Product Description
The STX Dehydra 1200W (1200 Watts of Dehydrating Power) Stainless Steel Multi Sectional Commercial Grade 10 Tray "Jerky Safe" Food Dehydrator
IMPORTANT FOOD SAFETY INFORMATION: The USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) States the Following about Making "Safe Jerky" at Home!
"Illnesses due to Salmonella and E.Coli O157:H7 from homemade jerky raise questions about the safety of traditional drying methods for making beef and venison jerky. The USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline's current recommendation for making jerky safely is to heat meat to 160 °F and poultry to 165 °F before the drying (dehydrating) process. This step makes sure that any bacteria present will be destroyed by wet heat. But most dehydrator instructions do not include this step and a dehydrator may not reach temperatures high enough to heat meat to 160 °F or poultry 165 °F."
"The danger in dehydrating meat and poultry without cooking it to a safe temperature first is that the appliance will not heat the meat to 160 °F and poultry to 165 °F - temperatures at which bacteria will be destroyed."
Most dehydrators sold in the USA and other countries have a Maximum Drying Temperature of 155 °F with a few of them topping out at 160 °F, but Very Few have a Maximum Drying Temperature of 165 °F.
Our STX Dehydra 1200W Food Dehydrator has a Temperature Range from 97 °F to 165 °F which makes this dehydrator as "Jerky Safe" as possible for those of you who do not take the time to Preheat your Meat & Poultry to the USDA's suggested temperatures.

The STX Dehydra 1200W (1200 Watts of Dehydrating Power) Stainless Steel Multi Sectional Commercial Grade 10 Tray "Jerky Safe" Food Dehydrator
Overview of Product
The STX Dehydra Model 1200W-XLS is an Extra Large Stainless Steel Commercial Grade Food & Jerky Dehydrator with 10 Each 100% Stainless Steel Drying Racks that Measure 16 Inches Wide x 14.5 Inches Deep each. This equals 232 Square Inches (1.61 Square Feet) of Drying Area per Rack. With 10 Racks Included with this unit, the Total Amount of Drying Area for dehydrating your Food or Jerky is 2320 Inches or 16.11 Square Feet. The 10 Drying Racks are manufactured from 304 Grade Stainless Steel (NOT Chrome Coated) and the Square "Holes" in the Racks are 1/4 Inch x 1/4 Inch which helps accommodate almost any Fruit, Vegetable or Jerky that you wish to dehydrate.
The STX Dehydra 1200W is a “Multi Sectional” Commercial Grade Food Dehydrator
This Dehydrator comes in 2 Different Sections (Front & Back Sections) that you can Take Apart in about 10 Seconds and/or Lock Together in 10 Seconds. The Front (Dehydrating) Section measures 16.5" in Width x 14.5" High x 15.5" Deep. This is the part of the unit where the 10 Drying Trays fit in to dehydrate your foods. The Back (Power, Heat & Control) Section measures 16.5" in Width x 14.5" High x 4.5" Deep. When assembled, the Total Unit (also mentioned above) measures 20" Front to Back, 16.5" in Width and 14.5" High. Due to this Feature, you can take both parts of the unit apart and it makes the whole dehydrator much easier to clean. In fact, you could actually clean the front dehydrating section and stainless steel racks by using a pressure washer (on low) or your garden hose if you wanted. You, of course, could not do this to the back section as it has the electric motor (fan) and controls in it, but you could blow this section out with air. A lot of dust accumulates around the motor & fan and you want to keep this clean so it does not get clogged with dust and overheat.

