the 12 ft spinning rod and this 30 oz reel will be heavy. I recommend a good rod holder for your dock.

Answer: 8000 is in the original manufacturer box. 8000C is in a sealed clear plastic package like a “CLAMSHELL.”

DIDDY : The Best Buy For The Money

This Fierce lll is in my opinion The Best Buy for my money. A couple months ago I ordered two (8000) because the price was good and I liked the specs. I wasn’t disappointed from the first day. It is quiet and smooth. I use them for surf fishing down on the Gulf coast. I have caught just about everything near the coast and it does well no matter what size. The HT-100 drag system seems to hold up well, even when I have a runner on the hook. I really appreciate the weight and size. It not only looks great but more importantly it performs better than any spinning reel I’ve owned. I always thought that nothing would beat my Daiwa BG Saltwater but the Fierce lll is now my favorite. After looking at the diagrams of several reels in and above this price range of $110, I concluded that Penn’s re-engineering has made this reel in the best class of saltwater reels. I tried to order another for weeks now but it’s been sold out, but Amazon has assured me that more is coming back in stock soon. I highly recommend the Fierce lll for a well designed, well built saltwater reel.