Questions about STX International STX-DEH-1200W-XLS Dehydra Commercial Grade Stainless Steel Digital Food Dehydrator - 10 Trays - 1200 Watts - 165 Degree Fahrenheit - Jerky Safe with 15 Hour Timer
Q:
made in
Answer: made in China
Q:
is it 100% BPA free? Is it ANY TOXIC MATERIALS FREE?
Answer: BPA is found in polycarbonate plastics and epoxy resins and this dehydrator is essentially made out of 100% Stainless Steel excluding the motor and a few Regualar Steel parts in the back fan part of the unit.
Answer: I don't know about BPA and toxic materials but I can say I was quite disappointed with the machine.
Answer: I don't know why one of the people posted they are disappointed in the dehydrator. It is a wonderful workhorse. I make jerky for my family and about 15 pounds of chicken breast at a time for my dogs and it works really well!!!!
Answer: It must be. It is all stainless steel. It's a great machine!!!
Q:
The description describes 1/4 inch square stainless steel drying trays. However the picture shows a mesh-like drying tray. Which is it? and is it ss?
Answer: Thank you for reaching out and asking about our STX International 1200W Dehydra Food Dehydrator! The holes in the trays used to be 7/8 inch, but customers continued to request smaller holes. We currently have trays that have 1/4" holes with our product (this is also what is pictured that looks more like mesh). We have had a good response from customers saying that they appreciate the smaller holes.
Answer: They are a bit like mesh but with piece of metal surrounding a smaller hole in the middle of the square ... so total of square is optionally 1/4 inch. We do bananas and lost if fruit in it and when you get to the top of a banana sometimes it falls through the hiole. But 99% of the banana fits great.
Answer: The actual grid size of the stainless steel trays is close to an inch. I purchased silicone mesh drying sheets for smaller items, like vegetables and berries. I purchased mine almost one year ago & am pleased with my purchase.
Q:
How long does the food last
Answer: There is no single answer to this with all the different types of foods that can be dehydrated, but we’ve had jerky up to two weeks easily(it gets eaten too quickly to tell you beyond that) but you can find guidelines for pretty much each food type online, with a little searching. I can’t brag on this unit enough. It cut my drying time on three pounds of jerky, from 18 hours on the cheap dehydrators, to under 4 hours with this one. It will easily do 5-6 pounds in one session with all the racks that it has.
Answer: Depends on what it is, how you prepare it, and how you store it. How do you expect to get an answer out of a general question like that?
Q:
Can i order more racks? how much is it?
Q:
Is it suppose to come with a drip pan? I purchased mine on January 24th and the description states it does but didnt see one in the box.
Answer: Yes its suppose to come with a drip pan
Answer: Mine came with one. It is a very thin tray like piece of metal. I think it was between the side of the box and the dehydrator. I would look through the packing materials again.
Q:
Beginner here. What wattage should I buy?
Answer: I always figure that there's nothing like horsepower, so I purchased the 1200 watt. I use it several times a week mostly to dehydrate meat for dog treats and it's wonderful. I've had other types & brands before but I love this one so much I bought the 1200 watt for my daughter for Christmas.
Answer: the heights the wattage its more power, the shortest the withing for the food to dry,
Q:
Is this available in Canada Anywhere?
Answer: As long as Amazon will ship it
Q:
what is the warranty?
Answer: 3 year warranty. 1st 30 days - money back or replacement from date of receipt. The remainder is free repair, parts and labor.
Q:
Will the stx-deh-1200w-xls unit have glass viewing window in the front door, or is the picture wrong?
Answer: The model I have does not have a glass window. Mine was bought in August of 2019; I don't know if changes have been made since then. From the picture shown, the window is in the front between the two air vents. Mine had air vents where the window appears to be (three rows of vents instead of two).
Answer: My unit came just as pictured, it does have a glass window on the front. However, it’s hard to see what’s going on so I usually have to open the door and pull out a tray to really see what’s going on.
Answer: My unit does not have the window. Apparently, the newer model does have the window.
Answer: No window it has vents for air circulation.
Q:
will this work for noodles?
Answer: Should work just fine, may want to try non-stick sheets.
Q:
For how much could 8 more silicone mats be purchased?
Answer: You can call our Customer Service Center in Lincoln, NE at (402) 742-2586 as we have them for sale and in stock, but please note that do not want to layer every tray in the unit with Silicone Sheets as it will reduce too much of the air flow to dehydrate correctly. These Silicone Sheets are solid (no air holes) and dehydrators dry by "Circulated Air" which would be stopped by using to many of them at one time in any dehydrator.
Q:
Does this use a lot of energy? Would I notice a large significance in my energy bill?
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: It was a gift for my son. He loves it. I will ask about energy consumption tomorrow and get back to you.
Answer: More then my other 2
Q:
I have one of this since dec. 2014, very good! now i need a new fan for it, where can i get it? thanks!
Q:
what is the error message E-2?? and E-3?? on the control panel
Answer: Neil M. Teves,
Answer: Neil, I looked for the answer to this and couldn’t find it either. You will probably just have to call them at 402-742-2586 to find out. Best of luck, these are great machines.
Q:
Love love this dehydrator! but i lost my cord in a move, can i order another? or would you tell what kind i need to buy?
Answer: It seems to be a standard computer power cord. If you have a desktop personal computer may wish to confirm by trying the cord from that. You can currently get a 10 feet long cord from Amazon for a few dollars.
Answer: Try a old computer cord.?
Answer: Just get an old ac computer cord from an old desktop. It should fit perfectly.
Q:
Does this product have a shut off timer? Thanks!
Answer: Yes it does have a shut off timer.
Answer: Yes it did. But mine shorted out before the timer went off. I think that some folks have lowered the temperature to keep the machine working. I make jerky and therefore the 160 degrees is critical.
Answer: Yes it does
Q:
does it have free shipping
Q:
Can I get a longer timer?
Answer: Thank you for reaching out and asking about our STX Dehydra Commercial Grade Stainless Steel Food Dehydrator. I am sorry but there is only one model of this and it comes with the 15-hour timer.
Q:
Is this unit rated or approved for commercial use by ul, nsf or csa?
Answer: William:
Q:
What is the size of the unit?
Answer: The Front (Dehydrating) Section measures 16.5" in Width x 14.5" in Height x 15.5" in Depth. This is the part of the unit where the 10 Drying Trays fit in to Dehydrate your Foods. The Back (Power, Heat & Control) Section measures 16.5" in Width x 14.5" in Height x 4.5" in Depth. When Full Assembled, the Total Unit measures 16.5" in Width x 14.5" in Height x 20.0" in Depth.
Does this dehydrator have any plastic parts? Are the shelf supports plastic, or stainless?
Answer: There are no plastic parts. It's all stainless steel and we don't even spray the racks we just put them in hot soapy water as we unload them and by the time we are finished wipe with a cloth rinse and dry and they are beautiful. The same with the drip tray. We have well used it at this time and it still looks brand new!! We love it and are very happy we invested in this particular one because it will last a long time.
Answer: The shelf supports are metal. Don't remember anything that was plastic, except the knobs that we turned to set the temperature and the time.
Answer: Except for part of the 2 buttons on the top of the control panel, ALL other parts of this dehydrator are Stainless Steel.
Answer: Everything inside the dehydrator is stainless steel. The rear section that has the heater and controls is SS on the outside. The control panel is a membrane type display and push buttons so it is in effect sealed. This user control is on the top of the removable rear section. You can remove the electrical rear section and easily wash the main body. My personal opinion is this is a quality unit. We are happy with ours and do fruits, veggies and even cheese and peanut butter dog treats.
Answer: Stainless. This is the best dehydrator my husband has ever used. It was purchased for him and he has made jerky, dehydrated fruits and veggies, and dried out seeds. It's quiet, too.
Answer: only stainless steel parts
Answer: No Plastic parts only stainless steel parts
Answer: Yes there is plastic. The handle is plastic and it's exposed inside the unit!!!
Answer: it's all stainless No Plastic

Answer: No; it is 110 volt
Answer: Could you tell me if it were possible to buy a replacement fan motor?

Answer: 165 is correct
Q:
What is your return policy?
Q:
Someone said the maximum temperature setting is 165 degrees. The display panel on the unit shows max temperature of 155 degrees. Which is correct?
Answer: Thank you for reaching out and asking about the STX Dehydra 1200W Food Dehydrator! The temperature setting does go up to 165 and the display panel on the unit itself has been updated. It appears that we need to update the picture on Amazon so that it is correct. I will send this to our Marketing Department to get on right away. Thank you for pointing out the discrepancy.
Answer: It goes up to 165/74 celcius
Q:
Is it possible to get this dehydrator with the micro mesh trays?
Answer: Thank you for reaching out and asking about our STX International Dehydra 1200W-XLS Stainless Steel Digital Food Dehydrator. We do not offer micro mesh trays for this dehydrator and I am not aware if they can be purchased somewhere. The tray size is 16.0 -Inch X 14.0-Inch and the whole size is 1/4-Inch.
Q:
Is the plastic handle still exposed inside? i read a answers dated 2016 that said the plastic handle was exposed. this would create toxins.
Answer: The plastic handle is exposed on mine, but I looked closely at it, and with a little creativity, you could switch it out for a wooden handle. Personally, I've never run mine hot enough to smell any plastic fumes, so I'm not worried about it. I have been very happy with mine.
Answer: The handle does extend into the dehydrator. Max temperature on this unit is 165 degrees F, and I personally do not know if that is hot enough to cause problems or not. You might want to research this further with someone who is a professional on the subject.
Answer: Yes handle is exposed inside. The rest of your question is more like a statement...if you feel a risk then don't buy it. Perhaps you should be more concerned about different plastics you put in your micro-wave at much higher temperatures.
Answer: Good Lord. Number one, it doesn't get hot enough in there to release toxins from the little bit of plastic that is on the removable cover. Number two, that handle is located in the louvered, removable, panel that is on the exhaust end of the dehydrator. So even if it did release toxins, they would be forced out the louveres away from the food. That handle is definitely not an issue. Don't let that deter you from buying an excellent piece of equipment.
Answer: Yes the plastic handle is still exposed.
Q:
How much meat can you stuff in this thing?
Answer: Probably 5-10lbs depends on how tight you stuff it. The more you stuff in the longer it’ll take. There’s ten shelves and I’m guessing 8 ounces on each shelf. 5 lbs.
Q:
Is there a way to order replacement racks?
Answer: Customer Service can take care of whatever parts you need.
Q:
Can someone give an update on how the machine is working after having it for over a year and if anyone has experience with customer support/ warranty?
Answer: Had mine over 2 years no problem
Q:
do you have 220/230 volt electricity compatible model
Q:
What is your return policy?
Q:

Answer: Thank you for reaching out and asking about our STX Dehydra 1200W Food Dehydrator. The space between the trays is approximately 2 inches.
Q:

Answer: go to amazon site and find the manufactor and you can contact them directly through amazon

Q:
I have tried to get the machine to work and it shuts off after a few minutes no matter what temp I use. I got 2 wires to connect to the electricity??
Answer: Joyce:
Answer: We had the same problem with the machine turning off no matter the temperature. We returned in the first machine and had the same problem with the second machine. We switched to an Excaliber and have been happily making jerky ever since! Never had the TWO WIRE thing happen!
Answer: You should not have two wires to electricity just one plug. We plugged ours in and have had no problems at all. We love it. Have done, all kinds of fruit and lots of tomatoes and no problem. We have run the machine ten or twelve hours no problem. It has a timer and it works. This has saved so much of our fruit from our trees and stuff from the garden. If you have two wires send the thing back because something is wrong! They are good about replacement. Good luck
Answer: 2 wires? That's not right. Call customer service.
Q:

Product reviews of STX International STX-DEH-1200W-XLS Dehydra Commercial Grade Stainless Steel Digital Food Dehydrator - 10 Trays - 1200 Watts - 165 Degree Fahrenheit - Jerky Safe with 15 Hour Timer
Geno : Worth the $$ and super customer service!!
Love my new STX-DEH-1200W-XLS. It works great, looks great, and easy to clean. Past reviews complained about the one inch mesh trays. Well mine came with 1/4 inch mesh trays so there is no food falling through them now! I have done three batches of beef jerky in it and it works great. I recommend that you put the thinner cuts on the bottom as it doesn't get as hot down there on the bottom two positions. If I use 3/16 to 1/4 inch thick meat, it takes from 5 to 10 hrs to get done. Love that it has a digital countdown timer so if I had to run out, it shuts itself off to prevent over drying. The end cover is a little tricky installing after you have slid your trays in, but after a few times it isn't so bad. Clean up is easy as i wash them in my sink. They are so wide, they don't fit in my dishwasher very well. But that's okay, not hard to get them clean as I use an oil base marinate for my jerky. It's really big so I am forbidden to leave it on the kitchen counter. I take into the garage and run it on my workbench. Looking for a stainless food prep table now to set up my operation on. Think I'll get my own meat slicer next. 22Dec19 UPDATE to my review.- I am going to bump up my rating to 5 stars!! I have been using this dehydrator for over a year and a half now. I can't tell you how much beef jrky I have made with it, but I know its in the hundreds of pounds. I use sugar in my marinate for my jerky so it does leave a rather heavy residue when I am done. But a little soaking in dishwater and scrubbing with a brush gets it right out. That scrubbing might have been why a few of the wires that make up the screen of the tray have come un-welded and stick up, so I must be careful not to stick myself with that loose barb when using them. I contacted the company via e-mail to find out how to order replacement trays. Well blow-me-down... I got a reply from Sasha at their company and she has sent me out a few replacement trays FREE OF CHARGE!! You just don't get customer service like that any more. I am beyond happy to say the least. My STX 1200 is still going strong and I love it more than ever. I HIGHLY recommend this item if you are looking to make some serious jerky. 31Jan2020-. Another update to further info on the outstanding customer service this company has. The replacement trays they sent me are more rugged and slightly larger than the 1/4 inch mesh trays I got with the unit. Well I inquired about buying a set of ten of these larger mesh trays as I liked them way better. They were just trying them out to see how they would work. I guess I got the sample trays by accident. At any rate, they are sending me the rest of these trays and I couldn't be more grateful. The customer service person, Sasha, and their head Technician, Todd, said in the future, they were going to replace the 1/4 inch trays with the more rugged 3/8 inch trays. That's a real bonus for anyone that's going to buy one of these awesome units, of anyone that needs replacement trays. Thank you STX International!! 14Feb2020- Update - Well I have been using the 3/8 inch mesh trays a couple of loads now. I must say that they are way better than the 1/4 inch ones. Sturdier and they seem to dehydrate faster. Maybe the air circulates through them better. If you already have an STX, do yourself a favor and order the 3/8 inch trays when they come out for the company. I scrub my trays vigorously with a kitchen brush and they hold up very well. And they clean up easier too! So pleased with them.

So far so good, loving this unit. Works great.
Dan Payne : Great Product
Although we have only had it for a short time, we love it! We have only tried an array of fruit in it thus far, but as soon as the garden is in full swing, let the food preservation begin! We are a school and teach alternative building and sustainability and will be being using the STX International STX-DEH-1200W-XLS Dehydrator Commercial Grade in our food preservation classes. I was amazed that it has a three-year warranty that comes with it; most appliance extended warranties must be purchased separately, so this was just icing on the cake. It is very quiet, we expected it to be louder and before receiving it, we had already cleaned a space in the garage, but it is not necessary, we have it on the counter in the kitchen. The main reason we chose it, is because it is all stainless steel and the back even comes off for easy cleaning. Thank you for making a great affordable product!
I AMS GARDEN : Drys so fast
Love how compact this unit is
M. Fish : Quality dehydrator.
Easy to use and the drying racks are high quality. Works great!
SrT : nice piece of equipment and great dealer support
Received this promptly in the middle of harvest season, washed it, set it up and put it to work. Apples, asian pears, pears, grapes, and figs all found it's way through it's cycle. Easy to understand instructions and can't fail if you follow them. One hint, if drying grapes for raisins you don't need a mat, simply crack the grapes by plunging them in hot water to crack skins, remove and put on towel, then place on bakers parchment cut to fit racks. The unit has great capacity and I can see it working for years as it is simple and well built. I called the company and talked to the owner about rather sharp edges on the door that need to be burnished by sanding or filing. Easy to do with crocus cloth or emery paper, I used 800 grit. would not hesitate buying again and have in the past used the round stack-able plastic type that I'd never own again. 2015 update: Getting ready for the harvest season I've begun thinking of getting our dehydrator out of it's box (save it or get one slightly larger to put the unit away at the end of the year), clean it up and put to use for the 4th year. With over 50 fruit trees and 25 grape-vines we have really put a lot of loads through drying and it's not failed us. At this point if we had to do it again, we would buy the same model. Please note we do not have this updated model with the digital electronics, ours is the old style with twist knobs (we can't vouch for the updated). I will tell you that if our heating unit fails I wouldn't hesitate ordering the electronic version to replace the original as I feel it would work as well (better?) and the company would stand behind their product. (See my prior note about dealer support).
RGreer : easy to use and clean
didn't want a plastic dehydrator. easy to use and clean, quiet operation.
Jordan Dane Yearwood : Commercial grade, household price.
Very good commercial grade dehydrator for the money. Great heat and air flow and extremely simple to use. The first time I used it, I filled it full of homemade jerky, set the temp and the time and was very surprised when it was completely done in 3.5 hours! Made loads of it.
Alanna Brand : Commercial Quality at Great Price
I Love Love Love this Dehydrator! All Stainless steel and great quality. a really great special feature is the electronics section. It is all in a section that clips on the back. When you go to clean you just unsnap and remove the whole section - its amazing. This one is 1200Watts. I knew I wanted at least 1000W for meat safety and this one fit the bill. Being all stainless was a real plus. Plastic bodied ones can absorb smells after being used along time but not this one. It dehydrates very evenly and does a fantastic job. I liked it so well I told others in my family about it and they ordered too. I have done a variety of vegetables, herbs, tomatoes nd cherries as well. All with great results.
I_HATE_THIS : almost perfect
You can detach the electrical part easily. Allow you to clean them easily. However, the attached rail on the case itself make it difficult to manuver in the sink. I wish they attach the rail to the electrical part instead, or make the rail removable. I will recommend this to others.
Debbie : No more store bought dog treats. Peace of mind feeding my dog.
It's all about our dog Mike. He gets all kinds of jerky. Great machine, easy to clean, quiet and holds a lot of food.
Cary Roach : It is bulky and won’t fit on a normal size counter which wasn’t an issue for me.
So far I’ve used it about a dozen times, I am very happy with it at this point. I know there are cheaper units that may work as good but I’m glad I spent the extra money on this unit.
Super Dave : Better than my old LEM Stainless dehydrator
I had the ten shelf LEM stainless dehydrator but the fan motor went out on it so I started looking for a new one and purchased this model. It is just as easy to use as my LEM but I like the drip pan feature which the LEM doesn't have. The heat seems to be more consistent with STX-DEH-1200W-XLS. I made some dog treats which are just chicken gizzards and in my LEM it would take about 4-5 hours but in the STX-DEH-1200W-XLS about 3 hours and 15 minutes they were just right. The digital timer is nice too and more precise then the timer on the LEM which is like one of those old egg timers. The digital timer flashes between the time you set it for and how much time has passed which is nice. I don't think you will be disappointed with this dehydrator. The LEM served me well but I like this one much better.
If I had to make a complaint it would be the front door handle protrudes on the inside so it gets in the way when you are trying to close it up but it's easy to figure it out and just angle the door back a bit when you first put it on.
FWIW I did get a replacement fan motor for my LEM so it's back in service but will use if I need more dehydrator space as this one will be my primary.

SJM : This is a great dehydrator!
I hesitated to spend the money on this but wanted a quality item. This is quality. It works well. All of the parts (racks, rack holders, shelves, even the back area which holds the fan) come off and are easy to clean. That's important when you've used soy sauce and don't want your next batch, with apples, to smell like that. The shelves are easy to put into the dishwasher and come out perfect, which is very helpful when you've got sticky stuff of them. I do use parchment paper for smaller or very wet items so they don't drip through. With 10 shelves it holds a lot....3 lbs of chicken, 16 large cucumbers, many, many apples. Also, I got the Ultimate Dehydrator Cookbook by Tammy Gangloff which helped me understand how to dehydrate all kinds of things. Since this was my first attempt it was mighty important. All in all, a great experience. Apples, pears, chicken, tofu, cucumbers, carrots, kale chips, mushrooms and more. It's been a lot of fun!
JU EUN PARK : It's worthy!
I recently started to make dog treats with this machine. Before this one, I already tried two machines, and I was disappointed because it was not strong enough. Finally, I settled this machine, and I am totally satisfied so far. The only thing you need to know is the electricity bill. Since it is a very strong food dehydrator, I don't have any complaints about it. But it definitely charges more than a weak food dehydrator (The power of small and fancy dehydrators are less than 800W but this one is 1200W) Another good thing is the manufacturer offers 3 years free warranty. I was about to add the protection, and I knew about this today.
Anyway, I can't complain about this dehydrator! Just Good!
Michael Corti : Great Appliance
Love the square footage of rack space. This is a great unit that works well. No issues, nothing negative, worth the expense.
Dusty : This thing took a dump on me twice...
The first one took a dive on me within 3 months of use and the return process left much to be desired.. fast forward another 5 months and the replacement is dead. This thing sucks and the company isn't great either. Choose any over dryer and you'll be happier than I am for sure.

The best money can buy. I use this all the time and I've had it for a few years without a single problem.

It worked great til one day about a year after purchase it just stopped turning on one day between batches. No clue why but am contacting customer support to see if they can help fix it.
Brian F. : Nice Dehydrator
I had a LEM dehydrator that I used a lot for years making jerky. After it finally quit I replaced it with this one. Much nicer machine. Like the mesh trays vs the wire trays I had. This one works much faster, actually slightly over dried my first batch of jerky on this machine and took it off well over an hour earlier than I would have expected. Easy to clean. Would buy again.

Craig K. : You get what you pay for
Great design and easy cleanup. Big unit so be prepared as not something your wife will probably let you keep on her counter. Lots of room for big batches, or can only load one tray. Great results with finished products (fruits and jerky so far). Also makes great and better dog treats at far less cost vs. buying. Very satisfied with this unit and very happy I didn't buy one with plastic or lesser cost models. Time will tell, but believe this unit will still be operating many years from now.
Wet Green : Stainless steel
We love the fact the trays are also made of stainless steel. The width of the trays' mesh works well as a compromise between good air flow and supporting and releasing the drying food. The timer can be adjusted at any time during the drying process which is very helpful. The timer would be improved with the addition of an end of drying alarm. Strangely the recommended ranges of drying temperature for particular foods do not have a corresponding temperature setting.

vartan andreasian : Works good
This unit has a very little sound while working which I like very much, and it took less time to do few couples of chicken jerkies . However I should just complain on the material as it is not a high level stainless steel. After washing the door ( the first day) some water strains remain on the door.
Sonia Ranieri : El vidrio se despegó. Que debemos hacer?
bret ankelen : a ok .
like lots. nice unit.
Tom Kulas : Great cooker
Use mine every other week has worked great no problems I like how the back comes off for cleaning
Lori L Litton : Husband loves this!
We make a lot of beef jerky and this machine gets the job done quickly. it's really big and takes up a lot of the pantry space, but it works beautifully. Highly recommend.
Ceil C. McKinney : Amazon and STX International GREAT Combination!
The first STX we purchased just shut off in the middle of a dehydration cycle. Making jerky for the dogs so no real harm. Went back to old dehydrator to process the jerky for people. Amazon replaced the first STX with no problems or questions. The second is working like a charm! The amount of jerky I can dehydrate is so large and the machine is so quiet. It makes drying jerky a pleasure! The only criticism is the size of the tray grids, they are too large for smaller pieces to sit comfortably when wet and the same pieces fall through the grid when dry. If the grid could be 1/2 inch or even 3/4 inch it would be better for my purposes. If additional Stainless Steel trays with a smaller grid could be purchased separately that would be excellent!
Justin M Tasior : So nice we bought it twice!!
Game Changer!!! We love it so much we bought a second one! We make jerky, and once we figured out the times and temps, it's amazing!!
Juan L. : as advertised, well made stainless steel construction
Ease of use easy clean, sturdy construction
chris anthony : Very quiet and efficient dehydrator
Everyone keeps mentioning the noise but I find this dehydrator to be relatively quiet and it works exceptionally well
J. Rivera : Time saver and easy clean up!
Totally satisfied with the quality and performance of this dehydrator. It has cut the time to cure jerky to about 6.5 hours and I no longer need to turn the meat or rotate the trays every couple hours . Very easy to clean the entire unit! Excellent product!

Eire : Working great now
I received the dehydrator about a week ago. The stainless was not bent correctly keeping the door from closing properly, no biggie I repaired that it the door works fine now. Once the unit is put together it is not as flimsy as it seems to be while assembling. I have had some beef marinating for a couple days and today I filled four racks and placed them in the center top portion of the dehydrator. The meat has been dehydrating for about 12 hours and is not close to being done. Like someone else said their cheap plastic dehydrator worked better. I checked the temp with a digital thermometer and the temp in the front inside of the unit was 105 degrees, in the rear between the heating element and trays was 115 with the element on and dehydrator temp set at 150. I have written the seller and we will see what happens. Someone else wrote something about the heating element being a piece of coiled wire. It is heating element wire, same as what's in your electric dryer or the electric heat in your cooling/heating system. I have no intentions of sending this thing back if the seller/manufacture cannot take care of the problem. I will fix it myself so it works like it's advertised to do. It''ll turn out to be more money wasted on a mis-represented product on this site.
HOT OFF THE KEYBOARD, UPDATED INFO. 22 DEC 2012 I contacted seller about my issues. They were easy to work with. I explained my findings. I was told the back or heating portion that latches on could have gotten damaged in shipment. They sent me a new back and I got around to using it a few days ago and upon startup I could tell a difference already. It dehydrated the several trays of meat in about 12 hours, I let it go for awhile longer to get extremely dry. One possible issue is using an extension cord with the unit. If you use a standard household cord you may or will get a voltage drop which will cause poor performance of the unit. You need to either use a heavy wire gauge cord or plug the units cord directly into a properly rated outlet for the unit. I am happy now and will be returning the original back, back to the seller with a the ups shipping tag they sent. It's not costing me an extra dime, just a little time. Update: 2 June 2015 Have been using the unit for awhile now and it works fine, it rattles because of the all steel construction but that is easily fixed. The only other thing I have done is bypass the timer so the machine does not shutoff before contents are dehydrated. I still have to rotate trays but not near as much as this round plastic convection unit I had. I have also run a dedicated 20 amp circuit for the dehydrator so no more voltage drop because of under rated extension cords. Update: 31 Oct 2016 The unit has been working fine. It does take longer to dehydrate than what is suggested, but this is true for every other dehydrator I have had. I did have an issue with the dehydrator yesterday when drying hot peppers. The machine shut off but it was easily troubleshot. The problem was the cheap power switch. I replaced the switch this morning with a 20 amp toggle so this issue will not happen again. I am still happy with the unit. I did get my hot peppers dried, and processed. I now have a gallon of some very hot peeper. It's a mixture of Serrano, Jalapeno, Cayenne, Habanero, and a few Hungarian Wax.
Christy Kelley : Broke right away
I got this November 12, 2019 it stopped working after using two times November 19, 2019. I have 10 trays of Venison meat that is ruined now. The only good thing I can say about this is Amazon issued me a refund right away. And is sending UPS to house to pick up broken dehydrator.
